Ended like an episode of poirot

Spoilers - fantastic ending is you don't have a brain.

(Edit I had only just watched it so didn't know it was based on a book so I don't know where the blame lies)

Seriously series was great, but episode just left me with quests?

So many simple issues with a great series.

The writers didn't think Dicky while being driven off to his death (maybe) might just say, him that man there he has your money and blew up my trucks while pointing at Pine. Who is stood right there?

And on that money where did Pine he transfer it too?

The government woman? Because his accounts would all be frozen as a man on the run for murder, drug trafficking theft and identity theft?

Dicky or the others didn't teach him how to set up fony accounts, shell companies or anything else.

Also why would they give him the passwords to that account?

His retina scan yes, his name on the account yea. He's the straw man he shouldn't be actually be able to access anything important, maybe a card with a hundred K on there so he feel like he can pay his own way?

Also not leaving at least 2 security in the hotel room while your out ? Or posted outside on rotation that's just bad planning.

And the other deals were far smaller with on going buyers? Did the writers just do the first few episodes then watch murder in paradise and think oh yea let's do that.

Ragging on it but only because I really enjoyed the series, regular BBC issues and all.

It feels like they didn't know how to end it so rushed it or ran out of money.

Would have been nice to see Dicky get out after a week or two. Or Pine run off with the phone and just blow up the meeting and everyone who was there.

Still a great show just a shame about the ending as there isn't a spin off or second series (apparently now there is)

Dexter: New Blood (2021–2022)

Could have been a great comeback

After the decline of Dexter in to a soap opera over the later seasons, it was nice to see a well written story of his new life.

There were some annoying plot holes, like in the last episode there where cop gf finds the leg screw in the cabin even though it's in Dexter's pocket. Then arrests him based on this when there would be video evidence of the guy handing Harrison the envelope. This is all after the giant leaps it took to get to Dexter's real identity being found out. And just before probably the worst ending to anything I've ever seen.

Dexter clearly could have just choked the cop out or even better got a lawyer like a normal person when there is absolutely no evidence linking him to any crimes.

Absolute waste.

Running with the Devil (2019)

Like a long episode of Narco's but not season 1 Narcos

I liked 90% of this movie it was only ruined by the ending, a weird casting choice with Leslie Bibb as an FBI,DEA something agent (you had penya FFS) & the flame effects towards the end look like a screen saver from the 90s.

Following coke from grower in Columbia to some big guy in Canada with a side story of an addict trying to branch out and some kind of agents?

The ending brought the stars right down, you've not built this character enough to show she would suddenly be cool with murder all of a sudden. Tho this might be partly due to Bibbs acting.

But I'm fully blaming the director because he clearly doesn't know how physical strength works either with Bibbs character (sorry not picking on her honesty) is ment to have somehow stripped then lifted and chained a fully conscious guy twice her size 7ft in the air. And then later threatens to do it again? She could have done it at gun point and fired warning shots which then in turn would make the ending more believable but no. You don't see any of that, it's not even implied he just appeared there scared of a soccer mom?

Cage was good the best actor is fishy as you'd expect if you turn off before the last 5 mins it's not a bad movie .

Blue Story (2019)

If it wasn't laughable it would be dull

I found this movie hilarious tho it was ment to be super serial 🤣🤣🤣 well apart from one thing. I'm sure they used audio of the mother of a school boy that was stabbed to death in real like. (Bad taste)

It may have the actors from top boy in it, but definitely not the writer. The story has been done a million times before, even with London gangs. They even copy some scene or scenarios directly from other movies.. and the twists 😂😂😂🤣🤣 his he going to die .. no hes not .. yes he is ... Make your mind up.

If you need a laugh and don't mind some awful plot holes it's entertaining... The music trying to be emotional is a bit out off putting at times but it's part of the movie as they use it to tell the story which seems cheesy to me but it make a change.

Also to ruin the ending for you, vans like the one they use have a cable in the back door you can pull on from the inside, just incase you close the door on yourself and get stuck inside (this ruins a few other movies too).

How I Met Your Father (2022–2023)

It's a spin off what do you expect

Yea Hilary duff and Kim what's her face were enough to one start this, but it's just another forced out vaguely close to an old show mess to make a quick buck don't waste your time.

Ozark (2017–2022)

Got silly then stale

Bateman's consistently good at his job the rest of them....

Strong start but kill off some of the better characters in the first or very beginning of the second season then the show concentrates on what they've got left.. and it just got boring and ridiculous.

First season is great even with a few weird casting choices, the family works the kids are a bit annoying but kids, the red neck familys okay, even the gay FBI think sort of works but they drag it out and make too much of a show of it. The only one that doesn't make sense is the little girl with blonde curly hair? It's like watching Anny trying to play Chucky lol she's not bad in the role just a bit small to be threatening and the hair looks silly...

If this show was 1 season long it would give it 8,8.5/10 But after season one it looses direction, the whole we need to launder X amount in X time (which was achieved or on its way to being) is shoehorned back in to stretch out the same story, and why Batman's character hasn't had his cheating ass wife killed or at least kicked her our I don't get.

Where the show lost me completely.

(Slight spoiler) After the daughter has her tantrum (smokes weed ooooo) and the son has his 5 mins of sociopath it the gets worse.

When the wife starts talking to the cartel boss and he actually listens to her over his best accountant about laundering his money??

After too much forced drama and dull episodes, also the cartel lawyer and the wife getting pally was bad enough (it doesn't make sense, she's their to make sure Batman's character is doing his job not make a gal pal, she even undergoes toutrure or at least interigation because of the wife).

But back to the cartel boss his money laundering guy (Bateman) is the best ever, but Bateman's wife suggests to the lawyer they can buy two river boat casinos and launder even more money for the cartel.

Batman's character explains in detail why this is a bad idea to the cartel boss because it's too risky.

The boss then gets all paly with the wife and gives her, with no experience and no idea of how to actually launder the money the go ahead to do it anyway??

How's she ment to do that its like asking a pilot to cook you a 5 star meal when he's only ever used a microwave. She also she snitches on her husband for trying to get them out of the cartels control leading to him being tortured too).

After this I tried a few more episodes but after hours spend on a crazy redneck farm lady and the paster/ baby thing I'd had enough.

I've been told it got good again but I doubt it.

I really don't know why American shows almost always do this, I get after a few seasons you run out of ideas that's fine but to have so many long ass episodes that go nowhere the eventually turn into a soap opera...... It's like watching Dexter lol.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019)

The out takes are better than the rest of the film

The title says it all, the out takes at the end, show this was probably written as a decent jay and Bob movie shared the humour of the old movies and the tone.

But something happened and this flaming pile of garbage was an instant to my eyes, ears and wallet.

Smith making the joke that he is a hack now and just puts his talentless annoying daughter in everything (as a main character) doesn't make it not true or forgivable.

No one wanted another yoga hosers so why did you make it?

There are a few funny moments but the majority of the movie seems to be either look how self aware, woke and inclusive we are now or just a big middle finger to the people who watch his movies and Karen jokes.

Smith's done and we should be done with him.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)

Great 1st episode. Gave up after

1st episode was great untill it stroppy forced conflict the main woman to get in a strop and leave.

Then we follow (long exhale) dull "insert strong woman 1" with "ethnic strong woman 2" (same art that seems to be in everything for the black girl?).

Forced myself to give the 2nd episode a chance but the main character is so unlikeable and the winey voice acting grates after a minute.

Were then presented with a pretty much all woman show with the only male characters being stupid and clumsy.

There was a brief glimmer of hope with a techno-cult but again strong woman stupid man.

I don't know what happened to Kevin Smith but know your audience man its a he-man show without he-man, if you had named it She-Ra then fair enough but eerrr(long exhale).

It's pretty much unwatchable which is a real shame because there looks loads of potential was wasted.

Top Dog (2014)

All filler had potential but wasted it.

Honestly don't waste your time, nothing happens for most of the movie.

This would make an okay episode of a TV drama or soap but there is so, so much filler. It tried so hard and failed so badly.

It's a mess of wanting to be too many things at once and in the end is non of them. There's clearly a budget of some sort and theres some elements of football casuals and gangsters but must of it is a woman in a fake belly crying, or a small skinny man crying.

The sound track is all over the place but the costumes are pretty spot on.

There's other reviews slating the believability of some characters being hooligans but they've clearly never been to an away match haha The acting is about the level you'd expect for this I assume straight to dvd title so no complaints there.

If there had been anything else but all that filler I'd give it a 5 or generous 5.5 but the hodg podg tonal mess it is 2 stars.

Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008)

Since the first one I've said the secqual should have been Harold and 2mar.

Decent enough secqual. 10 years too late for a proper review. Same humor, characters are consistent and the situations and stupidity double as a good secqual does. Also as a straight continuation Maria and the boys end up in Amsterdam so hats off to not just hiring 3 t.v actors to do a straight to dvd secqual.

Was going to make a joke about Bobby Lee (Kenneth Park) becoming all powerful but I think we all know its too late for that.

I was there in Amsterdam on holiday visiting from UK college to see a good friend when they were filming harold and 2mar, And all I got to see was the mess on the leidseplein and some incoherent America collage guys, shame on you kumar shame on you. (We know Harold's better than that)

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

Majestic as always

It's a fantastic Wes Anderson film. Definitely stands up after repeate watches. Fiennes is spectacular, so is everyone else for that matter. The cast includes one of my top 5 most hated actresses/actors and wes made them look good. Not much else to say except watch it.
