Following his loss at WrestleMania Xl, Roman Reigns has reportedly taken a hiatus from the wrestling realm, and it seems that the former Universal Champion is now taking a step toward the silver screen glory. While he’s no stranger to making an impact on film, Reigns seems poised to make an even bigger splash with an undisclosed role in the upcoming film Good Fortune.
Roman Reigns
He is set to join a star-studded cast including Keanu Reeves, Keke Palmer, and Seth Rogen. While fans have had a glimpse at his potential character, the specifics of his role remain shrouded in mystery. Given his transformation into possibly the most significant heel of the modern era, one can assume how this impacts both his character and his potential in the film industry.

There is a very good reason why Dwayne Johnson, popularly known across the globe as The Rock, is one of the biggest and most commercially successful film stars in the world today. This mostly stems from most of his films targeted at the masses who just want a fun film to experience.
Therefore, he has naturally been sticking to entertaining the people as much as he can, which means almost no critically engaging performances or films that he’s been a part of.

But it seems like that might be changing soon in the future as the star prepares himself to dedicate his time and effort towards a passion project of his, titled The Smashing Machine with none other than A24. Since this production company is known to invest in and create critical masterpieces, The Rock could be looking at changing into new lanes in his career.

While playing the same character at different ages as his real-life son Wyatt Russell in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Kurt Russell admitted after watching Wyatt at work that he realized just how good of a performance his son was delivering, and he’d better bring his own A-game to match it.
Russell was joined on Deadline’s Contenders Television panel by VFX supervisor Sean Konrad and composer Leopold Ross to discuss the Apple TV+ and Legendary Television series – a prequel to the big-screen Monsterverse movies featuring Godzilla and King Kong. He said had the chance to take a good, long look at Wyatt’s acting chops while the two were shooting on parallel schedules.
“We were doing two different crews and I said, ‘I’m going to go check out and see Wyatt’s group was doing,’ ” Kurt recalled. “It was fascinating for me because for the first time, this...

Godzilla fans are eating really well right now. Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise continues to grow as big as their stars, as the first entry started with 2014’s Godzilla, then continued with 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, then 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and finally bringing the gargantuas face-to-face in 2020’s Godzilla vs Kong. Apple TV+ has also recently premiered Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which chronicles the secret agency that investigates and polices the activity of these ancient beasts. Add to that the recent release of the critically and audience-acclaimed Japanese film, Godzilla Minus One, currently in theaters. And this past weekend, Warner Bros. released the trailer for a new Monsterverse film, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
While Monarch has already premiered with the father-son star power of Kurt and Wyatt Russell, Apple has now unveiled a trailer for the second half of the season. The official synopsis for the series reads,...

This post contains spoilers for "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" episode 4, "Parallels and Interiors."
The Monsterverse is coming up on a decade now, dating back to director Gareth Edwards' "Godzilla" in 2014. But in all of those years, the human characters in the franchise have often left much to be desired. Fortunately, the Monsterverse has finally figured out this piece of the puzzle. The key? Kurt Russell. "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" is currently in the midst of its first season on Apple TV+ and Russell's character Lee Shaw is easily the best human character we've had against the backdrop of this world of monsters.
In nine years of the Monsterverse, we've had some extremely memorable monster action, including one heck of a showdown between Godzilla and King Kong in 2021's aptly named "Godzilla vs. Kong." The humans? That's a different story. Oftentimes, these characters feel like vehicles that are just driving us toward the next monster showdown.

With each episode, the Monsterverse series Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters seems to excel in diversifying its narrative tone and structure, which adds on new layers to the central mystery in the process. While the first two episodes focused more on the buildup and integration of the Titans into the world, the third one delineated a critique of human impact on nature, and the fourth one simultaneously took an introspective look into the psyche of one of the main leads of the series and added a new spin by turning the episode into a survival thriller. The series format provides a chance for layered storytelling, and the way Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters capitalizes on that is something other Monsterverse ventures are going to have a tough time matching up to.

Mario Van Peebles has set his latest film “The Price for Freedom,” which tells the story of civil rights pioneers and NAACP organizers Harry T. and Harriette V. Moore, who were instrumental in advancing the cause for Black voters in Florida.
The Moores’ story is described as “equal parts civil rights history and a personal tale of love, commitment and family,” as it chronicles the activists’ fight for voting rights and the equalization of pay for Black teachers in Florida, as well as their battle against racial violence and lynching.
After opening 64 chapters of the NAACP in the state and registering hundreds of thousands of Black voters, the Moores were murdered on Dec. 25, 1951, when a bomb exploded directly under their bedroom at their home on the outskirts of Mims, Fla.
“It was their attempted defense alongside the young Thurgood Marshall (destined to become the first Black Supreme Court justice) of the ‘Groveland Four,...

Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters episode three picks up seconds after the end of episode two, with the elderly Lee Shaw warning Cate (Anna Sawai), May (Kiersey Clemons), and Kentaro (Ren Watabe) they have one minute to decide if they’re going to break him out of the “retirement” community. Kentaro and Cate are desperate to know what happened to their dad, and Lee’s their only hope.
The foursome make a run for the van, and Lee’s totally confused when the van doesn’t need a key to start. Still, he’s the designated driver since he’s got experience fighting his way out of trouble.
Lee rams the front gates and Kentaro realizes he’ll never get his rental car deposit back.

It was freezing cold. The altitude was 11,000 feet. There was the occasional avalanche. No cranes. No dollies. But by getting as close to the Andes’ Valley of Tears as possible, the site of the 1972 Uruguayan rugby team’s infamous crash, Spanish filmmaker J.A. Bayona (“The Impossible”), his producing partner Belén Atienza, and their cast and crew brought the dead back to life. Sixteen survivors walked away from that crash after 72 days. 42 died.
The Spanish entry for the Oscars, “The Society of the Snow”, is about the contract the living made: They offered their bodies to keep their friends alive after their deaths.
“The people in the plane, the people who went through that story, were offering their bodies to their friends, in case they need them,” said Bayona. “And in that idea, there is something transcendent because it’s this unconscious realization that you and I are the same thing.

Dwayne Johnson is back in the Fast and Furious universe. Given the documented rivalry between Johnson and Vin Diesel, it was a welcome surprise that the two actors could put their differences aside and come together for the final film of the main franchise. However, before Fast X: Part II is released, Universal confirmed that another Hobbs solo film will be made in between the two-part finale. Hobbs & Shaw was a fun diversion from the main Fast and Furious series, but there was never a true call for a sequel to be made. Sandwiching in a Luke Hobbs sequel...

The good news: Law & Order Season 23 is on its way!
Now that the writers; and actors' strikes have been settled, the long-running procedural is all set for a shortened spring season. But it'll be short a cast member since Jeffrey Donovan has parted ways with the series.
What'll happen next? We have some ideas, but first, let's refresh our memories about what happened last year.
Law & Order Season 22 revamped Cosgrove's character a bit. He displayed a softer side and more of a willingness to listen. He also experienced the effects of racism firsthand when Shaw got in trouble for standing up to some white cops who assumed he was a criminal because of his skin color.
Cosgrove and Shaw gelled better than Cosgrove and Bernard had, making Cosgrove easier to take. He also had a Stabler-like storyline in which his daughter witnessed a murder and was traumatized.

In the first episode of Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, viewers were introduced to Lee Shaw circa 1959, back when he was an Army lieutenant tasked with “keeping alive” researchers Dr. Keiko Mira and Bill Randa (played by Mari Yamamoto and Anders Holm) as they go Muto hunting in Kazakhstan.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters may owe its greatest debt not to Toho, nor even the previous entries in the Monster-Verse, such as Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island. No, the most important movie for the new show from Apple TV+ is Soldier. Yes, Soldier, the 1998 sci-flick directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.
Because in Soldier, Kurt Russell played the same character as his son Wyatt, as the latter portrays the 11-year-old version of the lifelong warrior Todd 3465. The duo repeat that feat in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters by playing Lee Shaw at two points in the man’s life. The elder Russell plays Shaw in the present, as part of the research group Monarch, dealing with the revelation of monsters in 2014’s Godzilla. The younger Russell plays Shaw in the 1950s, connecting the series to the golden age of Kaiju cinema.

This article contains spoilers for Legendary’s “MonsterVerse” films.
Apple+‘s newest blockbuster series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, has now arrived to flesh out the larger than life “MonsterVerse.” Legacy Pictures has been building this shared universe filled with infamous kaiju ever since the reboot of Godzilla in 2014, and since, has given us all the classic monsters including Ghidora, Mothra, Rodan and of course, Kong.
Legacy of Monsters helps fill the little gaps in the periphery of the story, fleshing out the humans who choose to find, study, and often protect these massive creatures. At the center of it all has always been the imposing consortium known as “Monarch.” With all the giant-sized kaiju-chaos that can often be the most memorable moments of these monster movies, it’s understandable if Monarch shrinks in the presence of the true stars of the show. Godzilla may appear in the background of all the posters for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, but there’s very much a reason that his name doesn’t appear in the title. Rather than featuring wall-to-wall creature action, the Apple TV+ series—pointedly named for the kaiju-tracking organization that appears throughout the MonsterVerse films—mainly tells what is very much a human story. Focusing on people who must live in a world that now knows giant monsters lurk in its darkest corners, Monarch is a strong reminder of the human element that so many of the MonsterVerse films sorely lack.
Monarch’s story unfolds across two main timelines: one set in the 1950s that explores the founding of Monarch, and the other in 2015, where the world is still reeling from the first appearance of Godzilla in San Francisco, which has been termed “G-day.” The 2015 timeline opens on Cate (Anna Sawai), a schoolteacher and G-day survivor,...

There’s a pretty amazing moment in the first episode of Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, in which Cate Randa, a former school teacher visiting Japan from the States, clocks airport signage for the “Godzilla Evacuation Route.” (See photo above.)
This comes just minutes after Cate and the other arriving passengers were sprayed, before deplaning, with an anti-parasitic decontaminant.

It looks like there’s going to need to be a new detective working alongside Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) when Law & Order returns for its 23rd season (a premiere date has yet to be announced). Jeffrey Donovan, who has played Detective Frank Cosgrove on the NBC drama since it returned for its 21st season in 2022, is exiting ahead of the new season, reports TVLine. According to the outlet’s sources, he “was let go for creative reasons” and there will be a new series regular joining the cast, which, in addition to Brooks, includes Sam Waterston (D.A. Jack McCoy), Camryn Manheim (Lieutenant Kate Dixon), Hugh Dancy (Ada Nolan Price), and Odelya Halevi (Ada Samantha Maroun). Brooks came in as Cosgrove’s partner last season after Anthony Anderson, who returned from the original run as Detective Kevin Bernard for one season, exited. Now, it’ll be Shaw’s turn to get a new partner.

Considering the idea of capturing time and ideas, film history is an exciting field of study. Re-discovering the features of an era which were lost, banned or forgotten somewhere can fill in the blanks when it comes to the depiction of certain areas of life during that time or distinct ways of thinking. One of these fields is the way cultures were depicted, especially given the domination of Europe and the USA in the medium during its early years. Much like African-Americans, Asian-Americans have had their fair share of images and characters showing them within the framework of prejudices and cultural stereotypes. However, with the discovery and following restoration of features such as “The Curse of Quon Gwon” by Marion Wong and “”The Dragon Painter” by William Worthington, we are able to have a look at a chapter of early silent film production which was thought to be lost.

Like Jaws before it, the release of Cocaine Bear earlier this year has resulted in a slew of natural horror films, many of which are using the same conceit of an animal driven to extreme behavior by the consumption of narcotics. Projects already in production include Crackcoon and the delayed Methgator, created by The Asylum. You can probably guess their plots.
One animal-on-drugs movie that has already seen release is Cocaine Shark. Whereas that film treated its subject matter with an unabashedly schlocky approach, though, the more recent Deep Fear takes a similar gimmick and plays it with a straighter face. It could be the perfect post-summer movie for anyone who wants a fun cinematic trend taken a little more seriously.
Set on a yacht sailing around Grenada, Deep Fear centers on a woman named Naomi (Mãdãlina Ghenea) who, during a sailing trip to see her boyfriend (Ed Westwick), gets...

Fighting for streaming residuals has been a hard-fought sticking point for the writers and actors negotiations, but bottom-line results of the new bonus threshold may be limited.
Less than 5 percent of Netflix originals in 2022 “would have triggered performance bonuses under the new contract between the Writers Guild of America and major studios,” Bloomberg’s Lucas Shaw wrote on Sunday. The new deal between the WGA and the AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) pays out performance bonuses if at least 20 percent of a streaming platform’s U.S. users consume a new original film or TV series within its first 90 days.
Shaw’s rate of 5 percent or less accounts for all Netflix original titles, he wrote — including foreign-language, animated, and unscripted programs that aren’t governed by the WGA deal. So while, say, docuseries “Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal” crosses the threshold with a 30 percent share of U.

Shout! Factory’s Shaw Brothers Classics: Volume 3, covering the years 1976 to 1980, coincides with Shaw Brothers Studio’s creative zenith, when a decade’s worth of honed techniques and emergent competition at the Hong Kong box office propelled the studio to new artistic heights. That, though, means that this is the period that’s been most thoroughly mined by specialty home video labels looking to preserve the legacy of the studio’s work and Hong Kong genre movies in general. Most of the classics of these years, such as Lau Kar-leung’s The 36th Chamber of Shaolin and Chang Cheh’s Shaolin Temple, have already been released on home video. Notably, Cheh’s work, the usual highlight of these Shout! collections, is somewhat underrepresented here due to a smaller selection pool of titles.
This collection, though, still represents a stellar opportunity to discover some of the less-heralded gems of the Shaw Brothers Studio’s golden era,...

As Hannah Waddingham’s character remarks in the trailer for The Fall Guy, a stuntman’s job is for no one to notice them. Unfortunately for the stuntman Ryan Gosling plays in the film, he starts getting noticed in all the wrong ways.
The first trailer for The Fall Guy follows Gosling showing up to set to work for a filmmaker, a former flame played by Emily Blunt. Things go wrong when the star of that film (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson) goes missing, jeopardizing the film. In order to win back Blunt’s character, Gosling’s stuntman goes on a journey to rescue the missing action star he is doubling for.
The film is inspired by the 1980s TV series of the same name and is directed by David Leitch, the filmmaker (and former stuntman) behind Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Veteran...

Fans of HBO original series The Gilded Age have been waiting patiently since March 2022 to find out what happens next in the battle between New York’s Old Money and Nouveau Riche.
Season two continues the ensemble format established in season one by centering the storylines of the Van Rhijins and Russells plus the stories of their respective household members. Peggy Scott’s plotline takes a deeper look into African-American society beyond the city. There’s also a new cast of guest stars and supporting characters creating tension for our established characters.
Season one left off with George Russell (Morgan Spector) successfully avoiding financial ruin because of the railroad accident. This season, George’s employees are growing frustrated with working long hours in the steel mills while George is concerned that the possibilities of strikes and boycotts will cost him his own livelihood and those who depend on his railroad company for theirs.

All of a sudden, Matt Hooper’s iconic quote – “I think that I am familiar with the fact that you are going to ignore this particular problem until it swims up and bites you on the ass!” – is more relevant for its speaker, as Richard Dreyfuss is now taking umbrage with a play about the making of Jaws. Co-written by and starring Ian Shaw, son of the late Robert Shaw – who died just three years after Jaws scared moviegoers in theaters (and out of the ocean) – The Shark Is Broken is the latest target of Dreyfuss, who is none too pleased about his depiction and that of the supposedly makeshift feud between himself and Shaw.
Although it debuted in 2019 and Richard Dreyfuss even attended a performance, he is not too happy that Ian Shaw didn’t consult him on the making of Jaws; instead, Shaw used his father’s diary as a reference.

Richard Dreyfuss thinks “Jaws” director Steven Spielberg and the film’s co-screenwriter Carl Gottlieb played a factor in how he was portrayed in the new Broadway show “The Shark Is Broken.”
Dreyfuss made his remarks about the play during an interview with Vanity Fair, after he went to see the production earlier in October.
“The Shark Is Broken” imagines what could have happened behind the scenes during the classic film’s production and features character portrayals of the real stars of the movie, Dreyfuss, Roy Scheider and the late Robert Shaw. It was c0-written by Shaw’s son, Ian, who also stars in the show.
Dreyfuss said Ian never contacted him to gain his perspective.
“Ian, who has more than any right to write whatever he wants, never called me and said, “Give me some background,’ Or, ‘Give me your taken on this and this,’ and they just decided...

Jaws actor Richard Dreyfuss recently caught a performance of Broadway’s The Shark Is Broken, the comedy-drama about the making of Steven Spielberg’s 1975 blockbuster. Despite the smile on his face in meet-the-cast photos, he wasn’t very happy.
In an exclusive Vanity Fair interview, Dreyfuss criticizes the play – written by and co-starring Ian Shaw, dead-ringer son of the late Jaws actor Robert Shaw – for what he says are inaccuracies and for making him look like “a big jerk.”
“I went to see it, to see if it really was gonna hurt,” Dreyfuss tells Vf‘s Chris Murphy. “And it did.”
The comedy, based in part on Robert Shaw’s diary, depicts the long-rumored feud between Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw during the film’s hurry-up-and-wait Cape Cod shooting as the the cast – Dreyfuss, Shaw and Roy Scheider – was all but sequestered on the floating Orca set. Max Dennison, Dani Dennison, Allison Watts, and Thackery Binx made a triumphant return to Salem last weekend, but it wasn’t the Sanderson Sisters who brought them together in the historic Massachusetts town this time. Actors Omri Katz, Thora Birch, Vinessa Shaw, and Jason Marsden commemorated the Hocus Pocus 30th anniversary with an celebration dubbed It’s Just a Buncha Halloween.
“It exceeded my expectations!” exclaimed Marsden of the festivities, which consisted of a costume party, a meet and greet, and a tour of the filming locations. “Not to present false modesty, I understand how popular this project is, but I never expected the amount of people to flock to the party and to wait out in the rain for hours on end just to say hello to us. It’s been 30 years since Winifred Sanderson and her sisters put a spell on fans, and “Hocus Pocus” remains a Halloween classic. So, what are the witchy women up to these days? What about the kids they tormented? Well, at least when it comes to the latter, they aren’t kids anymore.
In fact, you can catch most of them at fan conventions across the country when they aren’t on-screen. Vinessa Shaw, Omri Katz, Thora Birch and Jason Marsden have reunited more than a few times at events in the last few years, as “Hocus Pocus” found its cult following later in its life cycle.
As for the Sanderson sisters, well, they’re obviously still hard at work in Hollywood too. In fact, they just reunited last year for “Hocus Pocus 2” on Disney+.
You can see what the ‘Hocus Pocus” cast looks like now in the photos below.

George Lucas has been making changes to the original theatrical releases of the "Star Wars" movies since day one. "A famous filmmaker once said that films are never completed, they are only abandoned," Lucas said in an interview from a January 1997 issue of Starlog. "So rather than live with my 'abandoned' movies, I decided to go back and complete them."
For the original "Star Wars," before it was given the title of "A New Hope," there really is no original theatrical edition, as it was a different film depending on how you saw it. If you caught it in mono as opposed to stereo, there were different quirks to the dialogue (and even some actors). For "The Empire Strikes Back", the ending shots of the Rebellion's fleet were added weeks after the initial release.
