This article contains spoilers for Sex and the City.
Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) relationship with John James Preston a.k.a. Mr. Big (Chris Noth) on Sex and the City has long been a divisive one. There are many who (rightfully) believe that Carrie never deserved Big, and that his inability to commit should have been a massive red flag from the beginning. There are others who believe that Big and Carrie are soulmates and he’s the only logical endgame for her. I would argue that both takes are partially right, Big and Carrie are perfect for each other, but not in a good way.
Big and Carrie are both terrible about sending mixed signals to each other. Big is clear that he doesn’t want to get married again when he first starts dating Carrie, but then turns right around and marries Natasha (Bridget Moynahan) not long after their first breakup.

Hollywood isn't investing nearly as much in straight-up comedies as they used to. While 2023 saw many of the best comedies of the year come from the indie and arthouse world. "Barbie" was a big winner last year, but that's a blockbuster doing a lot more heavy-lifting than just bringing laughs, with an adventure fueled by one of the most recognizable intellectual properties of all time. "No Hard Feelings" and "Anyone But You" brought some raunchy, romantic laughs to the proceedings, and we were certainly grateful that Jennifer Lawrence and Sydney Sweeney took risks as producers on R-rated studio comedies like that. Otherwise, most of the laughs come from cross-genre comedy hybrids that have bigger box office potential because of a high-concept story that just so happens to bring some hilarity, such as "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" or "Cocaine Bear."
So how is comedy shaping up in 2024? Unfortunately, with some worrisome box office potential,...

Everybody loves a bad boy (or girl), and our favorite television heroes and heroines are no exception.
We love the idea of finding the humanity within the monster, even when the title of "monster" isn't quite so metaphorical.
When these characters see a supernatural hottie with a dark side and a heart of gold, they can't help but fall in love with the monster even if every ounce of their being says to run the other way.
So, here are a few of the scary good monster romances that have given wings to the unexpected over the years.
1. Elena and Damon/Stefan - The Vampire Diaries Vampire romances are some of the most classic forms of monster romance on television. And both Damon as well as Stefan fit the bill of monstrous at one point or another throughout the show. But with those fab abs, we can't quite blame Elena for loving either of them.

Creeslough Duo Speak to Lisa Gallagher about last year's Creeslough tragedy on the Soul Brew Podcast
The 7th of October 2022 will be a day that nobody from Creeslough and the greater area will ever forget when an explosion occurred and tragically claimed the lives of ten people. Soul Brew Podcast hosts Aidan Hunter and Stephen Doak, who are from Creeslough, are joined by Lisa Gallagher, sister of Jessica Gallagher who passed away that day, on their latest episode “Creeslough One Year On”. Firstly Lisa opens up about her experience and memory of that day and how events unfolded. Lisa then speaks about some of the tougher moments and calls for the public and journalists to be as empathetic as possible to those suffering in such situations.
Lisa and the lads then discuss the impact on the people of Creeslough as a whole and how the community spirit has shown through in the most difficult of times. She described how it wasn't until six months later that...

In recent years, Sarah Jessica Parker has found herself at the center of a seemingly never-ending debate about how women age in the public eye. Whether it was legitimate questions about ageism in “And Just Like That” or far less legitimate critiques of her own face, Parker has taken hit after hit—and has remained a stunning, brilliant woman in her 50s while doing so.
While speaking to Allure’s Dianna Mazzone about aging, she said simply, “My face is my face. It is what it is.”
Parker, who has been celebrated as a cultural and style icon for decades, elaborated on her own experience living and working on big and small screens for years — and how her appearance has been studied and examined for most of that time. While many women working in a public-facing position (and many women who are not) have had to contend with how others...

In the final moments of And Just Like That…, Carrie Bradshaw became a pet owner when she adopted a kitten left in her apartment by Che Diaz. While most of the pets involved in TV shows are trained animal actors, apparently, the kitten that Carrie named Shoe was not. The adorable cat is Parker’s very own, and they live a very happy life at the Parker-Broderick residence while And Just Like That… is on hiatus.

Manhattan served as something of a fifth main character in Sex and the City. The city provided the perfect backdrop for Carrie Bradshaw and her pals to shop, eat, and find eligible bachelors. For most of the show’s six-season run, the girls rarely ventured off the island. Still, it did happen occasionally. We’ve collected all the times the ladies of Sex and the City found themselves as fish out of water while away from Manhattan.
The group traveled to California more than once
Carrie and her pals were pretty attached to the East Coast, but that doesn’t mean they never left. The group traveled to California in season 3 of Sex and the City. In a two-episode story arc, Carrie leaves New York to meet with a film executive to discuss potentially optioning her columns.

And just like that, everyone is talking about “Sex and the City” again.
The finale of the second season of “And Just Like That” debuted Thursday — featuring a Samantha (Kim Cattrall) cameo! — and it was…fun? Moving? Not as deranged as the first season!? My colleague Ben Travers reviewed the finale here, but with the news that the show, Max’s No. 1 original, would indeed be returning for a third season we got to thinking about how the show can continue on its sudden upward swing.
The last few episodes of Season 2 have shown some promising signs of life. So members of the IndieWire brain trust who have consumed all 21 episodes of this compelling chaos train couldn’t help but wonder: What one change would drastically improve the show for Season 3?
For myself, the answer is easy: It’s time to get rid of Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez). The internet...

And Just Like That is the third reboot of the HBO cult classic show Sex and the City, which pushed the boundaries of stories and topics regarding the kind of relationships that were never discussed on television before. The original received cult status amongst many for presenting the stories of four financially independent women who lived life by their own rules in New York City and never let a man question any of their decisions. One of them is Carrie Bradshaw, who seems to have stumbled a lot on her journey to find the perfect partner. Decades later, And Just Like That begins with Carrie still married to John and living in New York. The central character’s arc from here on spans seasons one and two.
The first season begins with Carrie losing John to a heart attack. The grief had not hit her yet, but she was surrounded...

And just like that… another chaotic, traumatizing, and strangely addictive season of And Just Like That… has come to an end. The finale of And Just Like That… season 2 was much like the rest of the season, heavily debated. When the season came to a close, Carrie Bradshaw and Aidan Shaw put their romance back on hold while Aidan dealt with his son, Wyatt. Fans have spent the days since the finale debating whether Aidan was right to ask Carrie to hang out for five years and whether Carrie should have accepted the bizarre condition. While both are great questions, we prefer to look back at the good moments in the couple’s rekindled relationship. More specifically, we hunted for all the Easter eggs that called back to the couple’s first and second go-arounds in Sex and the City. These are our three favorites.

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t seen the season 2 finale of “And Just Like That”, proceed with caution.
And we couldn’t help but wonder, what exactly is going on in Manhattan? The season 2 finale of the “Sex and the City” reboot, “And Just Like That”, was more vague and open-ended than Anthony’s Italian boyfriend’s poetry career.
It started off on a good note with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) taking a delightful phone call from her former bestie, Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall). The previously teased exchange was light and fun, with a little reference to a past “Sex and the City” bit.
Things were on the upswing as a hungover Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis) informed her husband, Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler), that he was not, in fact, doing the most but rather the “bare minimum” in an epic soft-spoken feminist monologue to rival that of America Ferrera in the “Barbie” movie.

“The Mary Tyler Moore Show” gave way to “Rhoda”; “Cheers” eventually brought us “Frasier.” Could the legacy of “And Just Like That” be the London-set dramedy “Samantha”?
Yes, it’s unlikely; a potential spinoff based on the ongoing adventures of Kim Cattrall’s character from “And Just Like That” and “Sex and the City” necessitates the participation of, well, Cattrall, who’s been very clear that her cameo on the “Ajlt” finale was a once-ever thing. But that cameo, too, once seemed unlikely-to-impossible, given the haze of bad feeling between Cattrall and her former castmates. And on “Samantha,” just like Frasier in Seattle, she’d get to make a whole new set of friends!
I’m being facetious, but only a little. I agree with my colleague Alison Herman that Samantha’s cameo was electric, and I’d go further: It provided a much-needed jolt for an episode of television that at times felt lugubrious.

The second season of the series ended on a bittersweet note. There was still a ray of hope that the makers added so that we could come back to the next season with some optimism. We collectively agree that the second season of the show was better than the first one. The arcs given to most of the lead characters were far better than their narratives in the previous season. Now that the network and the producers have announced that And Just Like That has been renewed for a third season, we would like to speculate on the narratives of several characters we wish to see in the next installment.
The second season ended with Carrie and Aidan deciding to put a five-year hold on their relationship. Aidan wants to focus on his teenage son, Wyatt. For that, he will have to stay incommunicado with Carrie. It seems a bit...

All hail our queen, Kim Cattrall, rumored to have milked an eye-watering one million dollars out of fewer than two minutes of screentime.
Cattrall’s much-touted appearance in And Just Like That’s second season finale was doomed from the start, an obvious (and commendable!) cash-grab from an actor who understands her worth and knows precisely how to play her leverage. That Cattrall allegedly refused to have contact with her former Sex and the City castmates during filming — reportedly because she was denied equal pay to star in the sequel series — merely foretold that any cameo of her playing her iconic Satc ballbuster would be dead-on-arrival. No chemistry, no staying power. Indeed the TV equivalent of Harry Goldenblatt’s dry orgasm, the return of Samantha Jones turned out to be a whole lot of media-hyped foreplay followed up by a blink-and-you-miss-it flash of empty joy. “And just like that … I ordered two more Cosmopolitans” — that’s Carrie Bradshaw’s last line, delivered in her signature voiceover, in the Season 2 finale of “And Just Like That.”
Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) delivers that proclamation as she relaxes on a beautiful beach, alongside her friend Seema (Sarita Choudhury). “We ran at love,” Seema says earlier in the scene. “And where did that get us?” Carrie answers simply, “Greece.”
Both women have fallen in love during the second season of the “Sex and the City” revival, and for now, are seemingly at peace with the challenges ahead of them. Carrie has accepted that Aidan (John Corbett) — her old love, now renewed — needs to be home in Virginia for his kids for the next five years.

Developed by Michael Patrick King, the Max original takes place 11 years after the “Sex and the City 2” movie. Instead of following four friends in their 30s, the spinoff follows three of the main friends in their 50s as they navigate friendship, careers, new romances and the complicated rules of dating later in life.
TheWrap already broke down Kim Cattrall’s return as Samantha Jones. But if you’re curious how the season ended for everyone else, here’s what you need to know.

‘And Just Like That’ Season 2 Embraces Chaos and Forsakes Sanity in an Encouraging Finale — Spoilers
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “And Just Like That” Season 2, Episode 11, “The Last Supper Part 2: Entrée.”]
“If you feel love, run after it.”
Carrie’s latest personal credo doesn’t just linger over the Season 2 finale; it’s spoken aloud to kick off the episode. In case viewers forgot how head over Manolo Blahnik heels our former Shoe Gal is for Aidan (John Corbett), episode writer and director Michael Patrick King features Carrie’s words of advice in the introductory “last time on…” montage. (Wisely left out: Aidan’s egregiously weepy phone call about his hospitalized son.) Fresh off the death of her first husband, Carrie is strapping on her most supportive flats and sprinting after whatever brings her joy. A five-bedroom apartment valued at the Gdp of Albania? She buys it. A teense kitten sure to destroy her Sjp-brand wallpaper (not to mention the cat’s namesake: all of Carrie’s shoes)? She adopts it.

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points from the Season 2 finale of Max’s And Just Like That…
And Just Like That… Samantha Jones is back and even though Kim Cattrall wasn’t there in person to interact with Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw, fans will certainly be elated to see the beloved character return.
Michael Patrick King must’ve known how anxious viewers would be for the reunion that he didn’t make us wait very long at all to see her. Just three minutes into the episode, Carrie returns to her classic NY Brownstown to make the final preparations for her “The Last Supper” dinner party to celebrate new beginnings and of course, one big ending. Carrie has really sold off her apartment this time and will be moving to a bigger place to make space for Aidan (John Corbett) and his 3 boys should they ever want to come stay.

Spoiler Alert: This column contains spoilers from “The Last Supper Part Two: Entrée,” the Season 2 finale of “And Just Like That,” now streaming on Max.
Before the second season of “And Just Like That” even premiered, we knew that Kim Cattrall would (briefly) return as her “Sex and the City” character Samantha Jones. The ratings rationale for bringing back such a beloved figure were obvious enough, but creatively, the move seemed oddly self-defeating. After an awkward start, the sequel series had finally started to establish its own identity. What was the point of reminding viewers what they were missing, let alone with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo featuring no other cast members?
But to my great surprise, Cattrall’s appearance in the 11th and final episode of Season 2 was both effective and, against all odds, organic. The two-part finale, titled “The Last Supper,” was all about saying goodbye and paying tribute...

The following story contains spoilers for "And Just Like That" season two.
"And Just Like That" just wrapped up its second season on Aug. 24, and one of its buzziest storylines was the highly anticipated return of John Corbett as Aidan Shaw.
In the original "Sex and the City," Aidan was one of Carrie's primary love interests, but the pair never could make it work long-term. Fans wondered if this would finally be their chance, or if Aidan's appearance would just end in more heartbreak for Carrie. Ahead, we're revisiting their long, complicated relationship history, and what went down in season two.
In What Episode Did Carrie and Aidan Meet?
Aidan is first introduced in the season three episode "No Ifs, Ands, or Butts." Carrie is relatively fresh off her most recent breakup with Big, who is now married to Natasha. As she tries to put herself back out there, Carrie meets Aidan,...

This post contains spoilers for the Season Two finale of “And Just Like That …,” which is now streaming on Max.
Can we talk, for a moment, about the guest list for the main event of “The Last Supper, Part Two: Entrée,” aka the finale of And Just Like That… Season Two?
As Carrie Bradshaw gathered together her nearest and dearest to say farewell to her beloved Upper East Side apartment, some of the attendees made perfect sense. Charlotte and Miranda were, of course, in attendance, Charlotte bringing along husband Harry.

There have been plenty of bombshells over the course of And Just Like That… so far. Big (Chris Noth) died. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Steve (David Eigenberg) divorced. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) sold her beloved apartment for Aidan (John Corbett). Charlotte (Kristin Davis) almost ate in a Chipotle. At this point, it seems like anything can happen, and that has fans cooking up some theories, some of which are so bonkers that they just might be right.

Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic brownstone unit was the envy of every Sex and the City fan in the 1990s. It became so iconic that the unit was basically an additional cast member. In the most recent episode of And Just Like That…, Carrie said goodbye to her East 73rd Street pad, presumably for good this time, and we’d be lying if we said it didn’t make us a little bit sad. Let’s look at all the apartments Carrie’s lived in. Despite her studio’s importance to the overall show, she’s lived in several spots.
Carrie’s Brownstone apartment is iconic
Carrie briefly lived in an apartment above a store in the pilot of Sex and the City, but by episode two, she was living in her iconic brownstone apartment. Because the pilot apartment is never mentioned, we don’t count it as an official home for Carrie Bradshaw.

The ninth episode of And Just Like That Season 2 ended with Carrie finally purchasing a bigger apartment for herself and Aidan. Since it is a brand-new place, they can both make new memories there. She would also want his kids to visit them as often as they could. Lisa lets Herbert know that she is pregnant, and listening to the news, he gets excited about it. Regarding the Lily-Brady situation, the mothers stopped speculating about it, especially Charlotte, because she wants to give her daughter the space to just be herself. It was the first time Charlotte acted more mature than Miranda.

Gore Verbinski’s The Ring led the first wave of early 2000s horror remakes that partially defined the era’s landscape alongside Saw torture-porners and other reactionary post-9/11 subgenres. Granted, remakes have always been a foundational pillar that keeps horror reinventing itself decade after decade — but the 2000s were different. Production companies like Platinum Dunes and Dark Castle Entertainment fixated on updating horror favorites from iconic slashers to Vincent Price oldies, banking on nostalgia as an added profitability measure. It’s curious though, because 2003’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and others get referenced when conversations think back to what started The Great 2000s Remake Avalanche — The Ring somewhat forgotten in these terms.
That could be because The Ring is based on Hideo Nakata’s Japanese adaptation Ringu (aka Ring), an international ghost story less popular with domestic audiences whose first introduction to Koji Suzuki’s 1991 novel was Verbinski’s Americanization.

It’s unclear what Aidan’s (John Corbett) ex-wife Kathy’s (Rosemarie DeWitt) intentions are when she calls Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) to have coffee in And Just Like That…’s "There Goes the Neighborhood." Is there finally going to be a confrontation about that kiss in Abu Dhabi 13 years ago? Does Kathy want Aidan back? Based on how over-the-top much of Ajlt has been so far, something dramatic seems likely to happen as a result of this call.

And just like that, Sex and the City fans finally laid eyes on the woman Aidan Shaw married. Kathy, Aidan’s ex-wife, appeared for the first time in “There Goes the Neighborhood,” the most recent episode of the iconic series’ reboot. While Kathy is brand new to the series, the actor who played her has an interesting connection to the original Sex and the City. Rosemarie DeWitt portrayed Kathy. The actor, best known for her work in La La Land and The Staircase, is married to one of Carrie Bradshaw’s failed love interests.

Carrie Bradshaw’s renewed relationship with Aidan Shaw in recent episodes of And Just Like That… has been met with mixed reviews. Sex and the City fans have been sounding off since Carrie jumped right back into a serious romance with the former furniture designer. Some viewers are suggesting Carrie is acting out of character.
