Eastwick (2009–2010)

Loved it
28 September 2009
ABC has hit it out of the park with their new Wednesday night line up and Eastwick is a great way to cap it off. The three women are perfect in their roles and Paul Gross is so damn sexy, good and perhaps evil at the same time. I loved him in Due South and its great to see him back on TV again. For a pilot this was great, I loved the cast and cared about them by the end and the story lines can go anywhere. I can't wait for this Wednesday night. Good family fare and I hope ABC gives all of the new Wednesday night shows a chance to find their groove, loved Cougar Town and Modern Family as well. Finally some decent TV and no reality shows! I hate them!

Isn't Bruce Willis getting a bit old to keep playing these parts?
25 September 2009
Bruce Willis, almost 60 and still playing the same exact part he did in Die Hard 25 years ago. It's tired, stale and just plain boring. Bruce, baby, its time to hang up the action hero halo. This picture would have been perfect for a younger actor and much more believable. At this point it seems Bruce just shows up to the set, acts like himself and goes home. The Sixth Sense was the last good part he had and he does well in smaller, more interesting roles. Anything that comes out with Bruce, John Travolta,Denzel Washington or Samuel L Jackson just looks like the same old hat they have been churning out for the past 20 years. I don't even waste my time anymore, thank god Mel Gibson is too busy in rehab to churn out any more drek. I loved Bruce when he was on Moonlighting and in his early films, then he went all Republican and turned all Hollywood and it just turned me off. He was an unique actor at first then he just drifted into the same boring part over and over again.

The Final Destination Ishtar!
8 September 2009
This is without question the Ishtar of the Final Destination series and I hope the LAST sequel so that the whole franchise does not go down the drain. I won't bore you with the storyline, many have outlined it here, I will however tell you what is wrong with this mess.

1. Bad Actors: Campo did his best here but the rest of the cast is horrible especially the girls, they acted like they were on a cold reading, horrible horrible performances.

2. Bad script: who wrote this? someone's 9th grader? the script is horrible and I felt sorry for the actors (bad as they are) that they had to read such crap.

3. To much CGI, when it looks fake it ain't scary, all of the death scenes were given away in the previews BAD IDEA. To much CGI made everything look fake, this movie is on the level of one of those bad SCI FI Channel movies, very shoddy production values.

4. No new ideas or twists, this was a very lazy lame attempt at a sequel and I won't see anymore of these in this franchise if they are stupid enough to make another one. The only reason we saw it was because we had free tickets.

Don't waste your money here folks, if you have to watch it wait for DVD, oh and not all the theaters are showing this in 3D.

Whats next Final Destination 5: Amityville? 1 out of 10 and that is being generous.

Technicolor Ending worth sitting through the rest
2 September 2009
Poor Joan, I can see why she worked so hard for the role of Crystal Allen in "The Women" her next picture after this dreg.

Bad script bad director just bad everything, the only part worth watching is the Technicolor ending which is quite interesting and it is Joan's first color picture. Joan's drunken scene is also good and Lew Ayres was such a cu-tie when he was young but the rest of it is pure yuck! and I thought Trog was bad. For true Joan fans only. I suggest renting it NOW ON DVD, the transfer is very good and the sound quality is good. This has to be the worst picture Joan was in and it didn't have to be, minor changes to the script would have helped this picture a lot. Minor reworking to the "Joan becomes a star overnight" storyline could have worked out in a believable fashion. The story seems thrown together and I don't think anyone at MGM actually watched it before it was released. This was no cheap budget either, the sets are impressive but everyone seems to know they are in a clunker.

Much Better than some reviews
27 August 2009
OK so this isn't Mildred Pierce, but it's not horrible either. Typical 1950's melodrama about a congresswomen (Crawford) who ends up caught between two men and fighting fascist censorship at the same time. Tame by today's standards I'm glad to see that Joan was not scared to throw some mud in the eye of the evil McCarthy witch hunt. (in real life Joan did testify at the McCarthy hearings and basically told them to go to hell, but in a nice way only Joan could pull off). Don't write this movie off, it is now available on DVD through Movies Unlimited as is Joan's last picture for Warners "This Women Is Dangerous". If your a Joan fan these are musts for your collection.

God it's great to feel happy coming out of the theater
15 August 2008
Loved it Loved it Loved it. Yes there are a few small stumbles but I can't remember the last time I saw a movie at the theater 3 times! Meryl is amazing and I give Pierce props, he knows he's not a singer and he still did it and he gave it his all you can tell and it was not that bad. What I found the most enduring is the fact that none of the players are professional singers, who needs more American Idol wannabe's remember "From Justin to Kelly" yuck now that is a horrible movie. The not perfect singing made the characters more realistic and I found myself loving their faults as well as their charms. Is it fluffy? of course it is, so was the play but the movie is much better and tells the story better in my humble opinion. If you want to take a mental vacation to Greece and disconnect from this troubled world then leave your reality behind and enjoy 2 hours of what the world should be.

Horrible Remake of Karate Kid
13 March 2008
Unoriginal story and script and bad acting. No one over the age of 19 will know anyone starring in the piece of drek. Sean Faris is pretty to look at but I would have been more proud of him if he enlisted in the service. This is another one of those "Here's the new pretty boy, lets see if he can carry a picture" he can't.

The production values are cheap and the movie looks like it was made in the 1980's. I kept asking myself "Where is the guy from Karate Kid? Will he be the new teacher that gives Sean the ability to take back his honor and win over all the kids at school? Where is Rae Dawn Chong? Will Irene Cara be singing the ending credits love ballad? This waste of time is sooo predictable and lame that I won't even bother to tell you the storyline. If you have seen Karate Kid, Rocky, or any of the straight to video Jean Claude Van Dam films, you have already seen this story and please save your $9.00 for gas!. You will have a much better time at "Horton Hears a Who" two thumbs way down.

Vantage Point (2008)
8/10
Loved it
7 March 2008
It seems the only people who don't like this movie are the ones who have attention spans of less than 2 minutes. This film takes some higher level of educational knowledge and the ability and want to unravel something in a unique way.

I loved the way the film was edited and the formula for the different Vantage Points was really cool, I loved all of them. My only disappointment with the film is that Signorney Weaver was not in it more, I would have loved it if they would have went back and forth to the news van more and perhaps got her more into one of the vantage points.

Other than that the movie kept my attention did not bore me because it was not predictable and I had to use my head. If Transformers is what you need to be happy with a film this is not for you, but if an intelligent film that is very action packed and fast paced but makes you think is your bag see it !

Halloween (2007)

Zombie sucks and so does this movie
31 August 2007
When I first heard there was a remake of Halloween in the works I thought, what the F#ck? how can you remake a classic of this caliber, well the answer is you can't. This is NOT Halloween this is a completely different movie that in no way compares to the original and when you consider the amount of money Zombie spent making this trash compared to the, lets see, what was it? 150,000 that Carpenter spent its hysterical.

The Weinsteins have another crash and burn on their hands because they are investing in people who just Don't get it. Blood and guts do not make HORROR, there is hardly a drop of blood in Halloween yet to this day it scares me every time I watch it. (pop the 25th anniversary edition DVD in some dark night and watch it alone, you will be checking every door and window in your house for a month). And NO ONE can be Laurie Stroud except Jamie Lee Curtis, end of story. The acting is horrible and the characters are cookie cutter stereotypes that no one can connect with. I agree the Texas hick accents are so lame, its Illinois idiot not Texas.

The acting is so horrible and the film is soooooo slow and sooooo stupid, we left 45 minutes into it, I just could not even give it my time to watch it all and I won't. Thank god we had a free screening cause I knew it was going to be bad but this is the ISHTAR of horror movies... GET SOME ORIGINAL IDEAS ZOMBIE...... You are no John Carpenter... Run from this as fast as you can from this, do not waste your money. Invite friends over, cook some popcorn and watch the real Halloween.... still scary after all these years.

Hairspray (2007)

The Best Movie Musical Since Chicago
23 July 2007
Loved it loved it loved it. I kept my expectations low for this movie because I didn't want to be disappointed(as I was with Dreamgirls) but Hairspray 07 does not disappoint one bit. The entire cast is excellent and I was laughing and smiling from beginning to end. I had my doubts about Travolta but he blew it out of the park as Ms. Edna. He gave his own performance and did not try to impersonate Divine or Harvey, he seemed much more like a real women than a man in drag and the chemistry between Travolta and Chris Walken was great, you really believed they were man and wife, their musical number is a highlight of the movie. I'm going to see it again this week with a different group of friends and I know I'll buy it on DVD. This is the best 10.00 bucks you will spend this summer, forget Transformers, Hairspray is the kinda movie Hollywood needs to make more of, cause I think we all just want to feel good and Hairspray delivers in spades!
