It’s been over 10 years since Speedy Ortiz shared their debut album, Major Arcana. Now, the beloved indie quartet is paying homage to the record with a 10th anniversary reissue featuring remastered versions of the songs, due out on November 17th. Listen to the first preview — a remastered version of “Tiger Tank” — below.
Major Arcana became an indie hit when it dropped in 2013, with Consequence’s Katherine Flynn writing at the time that Speedy Ortiz had masterfully utilized older sounds and styles, while still offering something entirely new and compellingly raw. “This is the real deal, ripped from notebook pages, the torn, frilly edges still hanging on,” Flynn wrote.
For her part, Speedy Ortiz’s Sadie Dupuis explained that the album is teeming with the energy of the band’s early, DIY days. “Speedy made Major Arcana in a flash of momentum — four days of recording at Sonelab with our pal Justin Pizzoferrato,...

In an exclusive new interview with Closer Weekly, Jane Seymour shares a tradition that's been handed down by the women in her family. "My mother said, ‘You have to accept whatever’s happened in your life, open your heart and reach out to help someone else,'" Jane recalled of her late mom, Mieke, who'd survived being held in an internment camp during World War II. Now Jane's daughter, Katherine Flynn, 36, is teaching her kids to do the same thing. "Giving back has always been a big part of our lives," she says. Jane and Katherine. (Photo Credit: Getty Images) Now both Jane and her daughter are working "to support one another in our journeys," Jane says. "That's what my mother taught me and what Katie got without me having to teach her. And her children are the same way! Even the two-year-old, she just loves to help out." "They’re amazing,...

Stormhouse
Stars: Katherine Flynn, Grant Masters, Grahame Fox, Patrick Flynn | Written by Jason Arnopp | Directed by Dan Turner
It’s 2002, some eight months before the (second) invasion of Iraq, and the military have captured and caged a supernatural entity at Stormhouse, a top secret underground military installation. Looking to make contact with the entity, they bring in “ghost whisperer” Hayley Sands (Katherine Flynn). After witnessing the facilities so-called experiments, Sands realises that the military in Stormhouse are a law unto themselves and tries to blow the whistle. When her actions are uncovered by the soldiers running Stormhouse they punish her by throwing her into the cage where the entity is kept, and that’s when everything goes to hell – literally.
Stormhouse was penned by the UK’s very own Jason Arnopp, who previously wrote a couple of Doctor Who audiobooks for the BBC and Big Finish, and it’s easy...

Director: Dan Turner.
Writers: Jason Arnopp.
Cast: Katherine Flynn, Grant Masters and Patrick Flynn.
Political agendas are at work in Stormhouse. In an underground bunker, the military has managed to cage a supernatural entity and although the reasons why are never fully revealed, the idea is that they want to tame the savage beast. The generals want to use this entity in its war on terror. This movie takes place many months before the invasion of Iraq.
Otherwise, why else would the armed forces want it? Just what is this covert group of military minds thinking? They recruit a ghost whisperer, Hayley Sands (Katherine Flynn), to make a contact with this untamed force. But since she is a civilian, she is not going to be an obedient soldier. While this type of plotting is nothing new, the attempt at mind washing is intriguing, if not terrifying for those looking for secret messages.

Title: Stormhouse Directed by: Dan Turner Starring: Katherine Flynn, Grant Masters, Martin Delaney, Grahame Fox Running time: 88 minutes, Rated R Hayley Sands, a girl who can communicate with the dead, is brought to a secret underground military base called Stormhouse where a supernatural entity is being held captive behind a reverse electromagnetic fence…but the fence won’t hold for long. Allegedly this film is based on true events, which makes sense because real life is boring, much like this film. Sure it’s got special effects, buckets of blood, trash talking possessed people and a haunted basketball…wait, Wtf? The dialogue was juvenile, the acting was next to terrible and the ending...

Title: Stormhouse Directed by: Dan Turner Starring: Katherine Flynn, Grant Masters and Patrick Flynn When you first sit down, waiting to check out a new horror film you hope that it’ll either scare the hell out of you, disgust you, make you feel uncomfortable or all of the above. You would hope “Stormhouse” would fall into one of those categories but it instead falls into the ‘unintentionally funny’ sector. “Stormhouse” centers on a secret underground military base where a group of soldiers have captured a dangerous paranormal entity. When they bring in the overly-bubbly American Hayley Sands (Katherine Flynn) to communicate with the entity, everything goes haywire at the complex...

The supernatural feature Stormhouse is set for its U.S. premiere at the Screamfest La Film Festival on Saturday, October 22nd, and in honor of the occasion we spoke with the film's writer Jason Arnopp and director Dan Turner.
Penned by Arnopp and produced by he and Dean Fisher with directorial duties handled by Turner, Stormhouse stars Katie Flynn (daughter of Jane Seymour), Grahame Fox, Patrick Flynn and Grant Masters. The film's synopsis is as follows: Six months before the invasion of Iraq, the British military caught and imprisoned a supernatural entity at a secret base in the English countryside. This film documents the days that followed, culminating in a battle that transcends their worst nightmares.
Filmed last year, director Turner told us of the Stormhouse production, “The whole turnaround from script to screen was very, very fast. We had the idea in May 2010, and by August 2010 we were shooting.

Screamfest La, the preeminent horror festival in the country, kicks off its 11th annual event in Los Angeles on October 14 and runs through October 23. Festival founder Rachel Belofsky announced the first wave of this year's entries, and if I were you, I'd do my best to be in La during those dates!

The annual festival, honoring the best in horror and fantasy and those who bring it to life, takes place at the Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood & Highland Center (6801 Hollywood Blvd).

At some point in 2002, months before the invasion of Iraq, Hayley Sands (Katherine Flynn) was recruited by the British military for her ability to commune with the dead. Arriving at the Stormhouse (which is not, it turns out, also an anagram of Doctor Who) facility, Sands is introduced to the entity under observation by the military.
Making instant friends with fellow phantom enthusiast Justin Rourke (Patrick Flynn) and soon butting horns with hardened soldier Major Anthony Lester (Grant Masters), Sands dutifully manages to rouse the entity from it’s recent inactivity. With the creature soon on the loose, however, just what exactly is the mysterious game it wishes to play?
Filmed on location at an abandoned military base, and with the actors required to remain onset throughout filming for added authenticity, Stormhouse at least looks the part. The sets – particularly the holding bay itself and the titanic adjoining corridor – are utilized to breathtaking effect,...

A low budget British horror set almost entirely in an underground bunker, inside of which the army have captured a supernatural entity and are holding it in a kind of Emp Faraday cage. An American woman who claims to have psychic powers visits the bunker and tries to make contact with the creature, which has begun to penetrate the field and find ways to posses the soldiers and scientists, playing malevolent games and generally adding to the air of cabin fever.
The first words on my notes for this films simply say, "Oh dear." It's hard not to notice the low budget immediately, as well as the patchy acting and very simple, slightly wonky script, all of which sadly make Stormhouse a bit of a clunker. I can't really fault any...

Nine British and Irish films were announced in the press release ahead of the full programme launch later this month, and represent how the Edinburgh International Film Festival will continue to be a cutting-edge platform for UK film.
James Mullighan, director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, said of the films selected:

Chicago – Jane Seymour is a memorable beauty, and has found success in virtually all areas of the media. After breaking through with films such as “Live and Let Die” and “Somewhere in Time,” she was “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” for six seasons on TV. She returns with “Perfectly Prudence” on the Hallmark channel.
The television movie marks the second time Seymour has played Prudence McCoy, a British version of Martha Stewart. In this go around, new producers come in to remake Prudence’s show. One of the producers is played by Joe Lando, notable because he was Seymour’s Dr Quinn co-star throughout the series. Their on-screen chemistry is revived, and the complications of re-tooling Prudence gives this adventure a comic touch.

HollywoodNews.com: Will 2011 be the year that Tom Sturridge joins his close pal Robert Pattinson as a leading big screen dreamboat? That’s what some movie insiders are predicting, with the 25-year-old British actor of “Vanity Fair” and “Pirate Radio” fame coming up with back-to-back films of interest this year, including the highly-anticipated adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” with Kristen Stewart and Garrett Hedlund.
First, however, there is the February release, “Waiting for Forever,” in which Sturridge plays a street performing juggler who chases after the love of his life, “The O.C.’s” Rachel Bilson. The cast also includes “The Vampire Diaries”‘ Matthew Davis, “Eurotrip’s” Scott Mechlowicz, Blythe Danner, Nikki Blonsky, and Richard Jenkins.
“It’s hard to describe. It’s somewhere between a love story and a quirky kind of comedy. It will make you laugh and cry,...

There are a lot of horrors that take place in Iraq every day, and that's why it's as important as ever to bring our troops back home safe and sound. Dan Turner's new film Stormhouse however deals with a much different kind of mid-east terror.
Av Pictures'Stormhouse stars Katie Flynn, Grahame Fox, Patrick Flynn, and Grant Master. Check out the plot crunch and an early still below.
Synopsis
Six months before the invasion of Iraq, the British military caught and imprisoned a supernatural entity at a secret base in the English countryside. This film documents the days that followed, culminating in a battle that transcends their worst nightmares.
Riding the wave of high-concept horror films such as Paranormal Activity and Rec, Stormhouse is further proof that in this genre a high-profile cast isn't required to achieve phenomenal box office success.

This past weekend (before 8:25 pm Saturday evening, if the comments on their Facebook page are accurate), Atom’s newest original series, Quitters, hit 100,000 views since the first episode premiered July 16. That’s no small feat in the increasingly crowded web series world, so I decided to check out the three episodes they have available for myself to see what makes the show tick. First off, the show is produced by Jamie Bullock of No Mimes Media. They are primarily known for their ARGs, but No Mimes seems to have a great handle on how to market their content on the web to not just create awareness, but actually bring the eyeballs to where they need them. One thing that has to help with that is the appearance of Jane Seymour as a regular. The show’s Facebook page is full of links to interviews that Jane has done where...
