Sarpatta Parambarai (2021)
After Lagaan ,Sarpatta can only be the heir to India's sports epic drama
PA Ranjith is the real hero for this movie. The brave overtones in the screenplay -be it the political biases, caste/ social biases, the protagonist's weaknesses are laid out to the audience bare-naked. Never does it feel , that the story has been overboard with tomfoolery action. The sequencing in which Vembuli is portrayed in the final fight is a first to Indian cinema. Rangan's attitude towards indiscipline is also smartly shown. For the central character, Kabilan's struggles are nicely directed by Ranjith and performed by Arya. The script is so tight that any disciplined actor could have done justice to this role. Also production takes kudos in not going overboard with set designs. Furthermore, the epic saga also focuses on the struggles that other characters have -Rose outlook on his loss, Rangan and his son's struggles to establish their rightful place in Sarapatta clan, mariammas no nonsense typical attitude. Even Raman ' struggles have been so nicely shown.lastly hip Music just adds the icing on the 🍰
overall Tamil cinema is the flagship of Indian cinema and their dominance in storytelling, direction and performance are shined through movies like Sarapatta.🥊🥊
Ludo (2020)
Kuch rishton mein logic nahi hota magic hota hai(Some relationships are not defined by logic but by magic)
The screenplay, dialog, direction and production makes the relationships between different characters look so awesome amidst chaos.
Bittu and the girl's story tops the scenes . Although the story has gaps but the fun in each characters reminds me Priyadarshan's movies.
Take the Ball Pass the Ball: The Making of the Greatest Team in the World (2018)
Homage to Barca's best era
This the best show to relive what the gods of football achieved between 2008-12. At times I can understand the bias towards a philosophy depicted here. Johan's guiding star,Rjikaard's implementation,Pep's tactics , Messi's beautiful rendition and dream team's execution are the main highlights. Background music simply pumps up all the emotions once again while watching these visuals.
The striking philosophies of the club to its strict following through diligent efforts of celestial players simply shows that this was a perfect era.
Rangbaaz (2018)
Average screenplay and production with some brilliant veteran acting
Ravi Krishna, Tigmanshu and Ranvir Shorey are the only lifelines of season 1 's average storyline. Saqib's almost dull acting as protagonist doesn't stimulate the UP's dreadful goon.
The lovelorn angle is almost a big no and should have been portrayed in a different way .Attempts to portray the 90s fall flat and almost looks very artificial.
Scenes of blatant corruption are nicely enacted out between Ravi and Tigmaanshu. The screenplay for scenes of phone tapping are laughable. How can you make Ranvir shorey stand and look dumb while as usual 20 year old something scrambles frequency channels to do phone tapping. That's really dumb.
Another attempt to portray the real caste divide issue also has been so much exaggerated, it falls flat.
Overall , I am watching it for the acting of vertebrae's who are so likable in any gangsta style scripts.
Ek Thi Begum (2020)
Old wine in old bottle but is fast paced
Although this web series is a free one to watch , the production ,cinematography and acting is superb. However the screenplay and script for a Mumbai mafia-giri story is tried and and tested and has almost no originality except few scenes.
Nana mhatre's crab torture , tavade's antics are few of the highlights in the overall dull storyline.
Binge watch on your tv in background while you are working on something else.
Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side (2020)
Poor screenplay and acting spoils brilliant script and DOP
The concept of a software engineer doing ping google on a terminal window and saying she is expert in hacking is a mere example of how bad is the screenplay.
Except Sharib Hashmi, everyone's acting is below par. Yes even Arshad Warsi's .
For such a powerful concept how can Dhananjay Rajput move on without really showing remorse after hearing his wife's death. At the worst, Barun Sobti's acting is terrible and misplaces the motive of putting the character Nikhil Nair in the script.
Personally for me the ending was so hapless that I kept wondering how the majority is tempted to weigh above 8 for this series.
I am sure season 2 will be released and unless there is a change in the casting, screenplay writing and director, i am not wasting 5 years of my idle time.
