After seven episodes into “And Just Like That” season 2, fans finally witnessed Aidan Shaw’s (John Corbett) anticipated return to the “Sex and the City” franchise.
Now that Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) beloved ex is back in the mix, fans are wondering what storyline will ensue given that Aidan “was Carrie’s best boyfriend” in the original series, said “Ajlt” writer, Samantha Irby, on the the show’s official “And Just Like That… The Writers Room” podcast. “He is the one who should have won… He and Carrie had such an insane chemistry, it was like jumping off the screen. They just looked so good and perfect.”
With that said, and the time that’s passed between them, the writers and showrunner, Michael Patrick King, decided to give Corbett “a makeover” to bring Aidan back in “a new way.”

Albert Einstein reportedly said that “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” Like many quotes commonly attributed to historical figures who have appeared in the Night at the Museum franchise, Einstein never actually said this. But to paraphrase another famous historical figure, Caroline Marie Bradshaw, I couldn’t help but think about that quote while watching this season of And Just Like That…, the oft-maligned Sex and the City reboot. Specifically, I couldn’t help but apply it to Che Diaz,...

“And Just Like That,” the hit “Sex and the City” spinoff from HBO Max (soon to be just Max), dropped its first Season 2 teaser trailer Wednesday, showcasing the glamorous, casual sex-filled life of our widowed hero Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) — only for it to be interrupted by a reunion with her ex-fiance Aidan (John Corbett).
Along with its teaser, the streamer revealed that the series will return this June.
The series stars original “Sex and the City” cast members Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis — all of whom also executive produce with Michael Patrick King. Joining them are returning series regulars Sara Ramírez, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Christopher Jackson, Niall Cunningham, Cathy Ang, and Alexa Swinton.
The last we saw of Corbett’s Aidan was in the franchise’s “Sex And The City 2” feature film in 2010, which had Carrie running into him in Abu Dhabi.

HBO Max has dropped the Season 2 teaser for “And Just Like That,” its successful revival of “Sex and the City.” The company also announced the show will premiere in June, without announcing the specific date yet — at that point, the streamer will simply be known as Max.
The teaser, narrated by Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), begins with a very “Sex and the City” sentiment: “No matter what life hands you, you can always count on your closest friends to be there.” We then see a montage of scenes that reveal the current relationships of Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Che (Sara Ramírez) and Carrie and her podcast producer, Franklin (Ivan Hernandez). “It’s just sex!” Carrie says.
“And just like that,” Carrie continues, “I realized some things are better left in the past. But maybe… not everything.”
Which is when we see Carrie’s ex-boyfriend Aidan (John Corbett) appear on her stoop.

HBO Max's And Just Like That... is certainly off to a tumultuous start, but the shocking plot twist in the premiere episode isn't enough to take our attention away from the biggest changes in the Sex and the City franchise. The original HBO series made a major splash on TV, paving the way for it to run for six seasons and set up its two highly anticipated films. But despite the show being set in New York City - a city whose population is 42 percent white and 24 percent Black - it hardly reflected that reality.
When Sex and the City's so-called "diversity" problem became abundantly clear, the creators of the show set out to ensure its revival didn't repeat the same mistake. The original show's legacy was largely shaped by the perspectives of four white women, and it failed to add any people of color as series regulars or properly represent LGBTQ+ people.

When the cast of HBO Max’s Sex and the City sequel And Just Like That… hit the red carpet in New York City on Wednesday night, everything was different.
After more than two decades since the original series premiered, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis reunited but this time they invited a new and more diverse cast and team of writers to play in this fan-favorite universe that aims to mirror what the world looks more accurately.
“I think the only thing worse than a lack of diversity is faux diversity or diversity for diversity’s sake,” series writer Keli Goff told Deadline at the premiere during a conversation that also included fellow writers Rachna Fruchbom and Samantha Irby. “You never know until you get started [on a project] because all of us have been in those situations where someone wants to hire us but then nobody cares what we have to say.

“Whenever I see the word ‘sex’ nowadays, it’s usually written in pink, not black,” Michael Patrick King said gleefully on a boundless red carpet, stretched through the lobby of the Museum of Modern Art on Wednesday evening in New York City, where “And Just Like That,” HBO’s revival of “Sex in the City,” held its world premiere.
“There’s a reason for that,” the series creator said, while celebrity guests like Matthew Broderick, Andrew Rannells, Anna Wintour, Gayle King and Andy Cohen walked the carpet. “‘Sex in the City’ offered a new kind of television. When E.R. Fightmaster first read the scripts for Season 3 of “Shrill,” they were delighted to see their character’s pronouns had been changed — and with very little fanfare. After a brief stint on Season 2, Fightmaster impressed their way into a substantial recurring role as Em after displaying great chemistry with Fran (Lolly Adefope). Fran is the snarky best friend and perennial roommate of Aidy Bryant’s Annie, the show’s intrepid and cheerful main character, who is based on co-creator and co-writer Lindy West. As Fran’s dreamy new love interest, Fightmaster instantly became “Shrill” family.
With nary a comment from the writers, either behind the scenes or onscreen, the character’s name had changed from Emily to Em, and everyone on the show easily transitioned to using they/them pronouns.
If only it were that easy in real life, Fightmaster mused during a recent phone interview. “It’s...
