According to departed "Star Trek: Discovery" showrunner Brian Fuller ("Star Trek: Voyager"), the producer was envisioning not another "to boldly go" "Star Trek" series, but multiple serialized anthology shows "...that would begin with 'Star Trek: Discovery', as a prequel to the first series, then journey past those eras of 'Captain James T. Kirk', 'Captain Jean Luc Picard'" and a whole lot more:
"The original pitch was to do for science-fiction what 'American Horror Story' had done for horror," said Fuller.
"It would platform a universe of 'Star Trek' shows."

American Gods, the unconventional new drama from Starz, is the latest mind-bending show to go all-in on off-the-wall. How so, you ask? For starters, the premiere episode features, among other things, Vikings, a towering Leprechaun, a ghostly white buffalo with flaming eyes, a massive tree with talons at the end of its branches and a vicious gang of faceless cyber thugs called the Children. Also, at one point, a man is swallowed whole by a woman's vagina.

Neil Gaiman ranks among the most celebrated storytellers of our time. A gifted writer with a penchant for crafting odd tales with mythological underpinnings, he’s written novels, short story collections and even comics that speak to the most curious, most human parts of ourselves. It’s difficult to pick a favorite amongst his many brilliant works, but most regard his groundbreaking American Gods to be his greatest achievement as a writer.
Two of Gaiman’s stories, Coraline and Stardust, have already received book-to-screen translations, and the forthcoming adaptation of American Gods (premiering on Starz in April) will see the author’s seminal work fitted for television. Produced by Brian Fuller, the series will follow protagonist Shadow Moon as he navigates a world populated by beings he doesn’t yet understand. Fresh out of...

Usually, when writing these lists, we set the halfway point to define the good versus bad. But while “Gilmore Girls” does not lack for adversaries and antagonists, the fact is that so many of these characters have such charms that ranking them was a real challenge.

Gilmore Girls is quite literally getting the band back together. The band being Hep Alien, naturally. Lane Kim (Keiko Agena), Brian Fuller (John Cabrera), Gil (Sebastian Bach) and Zack Van Gerbig (Todd Lowe), together again! Bach visited the Stars Hollow set and posted the above photo signaling Gil's return to Stars Hollow for the Netflix revival. No sighting of Dave Rygalski (Adam Brody). Cabrera took to Instagram to post a few group selfies of Hep Alien. "Four people who have been trying to get in another shot together for almost a decade. #ilovethesekids," he said with the photo. Bach's just the latest of a long list of Gilmore Girls veterans returning for the four-part revival series on...

When Hannibal was announced as a new television show nobody could have guessed what a success it would become, most worried that it would take their much-loved character and do evil remake things to him. All worry faded with the introduction of Hannibal as portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen, his portrayal brought us a new Hannibal who could sit with price next to Anthony Hopkins’ version. To create this success though it wasn’t just down to Mikkelsen, but also a hell of a lot of work that went on behind the scenes to create the show. We get a glimpse into what it took to create the show in Jesse McClean’s new book The Art and Making of Hannibal the Television Series.
The show is a successful merging of psychological horror, plenty of gore and more than a generous helping of culinary obsession. It comes as no surprise that...

One of TV’s most underrated shows has finally begun to generate some of the attention it deserves in the form of fervent critical acclaim and a devoted cult fanbase. I’m of course talking about NBC’s Hannibal. While the show’s basic premise is inspired by Thomas Harris’ novel, Red Dragon, series creator Brian Fuller has carved out (no pun intended) a unique psychological thriller that is visually stunning, despite its nightmarish tone.
Hugh Dancy stars as Will Graham, a special investigator for the FBI whose vivid (and often burdensome) imagination allows him to understand the mindset of killers. Along with Special Agent Jack Crawford (Lawrence Fishburne), the two seek the assistance of Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) to investigate a series of puzzling crimes. Of course, they have no idea that Hannibal is himself a serial killer.

Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) and Will Graham’s (Hugh Dancy) relationship features significant homoerotic subtext on NBC’s Hannibal. While some involved in the project shrug off the gay undertones, others acknowledge that something does seem to be going on between the two characters.
Is Hannibal Lecter Gay?
Actor Scott Thompson, who plays Jimmy Price on Hannibal, thinks it’s perfectly possibly that things could turn overtly sexual between Lecter and Graham. Putting himself in their shoes, Thompson, who is openly gay, can empathize with the idea of someone consenting to sex with a person not of their preferred gender.
“Most people just need a little nudge into [a] sexuality that’s not in their world. And I think everybody probably have someone that’s the wrong gender that they could have sex with,” Thompson told uInterview, explaining, “You know, if Michelle Rodriguez came at me with a strap on I might go,...

There comes a time when examining mainstream media where one runs across a race issue or two. Or seven. Or two-dozen. I’m not sure how much weight to put on the race part of this week’s discussion, but I’m fairly sure talking about it won’t hurt anyone. So let’s talk about Jamie Foxx and Spawn.
Several people and outlets have put together recent comments made by Jamie Foxx about roles he’d like to play with Spawn-creator Todd MacFarlane’s ongoing insistence he’d like to reboot his character into a...

Yesterday NBC premiered what promises to become one incredible ride through the mind of one of the most troubled man in literature, as well as a quick view of one of the most well known serial killers in fiction. I’m talking about the superb Hannibal, a series that could only be delivered by Brian Fuller.

However, when the case seems to be very complicated, agent Jack Crawford enlists the help of no other than Dr. Hannibal Lecter.

According to the The Hollywood Reporter, NBC will unveil the pilot for "Mockingbird Lane." The plan is to air the pilot, which ws directed by Bryan Singer ("X-Men") as a Halloween special. No exact date has been specified at this moment. While it is good news that people will be able to view Brian Fuller's version of The Munsters for the first time, it still doesn't feel very optimistic. Actually it feels like a hail mary, a last desperate attempt to see if the show can find an audience. Can't blame NBC for making the attempt as the show has already cost them a reported $10 million. Ouch! The pilot, written by Bryan Fuller and to be directed by Bryan Singer, is described as a reinvention of the 1960s sitcom about The Munsters, a family of “monsters” — vampires, werewolves and Frankenstein, and their “plain” cousin (Charity Wakefield) — that will feature...

NBC will be bringing Mockingbird Lane back, and showrunner Brian Fuller had some insight to bestow at this years’ Comic-Con. Fuller, apparently eager to discuss the project spoke on a multitude of different aspects of the series, and quite honestly, provides us fans and readers with far more information than may be expected. From the direction the show will take, to the modernized approach to the show, all the way down to the utilization of computer generated visuals, Fuller held little back. It sounds as though Herman’s internal issues will serve as the focus of the pilot, and Brian expanded on...

Let me make one thing clear: I really liked the remake of Battlestar Galactica. Seriously, I did. Ok? Now that that's out of the way, here is this week's hypothesis:
TV Remakes Are Bad Mojo.
It's not that I think producing series that have already been made shows a lack of originality or ambition (which I do). It's not that rehashing shows from the past reduces the chances for new; unique ideas to succeed (which it does). It's not even that I intensely dislike almost all of the TV that has ever been remade (before you set your Tweet to stun, see the BSG comment above).
I claim that TV Remakes are bad juju, because I have done the research, and it is simply, conclusively, unquestionably, factually true. Skeptical? Here is a chart laying out the historical success/failure rate of TV Remakes, show by show:

I don't have the disdain for remakes that most people have. My thinking is the original version is always there to fall back on. If you don't like the remake then simply don't watch it. Take the Three Stooges film for example. I love the original Three Stooges, but have no interest in the film. Most importantly the new film doesn't tarnish the old classic Three Stooges.I'm taking all this time to somehow segue into this Munsters remake that's been kicking around for a while. Movie Hole has some info on the new Munsters series, which will apparently be a "dark dramedy" centering on the troubling adolescence of Eddie Munster.*** Some spoilery things below so skip this if you want to go in fresh ***Evidently Eddie is having trouble because he is a werewolf. If this sounds familiar, like you've heard this same story just over a year ago, then don't worry you're not crazy. Brian Fuller last season had tried to reboot the classic 60's comedy. A pilot was ordered, but the first script was less than satisfactory, so NBC didn't move ahead. In the past year things have changed as the new NBC chief Bob Greenblatt took over the network, and decided to keep The Munsters alive. Apparently Fuller has worked out the kinks in the initial script, and all steam ahead. The Munsters was a classic 1960's television show that only last for two seasons. The showed starred starred; Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster, Al Lewis as Grandpa Munster, Yvonne De Carlo as Lily Munster, Butch Patrick as Eddie Munster and Pat Priest as Marilyn Munster. It came out right around the same time The Adam's Family. Both shows shared short...

From the "just when you think you've heard it all" department comes word that NBC and Brian Fuller (Pushing Daisies) are considering remaking the creepy family from 1313 Mockingbird Lane -- The Munsters.

Back when ABC aired the final three episodes of cancelled Pushing Daisies, series creator Brian Fuller said that he was working on a series of 12 issues of comic books. His intention was to fill in the gap between what we saw in the last episode and the brief flash forward that ended it.
He teased, "I think the comic book is great, because it has all the characters in it, and it starts a new story. It's basically Chuck, Ned, Emerson and Olive versus 1,000 corpses, so it becomes a zombie movie, but the zombies are articulate and smart and can do things that no other zombies can do. Variety is reporting that Warner Brothers plan to bring Pinocchio back to the big screen in a new live-action adventure.
The article claims that Dan Jinks and Nick Nanell will produce through their Dan Jinks Co. banner while Brian Fuller has been tapped for script writing duties.
Reportedly inspired by Tim Burton’s box office juggernaut Alice in Wonderland, Jinks claims to have found a fresh way of approaching the character previously brought to life by Disney in 1940, adding:
“Pinocchio is one of the most emotional fairytales, I’m over the moon at the opportunity to play with all the characters in this box with a large-scale re-telling.”
Pinocchio was last seen onscreen in 2002, a project for which Roberto Benigni starred and directed. This followed a failed attempt to develop a feature at Warner Bros., which Francis Ford Coppola attempted to produce before the project stalled.

First things first, is Pinocchio Italian? Sounds like an Italian name doesn't it?
There has been a huge surge of classic animated properties coming to the big screen in live-action format. We've just learned that Warner Bros. is planning to put Pinocchio on this list of cartoons to bring to life. In fact, they even got Dan Jinks, the producer for 'Milk' and 'American Beauty' to produce it and Brian Fuller (writer for Heroes TV series) to write the script.

John Cabrera is best known as playing Hep Alien band member Brian Fuller: "In 2002 I was cast on a TV show called Gilmore Girls, in a role I thought would only last one episode. I returned for 31 more over the next five years", according to his blog. Last week, he announced he's joining the web series world by creating an indie-rock musical. Obviously the concept of a web series musical isn't a new one and many of them have found great success, from the fan-created Horrible Turn that went on to become nominated for a Streamy Award for original music, I Kissed a Vampire, which is now going on to become a feature film. Oh, and that little series Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, which, you know, did okay. What is original about this series is the way in which it is being cast...in a completely open, full-scale internet search.
