Only (2019)
Incoherent, confusing, boring.
This story is told not chronologically, which I don't understand because it really did not add anything to the story it just made it more confusing. It was slow and boring, and no point do you feel anything for the characters, it's just melodramatic.
It's just a waste of time.
Solar Opposites (2020)
Rick and morty wannabe show
This show was difficult to watch and a waste of time.
Justin Roland does the voice of the main character and it sounds like rick from rick and morty, so it's just annoying and distracting.
All of the characters talk way too fast. It's incoherent.
Their mistake was making this not part of the rick and morty universe and trying to pretend it was a separate thing.
Waste of time. Watch something else.
The Assignment (2016)
Wildly offensive and disgusting piece of garbage
As a trans women I found this movie to be wildly offensive. The idea that any man can just undergo one surgery and become a beautiful women is so inaccurate and stupid.
I just can't. This film is infuriating. No part of it is accurate in any way shape or form.
I can't believe Michelle Rodriguez, sigourney Weaver, and Tony shaloub would do this film.
I can't believe any studio would give a director money to create it.
Transparent (2014)
Utterly Pathetic
I will preface this review with the fact that I am a transgender individual.
This show has been praised as a triumph of diversity and LGBT support. Funny, because I don't believe very many LGBT individuals are able to relate to this show or it's characters.
The characters in this show are appalling. We start the first season learning that they're all selfish terrible people, and as the show progresses, we learn that they're even worse than we originally thought. One of the biggest issues with this show is the fact that none of the characters are likeable. None of them are enjoyable to watch in any way shape or form. The only actual likeable characters are the Rabbi and Shea, the latter we get very little of.
This is NOT an interesting story. An old wealthy white male decides to come out as trans to his kids and family. I'm sorry but what part of that is interesting? Jill Soloway loosely based this show off of her own life... because we all think our lives would make an excellent tv show right??
Coming out as an old white man is not interesting. There are no consequences. None of the struggles facing trans individuals are present in this show. Maura does not have to worry about money, does not have to worry about her GROWN children, does not have to worry about passability, does not have to worry about being kicked out of their home, does not have to worry about upending their life. There is literally no struggle, this does not make for an interesting tv show.
On top of all of this, this show has such a small amount of content, it doesn't even succeed in teaching it's viewers anything about trans individuals, and it goes so far as to even get information incorrect. There was one scene where someone said that estrogen would help reduce their facial hair. This is not true for adults, facial hair growth is determined by hormones during puberty and HRT ( A term NEVER even mentioned ) does not affect facial hair growth in adults.
Half of each episode is just melodramatic slow walking with crappy music in the background. The most interesting character, Shea, played by Trace Lysette gets almost zero screen time.
This show is a waste of time and a huge missed opportunity.
