Bill Nighy’s detective leads a fine cast in this deliciously atmospheric adaptation of Peter Ackroyd’s Victorian murder mystery
All the world’s a bloody stage in this gothic Victorian East End melodrama, splendidly adapted from a 1994 novel by Peter Ackroyd. A tale of theatrical murder drenched in the rich hues of classic-period Hammer, this gaslit treat sets Bill Nighy’s Scotland Yard detective on the trail of a grisly killer in 1880s London. Swinging between the ghoulish gaiety of the music hall and the grim stench of the morgue, the second feature from Insensibles/Painless director Juan Carlos Medina is a deliciously subversive affair, nimbly adapted by super-sharp screenwriter Jane Goldman and vivaciously played by an impressive ensemble cast.
“Let us begin, my friends, at the end,” drawls our host, drawing back the curtain on a city terrorised by a killer named after a beast from Jewish folklore.

The Hollywood Reporter broke news of Johnson’s casting over the weekend, confirming that the former Nashville star saw off strong competition from both Douglas Booth and Jack Lowden to land the role of Hugo, a young man with a deep understanding of the gladiatorial game known as Motorball. Upon crossing paths with Alita, played here by Maze Runner actress Rosa Salazar, the two strike up a friendship, which is something our title cyborg will be cherishing considering Robert Rodriguez’s adaptation will have her locking horns with both Ed Skrein’s Zapan – Damascus blade and all – and a cybernetic villain played by Preacher star Jackie Earl Haley.

In 1813, renowned writer Jane Austen published a book called Pride and Prejudice, which tells the story of the Bennet sisters, who are gussied up and married off to wealthy suitors, one by one. The only sister who seems to question this system is Elizabeth, the rebellious member of the family, who feels strong disdain for the system that treats her more like property than a proper citizen. In 2009, author Seth Grahame-Smith put a new twist on the old tale by creating a parody novel called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which loosely follows the same basic outline, but adds an entirely different obstacle to the tale: the living dead.
In Grahame-Smith’s story, the girls are not only fighting for the right to be married into regal families, but also battling for their lives on a daily basis. An outbreak has occurred within these humble streets, and now flesh-eating zombies...

The zombie apocalypse works as comic foil and conversation starter as well as horror story of the moment. The gore factor is continually being upped by ever more imaginative splatters and gruesome depictions of deterioration from “The Walking Dead” and the crop of zombie media shuffling in its wake. And, much like the vampire fatigue of years past, the zombie may be overstaying its welcome. Zombies aren’t my favorite monster, but I enjoyed “Zombieland” enough to own it, I still think “Shaun of the Dead” is hilarious, and I watch “The Walking Dead.” So, if anyone is to blame, it’s me, because I’ve done it to myself.
I scored tickets for an advance screening of “Pride + Prejudice + Zombies”, and figured, as much as I like genre mashups, I was willing to see what could become of a romance of manners and the monster du jour. I wasn’t ambivalent,...

When a film receives a last-minute delay in the vein of the Wachowski’s Jupiter Ascending, it’s tricky for studios to market the movie all over again in the build-up to release without leaving members of the audience feeling a little jaded. Initially due to arrive during the primetime summer months, Warner Bros. pushed the space-faring adventure all the way back to February to give VFX artists adequate time to render the filmmakers’ grand, galactic vision.
And today, the studio pulled a double whammy by unveiling a new international trailer all the while releasing a selection of beautiful stills that hint at some of the locales we can expect when the film finally debuts early next year.
Starring Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Eddie Redmayne, Tuppence Middleton, Douglas Booth and Sean Bean, Jupiter Ascending tells the tale of Kunis’ everyday, earthbound girl who dreams big. Unbeknownst to her, her Jupiter...

Who is the new Jennifer Love Hewitt? Who is her Freddie Prinze Jr.?
We'll always know what you did last summer*. Because Sony won’t let us forget.
Deadline recently reported that the studio is rebooting I Know What You Did Last Summer, the 1997 slasher film about a group of college kids (Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Ryan Phillippe) who cover up their hit-and-run, only to be stalked and slayed by the very person they thought they killed.
Now our ultimate dream cast for this reboot is present day J.Love, Smg, Freddie Prinze, and Ryan P. playing the same roles they did two decades ago (most are available), but since that definitely won’t happen, we brainstormed a few suggestions:
News: Find out which Schwarzenegger movie is also getting a reboot!

If Ariana Grande played the part we could finally see her without that ponytail...

After many delays, filming finally kicks off this month on the feature film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and another new cast member has been added. "Shameless" and "True Blood" actress Emma Greenwell is the latest to join the fray.
Per Variety, Greenwell will portray the sister of Douglas Booth's character, Mr. Bingley, the good-natured and wealthy pal of Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley).
The film co-stars Lily James as Elizabeth Bennet, Jack Huston as George Wickham, and Bella Heathcote as Elizabeth's sister. Huston's Wickham and James' Bennet are immediately attracted to each other, and he’s familiar with her combat skills. Wickham aims to teach zombies to fight, and he wins her over with his theories regarding training them.
Burr Steers (Igby Goes Down, Charlie St. Cloud) will direct from a screenplay by himself and David O. Russell based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s mash-up novel.

Update: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies just won't die, and hopefully the new cast will give it the breath of life it needs to make the parody film work. Lily Collins is now out, but Lily James (the new Cinderella) is in. Other new cast members include Sam Riley (Maleficent), Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows), Douglas Booth (Romeo & Juliet) as Mr. Darcy's friend Bingley and Emma Greenwell ("Shameless") as Bingley's sister, and Jack Huston (Kill Your Darlings) as the handsome Lt. Wickham. It hasn't been clarified if Riley is playing Mr. Darcy or if that role has yet to be cast.

Don’t you think it’s time for Tay Tay to hop in another Maserati and drive it down a dead-end street? After seeing the singer stun at the Golden Globes on Jan. 12 (and flirt with Jared at the after-party), we decided to pick a handful of leading men for her to choose from.
For all the grief Taylor Swift gets about her busy love life, she did a pretty good job of staying under the radar in 2013 after her debacle with Harry Styles. But enough of that — Taylor needs to find new love (and we need want some new music from her). So to help out, we compiled a studly list of eligible guys for the singer to choose from.
Taylor Swift: Who Should She Date Next?
1. Jared Leto
We haven’t been shy about matching up these two. They looked adorable flirting at a Golden Globes after-party on Jan.

Last year I made a list of my 50 most anticipated movies of 2013, but this year I struggled putting together a list of 40. The kind of movies I used to anticipate don't get me brimming with excitement as much as they saturate the market and we can fully expect to see one nearly every weekend and this year it starts early with Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit on January 17. So no need to anticipate them, they'll be here soon enough, but I've already discussed all this, no need to trod the same path over again. My list would have also been easier to make had I not already seen six films you may want to add to your list of most anticipated: Dom Hemingway (April 4) Read My Review Enemy (March 14) Read My Review Ernest & Celestine (March 14) Only Lovers Left Alive (April 11) Read My Review Under the Skin (April 4) Read My Review Venus...
