Eminem's latest freestyle in the music video "Shady Cxvpher" is equal parts graphic and disturbing. And while that may not be anything new for the controversial rapper, his newest shocking war of words takes aim at none other than Lana Del Rey. The 42-year-old raps about punching the crooner in the face like Ray Rice—the NFL star who was terminated from the Baltimore Ravens after video footage showed him brutally assaulting his wife, Janay Palmer, in an Atlantic City elevator. The Grammy winner was also joined by Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5'9", Yelawolf, and Crooked I in the music video. Below are the lyrics where Eminem talks about the "West Coast"...

Eminem is back in the studio working on a new solo album. That's welcome news to fans of his solo work, as he had been primarily preoccupied with Slaughterhouse projects.
That supergroup featuring Joe Budden (man, remember "Pump It Up"?), Joell Ortiz, Royce da 5'9" and Crooked I, is releasing Welcome To: Our House on August 28th. The album is Slaughterhouse's second.
But Slim Shady told MTV and Shade 45's Sway that he's not going to rest for long. "I've actually kinda just started," he said. "I've been on the move a little bit too, so I've, in between things, [snuck] songs in here and there."
At a Thursday night concert in New York, he thanked his fans for helping him get through depression.
He also recently topped Rihanna and Lady Gaga to become the musician with the most Facebook fans (60 million) and lined up a feature on Pink's next album (yep,...

The 90s. It was the height of gangster rap.
It was the era that transformed the touchy rivalry between Bad Boy and Death Row Records, in particular The Notorious B.I.G. (Christopher Wallace) and Tupac Shakur, into what media deemed the East Coast vs. West Coast rap war. Two camps that dominated rap, with the best lyricists of the time, had turned communities – that never met – against each other. Tragically, the violence surrounding that rivalry would ultimately result in the untimely deaths of both Wallace and Shakur.
No track really brings the rivalry to life like “NY 87.” It was an unreleased song from 2Pac, featuring Tha Dogg Pound, the duo consisting of Kurupt and Daz. The fiery lyrics literally stab at the heart of some of the more prominent East Coast rappers of the time, such as: The Notorious B.I.G., Jeru the Damaja, Mobb Deep and A Tribe Called Quest. Regardless...

Don't you just hate when rappers flaunt their riches in the face of the less fortunate? Well that's just what Eminem and Slaughterhouse do in the quartet's new "My Life" video, except they make it all look really cool. The Syndrome-directed video, which dropped Wednesday (June 20), starts off with a rather lengthy skit featuring the super-rich Eminem thumbing his nose at the poor and lowly by skeet-shooting his platinum plaques, showing off his fleet of 300 Chrysler 300s and playing whack-a-mole with real-life baby seals. It's all part of a Robin Leach-inspired opening skit called "Rappers Are Richer Than You," and in the end, Slim Shady bathes in the tears of struggling MCs and gets fed grapes by his pet tyrannosaurus rex.It all sounds pretty farfetched,...

Hot 97's annual Summer Jam lineup just got a little shadier: On Thursday morning (May 24), Eminem phoned into the New York hip-hop radio station to announce that his group Slaughterhouse will join Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and 2 Chainz at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on June 3.
This will be the first time Slaughterhouse will perform at the all-star hip-hop throwdown, so what advice does Marshall have for Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and Royce da 5'9"? "Just be themselves," Eminem told Hot 97 and "Hip Hop Squares" host Peter Rosenberg. "I really feel like this group — hip-hop needs this, man, and I think people will see when this album comes out too."
King Mathers didn't hint at any surprise appearances. He is currently in the studio.

At its core, hip-hop is a competitive sport. Hit records are nice, but the greatest MCs are often defined by their wordplay.
Judging from fan reaction across Twitter, the highlight of Tuesday's 2011 Bet Hip Hop Awards were the nine different rhyme cipher segments, which showcased a total of 41 MCs all vying for rap supremacy. Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, B.o.B, Machine Gun Kelly, Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group and Eminem and his Shady 2.0 crew all contributed lethal bars to the program.
According to Slaughterhouse member Joe Budden, it was Marshall who reigned supreme in his round of rhyming. "We wasn't chumped, though," Budden told MTV News on the show's black carpet.

Kids grow up so quickly these days. First they're playing alongside Barney the purple dinosaur and singing with the Jonas Brothers. Then, with a blink of an eye, they're covering songs by rappers who served time in Rikers.
That's just what teen-popper Demi Lovato did during a Sept. 17 show at New York's famed Hammerstein Ballroom when she sang Lil Wayne's rap ballad "How to Love."
Lovato isn't the first singer to cover the tune that was released just a few short months ago. Tinashe, Pleasure P and Crooked I have all released versions of the song. And then there's the official remix with Enrique Iglesias.
Here's the video of Lovato's performance.

The impending debut of the third official single from Dr. Dre's third album was announced at the conclusion of last week's episode of Showtime's four-part documentary series. The show goes behind the scenes of the preparation for the welterweight championship bout between Pacquiao and Mosley on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Miami rapper Rick Ross tweeted that he will be accompanying Pacquiao to the ring on fight night.

Though Royce Da 5'9" is busy putting the finishing touches on his Bad Meets Evil Ep with Eminem, the Detroit Mc says that his upcoming group album with Slaughterhouse is still a priority.
"It's just something to set up Slaughterhouse anyway," Royce told MTV News about the Bad Meets Evil project. "That's our main focus right now, is Slaughterhouse and then we got Yelawolf. We're just trying to start a movement."
The group, which consists of Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and, of course, Royce, first formed in 2008 after appearing on a Budden track together. In 2009, the rap quartet dropped their self-titled debut album independently on E1 (formerly Koch) then signed to Eminem's Shady Records in December 2010. Since the high-profile signing,...

"He said, 'What's up? I'm Marshall,' " Yelawolf recalled to MTV News on Thursday's (March 10) "RapFix Live."
The meeting obviously went well: Yela is the latest recruit to Em's Shady Records empire, along with Slaughterhouse (Joe Budden, Crooked I, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da 5'9".)
Yela and Em talked in Detroit after producer Jim Jonsin and Eminem's manager urged the rapper to listen to the upstart's music. They shared similarities in their upbringing, and the partnership paid off immediately when the Grammy-winning superstar bestowed the young lyricist with advice, according to Yela.

Along with Alabama upstart Yelawolf, the Shady label boss inked Slaughterhouse — comprised of industry journeymen Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, Royce Da 5'9" and Crooked I — after rumors circulated for well over a year that the rap supergroup would be joining Em. Just hours earlier, he had been on the rooftop of the Ed Sullivan Theater for a taping of Jay-z's appearance on the "Late Show With David Letterman."
Decked out in jeans, a white T-shirt, black, zip-up hoodie and black military cap, Em hit the stage shortly after midnight with a burst of furious rhymes. The Shady One delivered a rapid succession of rhymes to Drake's "Over" before the DJ, the Alchemist,...

Eminem's music video in support of his new single "Not Afraid" has been made available for sneak peek through a short snippet which has the Slim Shady smashing some stuff. "The overall concept is basically just being in a dark place and trying to get to the light," he previously said in an interview with Skyrock FM in Paris.
The upcoming clip is directed by Rich Lee, the same man who worked on Black Eyed Peas' "Imma Be" and "Rock That Body" as well as Jesse McCartney's "How Do You Sleep" and The Pussycat Dolls' "Hush Hush". Eminem and his entourage were snapped filming the video on the streets of Newark, New Jersey in early May.
"Not Afraid" is the lead single of Eminem's upcoming effort "Recovery" which is slated to hit the U.S. market on June 22. The music video itself is going to be premiered in full on Saturday,...

It seems only fitting that a rapper named Bobby Digital would be involved in such a technologically resourceful video.
Wu-Tang Clan' s the RZA, a.k.a. Boggy Digital, is one of the MCs featured on the "2010 Wake Up Show Anthem," the follow-up to MTV News correspondent Sway and his "World Famous Wake Up Show" radio partner King Tech's groundbreaking "The Anthem." (The original Eminem-assisted track was released on the radio jocks' 1999 album This or That.) The brand-new clip debuts Sunday on MTV Jams.
The Wu founder spoke with Sway about the project, saying how amazed he was that the visual was completed via portable, flip-style video cameras.

With the release last year of his album Relapse, Eminem announced to the world that he was looking after himself and his music after a five-year hiatus. Now, as he puts the finishing touches on his follow-up, Recovery, the Detroit Mc says he plans to focus on his record label, Shady Records.
In an interview with BBC's Radio 1 on Friday (June 4), Eminem was asked about mentoring up-and-coming rappers, and Em admitted he'd been eying a few acts.
"We're kinda trying to start the process of rebuilding our label, Shady Records," he said. "I'm sure I'll be looking for younger talent, coming up. There's a new group we're looking to sign, Slaughterhouse," he said referring to the rap supergroup made up of Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and Royce da 5'9". "But I don't want to give anything away.

Behind the Beats: Serani
Serani may be best known for his breakout hit "No Games," but the emerging Jamaican artist first made a name for himself crafting songs for some of his homeland's biggest stars.
"I'm a musician from birth, I played the keys from birth," Serani said. "As time went on, when I became a teenager I was listening to Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Capleton and Sizzla. I would listen to the beats and thought, 'Why are they on some of these? They could do better.' And I knew I had the talent to do it."

Then radio personality/ journalist Miss Info shed a little light on the situation with a rumor she heard: "That Slaughterhouse appearance in 'Forever' was indeed a non-verbal announcement of the contract negotiations going on behind the scenes. Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and Royce Da 5'9" all have their own definitions.

When you ask the members of Slaughterhouse — Royce Da 5'9", Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I — what it means to be the Hottest Mc in the Game, you'll get four different opinions.
"There's so many different dimensions of a hot Mc," Ortiz said. "You gotta be able to do what you do in the booth. Be yourself in interviews. Be a great showman. Be an on-spot rap dude. You gotta have the complete package. If you do records well and get up onstage and you're looking at your shoes, you're not a hot Mc. You gotta have every element mastered. You gotta love the art."
Budden (who has ranked very high early on in our Hottest MCs fan poll) has a very gruff relationship with the word "hot.

King of country George Strait lands #1, and Neil Diamond takes #2.

Cobra Starship

Cobra Starship said they were hoping for superstardom with Hot Mess,, and thanks in part to their Leighton Meester-assisted first single, "Good Girls Go Bad," they appear to be on their way. The band's second album will debut at #4 on next week's Billboard 200 albums chart on sales of more than 42,000, by far their best chart performance ever.
The good news was only partially obscured by the gigantic hat atop the head of "King of Country" George Strait, who lands yet another #1 debut for his latest, Twang, which crushed the competition to lord over the charts thanks to sales of 155,000. He has some down-home company courtesy of country upstart Justin Moore, whose self-titled debut squeaks into the top 10 at #10 on sales of 34,000.

Please forgive us — no main pick on Monday, and now an abbreviated version of Don't Sleep.
Don't fret! We're going to be coming back so hard next week with Slaughterhouse. The four-man crew (Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and Royce Da 5'9") came through, and not only talked about their debut group LP in stores right now, but also weighed in our 2009 Hottest MCs in the Game list.
All four need to be included in the conversation, because of their ferocious lyricism and loyal following. But who do the fellas think should make the list besides themselves?
"I can't front — the young boy Drake is spitting," Joell Ortiz said. "I'm interested in seeing where he goes with his career. Just aside from singing, the dude can rap.
