Wow, I am blown away by the lack of everything, except long drawn out scenes. Plenty of those. Just about every character is slow witted or complaining, thoughtless or an a-hole. I absolutely loved the first series. This is not even in the same universe as far as quality. It's interesting to see some of the old gang; but mostly, it's confusing and boring and sadistic. Why are we being subjected to a robot bear repeating the same line forever? A lot of bad acting, bland acting or over the top cheese, executed to be quirky. Why are so many people in Twin Peaks so stupid? Is there something in the water supply? I get the message that humans have done evil & we are all suffering from the after effects, but why make us as an audience suffer more? Why is there a car honking forever, after a gun went off in a car? Does no one in the town have any awareness of their surroundings or what''s happening in front of them? Why do i need to listen to this? A girl drives maniacally with her mother on the hood, and speeds off - tossing her to the ground, Because her husband is cheating? Wtf David. Terrible show and sad to see Lynch is suffering from dementia or drug use XO.

It started out pretty good: scenes from the lives of the two characters in their youth as friends with puppy love. Then we learn that the girl will be leaving the country. The first thing her mother does is set up a date with the boy and his mother as a chaperone. Then proceeds to tell the other mother that they are moving away and wanted this date as a pleasant memory for her daughter, not taking into consideration what that might do to the boy's emotions.
Then we fast forward to them at university age and they skype a lot. She quickly halts this as it's too much for her. Even though she has feelings for him, she cuts him out of her life and decides to match herself with a man - who she has control over. She seduces him, he trys to learn her language and hangs out with her family. There is never talk of his family. The way he lays across her in bed as a woman does to a man. The way he is afraid she doesn't love him. She has the power; even if her husband never speaks of his fears, they exist and she can feel that on some level.
She even says to his face that her old friend is very masculine and typical / normal. A normal man, the very thing that is too much for her. She needs to be on top, so to speak. People comment on the noble character of the husband, but think it was the only thing he could do. To just take it, and prey that she would stay. I was angry as this film triggered my own experiences with an emotionally bankrupt woman.
The way she would just stare at her Korean visitor during their time together in NYC, showed how she wanted to be near the tiger, but does not dare try to tame it.

...This episode comes into play. Wow, what a way to downgrade the show. Jonathan Majors is a terrible actor, how he got huge parts is a mystery to me. His personal life issues may save us though from more big roles we might have to grin and bare in the future. Majors not only chews the scenery but is less life-like and realistic than the cartoon clock. And what by the way is going on with that ridiculous creation? Why do film & tv directors put such childish & low bar things in their work? Like in A.i. Spielberg throws in a cartoon for the kids or i don't know why.
One thing that was super amazing in the 2nd season was the appearance of Ke Huy Quan. But, by the 3rd episode, his accent is hard to understand as he rushes thru his dialog.

First Wes Anderson Film I Couldn't Finish

Yikes, I get that Wes has an affection or addiction to the old 4:3 TV ratio, but jeez After at least 3 of his last films using it cut in with 16:9, I cannot take a whole film like that. It's such a waste of space and lazy filmmaking. A director has zero vision when they fill the screen with an actor's face, usually found in TV, but also film.
Wes has his frame filled up with nice colors and settings, so why not fill the entire screen with it, and not a square in the middle?
I also thought "Asteroid City" was his weakest up until this release. I t was flat and had only some moments and cool visuals - but was not a solid piece. Saying this to illustrate his unfortunate decline :(

I could only stomach 15 min and 22 sec of this masterpiece. Of course I came for Nic Cage, and he tried his best, in the one scene i saw him in, haha. But, this writer / director, ouch! Almost every line in the opening scene has been used 1000 times. It's like if a screen writing student was all of a sudden given a budget and big name actors to make his final class film. So, let me get this straight: You are running from a Mob-type boss who knows you stole from him, and you're going to casually tie up your boat like it's a normal Wednesday afternoon? At the same time your wife, who you told to leave town "on the next flight" decides to slowly put her daughter on the the flight the next day? And the mother didn't go for what reason?
That brings me to my final scene that i could muster. Nic on the beach, doing his best to act along with this flat cardboard young girl and says that line that I am sure was a working title: "You Like Bologna?" 1 Star Folks...

I was actually able to watch this without any real terror or suspense - like a regular drama; as the mask looks friendly & clown-like. Not at all creepy and weird like the first films.
Spoiler: When she has his in a bag in the back of the van, with a gun... why doesn't she just pull over the shoot the body bag till she's out of bullets?
Where was she driving to that she had to watch him open and escape the bag? So stupid!!! Booo!

WTF is this? How did this get made? How did Jon Cryer get a career after this? Bad writing to the MAXX... Whiny unlikeable doof as the lead is nauseating!
Mixed with tone-deaf singing as the music-star played by Demi Moore... Who is cute, but agreed to be in this film, so Can't be too intelligent !@#$Ugh. Glad I never found this growing up, it might have scared me.

Nice attempt and good intentions. The CGI in the modern era, just keeps evolving; which is great for certain FX. Yet, it leaves Human characters empty and without weight. Feels like watching a video game.
The music is terrible all around, if it's not wailing choral cheesiness, it's alternative pop songs in place of original material. Also, the cliche orchestra stuff is boring.
Amber Heard chews up the scenery like a university student trying to impress a local reporter who came to see the show. as Lex Luther is just just ridiculous as a teenager going to work and posing as his father. Jared Leto = One year ahead of Ms. Heard at the University.
* No jokes work. Batman sunglasses are dumb looking.
Lastly the bat signal looks like mashed potatoes ;)

I'm trying to watch this new show and see what's up; and there is a Trumpet blaring in my ear. Why do the sound mixers always make the music and effects so much louder than the dialog.?

All I could think about while watching this bloated guitar/motorcycle/grab the girl and kiss her, after you toss her around joke of a movie... Was all the crew members, drivers and catering folks that were telling themselves: "we're making a real movie!"
This is why the rest of the world hates Hollywood. And i've lost all respect for Bradley cooper's acting skills, which was on the way out after lasting only 10 min into his opus with Lady Gaga. Watch what actors do with their hands, it's a sure way to tell if they know what they are doing or not. He has his arms locked together for the whole film, to show how he is struggling to open up to the world, give me a break!
And the whole concept of tiny bird droppings on a plate in some upper class library of a restaurant - who gives a damn?

I re-watched this and enjoyed it. I was stunned to go back and read my review which was written after the 1st viewing! I didn't like it at all, and it just shows you that if you take the time and go back... You can see things with a different (completely different) perspective.
The movie is fun and ridiculous and that's ok. It's entertainment. I think we can hold things to too high of a standard these days. Of course you may want to see a piece of cinema magic every time you plunk down your cash or stream something - but that's not reality.
I still think he just should of sat down on the toilet, when he had to pee. Instead he uses his 'gun hands' to fiddle with himself while standing... But, that is why my rating is not a 10, it's an 8. The film is good fun and all but not perfect. So, enjoy if this is your type of picture :)

I waited patiently to see this film. I have been a fan of Alex Honnold, and was looking forward to witnessing his feat of free climbing El Capitan! It was mildly interesting to see him build his relationship with his girlfriend; which turned out to be the bulk of the film.
The "Climb" was left to the last 15 min or so of the film. Finally, I thought: Here it comes: then to my dismay, it was rushed and little line-drawings illustrated where he had traveled.
I understand that the camera crew wanted to give him space and allow him to do his thing, but the Director & Editor could have shown more than 3 seconds of what he was doing at a time. Instead, we have footage of the film crew / friends having a hard time with the process. The Entire film was a build up to a mild pay-off. I got zero sense of what was happening.
A very long trailer for a film that was never to be.
