The Hollywood Disclosure Alliance has added some star power to its ranks, including Academy Award winner Shirley MacLaine, actor/podcaster Dave Foley, Communion author Whitley Strieber; actor/journalist Michael Ian Black, and Emmy Award-winning UFO Researcher Linda Moulton Howe.
The Hollywood Disclosure Alliance brings together a number of prominent Hollywood storytellers with many of the top UFO/Uap researchers and advocates. The goal is to provide a more unified voice in the media leading up to the end of the long-held U.S. government-imposed truth embargo regarding the presence of extraterrestrial life by confirmation from the President of the United States, i.e., “Disclosure.”
The Hda has just been granted nonprofit status with California and has also been designated a 501(c)3 corporation with the IRS.
“We believe we are involved in something of great importance with the Hollywood Disclosure Alliance,” said Dan Harary, chairman and cofounder.

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit the short-lived anthology horror satire “Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters,” which aired on TruTV back in 2018.
Although these days it’s known mainly as the channel on cable that plays “Impractical Jokers” all day, every day, back in 2018, Tru TV sought out to try some different programming. After successfully pulling away from their line up of reality shows, the network aimed to deliver a hefty line up of original comedy series, many of which ended up being damn good.
Among the line up introduced, there was “Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters.” Comedian, actor, and director Goldthwait is no stranger to the horror genre (I loved his found footage film Willow Creek), and was the mastermind behind this delightfully unusual horror anthology series. Every week, “Misfits & Monsters” told a variety of half hour stories, all of which were a healthy mix of dark comedy,...

Over the past three decades, sketch comedy group The State has created an MTV series, a comedy album, a book, and a CBS special in addition to several spinoff projects like Reno 911!, Viva Variety, Stella, Wet Hot American Summer, Risk!, and Children’s Hospital. But the logistics of bringing the large troupe back together for a tour were always too daunting to even consider until just a few months ago when the SAG strike cleared off their calendars for the foreseeable future.

I had to watch Linoleum twice before sitting down to write this review… Not because of the complexity of the latter half of the movie, or that there was something niggling me about it (which is often the way). I wanted to watch the movie again to make sure I wasn’t falling into hyperbole when I made my final statement on my thoughts about writer/director Colin West’s latest film. We will get there soon though…
I do have to add though, with Linoleum director Colin West (Double Walker) has introduced himself to me in a huge way and dare I say it, has utilised Jim Gaffigan in a practically flawless dual performance you will not forget in a hurry.
Linoleum is the story of Cameron (Gaffigan) and we meet...

No institution can dodge Louis C.K.’s comedic legacy and sexual allegations, TIFF included, where he appeared immediately pre-#MeToo with his film I Love You, Daddy. I squirmed slightly recalling C.K.’s appearance at the festival as I watched Cara Mones and Caroline Suh unpacking the case, his survivors, and his humor in Sorry/Not Sorry. The documentary follows entertainment journalists re-contextualizing the controversial comedian’s achievements in the present, along with testimonies from his assault survivors (and talented comedians in their own right) Jen Kirkman, Abby Schnacher, and Megan Koester.
The documentary’s talking-head and archival-footage aesthetic allows for a long runway to observe ethical conundrums in entertainment. Is it okay to be offensive under the guise of comedy? How much truth should be involved in a joke? And how much does that matter? If art is subjective, can the professional remain separate from the personal? While Sorry/Not Sorry proposes intriguing,...

Ariana Grande, Guillermo del Toro, Padma Lakshmi, Roxane Gay, Gabrielle Union, Sandra Cisneros, Amanda Gorman, Margaret Cho and Ron Perlman are among the signatories of an open letter calling on creative communities in Hollywood and beyond to leverage their voices to stop book bans.
Upwards of 175 actors, musicians, authors, comedians, reality stars, models, media personalities, academics, activists and more have signed the open letter spearheaded by Reading Rainbow host LeVar Burton and published Tuesday via public advocacy organization and political action committee MoveOn Political Action.
LeVar Burton
The letter encourages signatories and readers to address challenges at the local level across U.S. school districts, while calling out book bans as “restrictive behavior” that is “antithetical to free speech and expression.” It also underscores the “chilling effect” these bans can have “on the broader creative field.”

What should we do with people who have admitted to sexual misconduct? Especially if that person has legions of fans who can fill Madison Square Garden? Should we object? Or simply pretend it isn’t happening?
The comedian Louis C.K. became an outcast in 2017, the year of #MeToo, after the New York Times — led by three intrepid female reporters — revealed that he masturbated in front of at least five women. And probably a whole lot more.
C.K. quickly admitted it. Yes, he said that was me. And then he wrote a long mea culpa and essentially said he needed to go away for a while and listen.
But then what? “Sorry/Not Sorry,” a documentary by Caroline Suh and Cara Mones playing at the Toronto International Film Festival, explores the difficult and nuanced question that has become an unspoken part of the #MeToo fallout. How should we treat someone like C.

The thing about “open secrets” is: Everyone knows what the secret is, but no one wants to acknowledge or talk about it. Not really, at least — if somebody’s peers and colleagues are all privy to some forbidden or socially unacceptable facts, and bringing it up forces them to reckon with some complicated feelings, then hey, why do we need to bring any of that up? For years, it was more or less an open secret within the comedy community that Louis C.K. had done things and said things that made female comedians feel uncomfortable.

At some point in our culture, we began to see male comedians as philosophers. Invoking the legacies of George Carlin, Richard Pryor and Bill Hicks, comedy fans have labeled funny men as paternalistic truth tellers that we all must revere. Never mind the fact that these men are no longer alive and thus have no opportunity to challenge the way their work has been framed and which living comics they are compared to.
Louis C.K. is one such comedian who has often been spoken of in the same breath as these men, despite lacking the often political edge of their work. C.K. and comics like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle are the confirmed gold standard of comedy, standing at the top of the mountain looking down at the rest of us. There’s no denying their talent and insight, but they are very much still human, despite the prevailing...

Adam Scott never wanted to be anything other than an actor. He has been devoted to his craft ever since his days of appearing in plays in high school. His first notable professional gig was playing a strung-out deliverer of exposition in the not-at-all-remembered 1994 MTV series "Dead at 21," one of the most 1990s things ever. A few years later, Scott appeared in the final theatrically released "Hellraiser" movie, "Hellraiser: Bloodline" in which he played a sweaty, immortal French aristocrat. That same year, he played the unnamed helmsman of the U.S.S. Defiant in "Star Trek: First Contact." Incidentally, his "Star Trek" character has recently shown up in the video game "Star Trek: Timelines" where he was named Helsman Wyatt, presumably after Ben Wyatt, Scott's character on "Parks and Recreation."
Scott has since had a varied, textured career that included both high-profile jobs and low-profile nothings (this author may...

Twitter has entered a whole new era.
After months of threats, on Thursday, the Elon Musk finally made good on his promise to remove the blue verification checkmarks from users who don’t pay for Twitter Blue.
Since taking over the company last year, the owner and CEO has allowed users to get a coveted blue checkmark by simply paying for the $8-per-month subscription service.
The blue checkmark began its life on Twitter as a method of verifying the identity of notable figures like celebrities and politicians, protecting them from impersonation. It eventually expanded to include journalists and others.
Last month, Twitter announced that starting April 1, blue checkmarks would be removed from accounts not subscribed to Twitter Blue. The date was then pushed back to April 20.

At the same time his wife Erin (Rhea Seehorn) is drifting away from him, as she negotiates her own career. Cameron’s teen daughter Nora (Katelyn Nacon) is going through her own growing pains, as she falls for Marc (Gabriel Rush) and their family worlds collide as Marc’s father is about to take over Cameron’s show. "Remember when we used to talk about doing something fantastic?" Shout Factory has revealed an official trailer for an indie sci-fi film titled Linoleum, which originally premiered at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival last year. It also stopped by many other fests including the Cleveland, Seattle, San Fran, Nantucket, River Run, and Cinequest Film Festivals. It's not really a sci-fi film, more of fantasy drama about a guy who has spent his life hoping he'd make it into space. When the host of a failing children's science show tries to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut by building a rocket in his garage, a series of bizarre events occur that cause him to question his own reality. He tries to build the ship from an old satellite that drops into his backyard, which is a bit strange for a science guy. Jim Gaffigan stars in a dramatic role, one of his best performances,...

Casablanca Records is one of the most influential music labels in history, but the story of its founder, Neil Bogart, isn't as well-known as it should be. Thanks to his affable charm, charismatic screen presence, and seeming agelessness, Paul Rudd has become one of Hollywood's most endearing performers. Though primarily known for his comedic roles, Rudd was classically trained at the beginning of his career, studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts-West and the British Drama Academy at Oxford University. This academic background perhaps lends an emotional truth to Rudd's numerous sarcastic and sardonic characters.
While many actors can play a funny jerk, it's hard to bring warmth and empathy to that same archetype, a specific chemistry Rudd has made his own. Rudd is also known for his frequent collaborations with writer/producer/director Judd Apatow and comedians Michael Ian Black, David Wain, and Michael Showalter. Outside of acting, Rudd is also a producer and writer who has managed to keep both feet in television and film throughout his career. A grounded performer who also loves a good prank,...

Comedians, actors and best friends Kate Berlant and John Early have been making beautifully weird comedy together for a little over a decade. On June 24, they bring their most ambitious sketch project yet to Peacock. Would It Kill You To Laugh? gives the duo a full hour to mine for awkward laughs while exploring some very surreal premises. The show also features a running bit in which the two play former sitcom stars who reunite after 30 years of not speaking for a very uncomfortable primetime interview special hosted by Meredith Vieira. The bit, it turns out, is inspired by a very real situation involving the stars of Three’s Company.

Hollywood is sharing tributes to late comedian Gilbert Gottfried upon news of his passing.
On April 12, the Gottfried family wrote, “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness.”
The family shared on Twitter, “In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend, and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as long as possible in Gilbert’s honor.”
Gottfried was 67 years old. The actor began his career at age 15 in the New York City stand-up comedy circuit before making his TV debut in 1980. Gottfried went on to star on “Saturday Night Live” and famously voiced Iago in “Aladdin,” contributing his iconic voice to many beloved animated series. The 2022 Oscars ceremony was derailed when Will Smith walked onstage and slapped Chris Rock across the face for making a joke about his wife, actor Jada Pinkett Smith. Rock referenced Pinkett Smith’s baldness (she has alopecia) and made a reference to 1997 movie G.I. Jane (which features a bald Demi Moore). Shortly after smacking the comedian, Smith returned to the stage for winning for Best Leading Actor, accepting the award in a bizarre, tearful speech.
As the chaos unfurled on-screen, the program scrambled to defuse the tension in the room.

In a moment that will forever define the 2022 Academy Awards, Will Smith walked onstage after Chris Rock improvised a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and smacked him in the face. While the joke — which poked fun at Jada’s shaved head, after the actress has been vocal about her alopecia diagnosis since 2018 — was in bad taste, fans and attendees at the show alike were absolutely stunned at the hit, which at first seemed improvised, but turned out to be a real-life emotional outburst from Smith.
Further complicating the evening was that Smith won the Oscar for best actor less than an hour later for his work on “King Richard,” and spent much of his speech tearfully justifying his actions to his peers and saying sorry.
“I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I...

Linoleum is certainly something of a curiosity as it strives to use a simple premise to explore, however subtly, themes of loss, identity, and fulfilling a dream of a suburban husband and father who finds a space age satellite drop out of the sky and into his backyard fueling his lost ambition of becoming an astronaut and building a homemade rocket to do just that.
It also provides though a chance for comedian Jim Gaffigan, quickly becoming a prince, if not a king, of the indies to play dual roles and show a little more range than he normally has in past films like another previous SXSW entry, Being Frank. This one had its World Premiere at SXSW tonight in the narrative competition and is like many other films here hopeful for acquisition, most likely a small distributor at best with VOD plans, or even an Amazon which has shown...

There’s a euphoria among film sellers and buyers as SXSW finally convenes Friday in Austin, Texas after a three-year pandemic shutdown.
With the last two editions of the Sundance Film Festival being virtual, and the hybrid edition of TIFF seeing reduced capacities, few industry execs, and a muted atmosphere, SXSW marks the return to packed, receptive audiences; actual live pulses which can trigger good reviews and social media wattage, culminating in what some believe could be an active sales market here in Texas’s capital.
SXSW has a knack for programming comedies, genre, and genre-twisted features; titles which are best experienced by a reactive audience. Sellers previously told Deadline that virtual viewing of such fare at recent fests doesn’t really help their cause. While SXSW is enforcing vaxx cards and mask-wearing indoors, screenings will be at full capacity. In 2019, SXSW drew a reported 73K attendees alone to the...

Josh Groban is taking up hosting duties of the new competition series Eye Candy— based on Nippon TV’s popular game show Sokkuri Sweets set for premiere in August on Roku. Executive produced by Chrissy Teigen, the title was part of now-defunct Quibi’s portfolio acquired by Roku earlier this year.
“I first saw this show in Japan when it was called Sokkuri Sweets and was obsessed with how fun and silly it was,” the Emmy and Grammy Award winner said in a statement. “To be the ringmaster of such insanity is a dream. Bon Appetit.”
The series is centered around teams of celebrities and civilians who will attempt to identify outrageous edible creations designed to look like everyday ordinary objects. The timing of the new series couldn’t be any better as viral videos of cakes disguised as everyday items have been circulating around the internet as of late.

The Daytime Emmy-nominated, Vox Media Studios-produced series will explore in its second season the technological promises of the past, and how close we’ve come to achieving them in 2021. Episodes will cover, for instance, flying cars, robot maids, and teleportation. This marks a slightly different premise from the first season, which saw Brownlee examining different nostalgic tech products alongside special guests like Bill Nye, Casey Neistat, and iJustine.
This season will feature appearances from Bill Gates and Neil deGrasse Tyson; comedians Michael Ian Black, Wyatt Cenac, Negin Farsad, Chris Gethard, and Dulcé Sloan; and YouTubers Jake Baldino, Kevin Lieber, Gali Russell, Austin Evans, Michael Gregory, and Sara Dietschy.
