Female Characters You Fall In Love and/or Lust With
The inspiration for this list was the Officer Karen Thompson character played by Cynthia Rhodes in the 1988 film "Runaway". The idea is to identify a character who simply dazzles the male viewer and from whose love and/or lust perspective effectively steals the film (or episode), sometimes by design and sometimes unexpectedly. This can be the main character, but is often a supporting character played by an actress who somehow brings a special combination of physical sizzle and personal charm to her good girl or bad girl that elevates the character to an unexpectedly memorable level.
Of course in the case of several especially memorable bad girls the lust factor physical sizzle is sufficient. The performance usually rates as the most effective portrayal of their career. At least based on this list there appears to be no set formula for achieving this; giving the list considerable diversity.
This list has been slowly assembled as I have selected at least one such character for each year. What I notice as I go through the list now is that the characters who came on the scene during my lifetime cause an identification with the year of their arrival including where I was living and what I was doing that year. The intensity (and reliability) of that reaction is quite unexpected.

(2018), and Scare Me (2020).2021 The Boys (2019) - Stormfront
That someone this tiny (5'2") and almost forty would play a character that generates this level of erotic vibe is amazing. Bad girls are hot but bad girls with a comic touch are even hotter. The most interesting part is the way Stormfront grows on you. Hotter with each episode.- Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie was born in Wellington, New Zealand, to actress Miranda Harcourt and director Stuart McKenzie. New York City-born Erin Moriarty launched her acting career in a way many hopefuls dream of: with an awards-recognized project. Erin first appeared on screen in the Emmy-nominated soap opera One Life to Live (1968) in 2010, playing the character Whitney Bennett in six episodes. In 2011 she built on her TV work with a guest role in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999).
The following year, Erin landed a small part in her first feature film. Acting alongside Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill, she appeared in the sci-fi comedy The Watch (2012). In 2013, she took another supporting gig in a movie. The coming-of-age drama The Kings of Summer (2013) follows three teenagers who hatch a plan to part ways with their parents and live off the land in a house built by themselves. Portraying Natalie Walraven, the daughter of Radha Mitchell's character, Erin also worked on the 2013 TV series Red Widow (2013).
She stayed in TV in 2014 and played the daughter of Woody Harrelson's hard character Marty Hart in the first season of the Emmy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated True Detective (2014). It was a role that required her to appear in three episodes. Since the show wrapped, Erin has said playing a Goth was "fun... because it's the opposite of how I present myself, and is the opposite of any role I'd been considered for." In 2015, Erin landed a recurring guest role on hit Netflix crime action series Jessica Jones (2015). In 2016's Captain Fantastic (2016), starring Viggo Mortensen, she played the supporting role of Claire in the film festival favorite about the changing dynamics of a unique family. Erin followed that up with the action thriller Blood Father (2016), starring Mel Gibson and William H. Macy. She went on to play a starring role as Kelly in the biopic The Miracle Season (2018) (2018), alongside Helen Hunt. As of 2019, she is co-starring in Amazon Prime's 'The Boys'.2018 Driven (2018) - Katy Connors
Simply steals the movie in an otherwise modest role. I think it has a lot to do with contrast, having someone so innately classy playing a trashy character creates (at least in this case) some serious sizzle. That Moriarty so clearly enjoys playing against type in what is basically a parody of the stereotype makes Katy even hotter.- Actress

Dorthea Lauren Allegra Lapkus is an American actress, comedian, impressionist and pod-caster. Lapkus is known for portraying Susan Fischer in the Netflix comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black (2013-2014, 2019) and Jess in the HBO comedy-drama series Crashing (2017-2019). She has also appeared in the television series Are You There, Chelsea? (2012), Hot in Cleveland (2012), Clipped (2015), The Big Bang Theory (2018-2019), and Good Girls (2020-2021), and in the films Jurassic World (2015), The Unicorn (2018), and The Wrong Missy (2020). She played the voice role of Lotta in the animated comedy series Harvey Girls Forever! (2018-2020).2018 Holmes & Watson (2018) - Millicent
The only thing worthy of viewing in this horrible film is Millicent. Millicent does not have enough scenes to save this otherwise dead on arrival comedy but Lapkus somehow gives us a character that is effortlessly hilarious yet strangely erotic. Worth checking out, her scene with the giant lolly is a classic of understated nonverbal comedy.- Natalia Dyer is an American actress known primarily for her role as Nancy Wheeler in the Netflix science-fiction drama series Stranger Things (2016). Her career began around the age of 12 in 2009 in the family comedic drama Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009), starring Miley Cyrus. It was not until her late teens that she landed her breakthrough role on Netflix's horror drama series Stranger Things (2016). On January 29, 2017, at the 23rd Screen Actors Guild Awards show, Dyer and the cast of 'Stranger Things' became co-winners for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Fans can see her in upcoming features including After Darkness (2014) and Mountain Rest (2018)."2017 Stranger Things (2016) - Nancy Wheeler
The one thing not "stranger" in this series is the idea that Nancy would be the love interest of two boys. No need for any suspension of disbelief about this character, she is the ultimate straight-laced librarian type with a barely concealed smouldering hotness. - Actress

Her most recent starring role is as Eliza Dooley on the situation comedy Selfie (2014).2017 Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) - Martha / Ruby Roundhouse
An insecure nerd girl who suddenly finds herself in the body and attire of a typical comic book superheroine. If played right that makes for an irresistible character. Gillan pulls it off remarkably well and nicely alternates between kick-ass and extremely vulnerable.- Actress

Shannon Woodward is an American actress. Elsie would actually be a good entry in a list of minor series characters that connect so strongly with the viewer that they over-shadow the rest of the cast. But until I start that list I will put her on this one. Sexy cute and quick-witted, her quirky segments quickly became my favorite moments of the series.- Actress

Erin Richards was born on 17 May 1986 in Penarth, Wales, UK. She is an actress and director, known for Gotham (2014), The Crown (2016) and Breaking In (2011).2016 Gotham (2014) - Barbara Kean
Richards carries the "man-jaw" look to its ultimate extreme. While this is normally not an appealing feature, in her case it nicely complements her incredible eyes; turning her face into a uniquely quirky package that is surprisingly appealing. She is that odd actress who looks far more compelling in extreme close-up than in wide master shots, the opposite of a "blocker".
I suspect that it is this which accounts for the power of Barbara's tortured and more deviant moments. The viewer is far more drawn to her in her extreme moments.- Actress

She was nominated for a Royal Television Society Award for Best Actress for her role in Eyewtness and won the 2010 British Independent Film Award for Most Promising Newcomerfor the film In Our Name. She got Emmy nominations in 2012 and 2014 for Downton Abbey and a Golden Globe Best Actress in 2015
2015 Downton Abbey (2010) - Anna Smith
In fairness the producers of the show needed one character to be perfect in all possible ways, so you can't help falling in love with Anna. In fact if you don't react in exactly that way you need to go into analysis because you are reflexively rejecting the essential core values of our culture.- Actress

Odeya Rush was born and raised in Haifa, Israel with her six brothers. Her first role was Larry David's childhood friend in an episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Shortly after that, she starred in "The Odd Life of Timothy Green," then went on to do "The Giver" alongside Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep, and "Goosebumps" opposite Jack Black. At age 18, she wrote, directed, and starred in her own short film, "Thanks." Odeya recently starred in the Oscar-nominated "Lady Bird" directed by Greta Gerwig, and played a leading role in "Dumplin" alongside Jennifer Aniston. Odeya became a US citizen in 2018. This past year, she's written and directed two short-film-style music videos, and she hopes to continue to work behind the camera.2015 Goosebumps (2015) - Hannah
It's a look that kind of grows on you. Rush's eyes are incredible and Hannah gets a lot of wide-eyed closeups in this film.
Hannah was a perfect role because she plays to what Rush needs to emphasize physically; wholesome, westernized, de-emphasis of her lips. Hannah nicely illustrates how when Rush's exotic qualities are understated they are far more powerful.- Actress

Emma Roberts was born in Rhinebeck, New York. She was a baby when her parents separated, and she grew up living with her mother, Kelly Cunningham. She was educated at Archer School for Girls in Los Angeles, California.
Emma is the daughter of Oscar-nominated actor Eric Roberts, and the niece of Oscar-winner Julia Roberts. As a child she spent some time on the sets of movies with her aunt Julia. This helped Emma decide that she wanted to follow a career in acting. Her first movie role came in Blow (2001), where she played the daughter of Johnny Depp's character. Various small parts followed, until she was cast in the lead role of Addie Singer in Nickelodeon's "Unfabulous" (2004). Her performance lead to many award nominations as well as a foray into the music industry, including the release of an album, "Unfabulous and More".
More roles followed in various projects, including the eponymous heroine in Nancy Drew (2007), Hotel for Dogs (2009), 4.3.2.1. (2010) and Scream 4 (2011). In 2011, Emma began attending Sarah Lawrence College in New York, studying English Literature.2013 We're the Millers (2013) - Casey Mathis
Roberts is always cute - but has trouble moving her characters off sterile. Casey works for Roberts because she is a parody of edgy; and she works for a lot of male viewers because you have to suspend disbelief to buy into the edgy. For them the edgy part amps up her voltage but in a safe and comfortable way. Robert's best films employ her unique gift for parody, she does it as well as it has ever been done.
Casey Mathis: [On airplane, sitting next to Kenny. David is trying to appear normal, while introducing his "family" to the flight attendant] Yeah. I'm going through all those typical teenage girl issues, like finals and college applications and am I gonna get asked to prom?

She has a sister, Vanessa Johansson, who is also an actress, a brother, Adrian, a twin brother, Hunter Johansson, born three minutes after her, and a paternal half-brother, Christian. Her grandfather was writer Ejner Johansson.
Johansson began acting during childhood, after her mother started taking her to auditions. She made her professional acting debut at the age of eight in the off-Broadway production of "Sophistry" with Ethan Hawke, at New York's Playwrights Horizons. She would audition for commercials but took rejection so hard her mother began limiting her to film tryouts. She made her film debut at the age of nine, as John Ritter's character's daughter in the fantasy comedy North (1994). Following minor roles in Just Cause (1995), as the daughter of Sean Connery and Kate Capshaw's character, and If Lucy Fell (1996), she played the role of Amanda in Manny & Lo (1996). Her performance in Manny & Lo garnered a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Lead Female, and positive reviews, one noting, "[the film] grows on you, largely because of the charm of ... Scarlett Johansson", while San Francisco Chronicle critic Mick LaSalle commentated on her "peaceful aura", and wrote, "If she can get through puberty with that aura undisturbed, she could become an important actress."
After appearing in minor roles in Fall (1997) and Home Alone 3 (1997), Johansson garnered widely spread attention for her performance in The Horse Whisperer (1998), directed by Robert Redford, where she played Grace MacLean, a teenager traumatized by a riding accident. She received a nomination for the Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Most Promising Actress for the film. In 1999, she appeared in My Brother the Pig (1999) and in the music video for Mandy Moore's single, "Candy". Although the film was not a box office success, she received praise for her breakout role in Ghost World (2001), credited with "sensitivity and talent [that] belie her age". She was also featured in the Coen Brothers' dark drama The Man Who Wasn't There (2001), opposite Billy Bob Thornton and Frances McDormand. She appeared in the horror comedy Eight Legged Freaks (2002) with David Arquette and Kari Wuhrer.
In 2003, she was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards, one for drama (Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003)) and one for comedy (Lost in Translation (2003)), her breakout role, starring opposite Bill Murray, and receiving rave reviews and a Best Actress Award at the Venice Film Festival. Her film roles include the critically acclaimed Weitz brothers' film In Good Company (2004), as well as starring opposite John Travolta in A Love Song for Bobby Long (2004), which garnered her a third Golden Globe Award nomination.
She dropped out of Mission: Impossible III (2006) due to scheduling conflicts. Her next film role was in The Island (2005) alongside Ewan McGregor which earned weak reviews from U.S. critics. After this, she appeared in Woody Allen's Match Point (2005) and was nominated again for a Golden Globe Award. In May 2008, she released her album "Anywhere I Lay My Head", a collection of Tom Waits covers featuring one original song. Also that year, she starred in Frank Miller's The Spirit (2008), the Woody Allen film Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008), and played Mary Boleyn opposite Natalie Portman in The Other Boleyn Girl (2008).
Since then, she has appeared as part of an ensemble cast in the romantic comedy He's Just Not That Into You (2009), the action superhero film Iron Man 2 (2010), the comedy-drama We Bought a Zoo (2011) and starred as the original scream queen, Janet Leigh, in Hitchcock (2012). She then played her character, Black Widow, in the blockbuster action films The Avengers (2012), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019) and Black Widow (2021), and also headlined the sci-fi action thriller Lucy (2014), a box office success. With more than a decade of work already under her belt, Scarlett has proven to be one of Hollywood's most talented young actresses. Her other starring roles are in the sci-fi action thriller Ghost in the Shell (2017) and the dark comedy Rough Night (2017).
Scarlett and Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds were engaged in May 2008 and married in September of that year. In 2010, the couple announced their separation, and subsequently divorced a year later. In 2013, she became engaged to French journalist Romain Dauriac, the couple married a year later. In January 2017, the couple announced their separation, and subsequently divorced in March of that year. They have a daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac (born 2014). The couple divorced in September 2017.
She married Colin Jost in October 2020. They have one child, a son.2012 The Avengers (2012) - Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow
OK, it's the costume, the banter in the face of danger, and maybe Black Widow's comic book mystique; but at least one superheroine has to make this list.
Natasha Romanoff: Hey, fellas. Either one of you know where the Smithsonian is? I'm here to pick up a fossil.

Hannah Dakota Fanning was born on the 23rd of February 1994, in Conyers, Georgia, USA, to Heather Joy (Arrington) and Steven Fanning. Her mother played professional tennis, and her father, now an electronics salesman, played minor league baseball. She is of German, Irish, English, French, and Channel Islander descent. Before her debut into the cinematic world, Dakota did her own acting around her house. She was very active for her age, and often put a blanket under her shirt and pretended to be having a baby, using her younger sister, Elle Fanning, who is also an actress now, as the baby. Dakota went to a playhouse near her home, where the children that attended put on a play every week to show to their parents. But the people running the playhouse noticed that Dakota stood out, and advised her parents to take her to an agency. They believed that she was extremely talented.
The Fanning family were advised to spend six weeks in Los Angeles, a long way from their home in Georgia. But there Dakota managed to get her first work; to star in a national Tide commercial. She was chosen out of many, many other children.
The family then decided to move to Los Angeles permanently, for it looked like Dakota's career was looking very good. After they moved, Dakota signed with a professional agency, and soon won a role in the movie Tomcats (2001). She then went onto a small project called Father Xmas (2001) as Clairee.
But Dakota's big break-through was yet to come. She auditioned for one of the main characters in I Am Sam (2001), and the director and the rest of the crew were amazed by her extraordinary talent. Dakota was cast, and starred in the movie as Lucy Diamond Dawson, alongside major Hollywood stars Sean Penn and Michelle Pfeiffer.
After I Am Sam (2001) her talent was immediately recognized around the world. She went straight onto Trapped (2002) as Abby Jennings, alongside Charlize Theron, then played the younger version of Reese Witherspoon in 2002's Sweet Home Alabama (2002) But Dakota still had two more movies to come in 2002. Firstly she got a huge role in Steven Spielberg's Taken (2002), the mini-TV series, and narrated the ten whole episodes, as well as having a part. This was a little more challenging, as she was playing a troubled alien child, but she managed to do brilliantly. Her last movie for 2002 was the children's movie Hansel & Gretel (2002) as Katie.
2003 was also a brilliant year for Dakota, as she starred in a number of exciting projects. Firstly, it was as Sally Walden in The Cat in the Hat (2003) with Mike Myers, then she played Lorraine "Ray" Schleine, a bratty little girl, in the sweet comedy Uptown Girls (2003) alongside Brittany Murphy. She then voiced preschool Kim in Kim Possible: A Sitch in Time (2003).
In 2004, Dakota appeared in the violent thriller, Man on Fire (2004), alongside Denzel Washington. Her reviews were excellent.
First in 2005 was Nine Lives (2005), as Maria, then the chilling Hide and Seek (2005) alongside Robert De Niro. By now, she was the busiest child actress in Hollywood, with a resume to die for. Her younger sister, (Elle Fanning), had also been discovered a few years earlier.
After Hide and Seek (2005) came War of the Worlds (2005), which was one of her major movies out of everything she'd worked in. Not only did it make her more popular, but she got to play the daughter of A-list Hollywood actor Tom Cruise. They had four very successful premieres; the first in Tokyo, Japan, the second in France, the third in London, England and the fourth in New York, USA. The reviews were outstanding, especially Dakota's. She then voiced Lilo in Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch (2005).2012 The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (2012) - Jane Volturi
Evilness becomes her, the power of contrast. Who would have imagined the erotic goth quality that little Dakota can bring to the screen with a mega-severe hair style and exaggerated makeup. You can't take your eyes off her, the rest of the screen is just a fuzzy blend when she is in the frame.
And her sister (with the all-time best smile award) gets a honorable mention this year for gently playing "Lily Miska" in "We Bought A Zoo".- Actress

When Goglia played teen vamp Savannah you got the impression that she had no idea the erotic voltage her character created, something that seems to just come with the package. I suspect that her seeming unawareness was a major factor in this dynamic. Had she been conscious of the effortless sizzle she was creating it might have taken something away from process.- Actress

Blake Ellender Lively was born Blake Ellender Brown on August 25, 1987 in Los Angeles, California to Elaine Lively & Ernie Lively. Her brother is actor Eric Lively, and her half-siblings are actors Lori Lively, Robyn Lively and Jason Lively. She followed her parents' and siblings' steps. Her first role was Trixie, the Tooth Fairy in the musical movie Sandman (1998), directed by her father. Her big break came along a few years later, though. Blake was up to finish high school when she got the co-starring role of Bridget in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005).
Blake was so perfect for the role of Bridget that, with no big references or even auditioning, she landed the role. According to her, all she did was walk in and leave a photo of herself. It was clear that she was the Bridget needed. After the film, Blake went back to high school for her senior year to have the life of a regular teenager -- or a very busy regular teenager. She was class president, a cheerleader, and performed with the choir.2011 - Green Lantern (2011) - Carol Ferris
An actress who actually seems to be physically improving with age, nicely showcased by the wardrobe people and by the variety of looks Carol Ferris assumes; looking great in everything from buttoned down business attire, party gown, and flight suit. Her second-to-none body has always been her best asset but her face and intelligent eyes are nicely featured in extensive close-ups; helping the viewer connect with the character.- Actress

Karen Sheila Gillan was born and raised in Inverness, Scotland, as the only child of Marie Paterson and husband John Gillan, who is a singer and recording artist. She developed a love for acting very early on, attending several youth theatre groups and taking part in a wide range of productions at her school, Charleston Academy.
At age 16, Karen decided she wanted to pursue her acting career further and, studied under the renowned theatre director Scott Johnston at the Performing Arts Studio Scotland. She later attended the prestigious Italia Conti Academy in London. During her first year, she landed a role on Rebus (2000) and soon appeared in a variety of programs including Channel 4's Stacked (2008) and The Kevin Bishop Show (2008), as well as a two-year stint on the long-running series Doctor Who (2005). Karen also stars in the film Outcast (2010), starring James Nesbitt. Her most recent starring role is as Eliza Dooley on the situation comedy Selfie (2014).2010 The Eleventh Hour (2010) - Amy Pond
A bit of a game changer as Amy was the first character in several decades to take me into a higher than ever level of adulation.- Marley Eve Shelton was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in Eagle Rock, CA. She is the daughter of Carol (Stromme), a teacher and singer, and Christopher Shelton, who worked as a director and producer. She has three sisters: Koren Shelton, Erin Shelton and Samantha Shelton. Both of her parents were involved in local theater projects, but as a teen, Marley was never interested in life on the stage. While at Eagle Rock High School, she was a varsity cheerleader, was voted Prom Queen and held part-time jobs at stores like "Contempo" and "Wet Seal". Shelton first captured the attention of film-goers as "Margaret", Tobey Maguire's love interest, in New Line's critically-acclaimed film, Pleasantville (1998), and has continued to appear in roles that show her versatility as an actress, including in Jerry Bruckheimer's Eleventh Hour (2008) on CBS. Shelton attended UCLA, where she majored in Film and Theatre. She supported herself through small parts in feature films, television movies and episodic appearances. Her "hobby" grew into a passion while she studied acting with Larry Moss and, as a result, she decided to pursue a career as an actress. Shelton made her feature debut in Grand Canyon (1991). Since then, she has starred in numerous box office hits, including The Sandlot (1993), Never Been Kissed (1999), The Bachelor (1999), Valentine (2001), Sugar & Spice (2001), Bubble Boy (2001), Just a Kiss (2002), Uptown Girls (2003), Don't Come Knocking (2005), Sin City (2005), Grindhouse (2007), Nixon (1995), Warriors of Virtue (1997), A Perfect Getaway (2009), W. (2008), Women in Trouble (2009) and The Mighty Macs (2009), Elektra Luxx (2010), Scream 4 (2011) and Decoding Annie Parker (2013). Shelton resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Beau Flynn, and their two daughters.- 2009 Women in Trouble (2009) - Cora the Flight Attendent
The uniformed Shelton absolutely sizzles in this small role. Not much time to develop her character but this was such a dismal year that a little actual sizzle is enough to make the list. - Actress

Saoirse Una Ronan was born in The Bronx, New York City, New York, United States, to Irish parents, Monica Ronan (née Brennan) and Paul Ronan, an actor. When Saoirse was three, the family moved back to Dublin, Ireland. Saoirse grew up in Dublin and briefly in Co. Carlow before moving back to Dublin with her parents.

Saoirse received international fame after appearing in the movie, Atonement (2007), which was directed by Joe Wright. The movie co-starred Keira Knightley and James McAvoy. The film was successful, both critically and commercially, and in 2008, Saoirse earned an Oscar nomination for her role. She became one of the youngest actresses to be nominated for an Oscar. She continued to earn success and fame. Between 2008 to 2011, she starred in a number of successful movies, including City of Ember (2008), which earned her a nomination for Irish Film & Television Award, The Lovely Bones (2009), for which she was nominated for a BAFTA Award, and The Way Back (2010), for which she won Irish Film & Television Award for Actress in a Supporting Role. The youngest actress is Angela Lansbury. In 2018, Ronan was nominated for her third Oscar for Lady Bird (2017). She's the second youngest actress (first being Jennifer Lawrence) to receive three Oscar nominations before the age of 24.
Saoirse Ronan resides in London, United Kingdom.2008 - City of Ember (2008) - Lina Mayfleet
Earnest enthusiasm is what Lina is all about. Those are qualities I normally hate, but here it somehow comes together appealingly. Perhaps because the film is about a society that has become hopelessly burned out and Lina's vitality is a refreshing contrast. More likely it is because Ronan is able to somehow bring a nice balance of perkiness, wonder, and vulnerability to her character.- Actress

Evan Rachel Wood was born September 7, 1987, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her father, Ira David Wood III, is a theatre actor, writer and director, and her mother, Sara Wood, is an actress and acting coach. She has two older brothers--Dana Wood, a musician, and Ira David Wood IV, who has also acted. Evan and her brothers sometimes performed at Theatre In The Park in Raleigh, which her father founded and where he serves as executive director.
At the age of five she screen-tested against Kirsten Dunst for the lead role in Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994) after a long auditioning process. She moved to Los Angeles with her mom and brother Ira in 1996 and has had success ever since, appearing in a TV series, TV movies and feature films. She has appeared in Practical Magic (1998), starred in the comedy S1m0ne (2002) as Al Pacino's daughter, and followed that with Thirteen (2003), with Holly Hunter. Her breakout role as Tracy in "Thirteen" garnered her a Golden Globes nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture: Drama and for a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role. At the time of this SAG nomination, she was the youngest actress to be nominated in the Leading Role category. She received a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination for "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie" for her portrayal of Veda Pierce in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce (2011).
She also earned acclaim for her powerful performance as Stephanie, Mickey Rourke's estranged daughter, in Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler (2008).2007 King of California (2007) Miranda
2007 was quite a year, it gave us two of the most "uniquely" captivating female characters in cinema history. I ended up falling in love with Miranda on several levels when viewing this film, she is one of those characters that leave you disappointed that she is fictional. The key story element is the film's focus on Miranda's adaptive qualities and her father Charlie's stubborn refusal to adapt; it is the only significant difference between the two characters and introduces a lot of poignancy into the story because the quality they admire the most in each other is the one they do not share.
Physically Wood has never looked better, like Audrey Hepburn she is more dazzling with minimal makeup and everyday fashions - including a McDonald's uniform. She simply glows in the final sequence's extreme close-ups, standing on a bluff above the beach as she processes the predicted illegal landing of a group of Chinese boat people. And in this moment she totally sells the story, which at its core is simply the story of a father and daughter with a unqualified love for each other. Interestingly, Wood is so effective in this final sequence that she turns what in normal screenplay structure would be the aftermath, into the film's climatic moment; then they go out with the credits.- Actress

Her acting career began in 2007 when she competed in an open audition against nearly 15,000 girls, and won the coveted role of Luna Lovegood in the "Harry Potter" movie franchise. She appeared in four Harry Potter films and became a main character in the final two films in 2010 and 2011. She also voiced her character in their tie-in video games. She continues to pursue acting and does charity work for organizations such as the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland and The Harry Potter Alliance, of which she is a member of the Board of Advisors.2007 - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) - Luna Lovegood
Rowlings best character, a gently teased portrayal by Lynch. Quite irresistible, a nurturing airhead like Luna has by definition and design considerable depth and dimensionality.
Luna Lovegood: They're called Thestrals. They're quite gentle, really, but people avoid them, because they're a bit...
Harry Potter: Different.
Harry Potter: How come you're not at the feast?
Luna Lovegood: I've lost all my possessions. Apparently people have been hiding them.
Harry Potter: That's awful!
Luna Lovegood: Oh, it's all good fun. But as this is the last night, I really do need them back.
Harry Potter: Do you want any help finding them?
Luna Lovegood: I'm sorry about your godfather, Harry.
[clasps his hand comfortingly]
Harry Potter: Are you sure you don't want any help looking?
Luna Lovegood: That's all right. Anyway, my mum always said things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end.

In an April 2019 Reddit post, Maeve confirmed her engagement to actor Benjamin Wadsworth. Their daughter Jo Jezebel was born in January 2020.2007 Remember the Daze (2007) - Lightly
In "Remember the Daze", Lightly (I love that character name) and Bailey have a sweet and believable romance that is nicely sold by the way the two actors gently tease their roles. Each year in high school I recall romances where an incoming freshman girl pulled an older but less mature upperclassman out of his shell, but for some reason the dynamic has been neglected in films.- Actress

Sarah Chalke was born on 27 August 1976 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Her parents are Angie Chalke and Doug Chalke. She is the middle child, having one older sister, Natasha Chalke, and one younger, Piper Chalke. Sarah made her acting debut in a made-for-TV movie, City Boy (1992). In 1993, after her first film, she auditioned for the role of "Becky" on the TV series Roseanne (1988). The show was looking for a replacement after Alicia Goranson quit the show to go to college. Sarah graduated from high school in 1995, while shooting the 1994-1995 season of Roseanne (1988). Also, in 1994, Sarah co-starred in the film, Ernest Goes to School (1994), along with Jim Varney. Then, in 1996, she starred in 2 films, including Robin of Locksley (1996), and also Stand Against Fear (1996), where she played a cheerleader, "Krista Wilson". In 1998, a year after Roseanne (1988) ended, Sarah was asked to act in a show called Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy (1998). The show was based on the TV movie with the same name, Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy (1998), which Sarah was also in.2006 Scrubs (2001) - Dr. Elliott Reid
Arguably the most appealing television character of all-time. Crazy!- Alison Lohman was born in Palm Springs, California, to Diane (Dunham), a patisserie owner, and Gary Lohman, an architect. She grew up in a family with no showbiz connections but she always wanted to perform. By age 9, she had landed her first professional, theatrical role playing "Gretyl" in "The Sound of Music" at Palm Desert's McCallum Theater. At 11, Alison won the Desert Theater League's award for "Most Outstanding Actress in a Musical" for the title role in "Annie" and, by age 17, she had appeared in 12 different productions. An accomplished singer, she performed as a featured solo vocalist for Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope and the Desert Symphony. As a senior in high school, Alison was an awardee of the National Foundation of the Advancement of the Arts. The offer of a scholarship to NYU's Tisch School soon followed but, instead, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. She attended a session of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.2006 - Delirious (2006) - K'Harma Leeds
In case you never noticed, 2006 was arguably the worst year in the history of cinema, 4000+ feature film releases with virtually no female character even remotely intriguing. "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Monster House" were the only relatively mainstream films that blazed any new territory in the heroine department. Check out the nominees for the 2007 Academy Awards to see just how profoundly low the industry sunk in 2006.
Lohman's "K'Harma Leeds" character makes the list by simple default, less because of the character than for the stretch it was to cast Lohman in the role. This was playing against type to almost the same extent Elizabeth Hartman did in Coppola's "You're a Big Boy Now". When it works (and it does for both Hartman and Lohman) it brings a surreal depth to the character. - Actress

She splits her time between Los Angeles and the Bay Area.2004 Dead Like Me (2003) - Daisy Adair
Daisy is a good cure for heartbreak or even unrequited lover. Compared to her nobody is worth getting upset over. I did not have so strong a positive reaction to Daisy when I first watched "Dead Like Me" in 2004 but have since watched most of Sandra Dee's films, which seems to have predisposed me to Harris as there is a strong physical resemblance.- Fay Masterson was born on 15 April 1974 in Kent, England, UK. She is an actress, known for The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra (2001), The Quick and the Dead (1995) and Eyes Wide Shut (1999).2004 Pilot (2003) - Debra Wannamaker
It is probably a good thing very few women realize how sexy a woman who ruthlessly murders her husband can be. And Debra almost gets away with it. The classic scene is her on the witness stand giving testimony in court. Masterson is about as good as it gets, uniquely beautiful. For me at least a genuine game changer. - Stunts

Minneapolis native Rachael Leigh Cook began her career as a model at the tender age of 10, gracing Milk-Bone boxes and Target ads nationwide in the USA. She also appeared in a now-famous (in the USA) anti-drug TV spot in which, armed with a frying pan, she bashed her way through a kitchen to show the disastrous effects of heroin. At 14, her modeling agency sent her to read for a short film (26 Summer Street (1996)) and changed the course of her young life--from that moment on, Cook was hooked on acting. When she reached L.A. later that year, Cook bypassed the wannabe stage and nailed her first audition (for the part of a budding entrepreneur in The Baby-Sitters Club (1995)). She returned to theaters three months later in the Jonathan Taylor Thomas vehicle Tom and Huck (1995), then filled her calendar with appearances in independent and made-for-TV movies. She divided her time between Minneapolis and Tinseltown, shuttling from school events to movie shoots with her mother in tow. Cook's starlet status crystallized in 1999, when she starred opposite Freddie Prinze Jr. in the Pygmalion retelling She's All That (1999). Her on-screen transformation from ugly duckling to ravishing beauty scored several teen-oriented awards and made Cook a hot commodity in Hollywood. She signed for a handful of plum follow-up roles, including a troubled adolescent in Sylvester Stallone's Get Carter (2000), a frontier gal in Texas Rangers (2001), and the caterwauling lead in the live-action version of Josie and the Pussycats (2001). Cook now lives primarily in Los Angeles, but she returns home frequently to visit with friends and family. Her father, Tom (a former stand-up comic), is a social worker in the public school system, and her younger brother, Ben, is an aspiring filmmaker.2003 The Big Empty (2003) - Ruthie
Cook's characters have always been pretty and cute but mostly sterile. Ruthie requires her to go outside her range, going past flirtatious to erotic. In selling this character she is helped by a modern flower child hair style and wardrobe, along with some excellent dialogue which she delivers perfectly; all in the service of bringing out a side of her absent in her earlier portrayals. It is like the director carefully studied the actress and then crafted ways to coax out these qualities, even generating some of the two-way dynamic between film and viewer that characterizes most of the performances on this list.- Actress

She also was in Undercover Brother (2002) with Eddie Griffin and appeared in Scary Movie 3 (2003) with her now ex-husband, Charlie Sheen.2002 Undercover Brother (2002) - White She Devil
Richards' reality TV show and her increasingly plastic face hurt her ability to make this list as it is much more difficult to suspend disbelief regarding a full-on parody character like White She Devil. But her scenes in the white PVC outfit transcend the bubble bursting impact of her post 2002 career and get her on this list. This gentle and strangely classy parody of the fantasy elements of a decisive female catfight is quite a treat. Richards is so tightly squeezed into this costume that the viewer is quickly running on glands. There is even some bonus material of the sequence in the deleted scenes section of the DVD.- Actress

Natalie Portman is the first person born in the 1980s to have won the Academy Award for Best Actress (for Black Swan (2010)).
Natalie was born Natalie Hershlag on June 9, 1981, in Jerusalem, Israel. She is the only child of Avner Hershlag, an Israeli-born doctor, and Shelley Stevens, an American-born artist (from Cincinnati, Ohio), who also acts as Natalie's agent. Her parents are both of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. Natalie's family left Israel for Washington, D.C., when she was still very young. After a few more moves, her family finally settled in New York, where she still lives to this day. She graduated with honors, and her academic achievements allowed her to attend Harvard University. She was discovered by an agent in a pizza parlor at the age of 11. She was pushed towards a career in modeling but she decided that she would rather pursue a career in acting. She was featured in many live performances, but she made her powerful film debut in the movie Léon: The Professional (1994) (aka "Léon"). Following this role Natalie won roles in such films as Heat (1995), Beautiful Girls (1996), and Mars Attacks! (1996).
It was not until 1999 that Natalie received worldwide fame as Queen Amidala in the highly anticipated US$431 million-grossing prequel Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999). She then she starred in two critically acclaimed comedy dramas, Anywhere But Here (1999) and Where the Heart Is (2000), followed by Closer (2004), for which she received an Oscar nomination. She reprised her role as Padme Amidala in the last two episodes of the Star Wars prequel trilogy: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005). She received an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in Black Swan (2010).
She received a second nomination for Best Actress, for playing Jacqueline Kennedy in Jackie (2016).2002 - Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) Padmé Amidala
Casting Portman as the bland Padmé Amidala was a waste, she is a horribly depressing and sterile character. But put her in that tight white costume and give her some action sequences and the whole dynamic gets an injection of synergy. It's all about contrast amping up hotness.- Actress

The Craft (1996) was Tunney's first film lead though she has appeared in many supporting roles.2002 Cherish (2002) - Zoe Adler
You kind of fall in love with every character Robin plays but Zoe's characterization is a little more personal and in the face of a viewer; the whole film is centered on her with close-ups of her expressive face throughout the story. Zoe is the quintessential steamy computer geek, I don't know why girls like this are so often our favorite sex objects, but they are. She went on to hone her craft in workshop productions and worked on such stage projects as "Just Horrible," written by Nicholas Kazan, who later cast Bridget in his directorial debut, "Professional Man," an episode for The Edge (1989) series on HBO. She also starred in PBS's Jacob Have I Loved (1989) and in a segment of Aria (1987), a film composed of short works by 10 respected directors. Megan Denise Fox was born on May 16, 1986 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and raised in Rockwood, Tennessee to Gloria Darlene Tonachio (née Cisson), a real estate manager and Franklin Thomas Fox, a parole officer. She began her drama and dance training at age 5 and at age 10, she moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida where she continued her training and finished school. Megan began acting and modeling at age 13 after winning several awards at the 1999 American Modeling and Talent Convention in Hilton Head, South Carolina. At age 17, she tested out of school using correspondence and eventually moved to Los Angeles, California. Megan made her film debut as Brianna Wallace in the Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen film, Holiday in the Sun (2001). Her best-known roles are as Sam Witwicky's love interest, Mikaela Banes in Transformers (2007) and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), as April O'Neil in the remake Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and its sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016), and as Jennifer Check in the horror comedy Jennifer's Body (2009).2001 - Holiday in the Sun (2001) - Brianna Wallace
For a few Brianna Wallace was their introduction to Fox. When they later found out she was only fifteen they had to rethink a lot of things. Those who view the film after seeing Fox in tamer roles (basically anything she has done since) will miss some of the intensity of the experience. If you have a weak heart seeing Fox for the first time as bad girl Queen Bee Brianna is not advised.

Ziyi Zhang is a Chinese actress and model. She is best known for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), Rush Hour 2 (2001), Hero (2002), House of Flying Daggers (2004), and Memoirs of a Geisha (2005).
She made her feature film debut in The Road Home (1999).
For her work in Memoirs of a Geisha she was nominated for an Golden Globe for Best Actress.2001 - Rush Hour 2 (2001) - Hu Li
With the Brianna Wallace selection already making 2001 the year of the mega-bitch, it is only fair to include Hu Li on the list. This bad girl being the best ever example of the power of erotic contrast, as Ziyl's gentle beauty is completely at odds with her character's second to none mad dog persona; thereby amping up her desirability to a epic level. You go to your doom falling for this girl but if you have a pulse there is no way to resist. The fake smiles are especially compelling.
Hu Li: [watching Isabella while carving an apple with a knife] I do not trust her.
Triad: Our orders are to leave her alone.
Hu Li: [puts on a fake smile for Isabella, still speaking in Cantonese] I want to slice those pretty lips off her face. Bury her in the desert with those two cops.

From the adorably quirky Ann in State and Main, to a sister seeking justice in The Winslow Boy, to the tightly wound risk taker in The Spanish Prisoner, Rebecca Pidgeon has portrayed a wide range of multifaceted characters in both film, television and on the stage. In addition to the aforementioned films directed by David Mamet and also including Heist, starring alongside Gene Hackman, Pidgeon appeared alongside Helen Mirren, Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman in Red for director Robert Schwentke.
Pidgeon was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to British parents, Elaine R. (Simpson), a yoga teacher, and Carl R. Pidgeon, a professor then teaching at MIT. She spent much of her childhood in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her paternal grandmother's sister was visual artist Olga Lehmann, and Rebecca's ancestry is English, as well as Scottish, German, and French.
Pidgeon's television credits include Phil Spector for HBO, opposite Al Pacino and Jesse Stone: Sea Change for CBS, opposite Tom Selleck. She had recurring roles on the hit series The Unit for CBS and The Shield for F/X and played a regular role on In Justice for ABC. Rebecca did memorable turns in Uncle Vanya for The BBC and in Samuel Beckett's Catastrophe, opposite Sir John Gielgud and Harold Pinter for Channel 4.
Pidgeon played 'Deeny' in The Old Neighborhood on Broadway and 'Claire' in Boston Marriage at The Geffen Playhouse. She originated the role of 'Carol' in Oleanna Off-Broadway, which had it's World Premiere at The Orpheum Theatre. The character was described by one critic as "Mamet's most fully realized female character...a mousy, confused cipher". As a member of The Royal National Theatre in London, Rebecca received stellar notices for her work in Speed-the-Plow and The Changeling. She is also a member of The Atlantic Theatre Company, where she starred in Dangerous Corner. Rebecca is a graduate of London's prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
In addition to her accomplished career as an actress, Pidgeon is a singer/songwriter, whose latest album Slingshot has been nominated for a Grammy Award.
Rebecca is married to playwright/director David Mamet. Her children are Noah and Clara Mamet, an actress, and actress Zosia Mamet is her stepdaughter. Rebecca is a convert to Judaism.2000 State and Main (2000) - Annie
If I could have carefully crafted the one girl with whom I would fall in love, I would have created Annie. Watch the film and you will see what I mean.- Keri Lynn Pratt was born on 23 September 1978 in Concord, New Hampshire, USA. She is an actress, known for A Single Man (2009), America's Sweethearts (2001) and Drive Me Crazy (1999). She has been married to John Barneson since October 2011.2000 - Cruel Intentions 2 (2000) - Cherie Claymon
Like "Flash Gordon", this is a film where two of the supporting actresses (Pratt and Amy Adams) made you forget that the actress with the biggest part was even in the movie. But Pratt's portrayal of airhead Cherie was inspired and the riding scene in the park more memorable than any movie segment over the past two decades. Although in fairness the riding scene was made even better by the reaction shots of Adams. - Actress

Calista Kay Flockhart was born 11 November, 1964 in Freeport, Illinois. Her mother, Kay (Honohan), was a school teacher, and her father, Ronald Flockhart, worked for Kraft Foods Inc. She has Irish, Scottish, German, and English ancestry. Calista was named after her great-grandmother.
Flockhart attended Rutgers University in New Jersey to study acting. After college, she worked in regional theatre in Cleveland, Louisville, Chicago and Houston for $400 for eight weeks of work. In 1994, she got her first Broadway role playing "Laura" in Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie", for which she was recognized with the Theater World and Clarence Darwent Awards. She's also played in an all-star production of Anton Chekhov's "The Three Sisters" playing "Natasha". She wasn't too fond of TV before Ally McBeal (1997), but did take part in a 1992 episode of the HBO series Lifestories: Families in Crisis (1992). She did take part in many movies, but among them is the remake of The Birdcage (1996). Calista played the fiancée of Robin Williams's son. In 1997, she appeared in Telling Lies in America (1997) as the object of Brad Renfro's obsession.
Calista has established herself in New York, Chicago and elsewhere with an impressive stage and theater repertoire. She worked in the off-Broadway productions of "The Loop", "All for One", "Sophistry", "Wrong Turn at Lungfish", "Beside Herself" and "Bovver Boys". She also starred in non-NYC productions, such as "The Three Sisters" in Chicago, and "Our Town" and "Death Takes a Holiday" at the Williamstown Theater Festival.1999 A Midsummer Night's Dream (1999) - Helena
Helena quite possibly is the most challenging role out there for an actress. She is unrequited love on steroids who suddenly has her dreams come true. But on reflection cannot enjoy her good fortune because it is simply too good to be true. And she takes the knowing audience on a wild ride of sympathy as the declarations of love for her lead to resentment that her three friends have conspired to make sport of her. Flockhart absolutely nails it.- Actress

Kirsten Caroline Dunst is an American actress, who also holds German citizenship. She was born on April 30, 1982 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, to parents Inez (née Rupprecht), who owned an art gallery, and Klaus Dunst, a medical services executive. She has a younger brother named Christian Dunst, born in 1987. Her father is German, from Hamburg, and her mother, who is American, is of German and Swedish descent.
Her career began at the age of 3 when she started modeling and appearing in commercials. She made her feature film debut with an uncredited role at age 6 in the 'Oedipus Wrecks' segment of Woody Allen's 1989 film New York Stories (1989). She received her first film credit in The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990). Her family moved to Los Angeles in 1993, where her film career took off.
In 1994, she made her breakthrough performance in Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994), alongside such stars as Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination, the MTV Award for Best Breakthrough Performance and the Saturn Award for Best Young Actress. In 1995, she was named one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People. Over the next few years, she made a string of hit movies including Little Women (1994), Jumanji (1995) and Small Soldiers (1998).
In 2000, she received rave reviews for her role as "Lux Lisbon" in Sofia Coppola's independent film, The Virgin Suicides (1999) and proved her status as a leading actress in the comedy hit, Bring It On (2000). She also graduated from Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles in June of that year.
In 2002, she landed one of her best known roles as Peter Parker's love interest, Mary Jane Watson, in Spider-Man (2002). She continued her role in Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007).
She went on to land roles in such films as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), the romantic comedy Wimbledon (2004), and in Cameron Crowe's Elizabethtown (2005). She also played the title character in Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette (2006).

In 2012, she appeared in Walter Salles' film adaptation of On the Road (2012) and the independent comedy Bachelorette (2012). She also has several films in production, including The Two Faces of January (2014).
Her charity work includes designing a necklace to raise funds for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation as well as supporting various cancer charities.1999 - Dick (1999) - "Betsy Jobs"
This character has come to represent the quintessential high school airhead "hippie chick" of the early 70's. "Betsy" differs very little from the "Amber Atkins" character Dunst played in "Drop Dead Gorgeous" the same year. But each of these little differences favors Betsy and allows Dunst to subtly steal the film, something she did not do in the other film even though her part was much bigger (it is Britney Murphy's supporting character who steals that film - in large part because she got the more endearing traits of Betsy).
Betsy nicely illustrates an interesting phenomenon of films and television, sometimes an actor will come to represent a point in time that is not their own, being more associated with it than those who actually participated.
Betsy Jobs: Hey, that guy has T.P. stuck to his shoe.
Arlene Lorenzo: Hey, mister! Hey! Hey, you, hey turn around, mister!
G. Gordon Liddy: Young lady, I am a VERY busy man.
Arlene Lorenzo: Wait a minute, I know you.
Betsy Jobs: Me too. But from where?

Jennifer Love Hewitt was born in Waco, Texas, to Patricia Mae (Shipp), a speech-language pathologist, and Herbert Daniel Hewitt, a medical technician. She has English, Italian, French, Scottish, and German ancestry. She got her first name from her older brother Todd Daniel Hewitt (b. November 8, 1970), who picked the name after a little blonde girl on whom he'd had a crush. Her mother selected Jennifer's middle name, Love (which she goes by offstage), from her best college friend. Her parents separated when she was six months old and her mother raised her in Killeen, Texas.
Hewitt made her official performing debut at age 3 when she sang at a livestock show. At age 5, she was taking tap, jazz, and ballet lessons, which led to her joining the Texas Show Team, who toured the Soviet Union and Europe. When she was 10 her family moved to Los Angeles with encouragement from talent scouts, while Todd stayed behind to finish high school in Texas Jennifer quickly found commercial work and a role on Disney's Kids Incorporated (1984) in 1989. She went through a series of television flops before finally hitting it big on Party of Five (1994) in 1995.1998 Can't Hardly Wait (1998) - Amanda Beckett
Amanda works as a slightly off-kilter version of your high school fantasy girl because at that age Hewitt worked as a slightly off-kilter version of your fantasy heartthrob leading lady. Physically Hewitt wasn't quite what you would expect from somebody raising male hormone levels but she had something and it was at its peak in 1998. Then a couple years later she lost her youthful glow and with it any special something, so much so that you have to suppress your knowledge of how poorly she has aged in order to properly appreciate her when she was younger. So we easily fall in love with Amanda with each viewing and if we need a reality check we ponder the transitory nature of Hewitt's kind of good girl beauty.

Heather Joan Graham was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Joan (Bransfield), a schoolteacher and children's book author, and James Graham, an FBI agent. She and her sister, actress Aimee Graham, were raised by their strictly Catholic parents. They relocated often, as a result of their father's occupation, and Heather became increasingly shy. Surprisingly, she had a passion for acting from an early age and despite being labeled a 'theater geek' by her peers, she was voted Most Talented by her high school senior class. Unfortunately, her love of acting created a tension between Heather and her family although her mother obligingly drove her to auditions in Hollywood throughout her adolescence.
After high school Heather moved to Los Angeles and received small roles in a variety of films including Drugstore Cowboy (1989). When her career did not take off as quickly as was hoped, Heather enrolled in the University of California at Los Angeles to get her degree in drama. It was at UCLA that she was noticed by actor James Woods and received a subsequent part in a film Woods starred in, Diggstown (1992). Heather dropped out of UCLA after two years to pursue her acting career on a full time basis. Aside from gaining a modeling contract with Emanuel Ungaro Liberte, Heather has risen to star in such films as Swingers (1996), a role she received after being taken out swing dancing by Jon Favreau, to blockbusters like Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999), and Boogie Nights (1997).1998 - Lost in Space (1998) - Dr. Judy Robinson
Incredible wholesome beauty combined with acerbic dialogue and placed in a nerd girl package; simply impossible to resist. Leaves her television series counterpart in the dust.
Dr. Zachary Smith: My dear child, your mind is too young to accept all the harsh realities of life, yet I believe you should know the truth!
Judy Robinson: What truth?
Dr. Zachary Smith: That was not a dog - at least not in the sense of which we think of a dog. It was an alien spy!
Graham should also be mentioned for her role as Mercedes Lane ten years earlier; the hot high school chick who passes out in the backseat of the grandfather's car. Nobody has ever looked better with their unconscious face pressed against the glass of a car window.
1988 License to Drive (1988) Mercedes Lane
Although most likely the reason that Mercedes captured so many hearts was because the film managed to uniquely bring plausibility to the unobtainable girl falling for the nerd. Through her alcohol haze it is reasonable that Mercedes believes their wild first date adventures were by the design of the nerd rather than chance events set in motion by his milquetoast nature.- Marley Eve Shelton was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in Eagle Rock, CA. Shelton resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Beau Flynn, and their two daughters.

Julianne Moore was born Julie Anne Smith in Fort Bragg, North Carolina on December 3, 1960, the daughter of Anne (Love), a social worker, and Peter Moore Smith, a paratrooper, colonel, and later military judge. Her mother moved to the U.S. in 1951, from Greenock, Scotland. Her father, from Burlington, New Jersey, has German, Irish, Welsh, German-Jewish, and English ancestry.
Moore spent the early years of her life in over two dozen locations around the world with her parents, during her father's military career. She finally found her place at Boston University, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in acting from the School of the Performing Arts. After graduation (in 1983), She took the stage name "Julianne Moore" because there was another actress named "Julie Anne Smith". Julianne moved to New York and worked extensively in theater, including appearances off-Broadway in two Caryl Churchill plays, Serious Money and Ice Cream With Hot Fudge and as Ophelia in Hamlet at The Guthrie Theatre. But despite her formal training, Julianne fell into the attractive actress' trap of the mid-1980's: TV soaps and miniseries. She appeared briefly in the daytime serial The Edge of Night (1956) and from 1985 to 1988 she played two half-sisters Frannie and Sabrina on the soap As the World Turns (1956). This performance later led to an Outstanding Ingénue Daytime Emmy Award in 1988. Her subsequent appearances were in mostly forgettable TV-movies, such as Money, Power, Murder. (1989), The Last to Go (1991) and Cast a Deadly Spell (1991).
She made her entrance into the big screen with 1990's Tales from the Darkside: The Movie (1990), where she played the victim of a mummy. Two years later, Julianne appeared in feature films with supporting parts in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (1992) and the comedy The Gun in Betty Lou's Handbag (1992). She kept winning better and more powerful roles as time went on, including a small but memorable role as a doctor who spots Kimble Harrison Ford and attempts to thwart his escape in The Fugitive (1993). (A role that made such an impression on Steven Spielberg that he cast her in the Jurassic Park (1993) sequel without an audition in 1997). In one of Moore's most distinguished performances, she recapitulated her "beguiling Yelena" from Andre Gregory's workshop version of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya in Louis Malle's critically acclaimed Vanya on 42nd Street (1994). Director Todd Haynes gave Julianne her first opportunity to take on a lead role in Safe (1995). Her portrayal of Carol White, an affluent L.A. housewife who develops an inexplicable allergic reaction to her environment, won critical praise as well as an Independent Spirit Award nomination.
Later that year she found her way into romantic comedy, co-starring as Hugh Grant's pregnant girlfriend in Nine Months (1995). Following films included Assassins (1995), where she played an electronics security expert targeted for death (next to Sylvester Stallone and Antonio Banderas) and Surviving Picasso (1996), where she played Dora Maar, one of the numerous lovers of Picasso (portrayed by her hero, Anthony Hopkins). A year later, after co-starring in Spielberg's The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), opposite Jeff Goldblum, a young and unknown director, Paul Thomas Anderson asked Julianne to appear in his movie, Boogie Nights (1997). Despite her misgivings, she finally was won over by the script and her decision to play the role of Amber Waves, a loving porn star who acts as a mother figure to a ragtag crew, proved to be a wise one, since she received both Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations. Julianne started 1998 by playing an erotic artist in The Big Lebowski (1998), continued with a small role in the social comedy Chicago Cab (1997) and ended with a subtle performance in Gus Van Sant's remake of Psycho (1960). 1999 had Moore as busy as an actress can be.
As the century closed, Julianne starred in a number of high-profile projects, beginning with Robert Altman's Cookie's Fortune (1999) , in which she was cast as the mentally challenged but adorable sister of a decidedly unhinged Glenn Close. A portrayal of the scheming Mrs. Cheveley followed in Oliver Parker's An Ideal Husband (1999) with a number of critics asserting that Moore was the best part of the movie. She then enjoyed another collaboration with director Anderson in Magnolia (1999) and continued with an outstanding performance in The End of the Affair (1999), for which she garnered another Oscar nomination. She ended 1999 with another great performance, that of a grieving mother in A Map of the World (1999), opposite Sigourney Weaver.1997 The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) - Sarah Harding
A profoundly horrible film, Sarah is absolutely the only reason to watch. Moore is dazzling as the brainy scientist, at least in part because they wisely choose to show her face in extreme close-up. She is dressed for lost world exploration, her make-up is minimal her hair is in a ponytail, and she absolutely glows in this role. Sarah is the best physical showcase of Moore's extensive career.- Actress

Katherine Marie Heigl was born on November 24, 1978 in Washington, D.C., to Nancy Heigl (née Engelhardt), a personnel manager, and Paul Heigl, an accountant and executive. Her father is of German/Swiss-German and Irish descent, and her mother is of German ancestry. A short time after her birth, the family moved to New Canaan, Connecticut, where Katherine was to spend the majority of her childhood; the youngest member of her family, Katherine--or "Katie" as she is nicknamed--has two elder siblings, John and Meg. Tragically, her older brother Jason died in 1986 of brain injuries suffered in a car accident, after being thrown from the back of a pickup truck. When doctors determined he was brain-dead, the family made the difficult decision to donate his organs. Not only did this painful chapter give Katherine a greater perspective and appreciation for life, but it motivated her to use her celebrity to promote the importance of organ donation.
Katherine was first thrust into the limelight as a child model. An aunt, visiting the family in New Canaan, took a number of photographs of Katherine, then aged nine, in a series of poses to advertise a hair care product she had invented. Upon returning to New York, with permission from Katherine's parents, she sent the photos to a number of modeling agencies. Within a few weeks, Katherine had been signed to Wilhelmina, a renowned international modeling agency. Almost immediately, she made her debut in a magazine advertisement and soon followed this with an inaugural television appearance in a national commercial for Cheerios breakfast cereal.
Following a number of commercials and modeling assignments for Sears and Lord & Taylor, she made her big-screen debut in That Night (1992), which starred Juliette Lewis and C. Thomas Howell. It was then that she realized that acting rather than modeling was her passion. In 1993, Katherine appeared in Steven Soderbergh's critically-acclaimed Depression-era drama, King of the Hill (1993), before landing her first leading role as a rebellious teenager, alongside Gérard Depardieu, in My Father the Hero (1994). During this time, Katherine continued to attend New Canaan High School, balancing her academic studies with work on films and modeling, which she undertook during holidays, vacations and weekends.
In 1995, she played "Sarah Ryback", the niece of Steven Seagal's character, in Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995), which was her "debut" in the action film genre. Acting was now becoming a stronger focus for Katherine, although she still modeled extensively, appearing regularly in magazines such as "Seventeen". Television appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (1992) and Late Night with Conan O'Brien (1993) soon followed, before she took the lead role in Disney's Wish Upon a Star (1996) in 1996. It was also during that year that Katherine's parents divorced and, following her graduation from high school in 1997, she moved with her mother into a four-bedroom house in Los Angeles' Malibu Canyon area. This enabled her to focus upon acting with the guidance and support of her mother, who now managed her career.
In 1997, Katherine portrayed "Taffy Entwhistle", Rita Hayworth's stand-in, in Stand-ins (1997) and was also cast as the beauteous "Princess Ilene" in the European production, Prince Valiant (1997). She then made her made-for-TV movie debut, co-starring with Peter Fonda in a re-working of the classic Shakespearean play, The Tempest (1998), updated with an American Civil War theme. In this film, she played "Miranda Prosper", a young woman torn between her love for both her father and a Union soldier. Bug Buster (1998) and Bride of Chucky (1998) represented a venture into the horror genre for Katherine. While both films could be described as rather tongue-in-cheek despite their gory emphases, Bride of Chucky (1998) was the better received, both critically and commercially.
In 1999, Katherine decided to branch out into series television when she accepted the role of the haughty, yet vulnerable, "Isabel Evans", on Roswell (1999), a show that blended teen angst with sci-fi drama. Though she had never planned to embark on a career in television, the role of Isabel, a teenager with a secret life, was an offer she found impossible to refuse. In the series, Isabel, her brother Max (Jason Behr) and their friend Michael (Brendan Fehr) are aliens passing as humans in Roswell, New Mexico, as they desperately try to hide the truth from government agencies, the people of Roswell and even their own adopted families. To publicize her role on the show, Katherine graced the covers of magazines such as "TV Guide", "Maxim" and "Teen" and was interviewed on Later (1994) and The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn (1999). Along with her mother Nancy, she also appeared in an episode of the Sci-Fi TV talk show, Crossing Over with John Edward (2001), during which she spoke with John Edward, a psychic medium, about her late brother, Jason. During the three years Roswell (1999) was in production, Katherine found time to work on several movies. 100 Girls (2000), an independent film released in 2001, is the story of a college freshman who meets the girl of his dreams in an elevator during a blackout, and spends the rest of the movie trying to find her again. Her cameo role is that of Arlene, the competitive tomboy. The second film, Valentine (2001), a horror film starring David Boreanaz and Denise Richards, appeared in U.S. theaters on February 2, 2001. In this movie, which is based upon the 1996 novel by Tom Savage, Katherine plays "Shelley", a medical student who meets a sudden demise.
In the spring of 2001, Katherine accepted a role in NBC's Critical Assembly (2002), a two-hour original television thriller. Katherine and Kerr Smith (Dawson's Creek (1998)) co-starred as brilliant and politically concerned college students who build a nuclear device to illustrate the need for a change in national priorities, but are betrayed by a fellow student when the bomb ends up in the hands of a terrorist. Unfortunately, the telefilm, directed by Eric Laneuville, written by Tom Vaughan, and based on the best-seller "The Seventh Power" by James Mills, was shelved when its storyline was deemed too close for comfort to the events of September 11, 2001. It was eventually broadcast in 2003. Since the cancellation of Roswell (1999) in the spring of 2002, Katherine has been busy with various projects, including an appearance on UPN's update of the classic television series, The Twilight Zone (2002). That episode, entitled Cradle of Darkness (2002), aired on October 2, 2002, and featured Katherine in the role of a woman who goes back in time to stop one of the most notorious murders in history. In addition, she completed a movie, Descendant (2003), a psychological thriller inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher". She has also starred as "Romy" in ABC/Touchstone's two-hour telepic, Romy and Michele: In the Beginning (2005), a prequel to the 1997 feature, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion (1997). During the summer of 2002, Katherine made a major decision in the direction of her career when she signed on for representation in all areas with the William Morris Agency, one of the biggest and most prestigious agencies in the entertainment industry. She is now being represented by Norman Aladjem at Paradigm Agency and being managed by Nancy Heigl and Stephanie Simon and Jason Newman at Untitled Entertainment.1996 Wish Upon a Star (1996) - Alexia & Hayley Wheaton
Heigl didn't have it for long but she certainly had it here. It is difficult today to realize that she ever looked so luscious. What makes this unique is the erotic contrast created between the fashion conscious Alexia and the generally disheveled Alexia when inhabited by Hayley. Which seems to tap into some primal dynamic.- Leah Lail became interested in acting when her father took her to see "A Chorus Line" on Broadway. Raised on a horse farm just outside Lexington, Kentucky, the younger of two sisters, Lail grew up as an animal lover and an avid reader. Her father is in road construction, while her mother raised horses. At age 18, Lail started college as a political science major and received a scholarship to work and study for the Social Democratic Party in Bonn, the former West German capital. Lail transferred to the University of Southern California where she graduated summa cum laude with degrees in German and theater, with a minor in political science. As she took more acting classes, including a stint at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York, she began to win roles on stage and television. One of her breakthrough roles was as Hank Kingsley's wife on HBO's "The Larry Sanders Show".1995 Wurst Enemies (1995) - Jessica/Gretchen
Funny thing, sometimes these played for laughs seduction scenes turn out to be extremely erotic. Leah suddenly has you rethinking her characters sizzle qualities as the full extent of her duplicity is revealed after she has her quarry in a vulnerable position. - Actress

Kristina Wagner is an American actress who was born on October 30, 1962 in Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduating from high school, her love of acting and dance led her to the local university to enroll as a theater major. While attending I.U.P.U.I in Indianapolis, she appeared in television commercials. At the age of 22, she landed her first acting job in Chicago and went straight to Los Angeles to work for the ABC long-running serial, General Hospital (1963). In 2006, she went back to college and enrolled as a history major at California State University Northridge. After graduation, Kristina directed, wrote, and produced her first historical documentary, Children of Internment (2013), with her brother, Joe Crump. In 2014, Kristina joined the cast of Hallmark's, When Calls the Heart (2014). She plays the role of "Nora Avery". Paula Marshall was born on 12 June 1964 in Rockville, Maryland, USA. She is an actress and producer, known for Gary Unmarried (2008), Cupid (1998) and Californication (2007). She has been married to Danny Nucci since 12 October 2003. They have one child. She was previously married to Tom Ardavany.1993 A Perry Mason Mystery: The Case of the Wicked Wives (1993) - Debra Walters
This was the first time I saw Paula Marshall and this bad girl character hit me like a ton of bricks. Nothing Marshall has done since has had the connective power that I experience when viewing her in this role. Nor have I experienced anything like the degree of protectiveness that I feel toward this character. I found it inexplicable at the time but cannot deny that I continue to feel this way with each viewing; it is something close to rapture and very pleasant.- 1993 Terminator Woman (1993) - Myra Bolo
A rather horrible South African martial arts film becomes absolutely sizzling whenever this South African actress slinks onto the screen. The plot is impossible to follow but Myra is the curvy but duplicitous secretary of the good guy police sergeant. The over-dressed Myra is totally out of place but it simply does not matter. WOW!

Emma Samms was born on 28 August 1960 in London, England, UK. She is an actress and writer, known for General Hospital (1963), Dynasty (1981) and Goliath Awaits (1981). She has been married to Simon McCoy since 9 October 2021. She was previously married to John Holloway, Tim Dillon and Bansi Nagji.1991 Delirious (1991) Rachel Hedison / Laura Claybourne
Her career best performance, a dual role in which her two characters are purposely indistinguishable. She seemed to have a lot of fun with it. There are two especially memorable erotic scenes, the first when she carefully gets out of her car wearing a tight yellow leather pencil dress and the second when she sighs after being rescued at the end of the chase segment.
There really seemed to be an effort made to contrast her 5'4" curvy frame with that of the more willowy Mariel Hemingway. Despite what is normally believed I think we are predisposed to prefer what Samms brings to the table, 5'4", curvy - muscular with a narrow waist. It has an unchallenged niche in the mega-sizzle department.- Actress

Jennifer Connelly was born in the Catskill Mountains, New York, to Ilene (Schuman), a dealer of antiques, and Gerard Connelly, a clothing manufacturer. Her father had Irish and Norwegian ancestry, and her mother was from a Jewish immigrant family. Jennifer grew up in Brooklyn Heights, just across the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan, except for the four years her parents spent in Woodstock, New York. Back in Brooklyn Heights, she attended St. Ann's school. A close friend of the family was an advertising executive. When Jennifer was ten, he suggested that her parents take her to a modeling audition. She began appearing in newspaper and magazine ads (among them "Seventeen" magazine), and soon moved on to television commercials. A casting director saw her and introduced her to Sergio Leone, who was seeking a young girl to dance in his gangster epic Once Upon a Time in America (1984). Although having little screen time, the few minutes she was on-screen were enough to reveal her talent. Her next role after that was an episode of the British horror anthology TV series Tales of the Unexpected (1979) in 1984.
After Leone's movie, horror master Dario Argento signed her to play her first starring role in his thriller Phenomena (1985). The film made a lot of money in Europe but, unfortunately, was heavily cut for American distribution. Around the same time, she appeared in the rock video "I Drove All Night," a Roy Orbison song, co-starring Jason Priestley. She released a single called "Monologue of Love" in Japan in the mid-1980s, in which she sings in Japanese a charming little song with semi-classical instruments arrangement. On the B-side is "Message Of Love," which is an interview with music in background. She also appeared in television commercials in Japan.
She enrolled at Yale, and then transferred two years later to Stanford. She trained in classical theater and improvisation, studying with the late drama coach Roy London, Howard Fine, and Harold Guskin.
The late 1980s saw her starring in a hit and three lesser seen films. Amongst the latter was her roles in Ballet (1989), as a ballerina and in Some Girls (1988), where she played a self-absorbed college freshman. The hit was Labyrinth (1986), released in 1986. Jennifer got the job after a nationwide talent search for the lead in this fantasy directed by Jim Henson and produced by George Lucas. Her career entered in a calm phase after those films, until Dennis Hopper, who was impressed after having seen her in "Some Girls", cast Jennifer as an ingénue small-town girl in The Hot Spot (1990), based upon the 1950s crime novel "Hell Hath No Fury". It received mixed critical reviews, but it was not a box office success.
The Rocketeer (1991), an ambitious Touchstone super-production, came to the rescue. The film was an old-fashioned adventure flick about a man capable of flying with rockets on his back. Critics saw in "Rocketeer" a top-quality movie, a homage to those old films of the 1930s in which the likes of Errol Flynn starred. After "Rocketeer," Jennifer made Career Opportunities (1991), The Heart of Justice (1992), Mulholland Falls (1996), her first collaboration with Nick Nolte and Inventing the Abbotts (1997). In 1998, she was invited by director Alex Proyas to make Dark City (1998), a strange, visually stunning science-fiction extravaganza. In this movie, Jennifer played the main character's wife, and she delivered an acclaimed performance. The film itself didn't break any box-office record but received positive reviews. This led Jennifer to a contract with Fox for the television series The $treet (2000), a main part in the memorable and dramatic love-story Waking the Dead (2000) and, more important, a breakthrough part in the polemic and applauded independent Requiem for a Dream (2000), a tale about the haunting lives of drug addicts and the subsequent process of decadence and destruction. In "Requiem for a Dream," Jennifer had her career's most courageous, difficult part, a performance that earned her a Spirit Award Nomination. She followed this role with Pollock (2000), in which she played Pollock's mistress, Ruth Klingman. In 2001, Ron Howard chose her to co-star with Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind (2001), the film that tells the true story of John Nash, a man who suffered from mental illness but eventually beats this and wins the Nobel Prize in 1994. Jennifer played Nash's wife and won a Golden Globe, BAFTA, AFI and Oscar as Best Supporting Actress. Connelly continued her career with films including Hulk (2003), her second collaboration with Nick Nolte, Dark Water (2005), Blood Diamond (2006), The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008), He's Just Not That Into You (2009) and Noah (2014), where she did her second collaboration with both Darren Aronofsky and Russell Crowe and made her third collaboration with Nick Nolte in that same film.
Jennifer lives in New York. She is 5'7", and speaks fluent Italian and French. She enjoys physical activities such as swimming, gymnastics, and bike riding. She is also an outdoors person -- camping, hiking and walking, and is interested in quantum physics and philosophy. She likes horses, Pearl Jam, SoundGarden, Jesus Jones, and occasionally wears a small picture of the The Dalai Lama on a necklace. Her favorite colors are cobalt blue, forest green, and "very pale green/gray -- sort of like the color of the sea". She likes to draw.1991 - Career Opportunities (1991) - Josie McClellan

Shannen Doherty was born in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, on April 12, 1971, to Rosa Doherty (Wright) and Tom Doherty. Her father worked in a bank, while her mother owned a beauty parlor. She has an older brother, Sean B. Doherty. Her ancestry includes Irish, English, Scottish, and French. In 1978, at the tender age of seven, she and her family moved to Los Angeles, where her father started a West Coast branch of the family transportation business. She knew she wanted to pursue an acting career when she made her acting debut at age ten, with a role on the series Father Murphy (1981).
Shannen was a confident student, involving herself in school performances and working hard in school, making sure she always had exceptional grades. Despite her confidence she isolated herself from large crowds and preferred to few close friends. She made a name for herself as a child actress at just 11-years-old, starring in Little House on the Prairie (1974) as Jenny Wilder. It was Michael Landon who noticed her performance in an episode of Father Murphy (1981) that he decided to cast her. She then went on to appear in Our House (1986) with Deidre Hall and Wilford Brimley. She also starred alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt in Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985) and then in Heathers (1988), a teen comedy also starring Winona Ryder.
Her real success came in 1990, at the age of 19, when she was cast in Aaron Spelling's long-running hit series, Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990) as Brenda Walsh, the twin sister of Brandon Walsh, played by Jason Priestley. She attracted media attention from the press and eventually made her a household name. The success of the popular teen drama appealed to young teenage girls who could relate to her character. After four years she left the show in 1994. Afterward, she continued her work in movies, starring in the thriller Almost Dead (1994) and the comedy Mallrats (1995).
During the fall of 1998, she reunited with long-time producer Aaron Spelling, when she was cast as Prue Halliwell on Charmed (1998), a show about three ordinary women who happen to be witches. She starred alongside Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs. After three years she left the show to find work in movies. Before her departure from the show she directed three of the last episodes in which she starred. She continued her work in movies by starring in Another Day (2001), The Rendering (2002), Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay (2002), and View of Terror (2003). In 2003, she hosted season one of Scare Tactics (2003) as well as season two with only 8 episodes and then left to pursue other endeavors.
In the fall of 2004, Shannen made her return to television on Fox's drama series North Shore (2004), where she played Alexandra Hudson, the long-lost sister of Nicole Booth, played by Brooke Burns. The show was canceled after one season. Then in 2005 she landed the role of Denise Johnson on the UPN series Love, Inc. (2005); however, after the pilot episode she was dropped from the sitcom. From there she has ventured into new projects and in 2006 she starred in her own reality series, Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty (2006).1989 Heathers (1988) - Heather Duke
Doherty was absolutely dazzling at this age and her character perfectly costumed to showcase it. What makes it onto the screen is classic sizzle. You knew that it could not last but that it was as close to female physical perfection as anyone had ever or would ever come.- Sydney Walsh was born on 6 June 1961 in New York City, New York, USA. Her debut Hollywood film was break out hit Willow and in 2005, Joanne returned to UK television with the BBC thriller Child of Mine, before going on to film roles including Queen Mary in The Virgin Queen, and a starring role in tragic love drama Life Line. She appeared as Lorelei in the comedy The Man Who Knew Too Little, A Texas Funeral, The Guilty and played Jackie Kennedy in the miniseries Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. Her more recent film roles include 44 Inch Chest with Ray Winstone and Tom Wilkinson and Francis Ford Coppola's Twixt. Other recent television credits include Gossip Girl, The Borgias for Showtime, Jamaica Inn with Sean Harris, Wolf Hall for the BBC and ITV's rendition of Beowulf. Joanne also starred as The Duchess of Burgundy in Starz series The White Princess. Other feature releases include Muse and the Untitled Apostle Paul project, directed by Andrew Hyatt.1988 Willow (1988) - Sorsha
Sorsha was as captivating as any film character. Although a lot of that was what the then 27-year-old Whalley brought to the table physically, there was also a lot to like about the character herself. Buried throughout what is otherwise a moronic exercise in low-budget torture are short vignettes between the hotel manager and his secretary Miss Walsh (Laurah Guillen). These inspired scenes feature their active costume and fantasy sex life. Despite their almost nonstop silly coupling, the two characters never call each other by their first names; maintaining the executive - secretary formality as they do erotic takeoffs on "The Wizard of Oz", "Star Trek", "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "Snow White", and "Jaws".

Mariel Hemingway was born on 22 November 1961 in Mill Valley, California, USA. She is an actress and producer, known for Manhattan (1979), Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) and The Sex Monster (1999). She was previously married to Stephen Crisman.1987 Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) - Lacy Warfield
Easily the best of 1987 and one of those rare cases where a single character redeemed a whole movie, where one unlikely casting choice made everything else about a bad movie irrelevant and turned it into a must see film. Although Hemingway was breathtakingly beautiful her acting was only slightly better than that of Kathy Ireland. What made her unusual was that she was uniquely without sex appeal - an amazing combination but one that made her perfect for this role.
Because Lacy is all about the erotic power of contrast; a gangly good girl geek poured into a sequined "come get me" dress (perhaps the hottest outfit in cinema history). Some odd synergy occurs from this contrast that takes Lacy past the maximum on any hotness scale, illustrating that not just bad girls can create this dynamic. Lacy renders Lois Lane dowdy and irrelevant. It must have been a painful process for Margot Kidder.- Actress

Helen Slater was born in Bethpage, New York, to Alice Joan (Citrin), a lawyer and peace activist, and Gerald Slater, a television executive. She was raised in Massapequa, Long Island, New York, and is of Eastern European Jewish descent. Appearing in many shows as a child, she attended the New York High School of Performing Arts, graduating in 1982. Having made her acting debut in Amy & the Angel (1982), co-starring with James Earl Jones and Matthew Modine. Helen took her career very seriously. Within months of her graduation, she attended auditions for the upcoming spin-off of the famous Superman (1978) franchise, Supergirl (1984). It was to be shot in England at Pinewood Studios, where the first "Superman" movies were filmed. Slater even spoke to Christopher Reeve about playing a superhero to assure herself she could do it. After being the first to present herself for audition, she was cast as the lead in the film and her career took off. Although Supergirl (1984) received mixed reviews, most critics were impressed with Helen's abilities. In fact, the critics' consensus was that she did a better job at keeping a secret identity (a mousy schoolgirl) than Reeve did as Clark Kent. In her next film, she was cast as a modern-day "Joan of Arc" in The Legend of Billie Jean (1985) with Yeardley Smith and Peter Coyote. The film, though not particularly successful, has managed to attract a somewhat cult following. She next appeared in one of her best-received roles, that of the female half of the bumbling husband-and-wife team that kidnaps Bette Midler in the comic blockbuster, Ruthless People (1986), and scored again in the hit The Secret of My Success (1987). Both roles helped to cement her status as an actress of note. Next, she and her friend, Melanie Mayron, starred in the feminist comedy, Sticky Fingers (1988), a critical but not financial success. It was in this film and her next, Happy Together (1989), that she was able to prove that she could do comedy as well as drama. She went on to do more feature films such as City Slickers (1991), A House in the Hills (1993) and Lassie (1994), before making regular appearances on television. Her regional stage credits include appearances in such plays as "Grease" and "Shakespeare and Friends". On Broadway, she starred in "Responsible Parties" and "Almost Romance". She also attended classes at both NYU and UCLA, trying to broaden her acting abilities. On television, she has appeared in Caroline in the City (1995), as well as many others. She also became a spokeswoman for Preference by L'Oreal in both TV and print ads. She is an accomplished pianist and now has an album out called "One of These Days". She co-founded the New York theater group, The Naked Angels, with her friend Gina Gershon. In 1990, she married award-winning editor Robert Watzke and they have a daughter, born in 1995. She stepped out of the limelight for a couple of years, appearing mainly in the occasional TV show, but came back strong in 2003, showing moviegoers and TV audiences how great an entertainer she really is.1986 - Ruthless People (1986) - Sandy Kessler

Mare attended Chatsworth High School with Val Kilmer, James Rekart and Kevin Spacey, but she was bitten by the acting bug much earlier on. She had enjoyed drama and music since primary school, taking a particular interest in the guitar and drums.
Since St. Elmo's Fire (1985), Mare has played some outstanding roles in a number of big films. She starred in the Tom Hanks comedy Turner & Hooch (1989). She has also starred in two feature films with Kevin Costner, The War (1994) and the western Wyatt Earp (1994), the latter directed by Lawrence Kasdan and co-starring Gene Hackman. Mare won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for her role opposite Jennifer Jason Leigh in Georgia (1995).

She went on to play "Cassie Callison" on One Life to Live (1968), and appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show (1986) as one of daytime's most popular stars. She has appeared in films opposite Adrien Brody, Scott Caan, Mark Hamill and Eric McCormack. She starred in the cult classic, Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985), as the conniving nasty "Natalie Sands". An accomplished professional dancer, Holly did all her own dancing in the film. Holly was a series regular on Baywatch (1989) (you won't find her in a bathing suit though, she was the quirky performance artist "Gina Pomeroy"), recurring roles on Middle Ages (1992), Pacific Blue (1996) and as a young teen, opposite Lynn Redgrave, on House Calls (1979). Kelli Maroney is an American actress whose career spans several decades, with 72 production credits, including 31+ films and over 540 hours of television. She first came to recognition as the bad seed Lolita "Kimberly Harris" in the ABC Daytime drama Ryan's Hope, winning the plum role only two weeks after arriving in NYC to attend classes at The National Shakespeare Company Conservatory. She soon found herself acting opposite the likes of Joan Fontaine and Christopher Reeve as they made guest appearances on the show. She went on to take over the role of sex-kitten manipulator "Tina Lord" on ABC's One Life to Live. Kelli also gained notice for her portrayal of the exasperated cheerleader "Cindy Carr/Spirit Bunny" in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, a film that for many epitomized the 80s. Today Kelli's cheerleader costume is on display in the Universal Studios Museum. Strong female leading roles, notably MAC-10-toting cheerleader "Samantha Belmont" in the zombie apocalypse classic Night of The Comet, the sweet Killbot-slaying "Alison Parks" in Choppin Mall, "Jamie" in the underground slasher The Zero Boys, teen psychotic-killer "Jolene" in Slayground, and several other well-received films quickly earned Kelli her seat at the table as a Final Girl in the horror genre. She also guest-starred in a variety of prime-time ABC, NBC, and CBS shows, including the ever-popular Murder, She Wrote. Kelli has said that her most fulfilling role to date is the schizophrenic femme fatale "Merrie/Meredith" in Showtime's noir thriller Face Down (written and directed by Night of the Comet's Thom Eberhardt), playing opposite Joe Mantegna, J.K. Simmons, and Adam Ant. Other streaming highlights include Kelli's channeling Tammy Faye Baker on HBO's True Blood and playing herself in Adult Swim's Tim and Eric's Awesome Show-Great Job! alongside Patrick Duffy. Current on-demand films include Scare Package II on Shudder, The Wild Man, and Exorcism at 60,000 Feet (with horror icons Lance Henriksen, Adrienne Barbeau, and Bill Moseley), The Deep Ones (a modernized film adaptation of an H.P. Lovecraft story) Night Caller, (the 70s-inspired shocker with Steve Railsback and Lew Temple), and Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-o-Rama II. Slated for release in 2023 include The Wild Man, Scalper, The Old Ones, and Staycation, a film in which she both appears and has a co-producer credit. Kelli's first job as executive co-producer was the 1999 festival award-winning short film Sam and Mike (in which she also co-starred). The experience ignited her love of film festivals, and she remains deeply committed to championing independent filmmakers. Her work from 2019 to the present has garnered festival awards in and for short films and full-length features which include Best Actress (Kelli Maroney) Best Ensemble Cast, Best Film, and other department-specific awards for creative teams. Kelli is featured in CNN's The Movies: The 80s! She is also interviewed in six documentaries: In Search of Darkness: I, II, and III; Time Warp: The Greatest Cult Films of All Time; Direct to Video: A Study of the Independent Film Scene of the 1990s; and Mental Health and Horror: A Documentary, debuting in 2023. Cynthia Rhodes is a retired American actress, singer and dancer. Her film roles include Tina Tech in Flashdance (1983), Jackie in Staying Alive (1983), officer Karen Thompson in Runaway (1984), and Penny in Dirty Dancing (1987). Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Rhodes began her show business career working at Opryland USA as a singer and dancer while attending Glencliff High School during the 1970s. Raised in a Baptist family, Rhodes tried to maintain a clean-cut image in her acting roles and in the media, turning down scripts that required nudity and refusing offers to pose for pictorials in Playboy magazine. Sylvester Stallone, the director of Staying Alive, stated that Rhodes "would sooner quit the business before doing anything to embarrass her parents."1984 Runaway (1984) - Karen Thompson
Rhodes had a short career and a limited number of films; most notable being her dripping wet number in "Flashdance". She typically played the "taken for granted" good girl. "Runaway's" Officer Karen Thompson was such a character, but her combination of tight police uniform hotness and gritty toughness transcended the buddy picture dynamic and simply left you dazzled. "Runaway" is an entertaining action-adventure / sci-fi film with a great villain, a likeable hero, and a sexy bad girl; but good girl Officer Thompson is the film's most memorable element.- Actress

Meg Tilly was set on being a dancer, and at 17 connected to the Connecticut Ballet Company and later Throne Dance Theatre. It was in this capacity that she had her screen debut in Alan Parker's Fame (1980). Unfortunately, an injury to her back cut short her plans for a dance career, and a small appearance in the TV series Hill Street Blues (1981) turned her towards acting (her dancing skills were not all forgotten, as was evident in The Big Chill (1983) and Psycho II (1983)). She received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for Agnes of God (1985), and nobody doubted that she was on her way to stardom. One step on the road to that status was her being cast in Milos Forman's Amadeus (1984) as Constanza, but again her body interfered, and seven weeks into the production with her foot in a cast were more than the producers could accept, and she was replaced. Her "consolation", was a role in Forman's next project Valmont (1989), didn't do her career much good. Since then she has averaged a movie a year, and with the exception of Leaving Normal (1992), none have tapped the enormous reservoir of talent she has.1983 The Big Chill (1983) - Chloe
Tilly gives such a beautifully restrained performance that you don't even begin to appreciate Chloe during your first viewing(s) of this remarkable film. But eventually you see her as integral to the whole story and certainly to the film's climatic sequence.
This is an actor's film and she is the eighth major character, thrown in as outsider when the other seven assemble for a weekend after their college friend Alex's suicide. Chloe was Alex's young lover and shocks the others with her emotional detachment and inappropriate reactions. But as the weekend progresses she is slowly connecting with Nick, the most troubled of the seven old friends. This culminates in the film's most moving scene as she is finally able to express her grief. The sequence goes out with her peacefully asleep in her bed.
Sarah : I know he wasn't happy. That doesn't tell you much. I'd no idea how bad it was. I think he purposely wanted to cut off from all of us because he was so unhappy with where he was at.
Nick : Hm.
Karen : Is that true, Chloe? Did you feel that?
Chloe : I don't know. We had some good times. I haven't met that many happy people in my life, how do they act?- Buxom, beautiful and charismatic brunette stunner Corinne Alphen was born on September 27, 1954 in Lynn, Massachusetts. She's the oldest of five children. Her father William was a Deputy Chief of Police in Lynn, Massachusetts, and her mother Marjorie worked as a secretary in the Commonwealth's Registry of Motor Vehicles. Alphen attended the parochial educational institutions St. John the Evangelist grammar school and Ste. Chrétienne Academy in Salem (she was the president of the drama club in this latter all-girls high school). Corrine moved to Los Angeles, California at age seventeen and studied acting at Santa Monica City College. She made her television debut as a contestant on the local Boston, Massachusetts game-show "Race to Riches." Alphen first gained major public recognition as a Pet of the Month in the June 1978 issue of Penthouse Magazine. Corrine did a follow-up nude pictorial in the August 1981 issue of Penthouse. Alphen was subsequently named the Pet of the Year in 1982; she both graced the cover of and did a nude pictorial in the November 1982 issue of Penthouse Magazine. Corinne went on to act in a handful of movies and TV shows. She gave an especially radiant and delightful performance as fiery rock singer Joan in the amusingly lowbrow teen sex comedy romp Spring Break (1983). Alphen was likewise lively and impressive as the feisty Karen in the cruddy post-nuke sci-fi/action clinker Equalizer 2000 (1987). She made guest appearances on the TV shows The New Mike Hammer (1984), The A-Team (1983), Booker (1989), Mancuso, FBI (1989), and Night Court (1984). Outside of her work in films and TV series, Corrine not only has acted in both TV commercials and in a few stage plays (said plays include portraying Flora in a New York City theater production of Tennessee Williams' "Baby Doll"), but also has worked as a model in numerous magazine print ads. She was married to actor Ken Wahl for several years and had one son Raymond (born 1984) with Wahl prior to their divorce in 1991. Corinne Alphen now works as a certified professional Tarot card reader.1983 - Spring Break (1983) - Joan
Not a huge part, not a huge amount of characterization, and not exactly a compelling performance. But you would have to look long and hard to find a woman who looked so good at her physical peak, the upper arms to bust ratio is captivatingly low. And her character's outfits didn't hurt either. So we have to include her simply for the second to none things she brought to the screen during her physical peak. Then credited as Corinne Alphen, and five years from her unforgettable Penthouse Pet of the Year days, she was simply radiant as rock singer Joan. Transcending the teen sex comedy genre and being mentioned positively in every review of the film. - Jayne Modean is a model and actress who got her break as a fashion model in the late-1970s, appearing on three Seventeen covers in 1977. She was also a regular fashion print model in Penney and other catalogs in this same time frame. She was especially noticeable as the featured cover model on the February, 1981 Inside Sports annual swimsuit issue.1983 - Spring Break (1983) - Susie
Who would have thunk-it, two characters in the same film and a B=movie at that. Modean was the queen of the "Seventeen Magazine" cover in those days and Susie was to scorchingly wholesome what Joan was to scorchingly hot. I suspect that the intention was to present the two idealized babe types that sincere guys are looking for during their "Spring Break" adventures. With that fantastic smile, Jayne was probably just playing herself and letting her effortless charm come through. - Stacey Nelkin was born on 10 September 1959 in New York City, New York, USA. She is an actress, known for Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982), Bullets Over Broadway (1994) and Yellowbeard (1983). She has been married to Marco Greenberg since 4 October 1998. They have three children. She was previously married to Thomas Sachs Morgan and Barry Bostwick.1982 - Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) - Ellie Grimbridge
Normally not an actress synonymous with sexy. But she was about 22 and looks hotter with each viewing of the film. Whether that is her feisty character, the situation, or simply an excellent job by the wardrobe people. - Actress

Phoebe Belle Cates was born on July 16, 1963 in New York City, New York, and raised there. She is the daughter of Lily and Joseph Cates, who was a Broadway producer and television pioneer. Her uncle was director/producer Gilbert Cates. Phoebe is of Russian Jewish, and one quarter Chinese, descent. She studied at Miss Hewitt's school and at the Professional Children's School in New York City. She took classes at Juilliard when she was ten-years-old for three and a half years until a knee injury forced her to stop. Phoebe had been a busy New York model starting at the age of fourteen. She's since been featured on the covers of four Seventeens, two Elle covers, a British Vogue, and Andy Warhol's Interview, as well as in numerous layouts in other magazines. She actively pursued her modeling career, until she met her film agent at a party at New York's Studio 54. She trains with Robert Ravan, founder of The Actors' Circle in New York. Previously she studied with Alice Spivack of the H.B. Studios. Cates made her motion picture debut as Sarah in Paradise (1982) in the same year she starred as Jennifer Jason Leigh's "experienced" confidante in Amy Heckerling's acclaimed Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982). Cates then landed the role of "Christine Ramsey" in Private School (1983), then co-starred in the innovative Gremlins (1984) for Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, directed by Joe Dante. Cates has remained active in theatre, as well. After making her New York debut in Joseph Papp's Off-Broadway production of "The Nest of the Wood Grouse" in 1984, she followed with David Henry Hwang's "Rich Relations" at The Second Stage and a one-act festival at the Manhattan Punchline. On the West Coast, Cates played "Nina" in the La Jolla Playhouse production of Anton Chekhov's "The Sea Gull" and has since appeared in "Much Ado About Nothing" at New York's Public Theatre, and as "Juliet" in Chicago's Goodman Theatre production of "Romeo and Juliet".
Since 1989, Cates has been married to actor Kevin Kline, with whom she has two children.1982 - Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) - Linda Barrett
No need to explain, Linda was simply teen fantasy perfection. Cates was never again able to bring anything like that to the screen.- Actress

Jenny Agutter was born on December 20, 1952, in Taunton, Somerset, England, UK. The daughter of an army officer, she spent her childhood traveling and living in different countries. Her film career began at the age of 12 in East of Sudan (1964), which was quickly followed by Ballerina: Part 1 (1966) and Ballerina: Part 2 (1966), and A Man Could Get Killed (1966). Other films and television appearances in her early career include Gates to Paradise (1968), Long After Summer (1967), Star! (1968), I Start Counting (1970), The Great Inimitable Mr. Dickens (1970), and The Wild Duck (1971).
In 1970, she appeared in what was her real big break as a child star: The Railway Children (1970), as "Bobbie". The next year, Hollywood called and she spent several years there, appearing in such works as The Cherry Orchard (1971), Walkabout (1971), and The Snow Goose (1971) with Richard Harris, for which she received an Emmy Award. She also appeared in the critically acclaimed A War of Children (1972) and Shelley (1972).
In 1976, Jenny really came to the attention of US film audiences with her starring role in the science-fiction classic Logan's Run (1976) with Michael York. Though not a critical favorite, it was a huge box-office success and spawned a television series. She also starred alongside Richard Chamberlain in a well-received made-for-TV version of the famous Dumas tale The Man in the Iron Mask (1977) and turned in a solid performance in the WW II thriller The Eagle Has Landed (1976) with Michael Caine and Donald Sutherland. The next year, she starred in Peter Shaffer's weighty Equus (1977) as "Jill Mason", alongside Richard Burton. Among her other TV and film work during the 1970s were Dominique (1979), School Play (1979), and The Riddle of the Sands (1979).
In 1981, she played "Desdemona" opposite William Marshall in The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice (1981). Other Shakespeare performances include "King Lear", Love's Labour's Lost (1985) as "Rosaline" for the BBC and Romeo & Juliet (1993) as "Lady Capulet". During this time, she was in numerous films and television series, including Sweet William (1980), Beulah Land (1980), The Survivor (1981), Amy (1981), and one of the films for which she is most fondly remembered, An American Werewolf in London (1981). She also appeared in This Office Life (1984), Secret Places (1984), Silas Marner (1985), Dark Tower (1987), Miss Right (1982), and King of the Wind (1990).
In the 1990s, she concentrated mainly on television, with roles in TECX (1990); Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less (1990); Red Dwarf (1988); The All New Alexei Sayle Show (1994); The Buccaneers (1995); And the Beat Goes On (1996); September (1996) with Edward Fox, Michael York, Virginia McKenna, and Jacqueline Bisset; A Respectable Trade (1998) with Warren Clarke, Anna Massey, and Richard Briers. Her theatrical films during this period included Darkman (1990) with Liam Neeson; and Blue Juice (1995) with Sean Pertwee, Ewan McGregor, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. She also appeared as "Mrs. Bruce" in two feature-length episodes of the popular ITV series Bramwell (1995) in which she starred with Jemma Redgrave. She has also made several guest appearances in TV shows such as The Red Dwarf (1998); Boon (1986); The Equalizer (1985) with Edward Woodward; The Twilight Zone (1985); Magnum, P.I. (1980) and The Six Million Dollar Man (1974).
Jenny married to Johan Tham in August 1990. They have one son Jonathan, born in December 1990 and live in Cornwall, England, UK. Her particular love is charity work for The Diabetic Association and NCH Action for Children - a charity which provides home and other help for homeless children - with which she has been involved for many years.1981 An American Werewolf in London (1981) - Nurse Alex Price
I could just attribute it to the nurses uniform and the secret fantasy of most male viewers of being the patient with whom Nurse Alex falls in love. But Agutter at that age grabbed male viewers no matter what character she was playing (Jessica in "Logan's Run" also comes to mind). When watching her you spend a fair amount of time wondering why you are attracted and finally just have to accept that you simply are.- Caitlin Clarke was born on 3 May 1952 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. She was an actress, known for Dragonslayer (1981), Blown Away (1994) and Crocodile Dundee (1986). She died on 9 September 2004 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.1981 Dragonslayer (1981) - Valerian

Diane Venora was born Diana Venora in East Hartford, Connecticut. She left Hartford for a full scholarship in the drama division of the Juilliard School. After graduating from Juilliard, she performed extensively on the stage and developed a reputation as a talented stage actress, particularly in Shakespearean plays. In 1983, she starred in Joseph Papp's production of "Hamlet" at the New York Shakespeare Festival, in the lead role, the first woman to play the role at the New York Shakespeare Festival.
In 1988, her critically acclaimed performance in Clint Eastwood's biographical feature of jazz great Charlie Parker, Bird (1988), as "Chan Parker", his wife, earned her a Golden Globe nomination and the New York Film Critics Award. These roles essentially made her famous.
She was married to cinematographer Andrzej Bartkowiak (Speed (1994)) but later divorced him. After the divorce, she lived in New York with her daughter Madaket Bartkowiak, traveling often for work. She quit show business when Madzia was 8 to spend more time with her daughter. During her 7-year hiatus, Venora stayed close to home, teaching disadvantaged children, and acting in an occasional play. When Madzia was 15, Venora took her to Los Angeles and soon landed a starring role in the ABC series Thunder Alley (1994) playing Edward Asner's daughter and a recurring role in the Emmy award-winning series Chicago Hope (1994).
In 1995, she starred opposite Al Pacino and Robert De Niro as Pacino's wife in Heat (1995), earning high regard from both critics and audiences for her of role of "Justine Hanna", caught in a troubled marriage. That performance, and her follow-up as Juliet's mother in William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet (1996) impressed the directors of both The Jackal (1997) and The 13th Warrior (1999) starring Antonio Banderas.1981 - Wolfen (1981) - Rebecca Neff

Poor Dale Arden, she has to compete with young Princess Aura and the more mature Kala (played by Mariangela Melato) for viewer attention. And the deck is stacked against her by their second-to-none sexy costuming. Probably a miscalculation but no male member of the audience was complaining, they just left the theater unaware that Dale (played by Melody Anderson) had technically been the film's female lead - I suspect some were unaware that Dale had even been a character.

Daughter of a law professor at Northwestern University, she moved with her family to Los Angeles when he transferred to the University of California at Los Angeles (U.C.L.A.). She began acting in school plays at North Hollywood High, graduated from The Oakwood School and then continued her stage training at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco and the drama division of The Juilliard School in New York. Following a pleasant screen debut in Robert Redford's Oscar-winning Ordinary People (1980), McGovern gave a great performance as Evelyn Nesbit in Ragtime (1981) for which she earned an Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actress. She has continued performing on stage between film assignments rather than concentrate on being a film star.1980 - Ordinary People (1980) - Jeannine Pratt
Breaking (again) the "one" character per year rule, in the service of illustrating the diversity of characters who can qualify for a place on this list. Jeannine is the poster girl for the not flashy nurturing female character you fall in love with, in fact I would not be surprised to find that a higher proportion of male viewers fell in love with Jeannine when viewing the film for the first time than any other character in cinema history.
Jeannine: Conrad, I'm not a very good bowler, what I mean is, I'm a funny bowler.
Conrad "Con" Jarrett: Oh, well we don't have to go bowling if you'd rather not. How funny are ya?
Jeannine: On a scale of one to ten... about a ten.
Conrad "Con" Jarrett: Oh... yeah, that's pretty funny.- 1979 Sweethearts of Disaster (1979) - Vicki Bennett
There are rare occasions in the life of every heterosexual male where they encounter (in person or on screen) a female so erotic that it pushes past anything they have so far encountered in the universe, even past what they thought was possible. In my life Vicki Bennett was such a character, which is enough to get her on this list.
Lisa Shure was not around for long and is best remembered as the squeaky clean French exchange student Dave Stoller encounters at the very end of "Breaking Away", the one who instantly made Dave (and me) forget that Robyn Douglass had even been in the movie. Although the film was released the same year she appeared in this "Man Called Sloane" episode, I did not make the connection between them until recently. Lisa's breathtaking face is nicely featured in both roles, but Vicki is far higher voltage because of the erotic sparks that are generated by that kind of young ingenue in a bad girl role. And Vicki is about as ruthless a girl as you are likely to find.
I commend the series for casting Shure in this role and for giving the viewer some Vicki in bondage action, but I can't forgive their failure to feature her in a climatic catfight (to that point everything seemed to be working in that direction) and for confining the bondage to a wide master shot. With those kinds of missed opportunities it is easy to understand it's early cancellation. - Actress

I could just as well have selected Harris' performance eight years earlier as Carol in "The Beguiled" but I fell harder for Carmelita than for Carol. Carmelita was a bit more playful and somewhat deeper. Harris could be effortlessly "sultry hot" and both characters greatly benefited from this almost casual eroticism.- Actress

From 2006 to 2007, she portrayed Blythe Hunter in the My Network TV drama series Wicked Wicked Games.1978 International Velvet (1978) - Sarah Brown
You can't keep Sarah off this list because she is probably the most important transitional character in the history of cinema. O'Neal had three great transitional years (1978 - 1980) in which she simply bloomed and "International Velvet" was her biggest role during this period. Born in Bristol, England, Veronica is the older sister of the popular child actress Angela Cartwright. In her early career, Veronica was cast in a number of popular movies such as William Wyler's The Children's Hour (1961), Spencer's Mountain (1963) and Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963). As such, she was cast as "Jemima Boone" in the popular television series Daniel Boone (1964), which ran from 1964 to 66. Her career after "Daniel Boone" may have been influenced by Hitchcock, since she appeared in both the remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) and the horror classic Alien (1979). On television, she appeared twice as Lumpy's younger sister, "Violet Rutherford" and once as "Peggy MacIntosh" on Leave It to Beaver (1957) and had a small role in the television movie Still the Beaver (1983).
Cartwright also appeared in Robert Kennedy and His Times (1985), Tanner '88 (1988) and had a recurring role on L.A. Law (1986). It came as no surprise to film aficionados when, in 1999, Entertainment Weekly named Jill Clayburgh on its list of Hollywood's 25 Greatest Actresses. For decades, she delivered stellar performances in a wide variety of roles.
Jill Clayburgh was born in 1944 in New York City, into a wealthy family, the daughter of Julia Louise (Dorr), an actress and secretary, and Albert Henry Clayburgh, a manufacturing executive. Her father was from a Jewish family that has lived in the United States since the 1700s, and her mother had English ancestry, also with deep American roots. Jill was educated at the finest schools, including the Brearley School and Sarah Lawrence College. It was while at Sarah Lawrence that she decided on a career in acting, and joined the famous Charles Street Repetory Theater in Boston. She moved to New York in the late 1960s and had featured roles in a number of Broadway productions, including "The Rothschilds" and "Pippin". She began her career in films in 1970 and got her first major role in Portnoy's Complaint (1972) in 1972. In 1978, she rose to screen prominence with her performance in An Unmarried Woman (1978), for which she received an Oscar nomination. She was again nominated for the Academy Award in 1979 for her role in Starting Over (1979). But after giving a riveting portrayal as a Valium addict in I'm Dancing as Fast as I Can (1982), her career went into a rapid decline, mainly because of her poor choices of scripts. She seemed destined for a comeback after appearing in Where Are the Children? (1985), with multi-talented child actress Elisabeth Harnois, but her excellent performance was largely ignored by critics, who opted to give the credit for the thriller's success to the performance of the precocious, six year old Harnois.
After the late 1980s, Jill worked mainly in television and low-budget films, and also had a leading role in the drama Never Again (2001), with Jeffrey Tambor.
Jill was married to playwright David Rabe, with whom she had two children, including actress Lily Rabe.
Jill Clayburgh died of chronic lymphocytic leukemia on November 5, 2010, in Salisbury, Connecticut.1978 - An Unmarried Woman (1978) - Erica

From the age of five, Linda Blair had to get used to the spotlight, first as a child model and then as an actress, when out of 600 applicants she was picked for the role of Regan, the possessed child, in The Exorcist (1973). Linda quickly rose to international fame, won the Golden Globe, and seemed to be set to take the Academy Award for that role, but when it leaked how some parts of the role were not performed by her (the demonic voice was dubbed by Mercedes McCambridge, and eight seconds of a stunt dummy were used) that dream broke, and with that disappointment probably came the first blow to what looked like the beginning of an A-list career.
Over the next few years she had no trouble securing lead roles in a number of pictures, including the highly successful television films Born Innocent (1974) (the #1 TV movie of that year) and Sarah T. - Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic (1975), as well as the Exorcist sequel Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977). However, when she was peer pressured into buying cocaine at the age of 18, it led to an arrest and subsequent sentencing to three years probation. The much-publicized drug bust caused Linda to be blacklisted in Hollywood, and her career was soon reduced to B-movies and occasional TV guest appearances only.
Although her career never returned to its former glory, Linda proved to be a good sport about embracing the change, and out of the '80s emerged lead roles in two cult classics: the women-in-prison film Chained Heat (1983) and the femme fatale vigilante action film Savage Streets (1984). She continued acting in numerous films throughout the '80s and '90s, including the Exorcist spoof Repossessed (1990). In 1997, she also took to the Broadway stage and starred as "Rizzo" in the revival of "Grease." She received widespread mainstream attention again in the 2000's with the theatrical re-release of the Exorcist, followed by a hosting job on the hit Fox Family TV series Scariest Places on Earth (2000), which ran for six years and followed Linda as she visited notorious "haunted" locations around the world.
Linda was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Elinore, a real estate agent, and James, an executive headhunter. She has a brother, Jimmy, and a sister, Debbie. Linda has been a Hollywood icon for over 40 years, but it is her first love of animals that has ultimately taken center stage in her life. She now runs the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, a non-profit 501C3 tax deductible organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abused, neglected, and abandoned animals from the harsh streets of the Los Angeles area, as well as from the overcrowded and overwhelmed city and county animal shelters. She works and lives on the 2-acre rescue sanctuary full-time in California, which was featured on The Today Show in a segment titled "From Devil to Angel." Of course, she also makes frequent appearances at horror fan conventions to celebrate the legacy of The Exorcist (1973) .1977 /tt0079822 - Terry Barkley
If there was a "Hottest Costume" list Terry's white skating costume would be at the top.
Pour 5'2" Linda Blair's 20 year-old fertile looking body into that costume and circulate glossy photos to promote the film and you have something that scorched a lot of young male eyeballs in 1977.
A huge positive for Linda as it meant that something other than her "Exorcist" character came to mind when you heard her name.- Actress

I probably fell harder for this character than for anybody since, incredibly beautiful face and acerbic dialogue. And there is just something about those period costumes. It was the first time I had seen Brown and she was at her absolute physical peak.
The character has lots of parallels to rancher's daughter Cat Ballou (Jane Fonda). Interestingly in these two films both Brown and Fonda convincingly played characters much younger than themselves, and both visually aged shortly after these portrayals, disappointing a lot of fans who took them to be relative newcomers. So check out "Captains and the Kings" and work backward from there.- Lisa Eilbacher was born in Saudi Arabia, the daughter of an oil company executive. She spent her most formative years in Paris. After moving to Beverly Hills, California with her family, she soon appeared on television on episodes of Wagon Train (1957), Laredo (1965), My Three Sons (1960), and Gunsmoke (1955). Among her credits as a teenager is The War Between Men and Women (1972), a motion picture starring Jack Lemmon and Barbara Harris. She has since been featured prominently in many TV and film productions.1977 The Innocent (1977) - Lisa
In this early episode of the Logan's Run series Logan and Jessica happen upon a sweet lonely girl. At age 21 Eilbacher got the titillation role of her career as she gets to turn from incredibly hot innocent to viciously hot femme fatale who lusts after Logan and employs hypnotic powers to put him in her thrall. If that is not enough she has deadly ray-gun eyes. Hard to improve on the dazzling hotness of the precocious nymphet. - Actress

Barbara Goldbach was born to Howard and Marjorie Goldbach in Queens, New York. Her father was a policeman. She met her first husband Augusto Gregorini in New York while she worked as a model and he was visiting from Italy for business tourism in 1966. Barbara followed him to Italy to be with him and they married in 1968. They had two children, Francesca Gregorini and Gianni Gregorini. During Gianni's birth, he had the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, nearly choking him, and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, although a later operation improved his condition.
In 1975, Barbara and Augusto Gregorini separated when she moved to Los Angeles, California. The couple separated in 1978, sharing custody of their two children. Barbara met Ringo Starr on the set of the comedy Caveman (1981), and they became a couple during the filming. Ringo and Barbara were on a holiday in December 1980 when her daughter called to inform them that John Lennon had been shot. Ringo and Barbara went to New York City to console Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon. Ringo and Barbara married on April 27, 1981.
Her acting career began in Italy, where she played Nausicaa in Odissea (1968), a television adaptation of Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey", directed by Franco Rossi and produced by Dino De Laurentiis. Bach co-starred with two other "Bond Girls", Claudine Auger and Barbara Bouchet in the mystery Black Belly of the Tarantula (1971) and had small roles in other Italian films. In 1977, she played Russian secret agent Anya Amasova in the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me (1977). The following year, she appeared in the war film Force 10 from Navarone (1978), which also starred Robert Shaw and Harrison Ford.1977 - The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) - Major Anya Amasova / Agent XXX
Bach was a great Bond girl, the Russian part just added the the sizzle. I liked her then - I like her better now.
James Bond: Oh, by the way, thanks for deserting me back there.
Major Anya Amasova: Every woman for herself, remember?
James Bond: Still, you did save my life.
Major Anya Amasova: We all make mistakes, Mr. Bond.- Jane Hitchcock was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1953 to Ray and Amelia Hitchcock. She was their fourth child. She grew up with three older brothers. Her father was a farmer, whose crops were wiped out by the beetle, so he ended up working at the local electric company. She studied ballet as a child. Then, she was chosen as one of two girls from all over America for a scholarship to train at the school of Balanchine for the world's premier ballet company, The New York City Ballet. She made her first airplane trip to New York City. Within weeks of arriving, photographers stopped her in the street wanting to photograph her. Wilhelmina, the famous Vogue model of the 1960s, signed Jane as her 5th model when she started her new agency. She was now Wilhelmina's protégé and being schooled to be a great model. Her dance training made her a natural and gave her posture and grace. She was able to bring her love of the performing arts to the camera which made her an ideal model for fashion photography. She regularly appeared in magazines, such as Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Elle and Glamour. Her fame spread, and the press reported her rise at such a young age in Look and Life magazines. She did the French Collections for Vogue and Elleat, when she was just fifteen, and when she turned sixteen, she created a book on modeling at age sixteen. She then appeared in television commercials. When she was nineteen, she married and had her daughter Serena the same year. In the early 1970s, Columbia studio offered Jane a contract, but she turned them down because she didn't want to act in exploitative films. She continued to model and became friends with another model Cybill Shepherd after working together on an assignment. Cybill became a successful actress but was in a public relations mess when director Peter Bogdanovich left his wife for her. Columbia studio refused to cast Cybill in Bogdanovich's film Nickelodeon (1976) for a role he created especially for her. She was crushed but magnanimously recommended Jane for the role of the silent film actress. This time, Jane agreed to work for Columbia studio. She was the only novice in a star-studded cast that included the then-hot leading men Burt Reynolds and Ryan O'Neal fighting for her character's affections, creating a love triangle in the period film. Although, she gave a charming performance, she received mixed reviews, and the film became a flop. She was disappointed and acted in only one more project, before returning to her modeling career, which she had always preferred over her film career. In the early 1990s, she turned forty and became an important face for cosmetic companies, which began to create advertisements featuring "ageless beauties." In 1993, she modeled with her then-twenty-two-year-old daughter Serena in an international campaign for Ferretti Jeans. She landed modeling jobs with Calvin Klein, Maybelline, and Vichy. In 2016, a sixty-three-year old Jane moved to Australia and continues to model to this day.1976 - Nickelodeon (1976) - Kathleen Cooke
Simply wow! Hitchcock was a model and was wise enough to underplay this heroine, who looks and acts so nice that the worship dynamic quickly kicks in. - Maggie Wellman was born on 7 September 1951 in Los Angeles, California, USA. She is an actress, known for Rancho Deluxe (1975), The Harrad Experiment (1973) and The Streets of San Francisco (1972).
1975 Rancho Deluxe (1975) - Mary Fargo
Funny thing, this film was supposed to be Charlene Dallas' break out role and if not her there was Patti D"Arbanville. But for me it was Wellman's Mary Fargo who left a life-long impression. I guess she was a perfect blend of my two greatest attractions factors, cowgirls and freckles. - Actress

Ronee Blakley came to prominence as the fictional country superstar Barbara Jean (a role that was originally offered to Susan Anspach), in Robert Altman's Nashville (1975). Her performance in the film won her a National Board of Review for Best Supporting Actress, and garnered Academy Award, BAFTA, and Golden Globe nominations.1975 Nashville (1975) - Barbara Jean
1975 was an incredible year. This was the finest portrayal I have ever seen, and Adjani's was a close second - and they happened in the same year. And Barbara Jean's breakdown sequence (below) stands alone.
Barbara Jean: [she finishes singing a song at her concert] Thank you. I wanna tell you all a little secret which you might not know, and that is that last night I thanked my lucky stars that I could be here at all to sing for ya. I heard on the radio this little boy, nine years old. Sometimes a deejay'll play a tune and ask everybody to phone in and say how they like it. I was listenin', and this little nine-year-old called in. The song had voices in the background, like the way they use backup voices these days, soundin' like little munchkins. He called up, the deejay said, "How old are you, son?" The boy said, "I'm nine, and I think it's gonna be a hit. " The deejay said, "Why?" "Because it had those chipmunks in it. " And I thought that was so cute, because, well, I can sing like a munchkin myself. I'm real fond of The Wizard of Oz. Plus, I live out, you know, just a ways off of Interstate on the road to Chattanooga. So you can see why I kinda related to that. I think me and the boys are gonna strike up another tune for you now. Let's go, boys. I think there's a storm... seems like it's a-brewin'. That's what my grandaddy used to say before he lost his hearin'. Once he got deaf, he never talked much no more. 'Cept sometimes he'd say "Oh, gosh" or "Durn it" or "My word!" My granny'd go around clickin' her teeth to the radio all day. Boy, was she a lot of fun, and cooked my favorite, roast beef. She was a sweetheart. She raised chickens too. She, um... Did you ever hear a chicken sound? You know how chickens go? Here, chick, chick, chick. Here, chick, chick, chick. Anyway, I guess we'd better strike up this tune before it's too late. Okay, boys. The first job I ever really got... Grandma... She's the one who clacked her false teeth to the radio. She taught my mama how to sing, and my mama taught me. One time she took me, 'cause we was gonna get a new Frigidaire. She took me to the Frigidaire store where the man was advertisin'. This record was goin' 'round, and Mama told him I knew how to sing. He said, "If she learns this tune, I'll give y'all a quarter. " So Mama and I went home... And then what happened? Let's see, I think... Uh, yeah. We went home and I learned both sides of the record in half an hour. We went back and told him that I'd learned 'em, and he said, "Let me hear," so I sang both sides of the record instead of just one. So he gave us cents, and we went across the street and had us a soda. Ever since then I been workin'. I don't... I think ever since then I been workin' and doin' my... - Come on, come on. - Supportin'myself. Anyway...
Barnett: [comes up on stage and starts to pull her from the microphone] Hey, hey. Hey, hey.
Barbara Jean: Am I all right? Am I all right?
Barnett: Oh, you're fine, darlin'.

Yes, it is an exercise in frustration to be in love with Adèle, as the world holds so many possibilities for someone this beautiful, intelligent, and passionate; if only she would give up her obsession. But rarely does a actress bring so intense a character to the screen, and even rarer do it so well that no suspension of disbelief by the viewer is necessary.- Actress

Another bad girl with class, male viewers kept their eyes glued to the well-groomed Wiley and wished that she had more screen time. Part of the attraction was a feeling that you could reform her if you only had the chance.
A particularly interesting thing is how thin and delicate Wiley looks in her scenes, most times the camera makes female characters appear more imposing than the really are, but whoever handled the cinematography for this film got it right.
For me, the final shot of a chagrined Wiley in the back seat of a patrol car was simply the single most erotic three seconds in film history.- Actress

She appeared in numerous other film and television productions. She is an actor, director and producer.1974 Death Cruise (1974) Mary Frances Radney
For years I never really understood the attraction, but I had never seen Jackson in her early twenties; before she lost her youthful glow. But she still had it in 1974 and with it she was dazzling. Add in the bad girl vibe in this movie and you have something truly memorable.- Susanne Zenor was born on 26 November 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Johnson and Robert Eugene Cavallo.1973 The Baby (1973) - Alba Wadsworth
Alba is the cutest sadist in the history of films and the contrast drives up the lust factor to new heights. Zenor has a lot of fun with what turns out to be the best role in this under-appreciated acting for-the-camera Ted Post masterpiece. - Writer

Miranda Barry was born on 18 January 1951 in New York City, New York, USA. She is a writer and producer, known for The Brothers O'Toole (1973), Ghostwriter (1992) and One Life to Live (1968).1973 The Brothers O'Toole (1973) - Bonnie Lou MacClanahan
There are rare occasions (see Lisa Shure above) in the life of every heterosexual male where they encounter (in person or on screen) a female so delectably wholesome that it pushes past anything they have so far encountered in the universe, even past what they thought was possible. In my life Bonnie Lou MacClanahan was such a character, which is enough to get her on this list. She is the only character about whom I fantasize about marrying, not to mention an assortment of more carnal activities.
