The BBC has greenlit three science programs including a series in which Brian Cox heads inside the mission to Mars. In Arrow Media’s Seven Days on Mars feature doc, the celebrated TV scientist will be granted special privilege to access the Nasa Jet Propulsion Laboratory, mission control Mars. In 1980 he wrote to the laboratory asking for photos from Voyager and the Viking Mission to Mars and it was a source of inspiration to his becoming a physicist, and the show, shot over a week, will allow Cox to realize his dream as he navigates the Rover’s every move. Discovery has come on board as the global broadcast partner for Prince William’s The Earthshot Prize. The deal includes a five-part series featuring Prince William and David Attenborough, The Earthshot Prize: Repairing Our Planet, in early October and will culminate in the Earthshot Prize Ceremony on October 17.

CNN Films and BBC will take viewers inside the efforts of researchers around the world trying to develop and manufacture vaccines to fight the global coronavirus pandemic, in a documentary feature slated to air on CNN and BBC Two in the spring of 2021.

Global Health Reporting Center and Wingspan Productions retain rights outside of the U.K. and North America. Sanjay Gupta. The BBC and PBS are coming together to co-produce a wildlife show in which they build a waterhole in Tanzania’s Mwiba Wildlife Reserve and capture the creatures that drink from it in intimate detail.
The drinking pool will be the first in the world to be specially rigged with television cameras, as presenters Chris Packham and Ella Al-Shamahi aim to provide a unique perspective on Africa’s most iconic animals.
The three-part series, Waterhole (working title), will be made by the Natural History Unit. Roger Webb is the executive producer, with Anwar Mamon as series producer. It was commissioned by BBC Two controller Patrick Holland, Jack Bootle and Tom Coveney.
