Excellent prequel to Moral Orel
15 November 2023
I'm putting this here to point out some of the absolutely absurd things Horst_In_Translation wrote in their lame excuse for a review. This person has obviously never heard of the show, Moral Orel, nor have they ever lived in a small religious town that is absolutely filled with characters just like the ones in Moralton.

I grew up in a small town that has the most churches per capita in my country, my Mom was/is the church secretary, and I spent 4 to 5 days a week in church. It was pure hell growing up, the entire place is nothing but one giant textbook example of hypocrisy, judgment and sin.

This short was excellent, typical Moral Orel quality, subversive social commentary. It plainly shows a lot of events that were hinted at during the course of the three seasons the series aired, and it was a lot of fun to watch these scenes play out.

It was also hilarious to see Orel before he'd even heard of god, excellent stuff. Any fan of the series will love this, it's right up there with any other episode in the series' run.

I really wish this show had had a longer run, it does such a great job pointing out the absolute insanity that is modern organised religion, perhaps the greatest evil mankind has ever unleashed on the world. Give us more Moral Orel please!

A great nod to Hollywood's "Golden Age" Film Noir genre.

I can't believe all these negative reviews saying it's "too complicated" or "I'm confused". If this film was too smart for you, maybe stick to Marvel movies. The plot is intricate and clever, but it's very far from confusing, it's a wonderful homage to an amazing era and genre. I so wish we had a lot more of these kinds of intelligent, story driven thrillers, it's very refreshing. It doesn't rely on violence, sex, special effects, and it isn't dumbed down for the mainstream.

Maybe the worst writing I've ever seen on television.

I don't write reviews, there's no point, real film lovers don't read these. I certainly don't. While I really don't like these MCU productions much, sometimes I'm just in the mood for mindless trash. This however is on a whole other level of bad that I had to say something, if they continue to deteriorate at this rate we'll soon end up in a real life situation like Idiocracy. This is by far the lowest rating I've ever given, generally I do my research and am very selective. Even with garbage like Mork and Mindy we at least had talented actors that did their best with the awful material and somewhat elevated it. Here there is no such thing, the writing, direction and acting are truly impossibly bad. It is ridiculously frustrating that anyone involved in this farce was actually paid the sort of ridiculous rates that MCU productions pay. I certainly am done with giving Marvel another penny after this farce, god is it awful beyond words.
