It’s official: Walker will not be renewed for a fifth season by the CW.
“We want to thank the entire cast, crew, writers, directors and producers of Walker for their hard work and dedication over four incredible seasons,” the network said in a statement. “We also want to give a special thanks to star and executive producer Jared Padalecki, who has been a member of The CW family for over 20 years and was integral to some of the biggest hits on the network.”
As Deadline reported yesterday, sets for Walker were being dismantled with its renewal prospects dim. Star and executive producer Padalecki, who starred on the WB/CW long-running hit Supernatural for 15 seasons before segueing to Walker, shared the news of the official cancellation with fans.

“Walker” has been canceled at The CW after four seasons, Variety has learned.
“We want to thank the entire cast, crew, writers, directors and producers of ‘Walker’ for their hard work and dedication over four incredible seasons,” The CW said in a statement. “We also want to give a special thanks to star and executive producer Jared Padalecki, who has been a member of The CW family for over 20 years and was integral to some of the biggest hits on the network.”
The move to cancel the show is not surprising, as it was one of the few remaining original series that predated Nexstar taking over The CW. The network’s new owners have largely done away with original scripted series, opting instead to focus on low-cost foreign imports and co-productions as well as sports and unscripted series.

The CW Network has renewed “Walker” for a 13-episode fourth season that will air in the 2023-2024 broadcast season.
The series, which is a reimagining of the long-running show “Walker, Texas Ranger,” stars Jared Padalecki (“Supernatural”) as Cordell Walker, a widower and father of two with his own moral code, who returns home to Austin, Texas, after being undercover for two years. Additionally, the cast includes Keegan Allen, Violet Brinson, Molly Hagan, Kale Culley, Coby Bell, Jeff Pierre, Mitch Pileggi and Odette Annable.
“I’m so excited and grateful to continue the Walker legacy for another season alongside our partners at CBS Studios and The CW,” Padalecki said in a statement. “We can’t wait to make Season 4 bigger and better than ever and to lasso even more fans into the ‘Walker’ family. Let’s ride!”

The CW has given a 13-episode Season 4 order to Walker, starring Jared Padalecki, to air in 2023-24 broadcast season.
This is the first renewal decision made by the CW under its new regime; as Deadline has reported, flagship All American‘s renewal, announced in January, was part of Nexstar’s deal to acquire the CW.
Walker had been considered the frontrunner among the CW’s scripted series to snag a renewal. It is a strong ratings performer, ranking as the network’s most-watched linear show this season in Total Viewers.
The series also is produced very efficiently by CBS Studios, something that is key to the new CW, which has stressed that they would be shifting toward lower-cost scripted programming in order to make the network profitable.

The CW’s Walker season two ended on a cliffhanger that found Cordell kidnapped and tied up in the back of a van. Season three episode one, “World on a String,” begins right after the events of season two’s finale, with everyone hustling to get Cord back safe and sound.
Season three episode one airs on October 6, 2022, and in a recent interview with TVLine, series star and executive producer Jared Padalecki confirmed we’ll find out what’s going on fairly quickly. “Certainly in the season three premiere, we’ll get a glimpse of just how much trouble Cord is in, if there’s any way for him to get out or if he’s gonna need help…and how help would even get to him or find him.”

Exclusive: Ashley Reyes has been tapped as a lead opposite Jared Padalecki in the CW’s Walker. Reyes, who has joined the cast as a series regular, will first appear in the next episode, “Nudge”, slated to premiere March 3.
Reyes succeeds Lindsay Morgan who exited Walker earlier this season for personal reasons after playing Walker’s (Padalecki) partner Micki Ramirez since the pilot. Reyes will play a new character, Cassie, who is Walker’s new partner.
A spirited, uncensored, strong Texas Ranger based in Dallas who served as a Texas state trooper for 8 years before that, Cassie is unconventional and wily, quick on her feet. She knows that she’s one of the only women in her field and that the odds are always against her, but rather than color inside the lines, Cassie chooses to splash vivid colors all over the canvas.
