Black alert! This article discusses spoilers for the latest episode of "Star Trek: Discovery."
There are two undeniable givens in the "Star Trek" universe: all Starfleet captains must accept the inevitability of encountering a no-win situation (aka the Kobayashi Maru test), and you never, ever violate General Order 1, aka the Prime Directive. While both are entrenched parts of franchise lore, the latter has always added a unique moral dilemma that transcends each captain and crew. For the technologically advanced societies that make up the backbone of the United Federation of Planets, there's nothing more detrimental than meddling with the development and evolution of pre-warp civilizations. Despite expectations for officers to treat this directive with the utmost seriousness, however, time and again "Trek" writers have sought to bend and even break the property's most unbreakable rule.
This week, "Star Trek: Discovery" all but jumped at the chance to completely upend established tradition in episode 6, titled "Whistlespeak.

Another Jenny Han adaptation has officially graced the small screen. “The Summer I Turned Pretty” began streaming Friday on Amazon Prime Video. It tells the story of a love triangle between three teenagers who have known each other practically their entire lives.
Belly (Lola Tung) has been in love with Conrad (Christopher Briney) for as long as she can remember. But this year, returning to Cousins Beach feels different, especially when she starts to realize she might have feelings for his brother Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). While the summer love radiating from the series is true to the first book, there are several additions to the series to shake things — particularly the Debutante Ball.

This summer is about to be one for the books. The first teaser for Prime Video’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty” adaptation is here.
The clip, which you can watch above, opens with Belly (played by Lola Tung) arriving at Cousins Beach for the summer. As the car pulls up the driveway, she says in a voiceover: “I thought this summer was going to be like all the other summers, but it’s not because I won’t let it be.”
She’s quickly reunited with her brother’s best friends, Conrad and Jeremiah, with whom she will soon become entangled in a love triangle.
The rest of the teaser features some tender (and some awkward) moments between the three of them as their feelings develop over that one summer. Oh, and did we mention that it’s set to the tune of a new Taylor Swift re-recording?
That’s right.

“Manifest” has been canceled at NBC after three seasons, Variety has confirmed.
The news comes as the supernatural drama has been released on Netflix, where it currently sits at No. 1 in the streamer’s U.S. Top 10. However, sources tell Variety that the show is hoping to find a new home elsewhere.
The single-camera series had generally produced favorable ratings, particularly in its first season, during which three additional episodes were added.
“Manifest,” produced by Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, was created by Jeff Rake and originally sold as a six-season plan. The series premiered in September 2018 and follows the crew and passengers of a commercial plane who suddenly reappear after being presumed dead for five years. As they reintegrate into society, the passengers discover that their family members and friends are not the same as before — and neither are they, as the begin to experience visions of the future,...
