Trippy Start Irene Dubois (Photo credit: Getty Images)
Irene Dubois was the first queen eliminated on the show and the first to take the stage at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel on finale night. What you didn’t see is that Irene tripped slightly as she was coming out. We don’t blame her, as her lunar moth costume was one of the most intricate of the night.
Irene recovered beautifully and when she reached the front of the stage, the statuesque queen released paper moths that flew into the audience. Take that, Asia O’Hara!

In early March, Tennessee became the first state to ban drag shows in public places.
The state’s Republican governor, Bill Lee, signed a bill that banned “adult cabaret entertainment” on public property or in locations where it can be viewed by minors, including “topless dancers, go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, male or female impersonators, or similar entertainers.”
Critics of the law, which went into effect April 1, say that categorizing drag as “adult entertainment” automatically deems them sexualized performances. They also argue the language surrounding “male and female impersonators” is inherently anti-trans.
At least a dozen other states are considering similar anti-drag legislation. It was a topic of discussion at the recent taping of the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” finale.
For Season 15 contestant Aura Mayari, the anti-drag law hits close to home. “I am from Tennessee,” Mayari told TheWrap. “I always say, just keep your head up. There’s a whole community behind you.

Tea was spilled. Dirt was dished. And some queens got some long-awaited grievances off their chests.
The reunion gave us a 2-hour montage of unfiltered fun and edited segments on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 15.
Even if the competition comes first, the reunion always finds a way to give us the needed drama. This special is welcomed and a must-have for every year!
A good reunion needs a few key things: the queens being together in person, an openness to spill all the tea, and some drama in and out of the competition.
"Reunited" checked many of the boxes we'd come to expect; the reunion was a good time that mainly stayed upbeat. Though, for a 2-hour show, it felt like many of the queens were silent or were staying in their "Congenial Era."
Like why did a good number of queens not talk as much?

For that reason, she had very little time gaining experience in the traditional spaces like nightclubs to really hone her craft before getting cast on the show.

The LALAPaRuZa lip sync smackdown has become one of RuPaul’s Drag Race‘s most iconic challenges, as queens compete against each other in jaw-dropping lip syncs to keep their spot in the competition. Season 15 of Drag Race had a larger-than-life LALAPaRuZa, with queens performing to songs such as Anitta‘s “Boys Don’t Cry” and Joan Jett’s “Do You Wanna Touch Me.” Some of the songs in the lip sync tournament have been used on Drag Race in the past.

Season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race featured the largest cast of queens in the show’s history, as 16 queens came together to compete for the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar and a massive grand prize of 200,000. But despite it being a larger-than-life season, much of Season 15‘s first half contained episodes that were compressed into one hour (with commercials), as opposed to the 90-minute episodes that have been the standard since Season 10. Now, after an outcry from fans, 90-minute Drag Race episodes are back.

One of the major draws to RuPaul’s Drag Race is the runway assignment. Many audiences wait with anticipation to hear the category of the week, demonstrating how the queens can creatively interpret the brief put in front of them. Previous fashion queens, such as season 3 winner Raja, season 9 finalist and All Stars 5 winner Shea Couleé, and season 13 finalist Gottmik are just some examples of contestants whose looks helped boost their careers to new heights in the fashion industry and beyond.

Short episodes, sashay away! On Thursday, MTV announced that RuPaul’s Drag Race will be returning to its original 90-minute episodes after fans complained that one hour was not enough to showcase each drag queen’s talent. Now, episodes will return to an hour and a half, starting March 10.
“Get ready, racers. #DragRace returns to 90-minutes starting Friday March 10 at 8/7c on @MTV,” read the statement from MTV on Thursday. With the change, the next four episodes will continue in its 60-minute format, before switching to 90 minutes, as was the case for the last five seasons.

Shared via an Instagram post on Thursday, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” announced that it will return to airing 90-minute episodes beginning March 10. The Emmy winning competition series made its big jump to MTV in January and shocked and outraged its loyal fanbase with a new 60-minute format when the third episode aired on January 13. Also in a break from tradition, the sister series “Untucked” did not immediately follow the episode and instead aired a full hour after Rpdr’s conclusion.
MTV’s trimming of the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 episode length is perceived to have made room for its new series “The Real Friends of Weho,” starring “Canada’s Drag Race” host and judge Brad Goreski. That series premiered on January 20 following the fourth episode of Rpdr. It’s been airing in the 9 pm slot that had been previously occupied by the additional 30 minutes of Rpdr and “Untucked” when the show aired on VH1.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 queen Aura Mayari is one of 16 contestants to sashay into the Werk Room. Despite some of the show’s personal moments, not every personality will mesh well while filming and in the time beyond. Aura opened up about two of her fellow queens, who she admitted she doesn’t keep in touch with beyond the group chat.

Following her episode 6 elimination, Robin Fierce speaks to the ways that the show can set girls out of their creative comfort zone and how she struggled with that during the girl group challenge. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In her interview with Michelle, Robin explained the things that have made her into the proper “lady” persona that she presents in her drag. For example, she says that she came up with her name as a way of softly bridging the gap between her life as a male so that it wouldn’t be so jarring to be called by her drag name. Each week on “Whatcha Packin’,” Michelle Visage interviews the recently eliminated queen and shows us some of the runway looks they didn’t get the chance to use on the show. Following her episode 5 elimination, Amethyst paints the picture of what it’s like to go from musical theater kid in Connecticut to working drag queen in New York City. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In her interview with Michelle, Amethyst told the story of how her drag career started in theater, followed by getting into makeup and then channeling that energy in a new persona. As a musical theater kid, Amethyst identifies as a singer first, an actor second and then last as a dancer. She explained that in her youth the theater and makeup experiences must have prepared her family for her sexuality and so she always felt supported by her parents.

Jack Antonoff has to work — he’s made that very clear. He’s busy writing for Bleachers, producing for The 1975, and singing an “Anti-Hero” remix with Taylor Swift. Somehow, RuPaul’s Drag Race viewers joked, this artist found time to compete on season 15. Here’s what fans are saying about Amethyst and her striking resemblance to the songwriter.

In her interview with Michelle, Sugar clarifies many of the differences she sees between her and her sister. Aside from being born via C-section compared to Spice’s natural birth an hour earlier than her, Sugar describes herself as the more analytical and technical twin while Spice is more creative in the visual sense. Sugar sews most of their garments which her and Michelle both think will be interesting now that Spice is left alone without a seamstress in the competition.

At the end of episode 3 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 on January 13, San Francisco-based Princess Poppy received the dreaded “sashay away” from RuPaul Charles. She went head-to-head against Amethyst in the Lip Sync for Your Life to a disco version of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Diana Ross.
We asked in a recent poll if the judges made the right decision and more than half of fans were in agreement that Amethyst should have been given the chop instead of Poppy. I used to be of the mind that you can never have too much of a good thing and that included seasons of Ru Paul’s Drag Race! I couldn’t quite understand why people were complaining that more episodes of their favourite show were being produced but I have to admit that I am starting to lose some of the sparkle new episodes once had. Not only was last week’s episode weirdly split but we also saw the return of the highly controversial talent show which saw the queens supposedly showcase unique and hidden talents to a brand new audience. However, this challenge has very quickly become watered down due to the rate in which new seasons are being produced. I personally am beginning to get fed up with multiple lip-syncs to original songs every single talent show iteration. With all that in mind, however, it’s been...

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 continued on January 13 with the next step in the competition toward discovering “America’s next drag superstar.” Chosen by last week‘s challenge winner Anetra and Lsfyl winner Amethyst, the remaining 15 queens divided themselves into three equal groups of five to work together on promotional bits advertising a queer heaven.
Seated at the judges’ dais for episode 3 was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage and newly anointed recurring host Ts Madison. They were joined by singer Maren Morris as this week’s guest judge.
The 15 queens still in the competition are: Amethyst, Anetra, Aura Mayari, Jax, Loosey Laduca, Luxx Noir London, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Princess Poppy, Robin Fierce, Salina EsTitties, Sasha Colby, Spice, and Sugar. At the end of an epic two-hour, two-episode season premiere of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 on January 6, Seattle-based queen Irene Dubois was given the chop with the season’s first “sashay away” from RuPaul Charles. She went head-to-head against Amethyst in the Lip Sync for Your Life to guest judge Ariana Grande‘s song “7 Rings.”
We asked in a recent poll if the judges made the right decision and in a near-tie decision, more fans agreed that Amethyst should have been given the instruction to “sashay away” instead of Irene. Irene fell into the bottom based on a “ice water recipe” talent performance that missed the mark for the judges. Amethyst also attempted a comedic statement with her performance, but the judges thought she revealed the gag in her bit too early and were disappointed by the choice to wear sneakers on the Main Stage.

It's a Super Sweet 16 MTV premiere for RuPaul's Drag Race in 2023. We're starting our year with a two-hour premiere that served it all on the main stage.
Double the episodes meant double the realness on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 1 and RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 2.
Plus, Ariana Grande was the iconic A-list guest judge this time around for the premiere. Jaws fell to the floor and stayed there for a long time!
RuPaul's Drag Race has typically done a split premiere for the past few seasons.
We'd get two weeks of the queens split into equal groups introducing themselves and performing in the same challenges. Then, there would be fake eliminations where the queens would "miraculously" come back into the competition. It's a formula.
This premiere had two episodes, but the structure felt so different. No more waiting around and painting by numbers! The momentum kicked into high gear...
