Warning: You could be framed for something you didn't do at any given moment. Maybe even by your own government, whether intentionally or due to a misunderstanding. Will you know what to do if this happens? If not, Hollywood might be able to help, as “wrong man” scenarios have been around about as long as movies have existed, and a lot of them have involved conspiracies within government agencies. In “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” an enemy of the Joes', Zartan, has secretly taken over the White House disguised as the President of the United States. As Potus, he labels the Joes traitors and unleashes a military strike that wipes out almost the entire team. The survivors must then go up against Cobra while being at the top of America's Most Wanted list. Fortunately, Joes are trained for survival, and in this case knowing is even more than half the battle. So,...

Life is looking pretty rough for university dropout Jerry Shaw (Shia LeBeouf) in action thriller Eagle Eye (new out on DVD this week). His twin brother Ethan has just died and on top of that he’s being framed as a terrorist and has to go on the run, guided only by an anonymous caller who may or may not be helping him. Phew! It’s enough to make any sane young chap forgo his usual fashion conscious ways and simply sweat it up in any old rags – but not Jerry. Oh no, this being Hollywood and Shia LeBeouf being one of its brightest young stars, Jerry never compromises his cool and we like his brown blazer look so much that its weighing in as this week’s fashion fix.
We’ve recreated Jerry’s ensemble from a number of top online stores to help you steal his style secrets.

Hello and welcome to another dose of film fun Boxwishers. After the kick-ass action of Watchmen fortnight, we’re toning it down a bit this week. We’ve got four of the sunshine styles as worn by Jennifer Aniston in comedy/ drama Marley & Me that are just perfect for your summer wardrobe and all the gossip on how to get the sophisticated look of Julia Roberts and Clive Owen in saucy spy thriller Duplicity. But before all that, let’s check out some of the new DVD releases coming your way from today and it’s certainly a mixed bag of goodies certain to please all tastes. There’s period splendour, goofy comedy hijinks, non-stop chase action and fashionable women getting bitchy – what more could you ask for?

Action adventure movies work best when you have someone to root for or something to think about. Ideally, the movie offers both otherwise the action is mindless and the time in the theater wasted. Eagle Eye makes you think about the price of privacy as a government entity known as Aria uses every digital piece of data available to manipulate people into help it execute a program design to sever the Executive Branch of the government from the waking world.
The film focuses on the prime players, a slacker named Jerry Shaw (Shia Labeouf) and a thirtysomething paralegal Rachel Holloman (Michelle Monaghan) who are directed by a feminine voice to comply with orders or things would get bad for them. In Jerry’s case, he’s framed by Aria as a potential terrorist in the wake of his Air Force lieutenant twin’s death. For Rachel, her eight year old...

Chicago – “Eagle Eye,” the second collaboration between new star Shia Labeouf and director D.J. Caruso after the surprise success of “Disturbia,” isn’t nearly as successful a diversion, stretching the very concept of suspension of disbelief to the breaking point.
The Blu-Ray release matches the success of the film with solid video and audio and an entertaining set of special features, but the movie itself brings the entire package down.
With “Eagle Eye,” writers John Glenn & Travis Adam Wright and Hilary Seitz and Dan McDermott (it took four people to write this thing?) attempt to turn modern-day paranoia about the intrusive nature of technology into an action adventure a la “Die Hard”. The set-up isn’t bad, but the film quickly dissolves into a barrage of unbelievable, unrealistic, and unenjoyable action sequences fueled by increasingly ridiculous plot twists.

Can you remember life before mobile phones? Maybe you’re too young to recall such a dark and uncivilized history or are so entrenched in the mobile way of life that you’ve blocked all earlier memories, but before the pocket-sized technology became everyone’s constant companions life was very different. Need an example? Look no further than the Hollywood chase movie. Once upon a time, guys on the run had to stop by pay phones effectively stopping the action and giving away niggly details such as their location to the chasing pack (Harrison Ford in The Fugitive springs to mind), yet in the modern era this kerfuffle can be avoided by having a mobile. Just look at Shia LeBeouf’s Jerry Shaw in Eagle Eye, suddenly on the run and at the mercy of a mysterious woman who calls him wherever he is. Good thing, he’s got a...

Eagle Eye
Starring Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan, and Billy Bob Thornton
Directed by D.J. Caruso
Rated PG-13
In 2007, Shia LaBeouf starred in a movie called Disturbia. It was a tightly-spun thriller directed by D.J. Caruso, and it was pretty clear to anyone with a history of watching movies that it was a remake of Alfred Hitchock's Rear Window. Over a year later, the estate that holds the copyright for Rear Window brought a lawsuit against the makers of Disturbia for just that reason.
A year later, LaBeouf has teamed up with Caruso in another thriller, spun much more loosely, called Eagle Eye. Though it isn't as obvious what its ancestors are, there are hints of War Games and 2001, probably some Enemy of the State, and also another Hitchcock-Jimmy Stewart movie, The Man Who Knew Too Much.
Jerry Shaw (LaBeouf) stays out of trouble. Well, big trouble, anyway. He lives modestly,...

Narrative Review Eagle Eye Directed by: D.J. Caruso Cast: Shia LeBouf, Michelle Monaghan, Billy-Bob Thornton Time: 1 hr 58 mins Rating: PG-13 Newly-minted Hollywood bad boy Shia Labeouf can add another action-packed feather to his cap. This week's high-octane release Eagle Eye may not feature the most original plot, but it secures Labeouf's place as one of young Hollywood's most promising action tickets. Following up on recent hits Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, as well as last year's Transformers, Labeouf re-teams with director D.J. Caruso (who also helmed 2007's Disturbia) for a newer, shallower and much more manic retelling of a story we've heard before (and will be hearing again). Labeouf plays Jerry Shaw, an average guy who hates...

Eagle Eye Directed by: D. J. Caruso Cast: Shia Labeouf, Michelle Monaghan, Billy Bob Thornton, Michael Chiklis, Rosario Dawson Time: 2 hours Rating: PG-13 Plot: Two strangers, Jerry Shaw (Labeouf) and Rachel Holloman (Monaghan) meet after receiving mysterious phone calls from a woman they have never met. Tracking them with everyday technology the caller threatens their lives and forces them to complete a series of tasks that turn them into fugitives on the run. The unlikely pair work together to discover what is happening and why they are involved. Who’s It For? If you enjoy fast action and chase scenes this one is for you. You'll appreciate it more if you can suspend rational thinking for a couple hours. Expectations: This reminds me of a couple movies I enjoyed like Enemy of the State and Live Free...

I’ll admit it. I have never been a Shia LaBeouf fan. Maybe it’s because of Transformers. Maybe his name annoys me. (I believe it means “praise beef”). I’ve just never been on the Shia bandwagon. (It also might be because I feel a little dirty saying that he’s hot, he is considerably younger than I.) Though I was disappointed by Eagle Eye, I may have to change my mind about him. I saw the first 30 minutes of Eagle Eye before San Diego Comic Con this year and it was completely action packed. From the moment we see Jerry Shaw (LaBeouf), a slacker from a wealthy family mourning the recent loss of his twin brother, walk into his apartment and find it full of explosives, the ride doesn’t stop. Jerry’s phone rings and a mysterious woman tells him to run. When he doesn’t, he...

When two people walk away from a high-speed car crash with nary a scratch on them, you know you're watching an action movie. When an innocent, ordinary citizen is suddenly thrust into the middle of a national security crisis, you know you're watching a paranoid conspiracy thriller. When both these conditions have been met, nothing makes much sense, and things go "boom!" every 8-10 minutes, you know you're watching Eagle Eye.
Re-teaming star Shia LaBeouf and director D.J. Caruso from last year's immensely popular, faux-Hitchcockian Disturbia, Eagle Eye, which had a special screening at Fantastic Fest with Caruso in attendance, might welcome comparisons to The Man Who Knew Too Much or The Wrong Man but is actually closer in spirit to The Net, Irwin Winkler's 1995 attempt to wrestle with identity theft and other perils of the information age. Two more clips from forthcoming drama thriller "Eagle Eye" have been unraveled. I've been hearing about a cool little viral game for the upcoming Eagle Eye film, but haven't had a chance to check it out until today. I decided to run through it and it was awesome - it's incredibly interactive and is a bit scary, as you'll soon see. If you know the premise of the film, where Jerry Shaw is being called and told to do things, this actually works the exact same way, but it involves you. Your phone is called and you must talk to various people, including a police officer, to avoid getting in trouble. The mysterious female voice will guide you along. A fresh clip from intense thriller "Eagle Eye" has been unearthed. The short new footage highlights on two major characters, Jerry Shaw played by Shia Labeouf and Thomas Morgan portrayed by Billy Bob Thornton, in a scene where Shaw tries to explain to the authoritative figure that he has been framed as terrorist, but his effort is met with serious threats from Morgan.
Returning home after his successful twin brother is mysteriously dead, Shaw is greeted with a suspicion of him being a member of a cell plotting to assassinate a politician. Still, he is not alone. Rachel Holloman, a single mother, has also been pulled into the similar situation. Now, together, they must find a way to prove their innocence and uncover the identity of the woman who seems to know their every move.
