The Happening (2008)
1/10
awful!!
21 June 2008
Warning: Spoilers
worst movie ever, I feel so cheated. I want my money back. Night's ego is higher then his movies. and specially the end "s--- happens". Thats all just s--- happens!!!

Worst dialogs, poor acting. some smart tricks but done to death by many Asian horror filmmakers. Might be new here in USA but nothing fresh.

I would save my money!!! do not watch this film -its a fake "nature-spiritual" movie without soul. Its sad that Night is becoming Deepak Chopra of film world -egocentric and empty!!!

Why would someone invest so much of money in creating an in-important filmmaker? In The Happening everything happens except a great movie.

Just avoid. I feel so frustrated. Now I take wow that Night has disappointed me three times in a row. Never again I will watch his movies !!!

Ignore it completely!

Warning: Spoilers
I left the theater frustrated -there is absolutely nothing to behold in this movie. Its fake, forced and best is to forget it.

If cinema out of India has to make a crossover appeal then one has to do more then picture post-card glossy cinematography. India is so much full of great stories then why tackle this unbearable tale?

It is real sad that so much of talent is wasted in wrong direction. If same amount of efforts were put into writing a script or a story then the film would not have been so boring and empty.

Please do not spend your 10 bucks on it, and more then that do not waste your time with this movie which fails to entertain or inspire...

Samsara (2001)

Absolutely Exceptional!
2 April 2006
I am not a festival buff, to kill the scorching heat I walked into Imax Multiplexes in Mumbai, discovered that there is a festival going on. I read about all the films programmed -one appealed to me the most was SAMSARA. Great luck, show was on in an hour. When I came out of the hall, my heart and mind were blown. I know nothing about this film and where it came from but wow what a discovery! I surfed net to find out more. Second shock came soon after when I discovered that it is made by an Indian Filmmaker based in Paris (and in India). Pan Nalin, never ever heard about him? My mind started wondering we talk about our Blacks and Devadas and Parineeta's and Pahelis -but what about this masterpiece? Isn't it pity that such films were distributed worldwide, millions saw it but no release in India? Is Mr. Ghai, Mr. Chopra are you listening? Indian medias wake up, Samsara is a sign! Here is a film and a director which India should be proud of!

The film is truly an eye opener what India can do to play a vital role in international cinema. So many loud talks about crossovers and here is a whisper called Samsara and that is truly a crossover. I will eagerly wait for Pan Nalin's other films: Ayurveda:Art of Being, Valley of Flowers...
