This season of Doctor Who just isn’t working for me.
This is imho, of course, and Ymmv, but after a great opening episode (The Pilot) I’ve been very disappointed. The stories haven’t excited me, and, more important, the relationship between Pearl Mackie’s Bill Potts and Peter Capaldi’s Doctor doesn’t seem to have moved all that much forward; there isn’t any there there, as Trumpists like to say these days. (Of course I had to get a Trump reference in here. You know me.) It started off great, with hints of something even more brewing.
Why does the Doctor take an interest in the non-matriculated kitchen worker who was attending his lectures? Why did he go out of his way to use the Tardis to go back in the past to take pictures of Bill’s dead mom – of whom she had no memory...

“3D filmed experiences for theme parks” and “hi-tech visitor attractions” are being developed by the BBC...
The Guardian reports that the BBC is competing in “a multibillion-pound race to build hi-tech visitor attractions around the globe” including “3D filmed experiences for new theme parks” which are already being developed.
Purportedly, a “new BBC entertainment venture in Asia is to be unveiled later this month” and the Beeb is also developing attractions for a proposed theme park in Britain by the name of Paramount London (which is being touted for a Thames-adjacent plot near Ebbsfleet, Kent).
Stephen Davies of BBC Worldwide said this:
“We’re always interested in working with partners who can help us extend fans’ enjoyment of the BBC brands they love. Abroad, we’re looking for fixed-attraction opportunities in Asia and we operate and license a number of UK attractions, including CBeebies Land and the Doctor Who Experience,...

Matt Smith's part in Terminator Genisys has long been a secret. So how does his role affect this summer's sequel...?
Nb: This article contains major spoilers for Terminator Genisys.
“Obviously, I can't talk in too much detail about the specifics of my character,” Matt Smith told us during our visit to the set of Terminator Genisys last year. “But needless to say I have close interest and links to John Connor. So yeah. What else do you want to know? I love football!”
Such was the secrecy around the project in 2014, at least until Terminator Genisys’ marketing department cut together some of the most revealing trailers of recent years (something that wasn’t, director Alan Taylor has admitted, part of his original plan). But even as John Connor's dramatic change of allegiance was unveiled early in Genisys' promotion, the precise nature of Matt Smith’s character in the grand...

The ten year anniversary of the revived Doctor Who series has brought us five Doctors, new and old companions and enemies and fantastic overarching storylines. It’S become increasingly popular in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australasia, breathing new life into a show that has lasted for 51 years and still going strong. Of course, fans of the new series and purists who stick to the old may constantly butt heads, the latter pointing to its legacy and humble beginnings in 1963 and the wealth of spin-off media during the hiatus, while NuWho fans claim superiority through better cinematography, young handsome actors, and the accessibility of media in the age of technology.
While both series have their differences – the role of female actors, the episodic format, and the age of the Doctors spring to mind – the show has always endeavoured to remain the same throughout the years, telling the tale of...

Is a Sherlock theme park attraction afoot? BBC Worldwide has entered a deal with London Resort Company Holdings to feature the broadcaster’s properties at a new park to be built in north Kent. The park, the London Paramount Entertainment Resort, promises to “combine the glamour of Hollywood with the best of British culture,” The Guardian reported. Since the park will look to attract tourists in the UK, it’s thought the most international of the BBC programs will feature as rides and attractions including Sherlock, Doctor Who and Top Gear. However, the park isn’t expected to open until Easter 2020. “We’re always looking for opportunities to extend fans’ enjoyment of their favorite shows, and the idea behind this resort is a really exciting way of celebrating the very special place the BBC has in British culture,” said Stephen Davies, Director of Live Events at BBC Worldwide. Doctor Who‘s latest season premier was talk of the web due to a lesbian and lizard kiss. UK loved it and the Us didn’t care to censor the shocking scene due to a strong Lgbt community. Now it seems though that the company cannot get away from having it not be censored. Asia is reported to be saying no to the scene and cut it out of the season premier episode. BBC is also taking note and consideration on what they may want to cut out of future episodes, as they released the following statement at the heels of the edits.
“In light of recent news events, we have made an edit to Episode 3 out of respect.
It is reported that they have taken a fight scene out that may offend some due to recent events in the middle east. As for what the edits of season 8’s premier and what that means,...

The Doctor Who debut of Peter Capaldi has aired in Asia without a scene featuring a kiss between two female characters. The scene was edited out of the version of the sci-fi hit show broadcast on the BBC Entertainment network in such territories as Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore due to regulations in Singapore, Radio Times magazine reported. The broadcast code in Singapore, where the BBC Entertainment feed for Asia is transmitted from, has strict rules on "information, themes or subplots on lifestyles such as homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexualism, transsexualism, transvestism, pedophilia and incest," according to

Doctor Who aired an edited version of the episode 'Deep Breath' in Asian territories, cutting a 'kiss' between two female characters.
In Peter Capaldi's debut episode, Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh) and wife Jenny (Catrin Stewart) were forced to hold their breath to avoid being detected by killer robots.
With Jenny unable to hold her breath any longer, Vastra gave her a 'kiss of life' - sharing oxygen from her own lungs.
However, the scene was excised from a version of the episode broadcast on the BBC Entertainment channel in several Asian countries.
A BBC spokesperson told Pink News: "In order to comply with broadcast regulations in Asia where our BBC Entertainment channel airs, BBC Worldwide made a brief edit to the first episode of Doctor Who Series 8, but did so without detracting from the storyline."

When "This Is Spinal Tap" opened on March 2, 1984, it made a modest $4.7 million, but the cast and crew behind this "rockumentary" likely had no idea what an oft-quoted, cultural touchstone it would become. ("This one goes to 11.")
At the time, maybe the send-up of big-hair heavy metal bands was too close to reality, and many moviegoers thought Spinal Tap was a real band. Actually, the film did have a soundtrack (with such classics as "Sex Farm Woman") since the comic geniuses of Spinal Tap wrote and performed their own songs. They even took the group on the road in 2009 for the film's 25th anniversary and even opened up for themselves as their other musical persona, The Folksmen from Spinal Tap's folk sequel of sorts, "A Mighty Wind."

I'm completely underwhelmed by ABC's pilots this year, but a report from the presentation mentioned a joke by Jimmy Kimmel. "'If you pay Britney Spears $15 million, how much do you have to pay someone who can sing?' Kimmel said, which was met with a pitying groan. 'Oh, I didn't realize this was a gay audience!'" Honestly, knowing what I know of the reporters attending, how could he not know it was a gay audience?
