Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)

HOW IS THIS MOVIE THIS GOOD?!!!!

I genuinely cannot believe I'm saying this, but this is one of the best movies of the year, so far, it's neck to neck with The Menu for me.

Incredible on every front.

The animation is incredible. I'm beyond thrilled that Dreamworks decided to ditch the hyper-realistic animation style, and just went for a style that would perfectly represent the emotions and craziness that this movie needed.

The characters, EVERY SINGLE ONE, was so fleshed out, and they all felt like they had a purpose being there. We didn't get the usual Shrek style, Grimm fairytale cameos for no reason, on the contrary, they all played an important role in the story, and in the overall message.

This movie also had me so emotional, no spoilers, but it's the way the creators handle their characters, with such sincerity and heart.

Finally, the action, and the plot itself, it was go go go from the get go, i haven't seen a more well paced film all year, i think that is my favourite part of the dilm (Avatar 2 could take some notes)

Overall, it was truly such a blast, so fun, heartfelt, FUNNY, genuine, with a great message at its core.

House of the Dragon: The Black Queen (2022) Season 1, Episode 10

hard work pays off

An incredible episode, so packed with tension, i was on the edge of my seat in every single scene. Stellar performances, writing, and direction. I'm just in awe of how this show is so on point in every episode, from costume, to make up and researchers etc etc The tension and drama is so well done, and increases gradually, pulling you in more and more for the grand finale.

Emma D'Arcy and Matt Smith work beautifully together, their anger and frustration is felt through the screen.

The Dragon scenes were incredible too, especially that scene where Daemon goes to the crypt singing to a dragon, it shows you the ancient bond between Targaryen and dragon.

Why does Dominik Despise Monroe THIS MUCH?!

It seems like this director, Dominik, has a personal vendetta against Marilyn. Only a person who truly loathes her would make a film like this about her life.

It's a messy, pretentious, dull, boring string of fictional and brutal things that happen to Marilyn. Dominik seems to get off on watching his fictional "Marilyn" suffer, cry, and get assaulted. It was a miserable viewing of this man making a mockery of a brilliant, intelligent, and exceptionally talented woman, who just like everyone, had demons of her own. It's a gross film to say the least, and again, incredibly boring, long and nothing really happens except Ana deArmas being naked, crying and begging a man for something or the other.

Don't get me started on the made up pregnancies shoe-horned into the film to push a strange pro-life agenda. Babe, the fetus at a few weeks looked like it was fully formed which is hilarious, but ok i guess, push whatever agenda you want when your movie is this humiliating and dull.

Please don't waste your time with this one, not even deArma's beauty and talent could save this horrible movie.

I'm genuinely so confused by all the positive reviews. This show falls so flat in every single way, the acting is so unbelievable, the three main actors quarter ass their performances. The only one who was delivering was nathan lane, and he's barely in the show. The plot lines are so hollow and lacking in any suspense or drama, or even logic. I really wanted to like this, cause i, like everyone else in the world love steve martin and martin short. But this just wasn't it. A truly horrible show that looks beautiful.

Not ONE thing makes sense, literally nothing. What a colossal waste of time. It doesn't help that the movie is also boring, and then plot is so frustrating.

Death on the Nile (2022)

Can we all stop pretending that Gal Gadot can act?

The movie is in no way perfect, but the performances were by far the best part, other than Gadot's horrendeous acting that is. A blend of pouting, smirking, and doing everything she can to not look at the camera. Her performance took me out of it, especially when she's surrounded by such talented actors and actresses. (actually I could do without Armie Hammer too)

The movie otherwise was a spacey, and didn't really know what story it was telling. But could have been more enjoyable with a more talented actress to "carry" the film.
