Bond Actors ranked from Best to Worst

1. Timothy Dalton

Actor | The Living Daylights

At a consistently lean 6' 2", green-eyed Timothy Dalton may very well be one of the last of the dying breed of swashbuckling, classically trained Shakespearean actors who have forged simultaneous successful careers in theater, television and film. He has been comparison-shopped roundly for stepping...

Timothy Dalton’s James Bond was ahead of its time. He embodied the haunted, hard-edged, ruthless killer that Ian Fleming originally envisioned. Timothy Dalton IS the James Bond of the books. This was something we hadn’t seen onscreen before and wouldn’t again until the world was more ready and Daniel Craig stepped in.

2. George Lazenby

Actor | On Her Majesty's Secret Service

George Robert Lazenby was born September 5, 1939 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia, to Sheila Joan (Bodel) and George Edward Lazenby. He moved to London, England in 1964, after serving in the Australian Army. Before becoming an actor, he worked as an auto mechanic, used car salesman, prestige...

Lazenby’s greatest strength was his physicality, plus his portrayal of emotional vulnerability. Very true to Ian Fleming novels! He stole James Bond from Sean Connery!

George Lazenby’s Bond is a very different entity than Sean Connery’s, contributing to the change of tone. Lazenby even cried in an initial take of the heartbreaking final scene, but Peter Hunt made him do it again because James Bond doesn’t cry. We would have to wait another 43 years before seeing him cry in Skyfall.

3. Sean Connery

Actor | The Rock

The tall, handsome and muscular Scottish actor Sean Connery is best known as the original actor to portray James Bond in the hugely successful movie franchise, starring in seven films between 1962 and 1983. Some believed that such a career-defining role might leave him unable to escape it, but he ...

Connery added a splash of tongue-in-cheek humor which Ian Fleming never wanted in the first place, hence he changed Bond forever for coming generations. Connery was never James Bond! James Bond is a cold blooded killer who lacks humour!!

4. Daniel Craig

Actor | Casino Royale

One of the British theatre's most famous faces, Daniel Craig, who waited tables as a struggling teenage actor with the National Youth Theatre, has gone on to star as James Bond in Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015) and No Time to Die (2021).

He was born ...

After 9/11, world became a serious place, plus Jason Bourne movies made EON producers to take Bond seriously. Thus entered Craig, who just copied portrayal of Timothy Dalton and Lazenby in new age. Seriously this guy is a copy cat!

5. Roger Moore

Actor | Moonraker

Roger Moore will perhaps always be remembered as the man who replaced Sean Connery in the James Bond series, arguably something he never lived down.

Roger George Moore was born on October 14, 1927 in Stockwell, London, England, the son of Lillian (Pope) and George Alfred Moore, a policeman. His ...

Silly James Bond, literally!

6. Pierce Brosnan

Actor | Mamma Mia!

Pierce Brendan Brosnan was born in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland, to May (Smith), a nurse, and Thomas Brosnan, a carpenter. He lived in Navan, County Meath, until he moved to England, UK, at an early age (thus explaining his ability to play men from both backgrounds convincingly). His father left...

Pathetic James Bond Ever!
