"The rules are simple: you run, we hunt you!" Vertical Ent. has debuted an official trailer for an indie action horror titled Happy Hunting, which is basically a brand new take on "The Most Dangerous Game". The description only explains that an alcoholic drifter becomes the target of a "deranged sporting event" but it's clear from the title and the trailer that it's obviously about a bunch of rednecks hunting people in a desert town. The film stars Martin Dingle Wall, Ken Lally, and Kenny Wormald. There's a few cool shots in this trailer, mainly the silhouette shots. Other than that, I'm not sure if this going to be entertaining or just sickening to watch. This footage makes it seem like the latter. If any of this interests you, then check it out. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Joe Dietsch & Louie Gibson's Happy Hunting, from YouTube: An alcoholic...

Warren is an alcoholic, degenerate, drifter. On his way down to Mexico he finds himself stranded in Bedford Flats a one-horse town deep in the American desert. Unfortunately for him the town’s pastime is rounding up drifters and hunting them as part of an elaborate sporting event. This most dangerous and deadly game and bloody fight for survival that builds to a violent, vile, live-or-die showdown in the desert.
Once again the classic “Most Dangerous Game” story is mined for another take on the hunting humans theme… This time round filmmakers Joe Dietsch and Louie Gibson lace their particular tale with an incredible streak of black humour that provides a distraction from the all-too familiar tale. Created as part of Justin Lin’s Yomfyom contest, Jimmy Lui’s (of Black Mast Studios) The Hopping Dead aims to terrify its audience to the bone. Read on for more details and to watch the short film in its entirety. Also in today’s Highlights: Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn Blu-ray release details as well as preview pages and cover artwork for Prometheus: Life and Death #3.
Watch Jimmy Lui’s Short Film The Hopping Dead: “The film was shot for Justin Lin’s Yomfyom filmmakers competition. It’s an homage to cult John Carpenter films like “Big Trouble in Little China and “They Live.” There’s also a nod to the classic old martial arts films featuring Sammo Hung. Lin’s competition had 2 rules. The film had to be less than 3 minutes running time and we could only use 4 lines of pre-selected dialogue — other than that there were no stipulations.

The Rubicon prequel arrived in my inbox couple of days ago and I watched it with with very low expectations. But, after watching the 12-minute episode, consider me a huge fan of the concept. The project is a prequel to the 2012 Archaia and Meteor Entertainment graphic novel written by retired Army Major Mark Long (The Silence of our Friends), Seal Team Six founding member Dan Capel and writer/director Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, Jack Reacher, Edge of Tomorrow). The project was first announced back in 2011 at NY Comic-Con as a transmedia project aiming for a feature length film and video game in addition to a graphic novel. Fast forward to 2014 and we have a pilot from director Christian Johnston that features Matt Bushell as the rough and ready CIA operative Mike and Ken Lally as his handler, Smash. Ahead of today's release...

More casting news has come our way today concerning Fire Sign Films' production of Alluvial, which is being produced and directed by Geza Decsy and co-written and produced by Sean Decker and
Jack Ulrich.
Carlee Baker (Wicked Lake) is set to star alongside Ken Lally ("Heroes", "Enterprise") and R.A. Mihailoff (Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3). Gunnar Wright (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra), Heather Snell (The Poughkeepsie Tapes), and Deacon Conroy (A Marine Story) have also been attached to headline in
leading roles.
“Carlee offers not only a genre pedigree, says director Decsy, “she brings to Alluvial a sweet charisma and quietly unhinged quality that fully embodies what we wanted for the role of Eileen. Still, serious character work aside, she’s also promised her fans that she’ll 'rock the side boob better than anyone'! How can you not just adore that kind of dedication to the art?...

Pre-production has begun on Alluvial , a film that falls into the survival horror category. Geza Decsy is directing for Fire Sign Films. He'll co-produce alongside Paul Hough and screenwriters Jack Ulrich and Sean Decker. Shooting is expected to begin this October with Ken Lally ( Heroes ) and R.A. Mihailoff ( Leatherface ) the first two actors locked in to star. Sota FX is handling make-up and practical effects on this tale of seven friends who contract a mysterious illness while camping the badlands of the Panamint Valley. The virus they contract causes them to turn on one another in a display of skewed emotions and primal rage. "It's a fucked up little script," explains Decker. "Jack and I certainly didn't set out to write the Citizen Kane of horror...

Camping. We can cite so many different reasons why we shouldn't spend time in the woods. It's a kind of foreign realm to us city folk. There are just too many variables. Especially at night. In the dark. With his new film Alluvial producer-director Geza Decsy and company are set to give us a whole new reason to fear what's out there -- ourselves.
Alluvial is a horror/survival film that chronicles the downward spiral of seven friends who, while camping in the godforsaken badlands of Panamint Valley, contract a mysterious illness, one which causes them to turn on one another in a mesmerizing display of skewed emotions and primal rage.
Already cast are Ken Lally ("Heroes", "Enterprise") and R.A. Mihailoff (Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3). Geza Decsy will produce with filmmaker Paul Hough (The Human Race, The Angel). Roy Knyrim’s Sota FX (The Abyss, Ed Wood, Of Gods and...

Holy crud, I can't believe I totally didn't even realize that All-Con was last weekend until pretty much Wednesday of last week... All-Con is a relatively small science fiction convention here in Dallas that welcomes all dorky genres. It's recently added anime cosplay contests a steam punk ball to draw in a younger crowd and keep things nice and fresh.
I went last year and joined up with steam punk group after throwing together a little outfit from bits of cothing and scraps of fabric that belonged to myself and the friends I was hanging out with. It actually turned out pretty cool =)
I made a pact with myself not to let myself forget about it this year so I could put together a really cool costume for the cosplay.
Womp-womp... It was a good plan, anyways =P
My cosplay group actually wanted to go this year since it's the...
