Kevin Hart is back with another Netflix film but this time instead of a comedy we see him as a master thief. Directed by F. Gary Gray, the Netflix film Lift revolves around a group of thieves who join hands with Interpol to get immunity for their past crime, but to do that they have to steal half a billion dollars worth of gold from a flying airplane without being caught by the owner of the gold, who is surprise surprise the bad guy. Lift also stars Úrsula Corberó, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sam Worthington, Billy Magnussen, Kim Yoon-ji, Jean Reno, and Vincent D’Onofrio starring in supporting roles. So, if you loved Lift and all of its action here are some similar films you could watch next.

It’s December 31st, and I’m sure you know what that means, dear reader… that’s right, it’s Val Kilmer’s birthday! Today we celebrate by examining the John Holmes crime pic Wonderland (2003), starring Kilmer as the fallen star.
I went into the proceedings expecting a more sweeping Boogie Nights-esque tale of an ill-fated career in the porn industry during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Boogie Nights, after all, was inspired by Holmes’s life. Instead, Wonderland is more focused on the days, weeks and months immediately on either side of the gruesome 8763 Wonderland Avenue murders in Laurel Canyon on July 1st, 1981. It is more of a microcosmic crime study than a sweeping cautionary tale. The “Four on the Floor Murders” quickly joined the ranks of the Manson family killings and the Black Dahlia murder as some of the most infamous crimes in 20th century Hollywood lore.

This Halloween, Lionsgate is bringing Jigsaw and all his deadly contraptions back to the big screen for a one-week limited re-release of James Wan’s indie horror triumph, Saw. To honor the occasion, I thought it would be fun to take a look back and celebrate some of my favorite traps and set-ups featured throughout the series.
Saw: The Reverse Bear Trap
We’ll just go ahead and start with the most iconic trap of the entire Saw franchise- the reverse bear trap that Shawnee Smith found herself locked inside of during Wan’s original film. Visually, the contraption is a horrific marvel of complicated steel and death, demonstrating just how visceral Jigsaw’s object lessons could be. And when you couple that with image of Smith waking up inside the reverse bear trap- and how she masterfully sells that moment with just the use of her eyes- it...

The Movie: Dead Man Down (2013) Studio: FilmDistrict Director: Niels Arden Oplev Starring: Colin Farrell as Victor, Noomi Rapace as Beatrice, Terrence Howard as Alphonse, Dominic Cooper as Darcy, Isabelle Huppert as Valentine Louzon, Franky G as Luco and F. Murray Abraham as Gregor Screenwriters: J.H. Wyman RottenTomatoes: 39% MetaCritic: 42/100 Snippet from My Review: (read my full review here) Dead Man Down feels like something Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita, Leon: The Professional) would have directed back in the mid-'90s, though the look is more modernized with a polished sheen and a penchant for slow-mo explosions and blue filters, which cinematographer Paul Cameron (Man on a Ledge, Total Recall) seems to excel in as of late. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but director Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) does manage to cut the expository moments to a minimum, allowing the film to rise above what could have...

Tripp (Rex Linn) speaks to the media about escaped prisoner, Dante Kroll (Franky G) advising people to be vigilant and not to approach him, then tells Ryan (Jonathan Togo) to keep an eye on one of his associates, Mike Darrow (Ramses Jimenez). Thought he said to watch out for him, not chase after him. He's arrested and provides Ryan with the whereabouts of Dante. Of course, he's not at the location but Tripp notices his brand of cigarettes at the abandoned warehouse. What possessed Delko (Adam Rodriguez) to wear a bright orange, prison-issue shirt? Even though he wanted to stand out in a crowd, especially at the arena, he was an easy mark going into the warehouse dressed like that. A man is pulled over by a policeman and is dragged out of his car and beaten to death, before his bag is stolen. Natalia (Eva La Rue) questions a...

The first casting news from the already controversial seventh entry into the Saw franchise, Saw VII in 3D, has hit the net and it yields no shockers. Yet, that is.
According to IMDb the returning (and unofficially confirmed) cast includes Tobin Bell, Betsy Russell, Costas Mandylor, and Tanedra Howard alongside (we're guessing in flashbacks) Alexandra Bokyun Chun, Jon Cor, Franky G, and Dru Viergever. Mind you, IMDb isn't the most reliable of sources so we await official confirmation from the powers that be.
Lionsgate's Saw VII will once again being helmed by a really troubled Kevin Greutert and written by the dastardly duo of Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Look for it in theatres this October 22nd when it will duke it out with a Paranormal Activity sequel.
Expect more really soon.

Tobin Bell, Betsy Russell, Costas Mandylor, Tanedra Howard will all be returning in Lionsgate's Saw VII 3D, alongside Alexandra Bokyun Chun, Jon Cor, Franky G and Dru Viergever, so says the unreliable IMDb. According to his recent blog entry, Kevin Greutert will in fact be heading up to Toronto has a replacement director to David Hackl after being pulled out of pre-production on Paranormal Activity 2 due to contract obligations. No word on where the story will go, but the seventh film was penned once again by writing duo Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Saw VII 3D arrives in theaters October 22.

After being called the "worst new show of the season" by USA Today, the Ray Liotta series Smith has come up in first place. Unfortunately, not in the way the show cast, creators and fans would like. Smith is the first new show of the season to be cancelled, after just three episodes.
Smith starred film actor Ray Liotta as Bobby Stevens, a man leading a double life. During the day, Stevens plays a typical suburban family man while at night he's an expert criminal who pulls off elaborate crimes with a crack team of thieves. Other series stars included Virginia Madsen, Simon Baker, Amy Smart, Johnny Lee Miller, Franky G and Chris Bauer. The series was the brainchild of ER creator Frank Wells.
Though CBS hasn't "officially" cancelled Smith, the show has been pulled from the Tuesday night line-up and it's not likely to return (especially as we enter...

Ray Liotta and Virginia Madsen have been tapped to star in Smith, a drama pilot by John Wells picked up at CBS. Amy Smart and Franky G also have been cast in the project, from Warner Bros. TV and John Wells Prods. Smith, written and to be executive produced by Wells, is a crime drama told from the point of view of a crew of career criminals. ER veteran Christopher Chulack is on board to direct. Liotta, a regular fixture on series producers' wish lists of actors, had shied away from television for the past 20 years, with one exception: a guest stint in 2004 on the NBC/WBTV veteran medical drama ER, which Wells oversees as executive producer. The episode, "Time of Death," was directed by Chulack.
Model-turned-actor Jason Shaw has inked a one-year talent holding deal with Warner Bros. TV-based John Wells Prods. Shaw grabbed the attention of Wells and JWP executive vp Andrew Stearn this past development season with his starring role in Dark Shadows, the company's drama pilot for the WB Network. Shaw is the latest up-and-coming actor to land on JWP's talent roster. Last year, the company signed Franky G, who now toplines JWP/WBTV's new drama series for Fox Jonny Zero. Shaw, who appeared in two episodes of the WB's Charmed this past season, did a stint as a correspondent for E! Entertainment Television. He is repped by Innovative Artists and manager Joannie Burstein.

David Schwimmer has come on board to direct and executive produce and Kal Penn and Judy Greer have been tapped to star in NBC's comedy pilot Nevermind Nirvana, while Emmy winner Kim Delaney is in final negotiations to star in CBS' drama pilot Sudbury. Meanwhile, Lauren Holly has joined CBS' untitled bounty hunters drama pilot, Bill Pullman is in negotiations and Natascha McElhone is set to star in NBC's two-hour pilot Revelations, and GQ has been cast to star opposite Franky G in John Wells' drama pilot Johnny Zero for Fox. Nevermind Nirvana, from NBC Studios and the Untitled Burke/Tarses Project, centers on an East Indian guy (Penn) and his Caucasian fiancee (Greer), who deal with the guy's family.
Mimi Leder has signed on to direct and executive produce the Fox Broadcasting Co. drama pilot Johnny Zero, from John Wells Prods. and Warner Bros. TV. The project stars Franky G as an ex-con who is struggling to go straight while establishing himself as a private investigator. Leder most recently executive produced the Fox drama series John Doe, which aired in the 2002-03 season. She has also worked closely with John Wells over the years on NBC's ER, among other projects. Among Leder's recent feature directorial credits are 1999's Sentimental Journey and 2000's Pay It Forward. She has two upcoming projects in the works, Smoke & Mirrors and Void Moon. Leder is repped by CAA.

John Wells is in talks to set up a drama project at Fox Broadcasting Co. Sources say John Wells Prods. and Warner Bros. TV are in the midst of hammering out a sizable commitment for a private-eye drama project to star Franky G., who recently inked a holding deal with JWP (HR 9/15). The project, dubbed Johnny Zero, is based on a screenplay by former New York detective Ken Sanzel (The Replacement Killers) that Wells and ER co-executive producer R. Scott Gemmill will rewrite for the pilot. The project is believed to be the first to land at Fox from JWP, home of NBC's ER, The West Wing and Third Watch. Reps for Fox, Warner Bros. TV and JWP declined comment on the matter, and sources stressed that there was no firm agreement yet between the network and studio. Franky G. most recently appeared in the Paramount feature The Italian Job.
