Given her one-of-a-kind awards resume and irrefutable status as an acting legend, it’s no wonder Meryl Streep is widely expected to be honored at this year’s Emmys for her work on Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building.” Taking the gold for her first regular comedy series role would be impressive enough, but the noteworthiness of her win would extend far beyond that. Having joined her show in its third season, she would be only the 10th non-original comedy series cast member to ever pull off a lead or supporting Emmy victory.
Not including sketch performers, Streep would be said winners club’s first new entrant in over three decades. The last was Kirstie Alley, who replaced Shelley Long as the female lead of “Cheers” at the start of season six and prevailed on her third Emmy bid in 1991. Paul Rudd is set to go toe to toe, voice to voice, with Nick Jonas for John Carney’s latest musical.
Carney’s “Power Ballad” stars Rudd and Jonas as two very different types of musicians: One is a wedding singer while the other is a rock star, and while the casting details over which actor is playing which character haven’t been confirmed, Jonas’ real-life rock star status must be influencing his performance.
Carney recently helmed “Flora and Son” and is set to direct the upcoming musical comedy that he cowrote with Peter McDonald. Principal photography began in Dublin at the end of April, with the feature billed as “an uplifting music-driven story about a wedding singer, a rock star, and the song that comes between them.”
30West will finance the film, alongside Screen Ireland, and executive produce. Anthony Bregman and Peter Cron will produce for Likely Story with...

Songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are one step away from achieving Egot status, needing only an Emmy to complete the prestigious quartet of entertainment honors. The duo has submitted “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?” from Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” for outstanding music and lyrics at this year’s Emmys. If they are nominated and win at the September ceremony, Pasek and Paul will become the 20th and 21st Egot recipients, joining the ranks of legends Richard Rodgers, Marvin Hamlisch and Elton John.
The song, co-written with celebrated composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, is performed by Steve Martin in the show’s eighth episode, “Sitzprobe,” helmed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. It will be the only original song the series submits this year, chosen over others such as “Look for the Light,” performed by Meryl Streep and Ashley Park, and two versions...

“It’s star-studded,” Martin said to People of the new season, which has been filming in New York City. “And I’m going to say we’re about halfway through, and we are really enjoying this season.”
“We think it could be one of our best seasons,” he adds. “Although they’re all flawless.”

Hulu has big things coming down the pipe for Only Murders in the Building. Steve Martin said this week that the group is about halfway done filming, and that the cast of the upcoming season 4 will be “star-studded.”
Only Murders has made headlines in previous seasons for its glitzy guest stars, which have included Meryl Streep, Paul Rudd, Jesse Williams, Jane Lynch, Amy Schumer, Cara Delevingne and more. Season four is set to include new characters from Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Zach Galifianakis, Kumail Nanjiani and Molly Shannon.
It’s unclear if Martin’s comments were referring to even more not-yet-named stars who will join the cast, but he told People this week that he and his co-stars believe season four “could be one of our best seasons” (though he added that “they’re all flawless”).

The Idea of You should never work as well as it should, but the rom-com does. A whimsical tale full of heart, Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine is an addictive, often hilarious, and meaningful addition to the genre that has made a comeback of late. This is an old-fashioned effort that swoons the audience’s expectations to its heart’s contents.
That’s mostly because it rides the back of its leads, whose chemistry should come with a warning because they burn up the screen. Despite the 12-year age gap between them (and it helps Hathaway has the same ageless disease Paul Rudd finds himself afflicted with), you never question the differences because the script is upfront and honest by never letting us forget them.
The Idea of You gets ahead of the elephant in the room early, and often, that slowly fades away.

Robert Downey Jr. called it “mind-blowing” to see Jeremy Renner up on his feet and celebrating at Chris Evans’ wedding last September. 1. The Wedding Singer (1998)
One of Adam Sandler’s best movies to date, The Wedding Singer centers on Robbie Hart, the performer who sings the hits of the 80’s at weddings, and a waitress named Julia Sullivan, played by Drew Barrymore.
The actors have been together in many movies since they first played the couple in this one.

Netflix may have a huge list of everyday exciting releases, but the nostalgia for the 2000s still lives on — and the streaming’s recent top chart results are another proof of it.
This time it’s Seth Rogan’s iconic romantic comedy that, unlike many more movies alike, was actually a stunning success in every respect — and after almost 20 years since its release the film is one of Netflix’s most watched movies.
Knocked Up, a 2007 romcom starring Seth Rogan and Katherine Heigl cemented Judd Apatow’s status of a romantic comedy master after he already blew everyone away thanks to an earlier collaboration with Rogan, 2005’s The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
Knocked Up’s plot follows Ben, a binge-loving loafer with no desire for commitment, who ends up having a one-night stand with determined career builder Allison — eventually the latter finds out that she’s pregnant. Having come to a common decision to keep the child,...

Before his career went down the rabbit hole of utter destruction and Jonathan Majors was redacted from the industry’s hotlist of prime actors, Marvel felt blessed to score an actor who could pull off one of the biggest and most mysterious roles assigned in its long and illustrious history.
Despite the novelty of playing the next Big Bad of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jonathan Majors had been very methodical and studious in his role as Kang. With a fine debut in Loki, Majors created an aura of as much adoration and praise as was deserving of an actor of his caliber.

Based on what I can gather about her new film, At the Sea, Amy Adams needs a pair of sandals and a stiff drink. Adams is teaming up with Kornel Mundruczó and Kata Wéber – the director and writer of Pieces of a Woman and White God – for a new drama about rejuvenation and adjusting to a life you had not planned to live.
According to Deadline, At the Sea finds Adams’s Laura returning to her family at their holiday beach house after a long rehabilitation. Once there, Laura must readjust to her new lot in life, still haunted by aspects she tried to leave behind. Staring down the barrel of a new chapter of her life, Laura must cope without her fame, fortune, and, of all things, her identity.
Adams, a six-time Academy Award-nominated actress, recently wrapped production on the sci-fi drama Klara and the Sun, which Taika Waititi directs.

An era that began in 2008 with the release of the first Iron Man is coming to a close. Then we had character introductions, the 2012 Avengers, endless comic book arcs on Earth-616, ending with the confrontation with Thanos and the beginning of the Multiverse.
Some prefer to use the umbrella term 'The Infinity Saga' as applied to the period from 2008 to 2019, but we would like to discuss a broader time period that is essentially unfinished. After all, some characters and their portrayers who were introduced long before Endgame are still involved in the MCU.
Under such circumstances, one of the longest-lived sub-franchises is Ant Man, which is technically still going on, and Paul Rudd's character is likely to return more than once. But what about the original Ant Man, Dr. Hank Pym, played by the excellent Michael Douglas, who has been in the MCU since 2015?

Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5 was supposedly going to turn it all around for the superhero universe. After a failed attempt with Phase 4, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was a promising candidate when it came to reviving the MCU. Starring Paul Rudd, Jonathan Majors, and Kathryn Newton, the film unfortunately failed to live up to the fans’ expectations.

In a recent interview, Kathryn Newton revealed that filming for Ant-Man 3 was the easiest job of her life. Looking at the response her comments have received, it is clear that fans are still upset about the awful sequel, especially her performance, and are not going to let her live it down.

Happy Earth Day! Following Secrets of the Whales and Secrets of the Elephants, James Cameron’s latest natural history series, Secrets of the Octopus uncovers the lives of one of the most alienlike animals on the planet: the octopus. The three-parter, narrated by Paul Rudd, shows how these eight-armed creatures can shape-shift and reveals how intelligent and social they are through incredible footage, some showing behavior never before captured on film. National Geographic for Disney/Craig Parry One such behavior is a mating ritual, seen between “Scarlett,” a small day octopus at the Great Barrier Reef that’s featured across the episodes, and a male suitor. Dr. Schnell and other experts meet several amazing octopuses in places such as Canada’s Vancouver Island and Indonesia’s Lembeh Strait. But there’s a particularly touching relationship between Schnell and Scarlett — who seems to remember the ...

Few documentaries have been as genuinely shocking as director Andrew Jarecki’s 2015 true crime documentary series “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst.” Using existing media, reenactments and exclusive interview footage of Durst, who had agreed to be interviewed by Jarecki, the six-episode series investigated three unsolved murders in which Durst had been a suspect. It was a captivating spectacle that became a game-changing piece of art when, the day before the series finale aired on HBO, Durst was arrested for first-degree murder after being caught on a recording stating, “What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.”
Nearly a decade after winning the Emmy for Best Documentary or Nonfiction Series, Jarecki is back with “The Jinx — Part Two.” Premiering Sunday at 10/9c, the HBO series details the events of the next eight years, during which time Durst was tried and convicted of the murder...

2023 may yet be remembered as the year the superhero movie died. Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" was released in February 2023 and was the first notable comic book-based bomb of the year. The film was notoriously re-jiggered throughout its production, with massive and expensive SFX being finalized up to the last minute. The official budget ballooned to $200 million, although separate reports have pegged the price tag as being closer to that of Disney's notorious box office misfire "John Carter" (which cost $263 million to make). "Quantumania" still grossed $464 million, but that's considered low for a Marvel movie.
Throughout 2023, more bombs dropped as superhero movies either lost money or were considered disappointments. "Shazam! Fury of the Gods," "The Flash," "Blue Beetle," "The Marvels," and "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" all tanked, and while many went to see "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3," it felt like the last kick in a closing series.

Michael Douglas wanted to have a “serious” death scene in 2023’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and requested his character be killed off.
As the actor promoted his Apple TV+ series Franklin, Douglas opened up about the Marvel film in which he played Dr. Hank Pym. Ahead of the third film in the Ant-Man saga, the actor said he asked for his character to die.
“This actually was my request for the third one,” Douglas said on The View. “I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is. I want to use all those effects.”
He continued, “But, that was on the last one. Now, I don’t think I’m going to show up.”

Michael Douglas didn’t have much to do in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, at least not until the whole deus ex machina ant army thing towards the end. It feels like his part was majorly scaled back. Could Hank Pym have been meant to die in the 2023 sequel?
The Spartacus spawn spoke with Entertainment Weekly this week and expanded on Pym’s fate in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the character is alive and well within the main timeline and in the What If…? Universe, Douglas says he wanted the original Ant-Man to meet his end in Quantumania:

If Michael Douglas had his way, Hank Pym would have been killed off in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The actor was on The View promoting his Apple TV+ series, Franklin, where he was asked about wanting his character to die in Quantumania. “This actually was my request for the third one,” Douglas explained. “I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is.“
Douglas continued, “I want to use all those effects. But, that was on the last one. Now, I don’t think I’m going to show up.” That last comment makes it sound as though we’ve seen the last of Hank Pym. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania didn’t receive the best reviews, which, coupled with a lackluster box-office,...

Micheal Douglas went viral last year when he told THR on the “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” red carpet that he would only be interested in returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hank Pym in a fourth “Ant-Man” movie “as long as I can die.” It turns out that was actually Douglas’ wish for “Quantumania.”
Appearing on “The View” (via Entertainment Weekly) to promote his new Apple TV+ historical drama series “Franklin,” Douglas revealed that he actually wanted to be killed off from the MCU in the third “Ant-Man” movie. He even asked for a huge special effects bonanza to help send Hank Pym into the great beyond.
“[Getting killed off] actually was my request for the third one,” Douglas said. “I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode,...

Raise your hand if you are a fan of the Friends series Warner Bros, and more of a follower of all the cast members like Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, David Schimmer, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Paul Rudd, and there are many more cameos.
If I talk about myself I follow all the cast members on all the social media platforms, and recently I was wondering who is the most liked Friends stars based on their rankings from lowest to highest.
