Daisy Ridley shot to fame as the leading protagonist Rey in Star Wars’ sequel trilogy. She shared screen space with newcomers Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, and John Boyega, as well as Star Wars veterans such as Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford in the films. The films were divisive in their responses, with creator George Lucas himself not being a fan.
After Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, which ended Rey’s arc, Ridley has been keeping busy with other projects and has also begun a career as an executive producer. However, she will be returning as Rey in an upcoming Star Wars film. Ridley mentioned that she almost manifested a Rey-centered film right before meeting with LucasFilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a story of friendship so timeless it’s still beloved nearly 20 years after it first premiered.
The original movie arrived in 2005, introducing us to best friends played by Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera and Blake Lively who are united… by a universally flattering pair of pants. They got back together again for a sequel in 2008, and there’s been talk of a third movie over the years.
The cast has been in the news recently thanks to their enduring friendships, and we got curious about how much everyone was worth.
We did some digging and put together a ranking of the franchise’s biggest stars based on their estimated net worth! Who comes out on top? The character was introduced in the second movie and beats out the next closest earner by $10 million.

Ryan Gosling visited “The Tonight Show” ahead of his latest hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live” and spoke about his internet-breaking live performance of “I’m Just Ken” at the Oscars last month. Asked by host Jimmy Fallon if it was an immediate yes when the Academy called him up to request he perform the “Barbie” original song live during the ceremony, Gosling said his answer was “100% no.”
“There’s a lot of ways that could go wrong,” Gosling said.
But the performance went very right. Gosling, bathed in pink lighting and wearing a sparkling pink suit and pink gloves, started singing “I’m Just Ken” while in the audience sitting behind Margot Robbie. He then made his way to the stage, where he was joined by Mark Ronson and Slash on guitars. His fellow Ken actors Simu Liu, Scott Evans, Ncuti Gatwa and Kingsley Ben-Adir joined the armada of backup dancers behind Gosling.

The 40th edition of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, one of the key stops on the road to the Oscars, will take place Feb. 4-15, 2025 — two days longer than past editions of the fest on the American Riviera, to allow for extra programming in celebration of the milestone — the fest announced on Thursday.

Long before Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” started taking shape, actress and philanthropist Sharon Stone had pitched for a movie featuring the iconic doll. The difference is that hers was not so warmly received.
Sharon Stone – Says Studio Execs Didn’t Want A “Powerful” Barbie
Greta Gerwig‘s “Barbie” was mostly all we could talk about last year, so much so that if you hadn’t seen it, you weren’t considered cool.
So now we’ve got a Barbie that challenges stereotypes and male roles in the society, and it’s a billion-dollar win for Warner Bros, but Sharon Stone had conceived a similar idea a few years back and no one wanted to listen to her.

Despite having a number of iconic characters in his bag, Ken just might have one of the most career-defining moments in Ryan Gosling’s career. And thus, it is not that easy to leave that behind. Barbie not only was one of the movies that took the world by storm but also the box office, all thanks to the directorial greatness of Greta Gerwig. Although already known as somewhat of an icon, after Barbie’s billion-dollar success, her name has now been cemented.
And as Gosling moves forward from Barbie and joins forces with the Oppenheimer star, Emily Blunt, it turns out he still can’t quite leave the Gerwig magic behind. Blunt recently revealed that her character in The Fall Guys was based on the Barbie director.

When life gives you lemons, you have to make lemonade - and that's exactly what Shakira did after heartbreak. When the Colombian pop star learned in 2022 that Gerard Piqué, her partner of 11 years and the father of her two sons, was cheating on her, I'm sure it felt as if her life was falling apart. But when she couldn't bear the pain and the betrayal, she did what most musicians do - she turned it into art.
The first song Shakira released that was directly related to the breakup was 2022's "Te Felicito" with Puerto Rican Latin trap artist Rauw Alejandro. The song not only marked Shakira's comeback, it was also the first in a string of singles that would display her healing journey to the world and eventually become part of her latest highly anticipated album, "Las Mujeres Ya no Lloran," which was released on March 22.

The leyenda known for his early 2000s hits like "Dale Don," "Sácala," and "Salió el Sol," has officially returned to the scene with his "Back to Reggateon" US Tour, produced by Cmn. The tour not only marks his highly anticipated return to the stage but also beautifully celebrates his two-decade-long career and its impactful contributions to the genre.

Fashion designer and TV personality Jenna Lyons and HauteLeMode style critic Luke Meagher are breaking down their favorite Oscars 2024 red carpet looks in The Hollywood Reporter’s Red Carpet Roundup.
The two opinionated fashion voices met up the day after the 96th Academy Awards to weigh in on the best and most talked-about outfits of the night for a video that appears exclusively on THR. The pair also talked about what goes into creating a red carpet moment.
In the conversation, Lyons explains that when dressing celebrities who are in the same movie, stylists often consider what the other star is wearing. Using Barbie actresses Margot Robbie and America Ferrera as an example, Lyons highlighted that Robbie owned the color pink throughout the Barbie press tour, while Ferrera stuck mainly to black looks. However, for the big night, Ferrera finally debuted a pink ensemble. The supporting actress nominee wore a pink chainmail dress by Versace,...

Anyone seeking additional proof that the 2024 Oscars were rooted in a bigger-is-better vibe, look no further than the abundance of high-jewelry choices seen on the red carpet and inside the Dolby Theatre. Necklaces sometimes tend to take a backseat to chandelier earrings or a statement cocktail ring on red carpets these days, but not this year, as chokers, pendants and sautoirs ruled the parade of gems at the 96th Academy Awards. (See all the star-studded Oscars red carpet 2024 arrivals.)
Other jewelry trends seen at the 96th Academy Awards include a prevalence of jaw-dropping gemstones, from the sapphires on Emma Stone’s Louis Vuitton high jewelry and the morganites favored by Zendaya — one of the night’s best-dressed stars — to the stunning aquamarine of 30-plus carats on the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book necklace worn by Gabrielle Union. White diamonds tend to rule major red carpets, and though they were undeniably omnipresent here as well,...

If Vladimir Putin was watching the Academy Awards on Sunday night from his dacha on the Black Sea, his mood may have been blackened by the Best Documentary Feature category. As Deadline’s Doc Talk podcast had predicted, the Oscar went to 20 Days in Mariupol, Mstyslav Chernov’s harrowing film about the early days of Russia’s brutal siege of the Ukrainian port city.
Chernov delivered emotional remarks as he accepted the Oscar, saying he would gladly trade his trophy for the lives of the thousands of Ukrainian civilians killed by Russia’s aggression. Kate McKinnon and America Ferrera served as presenters for that category as well as for Best Documentary Short; Doc Talk called that race accurately as well, predicting victory for The Last Repair Shop, the film by Ben Proudfoot and Kris Bowers.

Ryan Gosling’s charming presence was one of the eagerly awaited moments of yesterday’s Oscars night. The Hollywood heartthrob took to the stage to perform I’m Just Ken — one of the nominated Barbie song by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt.
Billie Eilish’s What Was I Made For? was another one. Decked out in a sparkly pink suit, a cowboy hat, and pink gloves, Gosling kicked off his performance by serenading his Barbie co-star Margot Robbie.

As the clock inched toward midnight at the Vanity Fair Oscars party (and on the eight-month long “Barbie” press tour), Greta Gerwig gleefully danced the night away.
With an In-n-Out burger in one hand and a cocktail in the other, Gerwig grooved to Dua Lipa’s hit “Dance the Night” with another one of her Barbies, Hari Nef, who sported a pink feathered Balenciaga jacket with a sizable train.
For this last hurrah, Gerwig swapped the pink boiler suit she famously wore while directing the $1.4 billion blockbuster (and the stunning Gucci gown she wore at the ceremony) for a black open tuxedo jacket, skipping a shirt in favor of draping Boucheron diamonds on her neck and chest.
Shortly after the “Barbie” song ended, the director was ready to take a load off, making her way to an open seat on the outdoor courtyard, because it had been a long day...

There's a reason why we're still talking about America Ferrera's "Barbie" monologue months after the blockbuster was released. While presenting the Best Supporting Actress award during the 2024 Oscars, Rita Moreno gave an emotional speech about Ferrera, who was nominated for her role of Gloria in the pink-filled film. While Ferrera didn't wind up taking home an Oscar - the award instead went to Da'Vine Joy Randolph for her role in "The Holdovers" - Moreno's speech left folks in the audience trying to understand why.
"America. Your powerful Barbie monologue is perhaps the most talked-about moment in the most talked-about movie of the past year," Moreno said. "Your words and the passion with which you delivered them about the most impossible standards females must try to live up to galvanized not only women but everyone with a pulse."

First things first, just what everyone wants to read the morning after Oscar Sunday: stats. At this year’s ceremony — which, thanks to an earlier start time, blessedly wrapped up before 10:30 p.m. Et — 13 women won Oscars. 11 of those winners enjoyed their first Academy Award win ever. That means that, at the 2024 Oscars, nearly 85 percent of its female winners smashed one of Hollywood’s highest, brightest ceilings for the first time.
As ever, that stat comes with a caveat or two, as some of the night’s biggest wins for female stars were repeats: Billie Eilish (alongside brother Finneas O’Connell) picked up her second Best Song win for the Barbie track “What Was I Made for,” making her the youngest two-time Oscar winner ever. And, perhaps most notably, a stunned Emma Stone won her second Best Actress statuette for her work in “Poor Things,” beating out first-time nominee Lily Gladstone...

Oscars producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan did their best to make this the “Barbie” Oscars. And, in some ways, the participation of Ryan Gosling, Billie Eilish, and America Ferrera assisted in that effort. But considering the blockbuster won only one Academy Award (Original Song), the telecast organically shifted its focus to two other global hits, “Oppenheimer” and “Poor Things,” which won seven and four Oscars respectively.

The 96th Academy Awards show felt like a real celebration, in a great year for movies — nearly all 10 of the Best Picture nominees were keepers. Kate McKinnon was jokingly shocked to learn that her “tasteful” nudes have actually not been going to Jeff Goldblum, but rather to Steven Spielberg.
The Saturday Night Live alum and her Barbie co-star America Ferrera initially took to the 2024 Oscars stage Sunday night to present the awards for best documentary short and best documentary feature.
“These awards honor the best in documentary filmmaking. Films that give us real stories about real life with past winners like Woodstock, Free Solo and Inconvenient Truth,” Ferrera said before McKinnon continued, “Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, Jurassic World Dominion.”
However, Ferrera had to quickly inform McKinnon that the Jurassic Park movies aren’t documentaries: “Kate, the dinosaurs weren’t real. … I know the dinosaurs were real but in the movie, they were CGI. There was a documentary about it.”

It’s been a bustling, seemingly nonstop awards season, but Hollywood’s stars and stylists truly did save the best for last.
That’s the verdict from the red carpet at Oscars 2024, which served up a plethora of looks that were often dramatic, sometimes over-the-top and grand, and occasionally just simply dazzling. Among the night’s biggest fashion surprises: Margot Robbie eschewed her now-trademark pink in favor of a beautifully sculpted gown in deep brown by Versace — and it was America Ferrera who embraced Barbie’s signature color in a stunning pink chainmail dress, also by Versace.
Indeed, Robbie turned out to be prescient with her choice of color, as noir-hued gowns ruled the 2024 Oscars red carpet. Some were sleek and simple, like the Dolce & Gabbana gown worn by Jamie Lee Curtis, or they brought the drama, with Sandra Hüller’s Schiaparelli and Carey Mulligan’s ivory-accented black mermaid...

Blame it on Kenergy.
On her way to the stage to accept the best actress 2024 Oscar for her role as Bella Baxter in Poor Things, Emma Stone was seen mouthing “my dress is broken!” to the cameras.
“I think it happened during ‘I’m Just Ken,’ I’m pretty sure,” the 35-year-old actress revealed during her acceptance speech.
The star wore a custom mermaid gown with high jewelry, both from Louis Vuitton.
Past best actress winners Sally Field, Jessica Lange, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron and Michelle Yeoh awarded the star her golden statue, with Lange rushing to Stone’s aid to fix her sculptural mint dress’ zipper wardrobe malfunction.

At the post-show press room, Stone revealed more about how her dress was ultimately fixed.
“They sewed me back in, right when I came back, it was wonderful,” said Stone. “I genuinely do think I busted it during ‘I’m Just Ken.

Jimmy Kimmel did a fantastic job with the 2024 Oscars opening monologue, touching briefly on politics but mostly focusing the jokes around this year’s nominees. Kimmel called out Greta Gerwig’s Oscar snub, this year’s Oppenheimer nomination being a new “high” in Robert Downey Jr’s career, and compared Emma Stone playing an adult woman with the brain of a child to the woman who gave the rebuttal to the State of the Union address. Kimmel’s monologue ended with a standing ovation as he brought Teamsters & IATSE members onto the stage, thanking them for standing with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA during last year’s strikes.

Another Oscars season is over. The 96th Academy Awards have wrapped, and the full 2024 Oscars winners list has been revealed.
“Oppenheimer” had an air of inevitability about it unlike few Best Picture contenders in recent memory: IndieWire’s Anne Thompson predicted it would win seven Oscars tonight, including the top prize. And indeed it did, nabbing seven statuettes overall. But the triumphs for “Oppenheimer” at the Golden Globes, the Critics Choice Awards, the BAFTAs, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards suggested it was the film to beat, by any standard.
“Oppenheimer” also received the most nominations overall, with 13. Its seven wins were for: Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr., Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Director for Christopher Nolan, and Best Picture — the most of any film tonight. The next-most nominations was 11 for “Poor Things,” and then 10 for “Killers of the Flower Moon.
