“American Idol” continued with the 11th episode of Season 20 on Monday, April 11. This installment of the ABC reality TV competition saw judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie relinquish their power over to America. 12 of the Top 24 performed at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawaii. The other half performed on Sunday, April 10. Two singers with the lowest amount of votes from each night will be eliminated. Platinum Ticket winner Kenedi Anderson withdrew from the competition after singing “Human” by Christina Perri.
Pop star Bebe Rexha served as mentor for this second night of performances. So who was the best from Monday night? And did they step up their game since Hollywood Week performance? Below I rank each hopeful from the least impressive (but with room to grow) to a possible Season 20 frontrunner.

“American Idol” contestant Kenedi Anderson advanced to this season’s Top 24 and seemed poised to go all the way to the finale, so her announcement on Monday night that she is dropping out of the competition shocked viewers.
In an Instagram post, the 17-year-old wrote, “For personal reasons, I’m unable to continue on ‘American Idol.’ This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I know it’s necessary.”
She thanked the judges, producers, fellow contestants and fans who supported her during this “amazing opportunity.”
After her pre-taped Top 24 performance of Christina Perri’s “Human” on Sunday’s episode, host Ryan Seacrest explained why fans were unable to vote for her. “You might have noticed that there was no voting information during Kenedi’s performance just now. Since we taped these shows in Hawaii earlier, Kenedi has decided to withdraw from our show for personal reasons.

Platinum ticket winner 18-year-old Kenedi Anderson has dropped out of the 20th season of American Idol. The early frontrunner was one of three contestants to win the coveted platinum ticket which fast-tracks them past Hollywood Week.
Despite her audition receiving high praise from American Idol judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan (you can watch it below), Anderson left the competition after the Round of 24. The American Idol hopefuls packed their bags and headed to “Hollywood Week.” It’s there they were greeted by familiar faces from the show’s 20-year history who served as mentors. Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Lauren Alaina, Ruben Studdard, Chayce Beckham, Lee DeWyze, and Haley Reinhart met with contestants who prepared to hit the stage for the “Genre Challenge.” Each Idol hopeful was tasked to identify who they are as an artist, choosing from the indie-folk, pop, rock, R&b, soul, and country group. Is it too early to predict that we’ve already found the next American Idol? Because Sunday’s episode, just the second week of the show’s 20th season, definitely introduced at least two major contenders.
Let’s start with this week’s Platinum Ticket recipient, 17-year-old Kenedi Anderson, who blew Katy Perry’s mind with a piano-based reinvention of Lady Gaga’s “Applause.” The performance was heavily promo’d, but no truncated tease could have done it justice. Not only did Anderson completely reimagine the song in her own ethereal style, but her voice is absolutely insane and her instincts are spot on.
