Besides the weekly cases that require the services of “The Irrational” hero Alec Mercer (Jesse L. Martin), the behavioral psychology expert is also trying to solve his own case: Who was responsible for the bombing several years ago that left him horribly scarred?
Monday night’s episode of the NBC procedural, “Dead Woman Walking,” in which Mercer figured out who poisoned an investigative journalist with polonium, ended with him remembering something vital from the night of the bombing, of which he has almost no memory. Using different scents combined with fire, he remembered the logo on the vehicle the bomber was driving.
Series director and producer Jesse Warn recently spoke with TheWrap about Mercer’s own mystery and why the show absolutely depends on the charm of the former “Flash” star.

Peacock, the home of the new slasher movie Sick and the upcoming Friday the 13th series “Crystal Lake,” has announced this week that they’ve cancelled “Vampire Academy,” a new series based on Richelle Mead’s line of same-titled books. The drama-horror series had only opened up for business this past September, and it’s gotten the axe after just one season.
Deadline explains, “Deadline understands that execs at Peacock were happy with both shows creatively but they just didn’t find the requisite audience to justify further seasons.”
Here’s the synopsis for the series: “In a world of privilege and glamour, two young women’s friendship transcends their strikingly different classes as they prepare to complete their education and enter vampire society. One as a powerful Royal, the other a half-vampire Guardian trained to protect against the savage ‘Strigoi’ who threaten to tear their society apart.

Supergirl becomes the third Arrowverse series to reach its 100th episode this weekend. And as is typical when a show hits this milestone, it’ll celebrate with a special outing that’ll both get nostalgic for what’s already happened and look ahead to what’s to come. Titled “It’s a Super Life,” this It’s a Wonderful Life takeoff will see Mister Mxyzptlk return and offer the Girl of Steel the chance to see how her life could’ve been had she made different choices. Specifically, three former stars of the show will be making a comeback for the hour.
Titled “It’s a Super Life,” you probably don’t need me to tell you that the episode will be a take-off on It’s a Wonderful Life, with Mr. Mxyzptlk returning to National City – with a new face, as Thomas Lennon is replacing season 2’s Peter Gadiot – to give Kara an offer she can’t refuse. And that offer is to go back in time and see if she can fix the mistakes of her past, including telling Lena Luthor her secret before Lex did and ruined their friendship.

Following Arrow and The Flash, Supergirl becomes the third Arrowverse series to hit 100 episodes next weekend, with the very special “It’s a Super Life.” As the title makes clear, the milestone installment of season 5 will draw inspiration from It’s a Wonderful Life, with a regenerated Mister Mxyzptlk allowing Kara the chance to view how her life could’ve gone if she had made different choices.
In other words, this is a way for the show to take a nostalgic look back at the Girl of Steel’s journey over the past five years, as well as getting a few old faces back for the occasion. It’s been confirmed that Odette Annable and Sam Witwer will be reprising their roles as Reign and Agent Liberty, but the main returning star of the week is Chris Wood as Mon-El. After such a lengthy summer hiatus, it’s exciting to think that most series making up the Arrowverse will return for their new seasons in just a matter of weeks. As it turns out, Supergirl will actually be among the first to debut. That said, let’s not waste any more time before talking about what’s to come.
With kickoff time being so close, the network has been quite generous with dropping promo materials online in recent weeks. In addition to new photos taken from the premiere and a cool poster, there was also that brief trailer released over the weekend. And if you’re in need of catching up, the season 4 Blu-ray set is now available in stores as well.
This time around, we’ve been gifted with the official synopsis for “Event Horizon,” which we’ll get to right now:

If you checked out last fall’s “Elseworlds” crossover, then you may agree with me in saying it was probably the Arrowverse’s best prime time mashup to date. Of course, it’s entirely possible for the event to be outdone by “Crisis on Infinite Earths” later this year, but let’s not take anything away from this ambitious story arc in the meantime.
By now, I imagine that a percentage of those reading this article have already begun reliving the most recent seasons of DC TV on Netflix, while others may be viewing it for the first time. After all, a sizable chunk of the fanbase waits around until they can binge-watch seasons in full.
As such, we’re about to let you know how to properly experience “Elseworlds.”

Spoiler Alert: This article contains key details about tonight’s Season 4 finale of Supergirl on The CW.
The Season 4 finale of Supergirl packed quite a punch tonight as Melissa Benoist’s Girl of Steel finally squared off against Lex Luthor, the malevolent mastermind of Metropolis as played here by returning guest star Jon Cryer with condescending sneer and big-brain brio. The returning guest star had hinted in recent days that the finale would not only reveal the staggering breadth of Luthor’s evil plans but also illuminate the true depths of his hatred for Superman, Supergirl and all things Kryptonian. The episode, “The Quest for Peace,” (directed by Jesse Warn off a script by Rob Wright & Derek Simon) certainly delivered on that front. “He’s evil, I knew that, you knew that, but I was surprised at how far he takes it with his plans.”

Even though Supergirl has rightfully placed much of the focus on the titular character herself, I can’t help admitting that it’s gifted us with what have arguably been some of the best interpretations of Superman and Lex Luthor in live action. In my view, Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel radiates the good-heartedness and wisdom the icon is known for, while Jon Cryer is downright diabolical and perfect as his archenemy. I’d go as far to say that Cryer is the second best Lex ever, right behind Smallville‘s Michael Rosenbaum.
Of course, we’ve learned of the storied history shared between the Arrowverse’s Superman and Lex Luthor, but we’ve never actually seen them in the same room. While speaking at Fan Expo Dallas though, Tyler Hoechlin stated that he’d very much like to remedy that situation if given the opportunity:

Much like the comic books that spawned it, the Arrowverse hasn’t shied away from the multiverse concept. In fact, it’s allowed for us to meet alternate versions of our favorite DC characters, not to mention making it possible for Earth-1 heroes like Green Arrow and the Flash to team up with Earth-38’s Supergirl – even in the days when her home was internally referred to as “Earth-CBS.”
Interestingly enough, Batman has been name-dropped or hinted at on both Arrow and Supergirl, forcing us to think he exists in both universes. Hey, if we’ve met more than one version of Oliver Queen, then there’d have to be more than one Bruce Wayne, right?
Well, tonight’s installment of “Elseworlds” confirmed our suspicion during a conversation involving Kate Kane and Kara Danvers. Already, we knew of a Batman existing at some point on Earth-1 because, well, that...

Though we still have one more chapter to go in what’s proving to be one hell of a memorable crossover event, tonight’s installment of “Elseworlds” could very well go down as the most unforgettable segment. Granted, it was cool to see the heroes of the Arrowverse doing their thing once again, but it’s Ruby Rose’s Batwoman who made the lasting impression.
In short, Gotham City’s new protector showed up in style – and I’m already psyched for her to get her own series. I mean, not only did Rose pull off the character as I’d imagine her to be in live action – and, apparently, a lot of people are in agreement – but she brought more Easter eggs than you could shake an issue of Detective Comics at along for the ride.
From the look of it, we’ve seen the last of Batwoman for...

Now that the first and second parts of the “Elseworlds” crossover epic are behind us, it’s not too much of a stretch to say that this might go down as the Arrowverse’s best mega event to date. True, it faces stiff competition in what came before – especially “Crisis on Earth-x” – but there’s been so much fan service delivered and more than enough exhilarating moments that people just can’t stop talking about.
This year’s mashup is a bit more personal due to Oliver Queen and Barry Allen trading places as Green Arrow and the Flash, but that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been room for the other heroes. Supergirl and Superman have both been involved, of course, and so has a brand new hero: Ruby Rose’s Batwoman. Yes, The CW finally introduced Kate Kane into the Arrowverse and after having made her big debut tonight,...

The CW has released a new full trailer for the highly anticipated Arrowverse “Elseworlds” crossover event, and it offers fans an even better look at what is in store for the series! This next crossover series is kind of bonkers, and I’m really digging it!
The promo features some more new footage of The Flash (Stephen Amell) and Green Arrow (Grant Gustin) trying to navigate the unfamiliar lives they’ve been swapped into. We also see more of Batwoman (Ruby Rose), The Monitor (Lamonica Garrett), and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin).
In the series, The Flash and Green Arrow will find themselves going up against Doctor John Deegan (Jeremy Davis), who has the "Godlike" ability to reshape reality by The Monitor. This seems to pave the way for the introduction of a villainous version of Superman who is wearing a black suit.

We’re now just a week and a half away from the TV event of the year for DC fans – the Arrowverse’s annual crossover! This time, The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl will come together to form the three-night spectacular “Elseworlds,” which promises to be stuffed full of heroes, villains, iconic DC locations and plenty more.
We’ve been able to work out a lot about the crossover from set photos and the various promos, but now we have official synopses for each episode which spell out how the reality-warping plot will progress. And it all kicks off with “Elseworlds: Part One” Aka The Flash season 5, episode 9:

Epic Elseworlds Crossover Kicks Off Tonight — When Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Oliver Queen (guest star Stephen Amell) wake up one morning and realize they have swapped bodies with each other,...

If you’ve been on the Supergirl bandwagon for some time, then you no doubt remember how its first season showed Superman only in silhouette, or gave glimpses of his boots while the rest of his figure lied off camera. Fortunately, Tyler Hoechlin suited up as the Last Son of Krypton at the top of the show’s sophomore year, thus forcing us all to stop rolling our eyes whenever the character made a “cameo.”
On the downside, that iteration of Big Blue hasn’t been seen since season 2’s finale, but our attention was grabbed when word got out that an upcoming episode for this fall had been titled “Man of Steel,” as everyone naturally assumed that’d serve as his return.
Well, in reality, that title’s been bestowed in an ironic sense, for the newest big bad, Agent Liberty, will be the focus of said installment instead.

Whenever anything concerning Kevin Smith’s return to the Arrowverse is discussed, it’s understandable that people start paying attention. In addition to being a known DC superfan and having already written a number of comic books himself, Smith’s directed several well-received episodes of The Flash and Supergirl in the past few years.
So, while we wait for Kevin to helm an episode of Arrow, odds are that you’ll be excited nonetheless to learn of how he’s booked a return trip to National City for the fall. In fact, a recent Tweet he shared contained a picture letting us know that production on his latest contribution to the series began this week.
As you can see below, Smith has once again been given the honor of overseeing an episode of Supergirl, and since it’s shooting right now, there’s a good chance it’ll air right before the “Elseworlds” crossover arrives.

If assuring that viewers will accept another night of The CW’s primetime lineup into their lives by moving Supergirl to Sundays was the network’s intention, then I’m guessing they’ll succeed in that regard. After already captivating audiences for its three previous seasons, the series showcasing the adventures of Kara Zor-El should help launch this new initiative – and give the upcoming Charmed reboot, which’ll follow in the 9 pm slot, a boost in the process.
Though it took its sweet time getting here, we finally have a synopsis for season 4’s premiere. Granted, a new trailer and a fair amount of photos hit the web earlier this month, but descriptions are usually released three weeks ahead of time.
Impatience notwithstanding, here’s what to expect from “American Alien,” which has been named for one of the better Superman comics to have graced this decade:

When it comes to the Arrowverse, I guess Supergirl gets bonus points for being the first to arrive and the last to leave this season. Having been forced to endure a lengthy hiatus that lasted for a couple months, the Girl of Steel’s series will soon serve up the finale to its third season in a matter of days, something we’re not used to seeing from DC shows on average in June. But hey, at least it gives us some new content to enjoy for this month!
Speaking of which, the network has been rather generous when it comes to offering teasers for the ominously titled “Battles Lost and Won.” And as you can see in the accompanying gallery, Selena has put her plan into action, thus creating much destruction on the streets of National City.

"However, to stop Reign once and for all, Kara may be forced to make an impossible decision that would go against everything she has ever believed in, in an epic battle for Earth..."

Whenever a season of television winds down, it’s not uncommon for networks to either release an incredibly vague synopsis, or to hold off a little longer than usual until the show in question reveals a particular plot point. Though one could say that today’s example pertaining to Supergirl shows characteristics of both, it’s more so the latter.
What most likely led to radio silence in this case was this past Monday’s reveal that the city of Argo survived Krypton’s destruction – as did Kara’s mother, Alura, and Serena, whose A.I. construct had been a mentor of sorts to Reign.
Based on the synopsis for the ominously titled season finale, “Battles Lost and Won,” we can only assume that Serena is, in fact, the true main villain:

Kara Danvers has been facing her toughest threat ever this year in the form of Reign (who’s really Samantha Arias), the genetically-modified Kryptonian villain known as a Worldkiller. But things will only get worse as the next episode of Supergirl season 3 will see the Girl of Steel face off against another Worldkiller.
In episode thirteen, titled “Both Sides Now,” Kara and the Deo capture another Kryptonian nasty known as Purity (Krys Marshall). However, things don’t go to plan and the villain escapes into National City’s subway. It looks like a tense battle between Purity and Supergirl then takes place – with the former even managing to trap our heroine in a headlock. Will Alex and Mon-El be able to help the situation, or can Kara get herself out of trouble?
