Adam Devine, J.K. Simmons, Sam Richardson and Elsie Fisher will lend their voices to “Hypergalactic,” the CG animated family feature co-created by Naoto Oshima, best known for designing the original “Sonic the Hedgehog” for Sega, and Joseph Chou.
The English-language film, directed by David N. Weiss and now in post-production, marks the most ambition CG feature to date from Toei Animation. The Japanese studio was behind recent anime smash hits “The First Slam Dunk,” which grossed $279 million, and “One Piece Film: Red,” which has so far earned $246.6 million.
Charades are set to launch worldwide sales on “Hypergalatic” at Berlin’s European Film Market, alongside Iwashina Corporation founder Kevin Iwashina, who is also an advisor to Toei.
“Hypergalactic” follows an adventurous teenage girl (Fisher) and her baby brother in the not-so-distant future, after they liberate the forgotten protector of Earth, Ohkan (Devine), in the hopes that he can help reunite them with their missing parents.

Disenchanted, the long-awaited sequel to Disney’s Enchanted, opens with a heavy dose of reality: A new baby, a distant teenager and a cramped apartment have left Giselle (Amy Adams) feeling disgruntled with her Happily Ever After. The New York City she came to love in the first film — where she pirouetted through Central Park and sang tunes with strangers — has lost its charm. The boredom of domesticity has settled in its place, and Giselle is itching for change.
When Giselle spots an advertisement for a home in Monroeville, a cartoonish suburban haven in upstate New York, she leaps at the chance to restore some of the magic to her life. Along with her new baby, her husband Robert (Patrick Dempsey) and a now teenage Morgan (Gabriella Baldacchino), Giselle moves to the idyllic land of fixer-uppers, commuter trains and competitive PTA parents.

If you need any proof of the faulty decision-making exemplified by the Oscars, consider that they failed to give Amy Adams an Academy Award for her sterling work in the 2007 Disney fantasy "Enchanted." Adams' performance in "Enchanted," in which she delivered a true breakout-star turn as an animated princess brought into the real world who was forced to learn about how our world is a bit different than hers, is a genuine force of nature. Though Adams was not a true ingenue at that point, she revealed her immense depth in screwball comedy, romance, and drama in her role as Giselle of Andalasia. But as remarkable as the performance was, revisiting the role that made her an A-List star 15 years down the line is a true risk. Yet it's a delightful surprise that the Disney+ sequel, "Disenchanted," in spite of having a thudder of a title, is a moderately charming affair bolstered,...

A lot of people thought that HBO could never recapture the public goodwill that was lost after that questionable "Game of Thrones" ending. And a lot of people were wrong. "House of the Dragon" was a major ratings and critical success, one that basically guaranteed a renewal from the moment the viewership numbers for the premiere rolled in.

“Enchanted” will always be known as the movie that introduced most of the world to Amy Adams, whisking her from the darling of indie films like “Drop Dead Gorgeous” and “Junebug” to one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors.
But a large part of the reason audiences fell in love with Amy Adams is because they fell under the spell of “Enchanted” as a whole. In director Kevin Lima and writer Bill Kelly’s 2007 film, Adams plays Giselle, a maiden of the mythical Andalasia who sings to forest critters and dreams of falling in love. She finds what she’s looking for in Prince Edward (James Marsden), but before they can go live happily ever after, his nefarious mother Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) sends her flying through a portal to New York City. It looks like Netflix is going to be the studio that finally brings us a remake of the classic 1950 Jimmy Stewart film Harvey.
Hollywood has been trying to get this film off the ground for years. At one point nine years ago, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks were supposed to develop it. But for one reason or another, it never happened.
Harvey tells the story of an amiable eccentric, Elwood P. Dowd, and his friendship with a six and a half foot tall invisible rabbit and how this affects every member of his family and his community. It’s such a fun concept and I really liked the original film. I guess it was only a matter of time before this movie got remade.

Exclusive: There have been many attempts in Hollywood to bring the classic Jimmy Stewart dramedy Harvey to the big screen, the latest being about nine years ago with Steven Spielberg (and Tom Hanks’ name being bandied about) under a Fox/DreamWorks machination. Now Netflix is readying to pull the 6 ft. rabbit out of its hat with writers J. David Stem and David N. Weiss who are set to adapt a remake of the 1950 film. Fábrica de Cine, which is in business with Netflix’s highly anticipated Martin Scorsese/Robert De Niro mob film The Irishman, is also on board to produce this one.
Harvey began as a play before becoming a beloved film about a man named Elwood P. Dowd who has a maybe-not-so-imaginary 6ft. tall rabbit friend named Harvey. The story has been brought to the small screen five times since its feature film debut some 69 years ago, but...

China’s Bona Film and Japan’s Toei Animation have teamed to develop and co-produce big-budget English-language animation feature, “The Monkey Prince.” The film, which has already been in early preparation since 2015 is pitched as “a Chinese legend, mixed with Hollywood story-telling, and Japanese animation.”
John A Davis will direct from a script by David Stem and David N. Weiss, as an adaptation on the oft-told “Monkey King” story. Co-creator isNaoto Oshima (“Jimmy Neutron”) and Craig Elliot as head of design. Production is by Chuck Williams.
The picture also involves Japanese production company Sola Entertainment, Sammy and Marza Animation, Taiwan-based A Really Good Film Company, which is a run by Bona executive VP Jeffrey Chan and is an affiliate of Bona. Amy Adams during an appearance today on The Talk gave a brief update on the status of Disenchanted, Disney’s long-in-the-works sequel to its Adams-starring 2007 hit about Giselle, the singing animated Disney princess who crosses over into the real world.
“I am absolutely up for that,” Adams said when asked by co-host Sara Gilbert about reprising her role in a sequel. “We’re working on it — so hopefully.”
There has been no recent movement on the project at Disney — the sequel is currently in development with Adam Shankman attached to direct. But Enchanted 2 was in the works as far back as 2014, when Anne Fletcher was aboard to helm a script written by J. David Stem and David N. Weiss from an earlier draft by Jessie Nelson. Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld are back as producers.

2007’s Enchanted was a critical and box-office hit, so it’s surprising that additional chapters in the fairy tale haven’t been churned out, especially since “happily ever after” isn’t a hard and fast rule anymore. And yet, nearly 10 years have passed since Amy Adams chirped her way into Patrick Dempsey’s and our hearts. A sequel was announced back in 2014, which was to be written by The Smurfs’ J. David Stem and David N. Weiss, though it’s languished in pre-production.
But now it looks like someone’s said the magic words to reinvigorate the project, as Empire Magazine reports that Rock Of Ages director Adam Shankman will helm the Enchanted follow-up. Shankman’s filmography includes 2007’s Hairspray, as well as such contemporary fairy tales as The Wedding Planner (there’s a coveted shoe involved in their meet-cute), Bringing Down The House (in which ...

A new report suggests that Disney Pictures is moving forward again on an "Enchanted" sequel and even has a new title for it - "Disenchanted".
Collider broke the news, saying that's the working title for the film which is now "in the process of punching up the script with the hopes that it will be in greenlight-ready shape very soon."
It has been eight years since the first film and the studio has been trying to get a follow-up going for a good portion of that period.
At last report J. David Stem and David N. Weiss ("Shrek 2," "The Smurfs") had signed on to write the screenplay and Anne Fletcher ("The Proposal") remains attached to direct. No word if Amy Adams, James Marsden or Susan Sarandon would return.

Paramount Pictures is moving forward with their plans for a third G.I. Joe movie, and they've hired Jonathan Lemkin to write the script. According to Variety, the story will focus on Dwayne Johnson's character, Roadblock, who was introduced in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Lemkin has previously worked on films such as Shooter with Mark Wahlberg, Devil's Advocate with Keanu Reeves, and Lethal Weapon 4. The studio is hoping to get the sequel into production in 2015 for a 2016 release. As big of a fan I am of the G.I. Joe franchise, the live-action movies that have been made sure have been a big letdown. This is one franchise I wouldn't mind seeing rebooted.
In other news, Disney has decided to dust off their plans for an Enchanted sequel and move it into development. The studio has hired J. David Stem and David N. Weiss to take on the duties of writing the screenplay.

Seven years after Disney brought Amy Adams into our lives as the real life princess that we’d always dreamed could exist, they’re attempting to make magic happen again with a sequel to their 2007 hit Enchanted, according to Deadline. In that first movie, doe-eyed, full of wonder and dressed like an adorable cupcake Giselle (Adams) peeled herself away from the animated kingdom of Andalasia when a wicked queen (Susan Sarandon) banished her to plain old regular Earth for fear that she would marry her princely stepson (James Marsden) and unseat her from her throne. With Enchanted 2 now a reality, maybe that means Giselle and her true love from New York City (Patrick Dempsey) didn’t wind up happily ever after as it so tidily seemed at the end of the first film. Or Prince Edward and his equally earthly girlfriend (Idina Menzel) weren’t exactly a match either. Having...

J. David Stem and David N. It's been four years since we heard about Disney developing a sequel to their fairytale comedy Enchanted starring Oscar nominee Amy Adams. And it's been even longer since the 2007 film hit theaters, but that's not stopping Disney from keeping their hopes for Enchanted 2 high as Deadline reports a pair of writers have been hired to script the film. David N. Weiss & J. David Stem are set to script the film, and with films like Are We There Yet?, Daddy Day Camp and The Smurfs in their past, that doesn't inspire much confidence. But there's a glimmer of hope as the duo also scripted Shrek 2, which is a solid sequel. Read on! It's not clear who will all be returning from the first film, but one would hope that Amy Adams is a high priority, and there probably shouldn't be a sequel without her unless it focuses on another princess.

Way back in 2007, "Enchanted" filled our hearts with crazy love for Amy Adams and made some serious bank, so it's high time for Disney to try and make a sequel!
J. David Stem and David N. Weiss ("Daddy Day Camp," "Are We There Yet," "Shrek 2") will be writing the script, and Anne Fletcher ("The Guilt Trip," "27 Dresses," "Step Up") will direct. How could this go wrong?!
There's no word on whether or not Adams, who has wowed audiences with dramatic performances in "American Hustle," "Her," "The Master," among others, will reprise her role as Giselle, and, well, why would she? Her career is so crazy good that it would be silly to take a break from her dramatic work to sing for her supper in a sequel.
Meanwhile, her co-stars seem pretty busy too. Idina Menzel is busy still rocking Broadway and racking up awards, Susan Sarandon is holding it down in Hollywood,...

It's been seven years since Disney released its "Enchanted" film, which stars Amy Adams and grossed $340 million on a budget of $85 million. In the original film, a fairytale princess is sent to our world by an evil queen. Soon after her arrival, Princess Giselle begins to change her views on life and love after meeting a handsome lawyer. Can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?...

It's been seven years since Amy Adams first portrayed princess Giselle in Enchanted. Now Disney is finally going to work on that sequel we've all been waiting for. The studio has hired writing duo David Stem and David N. Weiss (Smurfs 2, Shrek 2, Daddy Day Camp) to pen the script to the overdue followup.
Anne Fletcher (The Guilt Trip, The Proposal) is set to direct the sequel. However, there's no word on whether Adams will reprise her role as Princess Giselle. In 2007, Enchanted's worldwide gross was more than $340 million. The movie earned numerous Oscar nominations and Golden Globe nominations.
Enchanted 2 is being produced by Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld. Jessie Nelson wrote an early draft of the script.

I have no qualms about admitting that I absolutely loved Enchanted. Filled with incredibly catchy musical numbers (“That’s How You Know” and “Happy Working Song” spring most to mind), hilarious characters, a remarkably self-aware script and a winningly upbeat spirit, it was one of the most plainly fun movies of 2007.
Of course, when the film came out, there was talk of a sequel, but nothing ever really came together. As a big fan of Enchanted, I thought maybe that was a good thing. After all, the story wasn’t exactly conducive to a follow-up, and I didn’t want there to be any chance that an inferior sequel could in any way diminish the spell cast by the original. In a post-Frozen world, however, it appears that there’s new interest in Enchanted 2.
