*full disclosure: a screener of this film was provided by Osiris Entertainment.
Director: John Sjogren.
Writer: Bonnie Orr.
Cast: Derek Lee Nixon, Kerry Wallum and Oscar Lusth.
Slasher films are a dime a dozen, and The Lights is just one of many “killer” titles coming from Osiris Entertainment. That is, if this company is typecasting itself with the kinds of movies it likes to distribute, then The Lights is a comical addition to the slasher-film genre. Most of it is unintentional; the humour cannot go unnoticed especially when Jack Carter is the crazed killer with some silly one-liners, lame kill-zone moments, and uninispired deadpan deliveries.
Some people may want to know why he has gone cuckoo. The explanation is given with the opening act. When he comes home only to have his wife say she’s leaving him because she is in love with someone else, he simply goes berserk.

Two movie makers say that they are still moving forward on plans to work with Lindsay Lohan after she serves her 90-day prison sentence, followed by a 90-day stint in rehab. Matthew Wilder, the writer and director of 'Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story,' told the Associated Press, "We are proud to have this remarkable artist work on our film." He will hold production until Lindsay is available to return to work. Wilder maintains that the film is "100 percent behind Lindsay." A similar outlook goes for 'The Dry Gulch Kid' producer Kerry Wallum. Wallum told the AP that the actress is in negotiations to star in the Willie Nelson movie. Should Lindsay choose to accept the role, "We're behind her. We'll wait until this all blows over," he said. In an attempt to resurrect her disheveled career, Lindsay traveled to France in May to promote the...

Lindsay Lohan's 90-day jail sentence caps a long history of legal issues reaching back at least to her 2007 DUI arrest and comes at a time when the 24-year-old actress is trying to piece her career back together. The jail time, which is to be followed by a 90-day in-house stay at a substance-abuse clinic, will prevent Lohan from publicizing an upcoming movie and delay production on another one. What's more, Lohan will be unable to continue promoting her new fashion line, 6126, which is expected to begin shipping to stores this month.
So just how much will Lohan's professional life suffer now that her ability to jumpstart new projects and promote existing ones has been compromised? Will the actress — once...

In court on Monday, Lohan's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley objected to restrictions placed on the actress, which will prevent her from leaving the Los Angeles area.
Lohan appeared before Judge Marsha Revel on Monday morning - five days after she failed to appear at a mandatory hearing - and was ordered to refrain from drinking or doing drugs for the foreseeable future.
The judge, who initially issued a warrant for the star's arrest last Thursday after she failed to show up, told Lohan she could remain free on bail, but she must wear a Scram device on her ankle and submit to random drug tests.
Judge Revel also insisted the actress must attend weekly alcohol education classes.
The lawmaker ruled that Lohan risked jail if she failed to comply with any of the stipulations of her bail.
Holley pointed out that the restrictions would prevent Lohan from travelling to Texas for a movie, but the judge was unsympathetic.
Wallum says, "I hope she was referring to our movie."...

Not so fast, haters. It turns out that Lindsay Lohan, who was fitted for yet another Scram bracelet yesterday despite her protestations that it might get in the way of upcoming projects, does indeed have prospects in Texas. Lohan is in talks to play a character called "Lieutenant" in the Willie Nelson-produced adventure comedy The Dry Gulch Kid, which starts shooting in the Lone Star State this summer, E! News has learned exclusively. So while the 23-year-old actress maybe got a little whiny about having to wear the alcohol monitor, she wasn't lying about her work prospects. "We are in talks, but nothing is confirmed yet," the country icon's production partner, Kerry Wallum,...

He's been acting for 30 years and recently even became part of a franchise (Dukes of Hazzard), but I would never think of Willie Nelson as a movie star. Yet the country music icon and star of 1980s Honeysuckle Rose has launched a production company called Luck Films, which will produce 3-5 films a year, many featuring Nelson and/or his music. Nelson isn't going at this alone, though. Joining him are actor/producer Kerry Wallum, actor/filmmaker Norman Macera and producers Scott Macauley and David Von Roehm. According to Variety, each release will have a budget under $3 million.
The company's first movie, which I can't find any info on except that it will star Nelson and start shooting in May, is called The Dry Gulch Kid. The next, titled Shoot Out of Luck, will feature Nelson and Randall 'Tex' Cobb as sideshow cowboys who "tangle" with the mob for a...

Willie Nelson wants to make movies. Don.t worry, he has no plans to give his Dukes of Hazzard character his own film, he just wants to run his own production company. According to Variety, Nelson is launching Luck Films based in Luck, Texas. The company doesn.t fall completely on Nelson.s shoulders; he.ll have help from actor/producer Kerry Wallum, actor/filmmaker Norman Macera and producer/directors Scott McCauley and David Von Roehm. The plan is to produce three to five films a year, each costing $3 million or less. Naturally, Luck is also looking to create musical specials as well as documentary films for TV and subscription Internet streaming. They.ve already got two films lined up, Shootout of Luck and The Dry Gulch Kid, both of which star Nelson. The Shootout of Luck trailer is already up on the company.s website and it.s well,...
