When someone asks you, "Wanna buy some Death Sticks?" -- just say no. Unless you're Obi-Wan Kenobi, in which case you can use a Jedi mind trick to convince the dealer that they don't want to sell you Death Sticks, and that they should instead go home and rethink their life.
It's a small throwaway moment in "Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones," but Elan Sleazebaggano (as he's identified in the credits) has become one of those extremely minor "Star Wars" characters regarded with fondness by fans -- like Porkins, Max Rebo, or Glup Shitto. "Everyone knows the 'Death Sticks Guy,'" declared the Death Sticks Guy himself, Matt Doran, in a recent interview with Empire magazine. "It's such a short scene, but it's amazing just how many people reacted to that one little tiny moment."

Ever since he first popped up in Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Mace Windu has been one of the baddest motherfu- sorry, baddest Jedi Masters in the business. Quite literally, in fact – Samuel L. Jackson has the letters ‘Bmf’ etched into the hilt of the lightsaber he kept. And so, since we never actually saw him perish, there have long been rumours – and wishes from fans – that maybe, just maybe, he didn’t die in Episode III – Revenge Of The Sith. Sure, his hand was sliced off by Anakin, and he was seriously sizzled by Palpatine’s Force lightning before being flung from a window into the Coruscant sky. But in the Star Wars galaxy, is that really enough to kill the coolest Jedi?
Not according to Jackson. For the new issue of Empire – celebrating 25 years of the Star Wars prequels – we fired off a few questions about the galaxy far,...

Star Wars Prequel Cast Revisits The Trilogy 25 Years Later In Empire’s Anniversary Issue – Exclusive
Back in 1999, a brand new era in the galaxy far, far away came to life. George Lucas’ Star Wars prequels told an epic tale of fallen Jedi, forbidden romance, and the dismantling of democracy – assembling a whole new cast to inhabit his vast space-opera. The stars who entered that sandbox took a bold step, not only working at the frontier of digital filmmaking techniques, but conjuring a Star Wars saga that stood apart visually and tonally from the beloved originals. The likes of Hayden Christensen, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Liam Neeson and Ian McDiarmid became an entire generation’s set of Star Wars heroes (and villains) – and they all spoke to Empire for our epic new issue, celebrating 25 years of the trilogy.
For Ewan McGregor, the pressure of playing the young Obi-Wan Kenobi was eased by working alongside Liam Neeson – whose Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn suffers a noble end in...

The fall of Anakin Skywalker. The collapse of the Galactic Republic. The rise of Emperor Palpatine and creation of Darth Vader. It’s been 25 years since the Star Wars prequels changed everything – back in 1999, The Phantom Menace exploded into cinemas in an unprecedented cultural event. In its wake followed Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith, unspooling George Lucas’ visionary, technically ambitious, and thematically-dense trilogy of tragedy. The reception at the time was unsteady; today, they’re hailed as a vital and beloved era of Star Wars history.
The new issue of Empire is an epic celebration of Episodes I, II, and III, revisiting the movies with the people who made them. Inside, we have brand new cast interviews, including major conversations – and exclusive photo shoots – with Anakin Skywalker himself, Hayden Christensen, and the one and only Emperor Palpatine, Ian McDiarmid; also speaking to Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman,...

"The Matrix," it's been said, is a story with myriad interpretations. It's part messianic myth, part trans allegory, part exploration of choice theory. At the end of the day though, "The Matrix" is also a love story. This probably wasn't very obvious until the saga pivoted from the sleek, apocalyptic action of the initial trilogy and dove headfirst into romance with "The Matrix Resurrections." But the films have actually always been about love: if you didn't realize it before, you may not have been looking hard enough.
The romance between Neo (Keanu Reeves) and his ride-or-die, Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), is one of the major pillars of the "Matrix" saga. Their love is not the showiest aspect of the series — and until recently, one might have seen it as more of an afterthought. But even before "Resurrections" dedicated its story to the earth-altering power of love, Neo and Trinity were the template for sci-fi romance.

When it comes to apologies, this man's mea culpa to Adele is (rolling in the) deep. On Saturday, Nov. 27, Matt Doran, a journalist and co-host of Australian TV show Weekend Sunrise, concluded his broadcast by addressing an embarrassing incident that drew scorn on social media: He recently admitted that while interviewing Adele, he disclosed that he had "only had the privilege of hearing" her new single "Easy On Me." However, Doran was previously offered the chance to listen to the singer's entire long-awaited new album, 30, and failed to notice a work email containing a link to it, making him ill-prepared for the interview, which ultimately was never...

Outnumbered. Outgunned. Never Out of Courage.
It seems like it’s been awhile since we’ve seen a movie set during the Vietnam war, but we’ve got one coming called Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan and it tells a pretty crazy story.
The film tells the harrowing true story of 108 young and inexperienced Australian and New Zealand soldiers who are forced to fight to survive against 2,500 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong soldiers who are attacking them.
This is the kind of intense survival war story that I love to hear about and it looks like it going to make for a solid film. The movie my not have any big name actors in it, but it looks good and I’ll watch it! Here’s the synopsis:
Late afternoon August 18, 1966 South Vietnam – for three and a half hours, in the pouring rain, amid the mud and shattered...

The Star Wars movies have become such a part of pop culture that references to those films can be found all over cinema today. The fact that so many movies make reference to Star Wars may be the reason that we apparently didn.t dig into the movies themselves for references to other movies, but it turns out they.re there. The prequels came out many years later, after all. It turns out that one of them actually includes a reference to another science fiction film, and that reference has only now been noticed. The scene in question takes place in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Obi-Wan and Anakin have entered a bar and another patron tries to sell Obi-Wan a "death stick." The actor in question, in the image above, is named Matt Doran and in addition to playing the "death stick" guy, he also...

Film: "Battle of the Damned"; Cast: Dolph Lundgren, Melanie Zanetti, Matt Doran, Jen Sung Outerbridge, Lydia Look, Oda Maria, Esteban Cueto, David Field; Director: Christopher Hatton; Rating: *
To watch "Battle of the Damned" is like rotting in hell with zombies, killer robots, obtuse-damned survivors and an overdose of innate absurdity that is prevalent in the film.
The film begins with a 15-minute prologue that seems to be detached from the film. It is revealed that Army Major Max Gatling (Dolph Lundgren) is dispatched by a desperate rich and influential man, head of a biotech company, to rescue his daughter Jude (Melanie Zanetti) from a zombie-infested city.
No sooner has Jude's father delivered the necessary.

Director/writer: Christopher Hatton. Cast: Dolph Lundgren, Melanie Zanetti, Matt Doran, David Field and Jen Sung. Battle of the Damned is an indie actioner from Bleiberg Entertainment. This viewer knows Bleiberg more from its acquisition and sales in film. However, this company's action production arm, Compound B, has brought together a memorable outing in their latest collabortion. A throwback to action films of the late '80s and early '90s, Battle of the Damned places actor Dolph Lundgren as Max Gatling in the middle of an environmental disaster. This title focuses on violent action and a few characters, with the film delivering some light entertainment. Battle of the Damned is an indie action film of note and fans of strong heroes with few lines will enjoy this straight-to-video outing. It is all about the rescue. The central character Max is tasked with infiltrating a walled off city, in Thailand.

Honestly, what more do you need to know about 'Battle Of The Damned' other than it's got Dolph Lundgren and is a movie about killer robotos versus zombies? Sold! Anchor Bay Entertainment unleashes this beast onto Blu-Ray and DVD on February 18th, but to tide you over until then, we've got both a green-band and a red-band trailer. Both are slightly tonely different, so I recommend starting with the green-band. If you want to hear a killer robot say the "F" word, then follow it up with the red-band. See 'em both below!
'Battle Of The Damned' is written and directed by Christopher Hatton and produced by Ehud Bleiberg, Leon Tong and Hatton. It stars Dolph Lundgren ('The Expendables'), Matt Doran ('The Matrix'), David Field ('Chopper') & Esteban Cueto ('Fast Five').

As fans of action movies we have to sit through some truly horrible movies just to enjoy the scenes where a big action hero makes his appearance and makes some smart assed comment. This is what I thought I’d be getting with Battle of the Damned. The thing is though, when you put Dolph Lundgren, robots and some questionable zombies together you actually get quite a good movie!

We're not into giving out spoilers, but in the upcoming new psychological horror film "Stoker" by "Oldboy" director Chan-wook Park, a certain character not only doesn't make it out alive, their only purpose in the film seemed to be ... to die.
Looks like someone just had a red shirt moment.
"Red shirt," of course, refers the the classic "Star Trek" habit of having random Enterprise crew members — inevitably wearing a blood red uniform — accompany Spock and Kirk on a dangerous mission, only to die terribly while the main characters get away without a scratch.
So in honor of "Stoker," here's a look at some of our favorite red shirts in film history. Because if someone has to die, it might as well be someone we don't care at all about. Caution: Non-"Stoker" spoilers ahead!
Marvin in "Pulp Fiction"
As someone once famously said, "Aw, man, I shot Marvin in the face!

Battle of the Damned is a science fiction film that blends elements of horror into its story. The infectious lurk about. In the film's setting, an underground lab has been compromised. Now, hundreds of the infected are swarming topside. Automatons have also been released. Only a few scientists have survived and they must fight off both the disease ridden and these killer machines. This title is still in development, but a special effects test is available. Fans of b-movies can see the dark settings and antagonists in this clip. Characters are also shown, but only briefly. The environments are truly apocalyptic. As well, the test shoot seems slightly drained of colour. This quality enhances the already bleak environments. Have a look at the short clip below. Release Date: 2013. Director/writer: Christopher Hatton. Cast: Dolph Lundgren, Matt Doran and Lydia Look. The film's special effects test is here: *Battle of the...
