Apple TV+’s official trailer for season three of Ted Lasso is sweet and just all-around awesome. There’s cheering and laughing, backed by The Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” for the first minute and 20ish seconds. It’s not until the final 20 seconds that there’s dialogue and it’s the team cheering, “I love you all so very much!”
The Emmy and Critics Choice Awards-winning comedy kicks off season three on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. New episodes arrive on subsequent Wednesdays.
Jason Sudeikis returns as Ted Lasso, Hannah Waddingham is back as Rebecca Welton, Brett Goldstein returns as Roy Kent, and Jeremy Swift is back as Higgins. Phil Dunster is Jamie Tartt, Brendan Hunt plays Coach Beard, Nick Mohammed is Nathan Shelley, Anthony Head is Rupert Mannion, and Toheeb Jimoh is Sam Obisany.

Our favorite underdogs are back, as Apple TV+ released a new trailer Monday for “Ted Lasso” Season 3 showing fan-favorite Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) stepping up as assistant coach when Nate (Nick Mohammed) switches over to a rival team.
With the third installment of the Emmy-winning comedy, which will debut on Apple TV+ March 15, AFC Richmond takes a shot at the Premier League, which is betting on its last-place finish.
Following its record-breaking, back-to-back Emmy wins for its freshman and sophomore seasons, “Ted Lasso” returns with 12 weekly episodes centering on the newly-promoted Greyhounds. The team must reckon with the ridicule that comes with media predictions that widely peg them as last in the League, along with Nate’s contentious departure to work for Rupert (Anthony Head) at West Ham United.
With that, Roy Kent becomes an assistant coach alongside Beard (Brendan Hunt). Meanwhile, Ted (Jason Sudeikis) deals with pressures at work,...

“Ted Lasso” is warming up for the big match. The Apple TV+ hit is returning for its third season in less than a month, and the full official trailer for the upcoming season has been released by the streamer.
Based (very) loosely on a series of 2013 NBC Sports ads promoting the channel’s coverage of Britain’s Premier League, “Ted Lasso” stars Jason Sudeikis as the title character, a corny but unfailingly kindhearted college American Football coach who gets the opportunity to coach the middling AFC Richmond association football team in England. Although initially mocked by the press and distrusted by the team, Ted’s compassionate approach to coaching slowly wins them over, and he and the club’s owner Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) become determined to win the league by any means necessary.

Nate finally has a seat at the window table, but does he have anyone to share it with anymore? It's one of the many questions percolating now that we have a trailer for season 3 of "Ted Lasso," the beloved series that will finally be making a comeback next month.
The nearly two-minute sneak peek is underscored by The Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want," which seems to be pretty telling of what audiences should expect for our favorite Richmond crew. That said, it doesn't seem to always be a bad thing. The mood of the trailer is jovial and fresh, and though there appear to be some bumps in the road for Ted and his team, it doesn't break their stride one bit. No surprises there, to be honest.
In fact, there's a key Stones lyric that comes into focus to highlight what we're sure to see...

America’s favorite (fictional) Premier League team, AFC Richmond, is headed back to the pitch in a matter of weeks.
Apple TV+ has set a March 15 premiere date for season three of Ted Lasso. The two-time Emmy winner for best comedy series will roll out its 12-episode season weekly starting then — which puts its finale at May 31, the last day of eligibility for Emmy consideration this year. “Ted Lasso” Season 3, which will return to Apple TV+ in spring 2023, has unveiled its first-look image, which sees Nathan (Nick Mohammed) and Ted (Jason Sudeikis) going head-to-head.
While Ted is shown smiling, Nathan seems austere and focused. In Season 2, viewers followed the latter as he struggled to step into his confidence and at times toed the line between cruelty and asserting himself as someone who is often overlooked. While plot details for the junior installment are being kept under wraps, the photo seems to imply that the tension between Ted and Nathan will continue to evolve.

The 2022 Emmys ballot for Best Comedy Writing has 195 episode submissions, which means there will be seven nominees. As a reminder, last year’s winner was the pilot of “Hacks”, beating out the pilots of “The Flight Attendant” (Steve Yockey), “Girls5Eva” (Meredith Scardino) and “Ted Lasso”, along with the “PEN15” episode “Play” (Maya Erskine) and the “Ted Lasso”episode “Make Rebecca Great Again”.
Last year, an argument could be made that “Hacks” prevailed due to “Ted Lasso” having two episodes in the category and splitting its own votes. This scenario could repeat as the former only entered its season finale “The One, The Only” by the same three writing champs and “Ted Lasso” submitted both “Rainbow” (Bill Wrubel) and “No Weddings and a Funeral” (Jane Becker).

Based on a character Jason Sudeikis originally created for NBC promos, Ted Lasso the guy evolved into Ted Lasso, the Apple TV+ comedy series. It quickly became a hit, securing 20 Emmy nominations and seven wins in its first season including for Outstanding Comedy Series. The second season premiered in July 2021, and a third season recently began filming.
The Bill Wrubel-penned Season 2 episode “Rainbow” is the latest installment of It Starts On the Page, Deadline’s annual series that highlights the scripts that serve as the creative backbones of the buzzy shows that will define the now-underway TV awards season. You made it through the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Directors Guild Awards, and the Producers Guild Awards, too. The wait for the Oscars is almost over, but one more major guild had yet to give out its trophies before the Academy Awards. Tonight, Hollywood’s top writers came together for the Writers Guild of America Awards, which honored the finest achievements in film and television writing.
On the film side, the nominees were actually quite different from what you’ll see at the Oscars next week. In the Original Screenplay category, “Licorice Pizza,” “Don’t Look Up,” and “King Richard” were still nominated, but “Belfast” and “The Worst Person in the World” were replaced with “Being the Ricardos.” The Adapted Screenplay category was even more distinct, with only two Oscar contenders (“Dune” and “Coda”) nominated.

Sunday’s 74th Writers Guild of America Awards will wrap up the guild season, along with the American Society of Cinematographers Awards. Will the winners be an Oscar preview?
“Licorice Pizza,” written by Paul Thomas Anderson, and “Coda,” by Sian Heder, are favored to win Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay, respectively. However, they are not facing off against many of their Oscar rivals as the WGA’s rules have rendered several scripts ineligible, including Oscar nominees “Belfast” and “The Worst Person in the World” in original, and “Drive My Car,” “The Lost Daughter” and “The Power of the Dog” in adapted. But if they both prevail, they will have bagged the two top industry prizes as they won at BAFTA last weekend right in the middle of final Oscar voting (it ends Tuesday).

“Nomadland” look home the top film prize at the 2021 Producers Guild Awards Wednesday, bringing it closer to a Best Picture win. The winner of the PGA Awards’ top prize has historically been a strong indicator of which film will will go on to win the Best Picture Oscar. Since 1989, the PGA winner has matched up with the top Oscar 21 out of 31 times. It happened in 2018 with “Green Book,” but not last year: “1917” won at the 2020 PGAs, but the Academy Award for Best Picture went to “Parasite.”
This year, 10 movies competed for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures (see the full list of nominees and winners below). Seven 2021 PGA nominees for the top prize are also 2021 Oscar Best Picture nominees: “Judas and the Black Messiah,” “Mank,” “Minari,” “Nomadland,” “Promising Young Woman,” “Sound Of Metal,” and “The Trial of the Chicago 7.”

The Writers Guild of America Awards were handed during a virtual ceremony on Sunday, March 21. But don’t base your Oscar predictions on these kudos. Every year a slew of Oscar-nominated scripts are deemed ineligible for consideration here due to guild guidelines. Indeed, over the past 12 years only 80 of the Writers Guild of America Awards nominees have numbered among the 120 screenplays that reaped Academy Awards bids. Scroll down for the 2021 Writers Guild of America Awards winners list.
Our odds predict that “Nomadland” will win Best Adapted Screenplay winner at the Oscars but it was not allowed to compete at the WGA Awards. Neither was another Oscar contender in that category: “The Father.” The guild did match the academy three-for-five in this category, with “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” “One Night in Miami” and “The White Tiger” competing at both. “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and “News of the World” round out the guild nominees.

Under the pact, seasoned comedy creator/showrunner Lizer will develop new television projects for broadcast, cable, and streaming services though her company, Kari’s Logo Here.
In addition to CBS’ The New Adventures of Old Christine, which ran for five seasons and earned star Julia Louis-Dreyfuss an Emmy award. Lizer also created and executive produced the CBS comedy series Maggie Winters toplined by Faith Ford.
She also did a four-year stint on the original Will and Grace. Over the past several years, Lizer wrote a number of broadcast projects that went to pilot, most recently, Dream Team at ABC in 2016, which she co-created with Bill Wrubel.
Lizer is repped by CAA and attorney Bob Getman.

It’s official — ABC’s flagship comedy series Modern Family will wrap its run after one more season. The Emmy-winning family comedy has been picked up for an eleventh and final season, the network announced at TCA. I hear it will consist of at least 18 episodes and could expand to 22 episodes.
Modern Family’s renewal was all but assured when the original adult cast, stars Ed O’Neill, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara, in December agreed on new deals with producing studio 20th Century Fox TV to return. Since then, the studio also has signed co-creators/executive producers Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd for another season, and also has made new deals with the original kid actors — now all young adults — Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez. I hear some of those cast negotiations came down to the wire, with pacts finally closing overnight.

ABC has set an end date for “Modern Family,” renewing the sitcom for an 11th and final season.
The announcement was made by ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke on Tuesday at the Television Critics Association press tour.
“Chris and Steve have created one of the most seminal and iconic comedies in television history,” Burke said. “In its final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won’t want to miss.”

During its run, “Modern Family” was among the most-nominated comedy series, winning a total of 22 Emmys, including five straight years for Outstanding Comedy Series (2010-2014). “Even after 10 years together, we realized there are still some things our writers don’t yet know about each other’s sex lives,” co-creator and executive producer Steve Levitan said.

Meanwhile, executive producer Chuck Tatham will be leaving, along with co-executive producer Andy Gordon and consulting producer Christy Stratton. The tweaks are part of maintaining a long-running series, especially one as creatively demanding as Modern Family. Modern Family’s writing staff underwent…...
