Nobody can question San Diego's climate. With 201 days above 70 degrees each year, America's Finest City (it's official nickname) hosts more than 32 million visitors who annually pump an estimated eight billion dollars into the regional economy. And the locals have it good, too: S.D. has recently been named America's second best city to work, its ninth best place to buy a house and, for the thirsty, the third best beer town in America. But it's not all sunshine and smiles in SoCal. Where there's wealth, there's an underbelly. And that's...

Tired of the same old alternative crap? Get yourself right with this hard-charging Dublin-based punk rock trio of Mark Austin (Vocals, Guitar), cousin Shane Kinsella (drums), and Tom Cosgrave (bass). They invested in some serious vintage amplification, honed their skills playing every dingy basement and back alley bar in Ireland that would have them, and have cemented a reputation as gig-thirsty monsters with tunes to match their impressive swagger. Audience interaction resembling the energy of hand to hand combat became the trademark of their shows and won them support slots with Supergrass, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and The Von Bondies. Their self-titled Ep will released on February 14th via Model Citizen Records.

Daughtry unveiled a new song, the dramatic “Drown In You” today. The track is part of “Batman: Arkham City—The Album,” a soundtrack to the new Batman video game that also features music from Panic! At the Disco,” Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Duke Spirit. The tune is way more anguished than we usually hear from the “American Idol” vet and his bandmates. It’s Chris Daughtry singing to what sounds like an Evanescence track crossed with Adam Lambert. There’s lots of heavy guitars, thrashing guitars, and a screaming axe solo, as angst pours through every note. The narrative of the story...

When we first looked at the Batman: Arkham City Collector's Edition, there was the question regarding the game's soundtrack, which contained tracks from "hit artists." Well, Destructoid got the breakdown as to who these artists are and the list is…interesting. More after the break. The soundtrack, which will come as a free digital download for purchasers of Arkham City's Collector's Edition, is a veritable who's-who of bands who don't seem to have much of anything to do with Batman. Maybe it's because I'm an unbelievable square, but when I think Batman, I don't really think about bands like Daughtry, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Panic! At the Disco, and Coheed...

Here it is, the cover art for Batman: Arkham City – The Album from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, WaterTower Music and DC Entertainment. Artists featured on the video game inspired album include: Daughtry, Panic! At The Disco, Coheed and Cambria, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Looks pretty awesome and falls in line with most of the concept art we’ve seen for Batman: Arkham City. Regarding the musical inspiration Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez said, “I write in a very conceptual format with the stories that surround Coheed and Cambria, but Batman has a much larger, defined history and rules that go along with it. There are a lot of hot guys at the top of the music world. Justin Timberlake, Ricky Martin, Usher and the like dominate our pop culture landscape for both their talent and their good looks. But what about the bands that don't play the Super Bowl half time show or make the cover of Rolling Stone? Well, it turns out there is a whole underground world of hotness that most people haven't been exposed to yet. I feel obligated to bring these men to your attention!

Lots more sports tonight, and as I sit here gazing out at weather in the mid-80s (or high 20s for those of you who speak Celsius) I find myself wondering how it is that two 'winter' sports are still going strong. Basketball makes slightly more sense, because it's always been played indoors so it doesn't matter as much what time of year the games are played. But hockey? I don't doubt there are still places where you could have an outdoor ice rink around this time of year but not for much longer. Is there an explanation for this other than "the season starts later than it should to accommodate football" or is that it? Questions for the ages, for sure. Here's your Tuesday night TV:

Paula Deen, she of the feathered hair, love of butter, ham promotion, and a growing Food Network empire, is apparently kind of a fun chick to hang out with. This past weekend was the South Beach Food and Wine Festival which I completely ignored because I don't feel like spending upwards of $250 to watch celebrity "chefs" cook in front of large crowds of tipsy tourists. However, I found out today that Paula Deen's presentation featured lots of wine, and subsequently Ms.Deen herself licking cream off the abs of "Restaurant: Impossible" star and former Pajiba After Dark header boy Robert Irvine before deciding to ride him like a pony. After the antics of Charlie Sheen this past week, it's kind of nice to see a television personality getting tipsy and acting like a silly college girl rather than like an egotistic asshole with a rage problem. And, accordingly, Ms.

At one time or another La's western psyche posse, Spindrift, has been associated with just about every big psyche band from Austin to San Fransisco. Early players included members of Psychic TV, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Warlocks. Founding singer-songwriter, Kirpatrick Thomas, has close ties with Dead Meadow, The Dandy Warhols, and has toured with more bad ass stoned-out groups with the word black in their name (The Black Angels, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Black Mountain...) than you can shake a tambourine at.
"Theme from Confusion Range" is the first of several forthcoming music videos, each shot by a different independent director, for Spindrift's next album "Classic Soundtracks Vol. 1." Thomas, who takes many of his sonic cues from Ennio Morricone said, "the album is an homage to our love of film scoring and the medium which surrounds it."

When Sophia Bush and her "One Tree Hill" co-star Austin Nichols returned from their trip to Grand Isle after the Deepwater Horizon exploded and oil began to spill into the Gulf of Mexico, they found themselves disheartened... and then they turned that feeling into action.
"We couldn't get on the beaches, they threatened to arrest us, they wouldn't let anybody help with the cleanup, and they also wouldn't tell you where you could go to quote-unquote train to do cleanup," Bush tells Zap2it. "They were really trying to shut people out. There was sort of this overarching feeling of helplessness, like, how are any of us supposed to make a difference with this if we can't get our hands dirty, if we can't volunteer, you know?"
That helpless feeling subsided during a visit with Bush and Nichols' good friend singer/songwriter Amy Kuney. "My dear friend Amy came over,...

Along with familial vamps, engagements, and newborn war, there must be indie tuneage in Stephenie Meyer's cinematic world. Though the next Twilight film is currently plagued with contract negotiations and drama, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is still booking toward its June 30th release. We've seen the trailers and pictures, so now it's time for the songs. MySpace Music has been releasing the track list for the official soundtrack today -- one by one -- and now we've got the full rundown for you.
The first film's soundtrack features the likes of Muse, Linkin Park, Perry Farrell, and star Robert Pattinson. New Moon added to the mix with more Muse, and a bunch of bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Ok Go, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Of course, Muse leads the pack again -- one of Meyer's favorite bands -- with other songs that include "My Love" from Sia,...

Adam McKay issued a major downer for everyone excited to see "Anchorman 2" yesterday. Apparently Paramount isn't nearly as big a fan of the project as he is, as he indicated that they passed on the sequel, which is no good for the future of Ron Burgundy.
On a lighter note, lots of Twitter-Wood citizens seem to be enjoying Jon Favreau's "Iron Man 2." He got some props today from both Jimmy Fallon and Peter Serafinowicz. Their compliments are retweeted after the jump along with Olivia Wilde's favorite song to strip to and Dane Cook's sex tape advice. Welcome to an extra-sexy edition of Twitter-Wood for April 30, 2010.

Muse rumored to be included on soundtrack for third film in 'Twilight' series.

Attention "Twilight" lovers: If you've memorized every note of the "New Moon" soundtrack, you're in luck: On June 8, you'll be able to get your hands on the next soundtrack in the series, "Eclipse."
The release date was first posted Monday (April 19) morning on Amazon.com, and subsequently confirmed to MTV News by a spokesperson for Atlantic Records, which will be releasing the soundtrack in conjunction with music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas' Chop Shop Records.
No official announcement has been made about just who will be appearing on the soundtrack to "Eclipse" (the film itself hits theaters on June 30), but some reports on "Twilight" fansites have already penciled author Stephenie Meyer-faves Muse onto the album, which makes sense because they've already appeared on the first two editions of the "Twlight" soundtracks.
