Two-time Academy Award-nominated actor Jonah Hill is set to host Saturday Night Live for the fourth time. He will kick off November as host with Maggie Rogers as the musical guest.
Currently starring on the Cary Fukunaga-created Netflix series Maniac opposite Emma Stone, Hill first hosted SNL in 2008 after the success of Superbad. He then came back in 2012 to host during the success of 21 Jump Street. His last appearance as host on the show was in 2016. We might see the return of his SNL character Adam Grossman, a precocious child who acts as if he is an insult comedian.
After his stint as host in November, Hill will be one hosting gig away from being inducted into SNL‘s Five-Timers club which includes Tom Hanks, Alec Baldwin, John Goodman, Christopher Walken, Drew Barrymore, Justin Timberlake, Ben Affleck, Scarlett Johansson, Melissa McCarthy, and Dwayne Johnson.

Our host for tonight is Jonah Hill, appearing in his fourth hosting gig in just twice as many years. When it comes to hosting, Hill is like one of those basketball players who’s around for forever, and is consistently good, but not necessarily an MVP (This is the time where I would mention an actual basketball player if I knew anything about sports, but one doesn’t become a TV recapper by knowing things about sports). Basically, I was a little surprised to see that Hill is only one hosting gig away from joining the elusive five-timer’s club, but as I watched his past episodes in preparation for tonight, I could see why-- he’s a good character actor and thus can bring range to the brief roles he gets in sketches, he breaks approximately once an episode but never more, and he always seems genuinely grateful and excited to be there.

Jonah Hill is one of the very few SNL hosts with a reoccurring character. And what a character it is. Hill has played Adam Grossman, the 6-year-old who acts like he's a 70-year-old insult comedian, three times, including when he hosted this past season. Last night on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Hill told the story of creating the character. He also said that one time he had to stand up to Lorne Michaels about him, as Michaels wanted the character to age each time. "I'm 6!" Hill retorted.

Martin Scorsese’s one and only muse, Jonah Hill, hosted Saturday Night Live for the third time over the weekend, and not only did he bring along his Wolf of Wall Street sidekick, Leonardo DiCaprio — an SNL virgin — but he also reunited with his Superbad pal Michael Cera. Hill, who may have forgotten to mention that he’s now a two-time Oscar nominee (for Wolf and Moneyball), also resurrected his Catskills-comic-inspired 6-year-old Adam Grossman and… and…

Jonah Hill hosted "Saturday Night Live" for the third time on Jan. 25, and he was joined by not only his "Wolf of Wall Street" co-star Leonardo DiCaprio (making every female in the country extremely jealous when they re-created an iconic "Titanic" scene) but he was also reunited with his "Superbad" co-star and Bff Michael Cera for a hilarious and meta Spike Jonze parody.
All in all, Hill made it clear why he was completing an "SNL" hat trick with his commitment to all his sketches and willingness to do anything ... even wear women's makeup. Watch his best and worst sketches below:

Jonah Hill hosted Saturday Night Live this week and stands as one of the best hosts of the season so far. The best moment of the evening was a surprise visit from Leonardo DiCaprio during Hill's monologue. Hill was pretending to show-boat about his Oscar nominations and peg himself as the real powerhouse behind "The Wolf of Wall Street" when DiCaprio snuck onto the stage and turned Hill's arrogance into a teaching moment. They were adorable. For the rest of the evening, Hill reprised his character of Adam Grossman, a six-year-old with a bounty of ancient stand-up jokes in his back pocket, ready to entertain all patrons at Benihana. Hill made a subtly ironic turn in a commercial for a sequel to "Her" called "Me" in which he voiced his own version of Samantha. (Michael Cera made an hilarious cameo.) He also crashed the skit of ex-porn stars trying to...

If you happened to tune in to SNL after Jonah Hill’s monologue, you probably thought it was an uneven mix of sketches with a laugh here and there. If you viewed the show in its entirety like I did, your ride started off with a Bang and slowly lost steam as the episode went along, but not without hitting a few other highs (and lows) along the way. Hill was returning for his third time in the host’s seat (or the Benihana seat), a strong addition to his Actor’s Stat Card, which also now reads, “two-time Academy Award nominee.

Jonah Hill returned to Studio 8H last night (with musical guest Bastille) to host Saturday Night Live for the third time. Last time, jokes were made at his expense in regards to how his Oscar nomination had changed him. This time, his Wolf of Wall Street co-star Leonardo DiCaprio stepped in during his monologue to put Hill in line and to recreate DiCaprio’s most famous cinematic moment.
Jonah Hill is one of the few actors who has made the transition from film funny guy to serious respected actor. The only question is, “Can he act humble in the press about it?” Hill seemed to be in on the joke that he can’t stop name-dropping Marty Scorsese and Brad Pitt, so it was a fun surprise to see Leonardo DiCaprio crash his self-aggrandizing monologue to put him in his place. However, things took an even more delightful turn when...

Jonah Hill hosted this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, which also featured cameos by his Wolf of Wall Street costar Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael Cera, who had joined him in cult comedy Superbad.
Jonah Hill Monologue
Hill’s opening monologue addressed the rumors that Hill – who made a name for himself in outrageous comedies – has become obnoxiously big-headed in light of his recent critical successes. After he implies that he’s a more compelling actor that DiCaprio, DiCaprio himself walked out onto the stage to great applause from the audience.
"Jonah, I knew this was going to happen if you got nominated. But you don't have to pretend anymore. You're a real actor now. You should be humble, you should be gracious," DiCaprio lectured. Hill conceded, with his head down, “I was like, acting like a big shot.”

In the first skit after the opening monologue, Hill reprised the 6-year-old Adam Grossman character.

No disrespect to Jonah Hill, but on some level, his upcoming SNL hat trick raises just one question: Hill is about to host Saturday Night Live for the third time. Yet his Wolf of Wall Street co-star Leonardo DiCaprio hasn’t hosted even once? Even worse, Leo’s never stopped by Studio 8H for so much as a cameo? This is so outrageous I’m starting to feel short of breath. Quick, somebody grab me a quaalude!
Ahhh, there we go. Now, what was I saying? Oh yes — Jonah Hill’s back on SNL this weekend, which means a few things.

The 39th season of Saturday Night Live has seen its ups and downs since premiering on September 28th, with Kerry Washington stunning America with her lively shennanigans and Josh Hutcherson boring audiences with his genial, smirk-free presence. But 2014 looks promising and fans have high hopes with two big January hosts already booked: Drake this weekend and Jonah Hill on the 25th. "I'm actually really excited for Drake," says Bobby Moynihan, a SNL cast member since 2008. "I think he'll be like Bruno Mars – one of those guys who you're really excited for.

Jonah Hill is not an easy interview. It's not that he's unengaged or standoffish as much as ... defensive. I'll give you an example: I once interviewed Hill about his movie "Cyrus" and casually compared the title character to Adam Grossman, that six-year-old boy he sometimes plays on 'Saturday Night Live.' Hill responded, "I don't see it, but more power to you. One is an annoying 'SNL' character and one's a character I worked really hard on in the movie."
So I was ready, going into my interview with Hill and his "21 Jump Street" co-star Channing Tatum, for things to get awkward. But despite the fact that Hill and Channing were both dressed in police uniforms, and even though Hill responded to one of my questions by calling me a "nerd," I'd say things went pretty smoothly. Well, except when Hill misunderstood a question about his Oscar nomination,...

Last week's Lohan-hosted episode scored bigger ratings but fewer laughs.

The sketches were mostly funnier, Tom Hanks swung by to show off one of his two Oscar trophies and Stefon was in the house to giggle his way through another classic list of nightlife tips (seriously, google "hoombas").
Plus there was a sure-to-be-classic-but-so-wrong sketch about a scientist touting his breakthrough teaching an ape to talk that did not go the way anyone intended. In short, Jonah Hill had a pretty good night hosting "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend, but according to the Hollywood Reporter, he couldn't quite reach the ratings heights set last weekend by Lindsay Lohan.
The magazine reported that the Hill episode, which featured two songs by the Shins, drew a 4.3 rating and a 2.6 rating in the 18-49 demo, which was down 21 percent from Lohan's turn last week.

In some respects, Jonah Hill is the perfect SNL host: Through Judd Apatow, he's worked with some of the best comedic minds of our time. Because of his role in Funny People, he's had experience performing comedy live on stage. And because he's hosted before, he presumably wouldn't be too nervous, and one imagines he'd be up for just about anything. So given all his strengths, why was his second SNL appearance so blah? Here are the episode's highs and lows.Best Self-Parody: I had predicted that the monologue would acknowledge Hill's recent Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for Moneyball. This take on it isn't what I would have guessed, however, and it's pretty great. Best Recurring Character: In his first SNL appearance, Hill originated the character of Adam Grossman, a six-year-old boy with the soul of a sixty-year-old Catskills comedian. Last night, Adam returned to Benihana. Best Meta-Acknowledgement Of...

Last night's Jonah Hill hosted "Saturday Night Live" was "off." Not "Lindsay Lohan" off, but it was still "off." Put it this way: Sketches get cut. Often, this happens before dress rehearsal and the live show. Because of time, it also can happen at the end of the show. Though, I've never seen a sketch teased mid-commercial, then be cut by the time the commercial break ends. For whatever reason, that happened last night with what appeared to be a Sportscenter sketch right before The Shins' second musical performance.
Regardless, "SNL" is off for the next three weeks -- the longest break of the season -- and there did seem to be a vibe in the air that the cast couldn't wait for their vacation to begin. There was not even one must-see sketch.

Jonah Hill's second "Saturday Night Live" hosting gig went pretty smoothly -- although Hill broke character a few times, the actor scored plenty of laughs his second time out.
The highlight of the night was definitely Hill's opening monologue, which was actually a mini-documentary about the actor's week prepping for "SNL." Of course, since he's now Oscar-nominated actor Jonah Hill, his attitude toward understanding his characters -- and also toward wearing douchey glasses and scarves -- is much different than the first time around.
It's nice to know Hill has a sense of humor about himself, and he seems just as shocked as everyone else that he can now claim an honor that respected greats like Alan Rickman can't. Hill brought Tom Hanks along for a cute monologue bit about his multiple Oscars, though it would've been a little more fun if "Moneyball" costar Brad Pitt came instead. Especially...
