Batman: The Audio Adventures podcast is back with Season 2 and voice star Bobby Moynihan and writer, director, and producer Dennis McNicholas dropped by the TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine studio at New York Comic Con to discuss all things Gotham. The Webby Award-winning original scripted podcast is set in a period of time when Batman (voiced by Jeffrey Wright) decides to put his years of crime fighting behind him and plans to become an official member of the Gotham City Police Department. Among the foes at play in the series is Moynihan’s version of the Penguin. (Credit: HBO Max) Sitting down with Andrea Towers, Moynihan admits to the pressure of taking on such an iconic role. “It definitely is. I feel like — and I mean this, I may have said this before or in other interviews — if somebody asked me what I was most proud of in anything I’ve ever done,...

HBO Max is the latest television company to ramp up its push into podcasts.
The WarnerMedia streamer has made a number of moves in the audio space and is bringing together a number of projects under the HBO Max banner and platform.
The company is launching Batman: The Audio Adventures, a scripted original starring Jeffrey Wright as Batman, Rosario Dawson as Catwoman and John Leguizamo as the Riddler.
This is separate from DC Comics’ own Batman podcast that it is making with Spotify. It comes as rivals such as Netflix also step up their plans in the audio space.
HBO Max is also launching its first look-back audio series, centered around Band of Brothers, prepping a new Insecure spin-off podcast and expanding its deal with podcast firm Audacy.
This comes as the HBO Max Podcast Program has grown from four podcasts to over 25 including companion series based on shows such as Chernobyl and Lovecraft Country.

The Amber Ruffin Show and A Black Lady Sketch Show have both secured Emmy writing noms for the first time – noticeably helping to improve the diversity of the category.
The Peacock series and the HBO show will compete in Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series against HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and NBC’s SNL.
A somewhat curious note of this category is that Ashley Nicole Black will compete against herself, having been involved in writing on both The Amber Ruffin Show and A Black Lady Sketch Show.
It marks The Amber Ruffin Show’s first Emmy nomination since the weekly show launched last year. However, it is not Ruffin herself’s first nom, having been nominated in this category for her work, alongside her head writer Jenny Hagel, on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Netflix is developing an untitled female-led comedy with producer Jon Berg, the former Warner Bros.’ co-president of production.
The writing team of Jordan Roter and Monica Corcoran Harel has been attached to write the project. Netflix is keeping the logline under wraps.
The project will be produced with Roy Lee at Vertigo. Berg joined Vertigo in 2017 after overseeing Warner Bros.’ DC films. Berg produced “Elf” and his DC credits include “Doctor Sleep,” “Justice League,” “Wonder Woman” and “Aquaman.”
Berg unveiled the Netflix project as he launched his own shingle, Good Luck Kid Productions, a film, television and podcast production company. Its first podcast will be a 10-episode Batman radio play written and directed by Dennis McNicholas for Warner Animation and HBO Max.
Lee and Berg set up Chris Thomas Devlin’s horror-thriller “Cobweb” at Lionsgate, in which a boy discovers that voices he hears in the walls of his house are real.

The Writers Guild Awards and the Academy writing nominees always don’t line up; many films are ineligible. This year, those included Oscar-writing nominees “Lion” and “The Lobster.”
This year, the WGA and the Academy differed dramatically. While the WGA deemed “Moonlight” and “Loving” as Original Screenplays, the Academy considered both as Adapted; only “Moonlight” landed a nomination.
At the WGA, as at the BAFTAs, Barry Jenkins’ script for “Moonlight” competed for the Original Screenplay Award against both Kenneth Lonergan’s “Manchester by the Sea” and Damien Chazelle’s “La La Land.” Unlike the BAFTAs, Jenkins emerged the winner over Lonergan, a sign of strength for “Moonlight,” which is nominated for eight Oscars.

The Writers Guild of America has just announced the nominations for their annual awards for Best Screenplays (by writers who are guild signatories). That’s right, before you get nervous thinking that your favorite may have been left off the list, you must remember that the WGA is the group that is not all-inclusive and leaves out several of the top contenders each year due to them not being part of the guild or not following their very specific rules. For this reason, you won’t see Inside Out, The Hateful Eight, and Ex Machina in the Original Screenplay category or Room, Brooklyn, or Anomalisa in the Adapted screenplay category.
Taking a look at what’s left over for the nominations, we find many that were expected to make a showing, including Spotlight and Bridge of Spies for Original Screenplay, though they apparently had to sink to really low depths...

Bron Studios has an animated short film premiering at Siggraph 2014 (an annual conference on computer graphics and techniques) called Henchmen: Ill Suited, which has apparently already captured the attention of Gary Sanchez Productions heads Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, and Chris Henchy. According to Deadline, the trio have signed on to produce a feature film adaptation of the short, titled Henchmen.
Targeted for release in 2016, the film will be directed by Adam Wood, the director of the short film. Meanwhile, Saturday Night Live writer Dennis McNicholas has been brought on to write the script.
Henchmen: Ill Suited tells the tale of a dreamy janitor working in the “bad guy museum” of Supervillain City, and ends up in an out-of-control super-suit that causes havoc and mayhem. The feature-length version will tell a similar story, but focus on a “fallen henchmen” named Hank, who oversees a “motley crew of blue-collar workers” in the Union of Evil.

Funnymen Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are often looking for the next big thing, a new way to entertain audiences with their unique brand of comedy. Sometimes they throw their collective weight behind talented comedians like Kristen Wiig. Other times they test the waters for cult television properties like Manimal to see if they can be adapted into winning contemporary films. And now it sounds like they are bringing their Gary Sanchez production brand to animation, partnering with Bron Studios for an in-development project. Gary Sanchez Prods’ Adam McKay, Will Ferrell and Chris Henchy will become creative collaborators and exec producers on Henchmen, a feature-length adaptation of the Siggraph 2014 short Henchmen: Ill Suited, from Bron Studios. The production is targeting a 2016 debut.
The story line starts with a variant of the Sorceror’s Apprentice story line. In this case, a dreamy janitor working in the bad guy museum of Supervillain City ends up inside a somewhat out-of-control super-powered space suit, and causes all kinds of mayhem. The synopsis for the feature-length adaptation suggests there will still be a hapless young twerp in a super suit, but will also focus on a “fallen henchman” named Hank overseeing a “motley crew of blue-collar workers in the Union of Evil.” The “risk-nothing” sentiments of Hank are challenged when he must become a hero and rescue the kid in the suit and the missing woman he loves.

Here’s an alternative award giving ceremony that those in Hollywood don’t like! The Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies) always announce their awards right near the Oscar noms in a bid to steal some thunder and to remind us all that some movies suck! For the likes of Sly Stallone, it’s the gift that keeps on giving. He’s received most nominations in practically every category going! Some like Halle Berry (Worst Actress for Catwoman) and Paul Verhoeven (winner for Showgirls) have turned up at the ceremony and graciously accepted their awards. See? We're less than 10 hours away from the 2010 Oscar Nominations (as of this posting), and as per usual, the Razzie Awards -- which celebrate the worst in cinema -- are announced the day before. And as usual, the Razzies nominate the most obvious movies -- the spectacularly bad popular movies, actors, and actresses (not that there's anything wrong with that). From a cursory glance at the nominees, it appears as though the same five movies dominate every category and Sandra Bullock may be the most nominated this year (ironic, since she'll also likely be nominated for an Oscar) for her role in All About Steve. Transformers 2, G.I. Joe, Old Dogs, New Moon and Land of the Lost are the other big titles on the list. There's really no excuse for leaving out Paul Blart or Year One, though.

The 2010 Razzie nominations were announced today. “Land of the Lost” and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” led the pack with 7 nominations each, Sandra Bullock and Megan Fox will be battling it out for the Worst Actress Award.
Sandra Bullock expected to score an Academy Award nomination Tuesday for her hit drama “The Blind Side,” and
“She could be the first person ever to win a Razzie and an Oscar in the same weekend,”
said John Wilson, founder of the Golden Raspberry Awards, now in their 30th year of singling out Hollywood’s low points.
Other actors and actresses graced with nominations include Will Ferrell, Robert Pattinson, Eddie Murphy, John Travolta, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, and Julie White who played Shia Labeouf’s mother in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

A day before 2010 Oscar nominees are unveiled on February 2, The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation have announced their picks for the worst in film. Though "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" were considerably successful on box office, both movies have to take the fact they are nominated for Worst Picture category at the 30th Annual Razzie Awards. They additionally will compete in Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel category.
Meanwhile, Sandra Bullock, whose acting in "The Blind Side" has earned her Best Drama Actress nod at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards, lands Worst Actress nod for her appearance in "All About Steve". In this category, she will be up against Megan Fox ("Jennifer's Body" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"), Miley Cyrus ("Hannah Montana: The Movie"), Beyonce Knowles ("Obsessed") and Sarah Jessica Parker ("Did You Hear About the Morgans?").

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Land of the Lost each grabbed seven nominations for the 2010 Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies), an annual event recognizing the worst movies had to offer.
The Michael Bay sequel made $835 million worldwide and placed second at the U.S. box office in 2009 while the Will Ferrell “comedy” tanked in its summer release, earning only half its budget back in the States. Both are in the running for “Worst Picture” along with critically panned All About Steve, the campy G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, and the John Travolta/Robin Williams groaner Old Dogs.
Sandra Bullock was nominated for “Worst Actress of 2009″ for All About Steve literally the day before the Academy Awards announcements where she’s the front-runner for “Best Actress” in The Blind Side. No actor has ever been awarded both awards in the same year.

Forget about the Oscars for now, let's talk about the Razzies. One day before the prestigious Academy Awards nominations, the Golden Raspberry Awards noms have been announced and it ain't good for both "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "Land of the Lost." Both movies earned 7 nominations each.
"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" received nominations for worst film, worst director for Michael Bay, worst screen couple (expanded to include both Shai LeBouf and Megan Fox or LeBouf and any Transformer), worst supporting actress, worst screenplay and worst remake/rip-off.
"Land of the Lost" also received seven nominations for Will Farrell as worst actor and worst screen couple, worst picture, director for Brad Silberling, remake/rip-off, screenplay and supporting actor for Jorma Taccone as Cha-Ka.
The Razzies also gave love to the worst of the decade which included Razzie-baits such as "Battlefield Earth" (2001), Tom Green's "Freddy Got Fingered" (2001), "Gigli" (2003), Lindsay Lohan...

Oscar's ugly little stepbrother Razzie announced his nominations this week for the worst movies and performances of 2009, and let's just say there's no shortage of stuff to choose from. The Golden Raspberry Awards are, of course, the annual awards that mock and ridicule all of the terrible blockbusters that we are forced to sit through in a year, and among the biggest offenders this year we have Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Land of the Lost, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, and Twilight Saga: New Moon. Transformers and Land of the Lost lead the pack with seven nominations each. In an interesting twist, it seems that Sandra Bullock is nominated for Worst Actress for her performance in All About Steve, which means she might actually have a shot at winning both Best Actress at the Oscars and Worst Actress at the Razzies in the same year. Now that's an achievement!

Land of The Lost has been produced by Jummy Miller, Sid Krofft and Marty Krofft and directed by Brad Silberling. Based on a television series created by Sid and Marty Kroft, the script has been written by Chris Henchy and Dennis McNicholas. Dion Beebe is the director of photography and the movie has been edited by Peter Teschner. Music has been done by Michael Giacchino. Production designer of the movie is Bo Welch. The main cast includes Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, Anna Friel and Jorma Taccone in the roles of Dr. Rick Marshall, William Stanton, Holly Cantrell and Chaka respectively.
Will Ferrell always performs his best comedy when given something actually funny to do and it will be hard for you not to laugh. He pulls off his shirt to display his baggy pack; it has now become more of a ritual unveiling all his contracts. It has, however, become a cheap comedy,...

From its non-sequitur of an opening to the blissful moment the screen goes black, Land of the Lost is a disaster of a film that only Irwin Allen could appreciate. Loosely based on Sid and Marty Krofft’s trippy 1970s Saturday morning kids series, this comedy features genuine talent — Will Ferrell, Anna Friel and Danny McBride — who are just as trapped as their characters. But instead of being imprisoned in an alternate dimension with no way out, the actors are stuck in a film with unfunny dialogue and a nonsensical script.
Will Ferrell stars as Dr. Rick Marshall, a quantum paleontologist who has been laughed out of the scientific community for his theories on time warps and alternate dimensions. But with the encouragement of young — and attractive — scientist Holly Cantrell (Pushing Daisies' Anna Friel) Marshall finally completes his lifelong dream: he builds a tachyon amplifier to journey to alternate dimensions.

Land of the Lost Directed by: Brad Silberling Written by: Chris Henchy, Dennis McNicholas Starring: Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, Anna Friel, Jorma Taccone, Ben Best The transition from R to PG-13 is not always an easy one for comedians, particularly ones who base their humour on crass jokes and shock value, but it's a transition that is necessary in order to become a true A-list Hollywood star. When formerly edgy funnymen turn to family-friendly fare (that's a lot of f-words), they typically risk alienating their original audience and watering down their act. However, if they can pull off these films without losing their identity and credibility (ahem... Eddie Murphy), they just may have a long and profitable career ahead of them. Will Ferrell, for his part, has always done a decent job of balancing his career between movies for general audiences (Elf) and the college crowd (Old School, Anchorman). However,...

The players: Director: Brad Silberling, Writers: Chris Henchy, Dennis McNicholas, Cast: Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny R. McBride, Jorma Taccone
Facts of interest: Based on the TV series from the '70s.
The plot: Will Ferrell stars as a scientist who travels to a parallel dimension inhabited by hostile creatures.
Our thoughts: To be honest, I wish I’d never entered the “Land of the Lost.” It’s a boring place full of bad jokes and lame characters, and it pretty much lacks all the necessary ingredients for an exciting, adventurous comedy. In other words, this movie is a mess of epic proportions, and one that should never have found its way into theaters.

Rating: 1.0/5.0 Chicago – “Land of the Lost,” starring Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, and Anna Friel, is horribly conceived, almost entirely laugh-free, and with absolutely no personality of its own. It’s one of the most inert, dull, and dead-on-arrival major summer films in a very long time with no target audience likely to be satisfied by it.
What exactly is the target audience of “Land of the Lost”? I’ll admit that I assumed it would be a PG-rated family comedy going in. Little kids love dinosaur poop jokes, right? Much to be great surprise, “Land of the Lost” is not for kids. Sure, it sounds like it was written by a 12-year-old, but parents may blush at jokes about characters getting “wet” or sitting on a vibrating crystal. Even pre-teens will roll their eyes when Chaka gropes Holly for the fifteenth time.

“Marshall, Will, and Holly on a routine expedition
Met the greatest earthquake ever known.
High on the rapids it struck their tiny raft,
And plunged them down a thousand feet below.
To the Land of the Lost.”
This was the opening theme song that started the greatest adventure anyone ever saw on TV in 1974. “Land of the Lost” was a TV series that aired for three years on NBC and was produced by Sid & Marty Krofft Television Productions. This show was a monument for the 70’s as the affects used then, compared to today’s CGI affects, were ahead of its time. This show featured live action actors, stop motion/animation dinosaurs, strange sets, futuristic Alien-Lizard creatures, and cave men that hadn’t evolved. The actors were placed in front of a green screen and had to act as if they were really in danger and not in a sound stage.

This is on the up and up: "Up" could post the summer's first repeat No. 1 performance at the weekend boxoffice.
A pair of films bowing wide Friday look likely to score solid business, with Universal's Will Ferrell comedy "Land of the Lost" and Warner Bros.' R-rated comedy "The Hangover" targeting distinct audiences and offering upbeat appeal of the sort moviegoers have been supporting all year. But Disney/Pixar's 3-d-animated feature, which ruled the boxoffice last weekend with a $68 million debut, could top both new pics as it looks likely to fetch $35 million or more in its sophomore session.
Rated "PG-13," "Lost" is a family-targeted adventure comedy perhaps best described as "Jurassic Park" meets "Saturday Night Live." Marketing tie-ins with Subway and others should help broaden awareness among prospective moviegoers, but "Lost" is still likely to play much like other Farrell movies.

After wandering in the entertainment industry wilderness for years, Sid and Marty Krofft are set to emerge with a higher profile than they’ve ever had, as Will Ferrell introduces the world to his big budget adaptation of the Krofft’s trippy 70s TV thrillride, “Land of the Lost.” There’s no time for the septuagenarian brothers to rest however, because they’re now ramping up another adaptation of one of their vintage Saturday morning kids show: “H.R. Pufnstuf.”
Running for just seventeen episodes on NBC from 1969 to 1972, “Pufnstuf” told the acid-washed tale of a boy named Jimmy who rides a magical boat to Living Island, only to get stranded there by bushy-browed evildoer Wilhelmina W. Like stepping into a snazzy but clunky time machine ride, .Land of the Lost. leaves its 70s TV-show roots behind and travels full-speed ahead to the future to transform into a multi-million dollar big-screen production.
Marshall, Will, and Holly return tagging along their ape-boy pal Chaka. The dinosaurs also make a comeback, so do the slow but creepy reptilians called Sleestak. The big question remains . do we really need a .Land of the Lost. reboot? Apparently, show creators Sid and Marty Krofft think so. Did someone hear about that Imaginary Larry pic and think: "Gee, why make something like Drop Dead Fred when we can just remake Drop Dead Fred?"I think so. The Hollywood Reporter posts that the box office bust and subsequent cult favorite is getting a makeover, and Russell Brand is going to head the whole thing.
Yes, he'll play the wacky imaginary character, but things will be a bit different this time around. Of course, there will be no Phoebe Cates (which is a huge strike against it in my book ... viva la Cates!), and instead of a straight remake, this will be whipped up in the "tone of Beetlejuice, building a universe around the concept of imaginary friends." There's a lesson to live by: If you want to remake something that failed, Beetlejuice it! Dennis McNicholas, who lent a pen to the Land of the Lost remake, will pen the screenplay.
