Collide (2016)
Fast & Furious meets Jason Statham
No need to over-think every movie. This one's a case of sit back and just soak up the action, fast cars, guns and explosions.
Hero does a deal with a drug kingpin to save the girl he loves. Best laid plans...
Massive car chases, fight scenes and lethal ordinance, meshed with a booming soundtrack, delivers adrenaline all the way through.
Charming (2018)
Another one
So we're in lockdown and the kids on holiday. Let's watch an animated movie - any animated movie.
It's fairly new (the movie, not the idea), it's got princesses (so let's again attack the origins of those characters - yawn) and a prince (let's feminise and rescue him throughout). Perfect melting pot for an upset feminist movie for kids!
The movie's only objective is to ridicule past prince & princess movies (male saving female) but then does the same by placing the heroine as the lead rescuing a wet, helpless prince.
The brainwashing media machine continues. Youngsters aren't allowed to see strong male characters being masculine, stoic, daring and saving the 'damsel in distress'. The reverse is apparently acceptable and actively promoted, which is the only objective of this monotonous movie - animation quality, script, syncing and storyline all distant tertiary considerations.
The Nun (2018)
Great unapologetic horror
Quite simply, a solid action filled horror.
The most potent weapon used, apart from Frenchie's bullets, is prayer - interesting and original how this was used and respected by the director.
Yes there's always the "really, why separate now?" in horror movie moments, but gotta admire our heroes bravery. Actually on the bravery scale - 10/10!
Sit back and enjoy this one without fear of being too freaked out at the end.
Clique (2017)
What a load of...
Another long drawn out drama but this time the twist - the men are made to look like shaved apes and the women awarded even more righteousness and feminist super powers. Well done BBC. This is where my licence fee goes.
Sherlock Gnomes (2018)
Honestly don't bother
I took my two young girls to see this at the cinema for some light hearted fun and omg, it disappointed from the beginning.
The animation and settings are dull, the characters flat and storyline tedious. Everything is just frankly monotonous and boring. The script and character roles are straight from a bitter angry feminists handbook and are just OTT.
The writers' clearly see a problem and attempt to lighten the mood with an Italian accented gnome in a mankini, which appears from time to time and makes a pointless one-line contribution.
Very few periods of this long film inspire any kind of positive response.
Ballerina (2016)
Great film!
Stumbled across this gem on Amazon. Perfectly pitched for the kids and adults will find it very easy viewing.
The story isn't overcomplicated and follows an orphaned dancer with the odds stacked against her. A work hard message that we can all relate to.
Also incredibly refreshing to find an animated film that hasn't had the producer/writer use as an opportunity to pepper with angry feminist one-liners.
Finally - excellent soundtrack! Will buy blu ray if it's available.
