It’s been confirmed that American actor Alec Baldwin will still stand trial this summer over the infamous shooting that happened on Oct. 21, 2021, during the filming of his movie “Rust” at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Associated Press reported that on Friday, a New Mexico Judge, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer denied Baldwin his request to dismiss the one count of involuntary manslaughter he was charged with.
Prior to that, Baldwin’s attorneys Alex Spiro and Luke Nikas filed a motion in March to dismiss their client’s manslaughter indictment by accusing prosecutors of “unethical disparagement” and of “violating nearly every rule in the book” to secure a grand jury indictment. The motion to dismiss filing read, “The State did not make Baldwin’s witnesses available to testify. Nor did it present the exculpatory and favorable evidence to the grand jury.”

At the end of a long week in February 2015, after working an overnight shift as a gaffer and lightning technician on an independent feature film, Chris Walters fell asleep as he was driving home and totaled his truck. Walters, a lifelong Los Angeles resident who joined the entertainment industry right out of high school, was exhausted from consecutive days on set that wrapped late at night or early in the morning. While he was accustomed to such long hours, Walters says, his fatigue finally caught up with him that morning on Interstate 5. Nodding off,...

Alec Baldwin’s request to have a grand jury indictment against him dropped has been denied, meaning that the actor will still be going to trial for the fatal shooting of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins
“It is ordered that defendant Alec Baldwin’s Motion to dismiss the indictment is hereby denied,” said Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer. The State v. Alexander Rae Baldwin trial is due to start in Santa Fe on July 9th and is expected to last around two weeks. The actor faces involuntary manslaughter charges and faces a possible 18 months in prison if found guilty.
During the production of the Western film Rust, a live round was discharged from a revolver used by Alec Baldwin, which killed Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza. Baldwin was originally charged last year, but the charges were dropped just a few months later, although they were dropped “without prejudice,” which meant...

Alec Baldwin lost his bid Friday to get his involuntary manslaughter case dismissed. A judge in New Mexico denied his request and upheld his indictment after a testy hearing last week. The new ruling means the actor remains on track to begin a jury trial in July over claims he aimed a prop gun at cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and fired the live bullet that killed her during production of the western movie Rust in 2021.

A New Mexico judge on Friday denied Alec Baldwin’s motion to dismiss the manslaughter charge made against him in connection to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust” in 2021.
Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer rejected defense arguments that special prosecutor Kari Morrissey had failed to inform the grand jury that it was not the actor’s duty to inspect the gun he was holding.
Special prosecutors have said that Baldwin made “shameless” attempts to escape responsibility for Hutchins’ death and accused the producer/actor’s legal team of “countless lies and manipulation.”
“The defendant’s motion to dismiss is predictably false, misleading and histrionic misrepresentation of the facts and circumstances of the history of the case,” the prosecution’s filing said in April, adding that the prosecution has “experienced near countless lies and manipulation from the defense for more than one year.”
The filing further stated,...

Alec Baldwin will face a trial in July stemming from manslaughter charges over the accidental shooting death of Rust’s cinematographer.
Santa Fe judge Mary Sommer on Friday denied Baldwin’s bid to dismiss the indictment, concluding that prosecutors and the grand jury weren’t biased against him. “The court does not find prosecutorial bad faith,” the order stated.
Baldwin, a producer on the low budget Western, has been accused of negligently firing the gun when the scene only called for him to pull it from the holster and ignoring industry norms dictating gun safety. Prosecutors have alleged that he endangered others by missing initial firearms training and hiring an inexperienced armorer. If convicted, he faces 18 months in prison.
Baldwin’s arguments for dismissal were multipronged. He claimed that prosecutors pursued charges against him in bad faith, withheld “favorable evidence” that could vindicate him and failed to properly instruct the...

A New Mexico judge has decided today that Alec Baldwin will still be going to trial this summer for the October 2021 fatal shooting of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
“It is ordered that defendant Alec Baldwin’s Motion to dismiss the indictment is hereby denied,” said Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer in her just released ruling Friday. Baldwin’s trial is set to start in Santa Fe on July 9. The State v. Alexander Rae Baldwin trial is expected to last about two weeks.
Evaluating a number of issues the defense had with the way the most recent indictment against Baldwin was constructed and the manner in which it was presented to a Grand Jury, Judge Sommer rejected all of the claims against the prosecution.
“After review of transcripts from the January 18, 2024 and January 19, 2024 grand jury presentations, the Court does not find that the ‘prosecuting attorney assisting the grand jury’ engaged in ‘intentional misconduct’ reflecting ‘dishonesty of belief,...

A New Mexico judge denied Alec Baldwin’s motion to throw out his manslaughter indictment on Friday, keeping the case on schedule for trial in July.
Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer rejected each of Baldwin’s lawyers’ arguments for dismissal, finding that the grand jury process was not prejudiced against the actor.
Baldwin is facing up to 18 months in prison if convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. He is accused of negligently pointing his gun at Hutchins and pulling the trigger while preparing to film a scene, and has also been faulted for contributing to lax safety standards on set.
Baldwin’s lawyers sought to throw out the indictment, arguing that prosecutor Kari Morrissey steered the grand jury away from exculpatory information, and failed to make defense witnesses available.

Few types of movies sum up the 1990s quite like “dad thrillers.” A term popularized by the brilliant Max Read a few years ago, the dad thriller is a subgenre of thriller movies that was largely designed to appeal to older male viewers or otherwise featured thematic elements associated with that demographic. Yes, such movies often feature men being really good dads, but it’s about more than that. Dad thrillers were often closer to ’70s paranoia thrillers like Three Days of the Condor, which pitted crusaders of truth against staggering odds in a slow-burn narrative. They typically featured lawyers, law enforcement officers, military personnel, and dads in other thoroughly professional fields who were very good at their jobs. Many were based on books or otherwise inspired by the fictional and non-fictional texts dads of that generation loved to read. Some were theatrical hits but most of them found a home in living rooms everywhere.

After a stellar 1989, the Hollywood box office of 1990 was expected to be even better – but the film industry got taught some tough lessons.
Browsing the worldwide box office charts for 1989, and many a major studio executive would have been stroking their chin with some degree of comfort. The same old was working. The new things were working. Everything was getting better. The Christmas party was clearly going to be on the impressive side.
What 1989 had proven, after all, was the growing feeling that big stuff worked too. Tim Burton’s Batman had firmly introduced the idea of the huge opening weekend at the box office, and that a movie could become a cultural phenomenon. That patrons would leave the cinema and promptly seek out the soundtrack, the computer game, the book, the T-shirt, the novelty undercrackers.
But it wasn’t just Batman. 1989 proved to Hollywood that, for the most part,...

It’s easy to be jaded in the year of our lord 2024 about legacy sequels. What once seemed like a novelty less than a decade ago—back when Harrison Ford said, “Chewie, we’re home”—has increasingly become a threat. Hollywood studios continue to be hellbent on dragging from the grave every 1980s and ‘90s pop culture relic. However, terms like “hellbent” and “the grave” have always befitted Tim Burton’s second, and in some circles still best, feature film: Beetlejuice.
Released in 1988 to a smattering of amused if confused critical notices, Beetlejuice’s dark comedy setup about a bland small town couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) discovering the afterlife is like if the Dmv was designed by, well, Tim Burton, was a cultural oddity. It was a movie that juxtaposed mid-20th century Americana with stop-motion effects and claymation, creating sights as gnarly as Michael Keaton’s face on a giant snake hissing,...

Are moviegoers really clamoring for more of the ghost with the most? Tim Burton and Warner Bros. certainly think so. After dropping a disappointingly tepid teaser trailer last March, the Goth King of Hollywood (who probably single-handedly kept the ubiquitous shopping mall mainstay Hot Topic in business) has just unleashed a full theatrical trailer that, hopefully, whets fans' appetite for another ghoulish, antic-filled adventure headlined by the always game Michael Keaton.
For those of us who came of age during Burton's bizarro Hollywood auteur era (which kicked off with 1985's timeless classic "Pee Wee's Big Adventure), we're hoping one of the most visually distinct filmmakers in the history of the medium has rediscovered his macabre mojo. "Beetlejuice" (which he once described as his anti-Spielberg film), "Edward Scissorhands," and his two Batman movies looked completely unlike any other studio productions. A New Mexico judge on Friday asked a series of skeptical questions of the prosecutor in the Alec Baldwin manslaughter case, suggesting she might decide to throw out the indictment.
Baldwin is scheduled to face a trial in Santa Fe in July for negligently pointing a gun at cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and pulling the trigger. In New Mexico, involuntary manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of 18 months in prison.
Baldwin’s defense has asked Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer to throw out the case, arguing that prosecutors failed to make defense witnesses available to the grand jury.
At a hearing on Friday, Marlowe Sommer asked the prosecutor, Kari Morrissey, why she had not made more of an effort to contact those witnesses before the grand jury proceeding.

After hustling for nearly two decades to build a career as an actor and stand-up comedian, Adam Ray has recently hit on an entirely new level of exposure. The person he has to thank for it, you might be surprised to hear, is none other than Dr. Phil.
For many a performer, Ray tells Deadline, the goal is to hone one’s craft until hitting on something “that’s yours” and yours alone. This is what he’s accomplished with Dr. Phil Live!, a digital series garnering huge attention online of later, in which he plays a heightened version of the popular daytime talk show host, with the help of detailed prosthetics.

Exclusive: Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins (Freud’s Last Session) has signed on to star in Bruno Penguin and the Staten Island Princess, the latest film from director Nick Cassavetes. Billed as the first-ever major Hollywood production to shoot in Antarctica, the film also has Shia Labeouf (Padre Pio) in talks to star and will enter production in November.
Scripted by Daniel Barnz and Ned Zeman, Bruno Penguin is based on a Vanity Fair article from the latter which tells the true story of adventurous Swiss photographer Bruno Zehnder, a superb artist who spent the last 20 years of his life in Antarctica photographing Emperor penguins. He was obsessed by them – their kindness, the way they lived, their deep levels of affection for one another. Bruno spent his life trying to learn how to communicate with them and over time, the colonies grew to know him and return his fondness.

On one hand, we have what many will consider to be one of the best movies of the year: "Dune: Part Two" (you can read our review right here). On the other, we also have what is arguably one of the worst movies of the year: Sony's woefully inept "Madame Web" (check out our review here). But that's not all! We also have new 4K releases of several great "older" titles. Throw in the latest from one of the Coen Brothers and a Jason Statham action pic as well, and you've got yourself a jam-packed Blu-ray round-up. So keep spinning those discs and read on.

Alec Baldwin’s lawyers have filed two more motions to throw out his manslaughter indictment in the “Rust” case in New Mexico.
Meanwhile, Rory Kennedy, who is making a documentary about Baldwin and the “Rust” shooting, is fighting a subpoena that would force her to turn over interview footage to the prosecutors in the case.
Baldwin faces a trial in July on a charge of negligently causing the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The actor was preparing to film a scene in the Western film in October 2021 when his Colt .45 fired, striking Hutchins and also wounding the director.
The armorer, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, was sentenced last month to 18 months in prison for mistakenly loading a live bullet into the gun.
Baldwin’s latest motions argue that the charge is not legally justified, and that he has been deprived of a fair trial because the FBI broke the gun in the case during testing.

As Alec Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter trial looms, the Rust star-producer is again attempting to get a judge to dismiss the charges stemming from the fatal 2021 shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the New Mexico set of the indie film.
“Because the State does not even allege that Baldwin was aware of any level of risk (let alone a substantial risk) that the gun was loaded with live ammunition, he is innocent as a matter of law,” says one of two filings that Baldwin’s defense team of NYC-based Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan lawyers and Albuquerque firm LeBlanc Law put in the Santa Fe County courts this week.
“The State has not alleged facts that constitute a crime,” Baldwin’s attorneys declare in their 22-page motion to dismiss the indictment for failure to allege a criminal crime (read it here). “Even taking every allegation that the State has presented...

17,000 fans. The reunion of an American football dynasty and the coach no one expected to show. Televised live around the world while the reputation of a man considered “the greatest of all time” sits in the hands of savage comedians and one-time foes. What could go wrong?
But here we are, just days after Tom Brady took to the stage at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles for Sunday’s “The Greatest Roast of All Time,” and the walls are still standing. For decades roast comedy has been a beloved national tradition, once shepherded on TV by Comedy Central. It was a show that often targeted Hollywood legends or zeitgeist icons. It took the willingness of Brady, who holds a record 7 Super Bowl rings, to reinvigorate the format for streaming under host Kevin Hart. And not just any roast, which would typically be shot on a Hollywood backlot and edited ahead of its premiere.

It seems every actress in the 90210 is getting invitations to join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills with two empty spots still open amid Annemarie Wiley and Crystal Minkoff’s departure.
Two new names have recently been tossed into the ring as possible replacements for the newly fired Housewives.
Tisha Campbell and Melanie Griffith have reportedly been asked to join the franchise, but are they interested?
If so, the Rhobh cast will be overrun by actresses as the pair would join former child star Kyle Richards and actress and producer Garcelle Beauvais.
That’s not all, Denise Richards has her sights set on returning to the franchise now that Lisa Rinna is no longer on the show.
Back in March reports claimed Og Kyle wants Hilaria Baldwin — the wife of actor Alec Baldwin — on the show, but Rhobh fans were outraged by the suggestion.

It’s been decades since Martin Scorsese was proclaimed one of the best directors of all time — and to this day he doesn’t lose the ground having proved his status with last year’s masterpiece Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone.
However, artistic genius often goes hand in hand with stubborn and intractable nature — and Scorsese’s ex colleagues from Warner Bros. had a big chance to see this with their own eyes.
Back in 2006, Scorsese released his epic crime thriller The Departed — the film eventually got to be commercially and critically acclaimed classic of the genre, earning almost $300 million in the box office with the initial budget of $90 million and taking home four Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film Editing.
To many people’s surprise, the almost 20-year-old film to this day remains Scorsese’s one and only directorial win.

Given her one-of-a-kind awards resume and irrefutable status as an acting legend, it’s no wonder Meryl Streep is widely expected to be honored at this year’s Emmys for her work on Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building.” Taking the gold for her first regular comedy series role would be impressive enough, but the noteworthiness of her win would extend far beyond that. Having joined her show in its third season, she would be only the 10th non-original comedy series cast member to ever pull off a lead or supporting Emmy victory.
Not including sketch performers, Streep would be said winners club’s first new entrant in over three decades. The last was Kirstie Alley, who replaced Shelley Long as the female lead of “Cheers” at the start of season six and prevailed on her third Emmy bid in 1991. Justin Bieber recently sparked concern online from fans. So, what happened with him that had so many worried about him?
Fans Have Been Worried About Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber was thrust onto the world stage at a young age. Despite his success, it’s often a lot for a young person to deal with. You see it a lot with child actors and other child stars. Later in life, they either shun the spotlight altogether, or, they turn to various vices to cope.
Various clips on TikTok recently went viral, showing a drunk Justin Bieber performing a live rendition of Stay with The Kid Laroi. Many viewers commented on how this was the best version of the song, and how Justin “killed it” with his performance even while visibly intoxicated. However, others have also expressed concern for the singer for some time.

Here are 5 of the chilling 1990’s thrillers, handpicked by Redditors and available for watching on Prime Video.
The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (1992)
Being the perfect example of the femme fatale trope, this story transforms the typical dangerous woman into a suburban obstetrician’s wife, who goes into all serious after she acknowledges her husband’s sexual misconduct. Annabella Sciorra and Rebecca De Mornay’s performances here are the main keys for keeping the movie’s nail-biting suspense, and be sure that the twists will leave your jaws on the floor!

Remaking a 2002 Hong Kong hit and setting the story in Irish-Catholic Boston, Martin Scorsese seemed to be out of his element with The Departed—if not, that is, for the fact that the film marked a return to the director’s bread-and-butter mean streets, and that his source material, Wai Keung Lau and Siu Fai Mak’s Infernal Affairs, was itself heavily influenced by his iconic gangster films. Something of a genre homecoming after recent detours into the arenas of the historical epic (Gangs of New York) and the period biopic (The Aviator), The Departed again found him trawling a gritty, brutal urban underbelly where racial epithets spit from roughnecks’ mouths, class divisions are as sharp as a switchblade, and allegiances to others and one’s self are always tenuous at best.

Megan Thee Stallion’s former personal cameraman is taking the Grammy winner and Mean Girls actress and Roc Nation to court for creating an “intolerable” and “hostile abusive work environment.”

A video posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday night sees a person go up to Baldwin at a New York City coffee shop.
The nearly one-minute video, posted on an account with the name “Crackhead Barney & Friends,” begins with the person asking him to say “Free Palestine.” The person then goes on to address Baldwin’s ongoing involuntary manslaughter case, following the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the Rust set.
“Why did you kill that lady? You killed that lady, got no jail time,” the user continues. “No jail time Alec. You’re putting innocent people in jail, Alec Baldwin. Free Palestine Alec. Just one time, and I’ll leave you alone. I’ll leave you alone. I swear.”

Alec Baldwin’s lawyers alleged a “stunning abuse of prosecutorial power” in the “Rust” case on Tuesday, arguing that a favorable plea offer was withdrawn last fall due to a misunderstanding about Baldwin’s role in a documentary about the case.
Baldwin is facing a trial in July in Santa Fe, N.M., on a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. If convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison.
Last October, prosecutors offered him a misdemeanor plea that would carry no jail time. But prosecutor Kari Morrissey said in a recent filing that she rescinded that offer after learning that Baldwin had “commissioned his own documentary” about Hutchins’ death, and was pressuring witnesses in the case to participate.
Concerned that Baldwin’s conduct would cause ongoing harm the victims and their families, she withdraw the offer and decided to seek a felony indictment.

Baldwin has lost his cool several times over the years, and some of them are well documented. He got into it with a person recently, and he ended up punching her camera. While his temper has not been his best friend, many have taken his side this time.

Though it’s been more than 35 years since Beetlejuice was released in cinemas, the time hasn’t managed to put the story to its end.
A sequel for Tim Burton’s comedy horror is making its way back to the screens this year, accompanied by already familiar faces from the original movie as well as by new characters portrayed by Hollywood’s biggest stars at the moment.
Despite the famous story’s life going on, the time still didn’t manage to save some other iconic characters — and, according to Beetlejuice’s actress, it’s the main reason why they didn’t get to appear in the upcoming sequel.
The news that keeps coming in regarding Beetlejuice 2’s casting and plot details clearly suggest that the sequel won’t feature the characters whose appearance actually marked the very beginning of the story.
As many may recall it, Beetlejuice opens...
