This post contains spoilers for "Peaky Blinders."
Most of us are aware that the Peaky Blinders were a real gang that operated in the late 1800s in Birmingham, England, but Steven Knight's "Peaky Blinders" takes this real-life aspect and imbues it with extraordinarily intriguing drama, sprinkled with exaggerated historical events. As a result, the series makes for unforgettable television, especially due to the intricate, colorful characters that inhabit a world on the verge of change, forever plunged into chaos. While Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) is well-loved for his complex characterization and general badassery, there is another member of the Shelby family who is as conflicted and has proven to be a compelling deuteragonist in the BBC series. Arthur Shelby, played by Paul Anderson, might not be anyone's favorite Shelby, but he sure is a force to be reckoned with.

CinemaBlind’s Review – 70%
F. Gary Gray‘s latest Netflix heist film is coming tomorrow and for the people who are excited about film Lift, CinemaBlind is here to watch and judge the upcoming film in advance for you. Starring Kevin Hart in the leading role, the film revolves around a group of master thieves whom Interpol catches at the beginning of the film, but they are offered full immunity and in turn, they will have to pull off a seemingly impossible heist.
Lift is another one of Netflix’s blockbuster cinema like what they tried to do with Ryan Reynolds‘ 6 Underground and Red Notice, but the good thing here is that it is better than both of those films but it is also nowhere near the great heist film like Ocean’s Eleven or Gary Gray’s own The Italian Job.

"Three... two... one... lift!" Netflix has unveiled the final "New Year's Day" trailer for the heist action comedy Lift, coming to Netflix to watch streaming in just a few weeks. This action thriller comedy is one of the first big releases on Netflix in 2024 (along with Society of the Snow). An international heist crew, led by Cyrus Whitaker, race to lift $500 million in gold from a passenger plane while flying at 40,000 feet. It's from the same director as The Italian Job remake and Law Abiding Citizen, so it might actually be entertaining to watch. With Kevin Hart Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D'Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó, Jacob Batalon, Billy Magnussen, Viveik Kalra, Yun Jee Kim, Burn Gorman, Paul Anderson, plus Jean Reno and Sam Worthington. This doesn't look that bad, but it also but doesn't look that good either, like most of the expensive Netflix movies recently. Worth a watch? Hard to tell from just the trailers.

Kevin Hart attempts to hijack a plane from 40,000 feet in the air in the first official Lift trailer. Lift is a forthcoming Netflix original that will debut next year.
Hart signed a contract with Netflix two years ago to create and star in 4 feature films, as well as a first-look pact for his production company, HartBeat Productions. His most recent project is quite different from previous works.
Lift | Official Trailer
The Lift trailer opens with Hart and his team in a risky situation since their evil strategies have caught up. The authorities have them cornered, yet there is a way out.
Putting $500 million in gold on a passenger plane headed for a terrorist cell will rescue them. However, to prevent a terrorist attack, the theft must occur in midair at 40,000 feet. “Just treat it like any other lift,” Hart tells his crew. That’s right. There’s no need to worry.

"It's impossible." "It just hasn't been done before." Can they pull it off? Netflix has revealed the first trailer for a new heist action comedy called Lift, coming to Netflix to watch in January 2024 early next year. This trailer just debuted during a big NFL game, which means Netflix is trying to make this one of their next big hits. Does it really have that potential? An international heist crew, led by Cyrus Whitaker, race to lift $500 million in gold from a passenger plane while flying at 40,000 feet. It's from the same director as The Italian Job remake and Law Abiding Citizen, F. Gary Gray, so it might actually be pretty cool to see them pull this off. In the world of movies and TV shows, there are countless adaptations that have been made from popular novels and biographical works. But these forms of entertainment have also been inspired by and adapted from some of the biggest video games, which don't get nearly as much attention as they should. In 2023, HBO's acclaimed series "The Last of Us," based on the Sony action-adventure game franchise of the same name, broke viewership records and became the most-watched show in the history of the streaming platform in Europe and Latin America, per the Associated Press.
Along with television series, video-game-to-movie adaptations have also grown in popularity among audiences, with the star-studded "The Super Mario Bros." movie, adapted from the beloved game franchise by Nintendo, being the second-highest grossing film of 2023 so far, as reported by Insider. The film, which features voice acting from stars like Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Jack Black,...

Look beyond the flashes of cathartic violence, the numerous double-dealing and betrayals, and the relentless quest for power featured throughout every season of "Peaky Blinders," and it's plain to see that the entire BBC series boils down to a very simple and straightforward concept. At its heart, the arc of Cillian Murphy's Tommy Shelby is about a man who has been completely unable to come to terms with the trauma inflicted upon him during wartime. Much of the early seasons of the hit show focuses on the crime lord's Ptsd-caused flashbacks to his time serving as a tunneler for the British army in World War I. Although he and his regiment saved countless lives, his horrific near-death experiences left him a shell of the man he used to be ... and, in effect, every single one of his actions throughout the series stems from this one event.

Legendary pop star David Bowie was a man of eclectic pop culture tastes. The artist formerly known as Ziggy Stardust and The Thin White Duke was famous for his mysterious, otherworldly personas, but he wasn't actually all mystery all the time. Bowie passed away in 2016, but fans can still excavate lists of his personal favorites and influences online, like this one from Far Out Magazine that notes that he counted "Trainspotting," "Un Chien Andalou," and "Moon" among his favorite movies.
Bowie may not have always been very public about his pop cultural interests, but we know about at least one television show that he loved prior to his passing: "Peaky Blinders." The BBC series turned Netflix original ended its TV run in 2022 (a film is still to come), but series creator Steven Knight revealed back in 2016 that Bowie was apparently a massive fan of the show. Welp! That old gray mare, she ain’t what she used to be. Kevin Hart recently learned a harsh lesson in the art of aging after challenging former NFL player Stevan Ridley to a 40-yard dash. During his attempt to do “young stuff,” Hart tore his lower abdomen and abductors. Calling himself the Dumbest Man Alive, Hart is recovering in a wheelchair after the incident. To control the narrative and perhaps warn his fans to respect their aging bodies, Hart posted a message to social media detailing his injury.
In the video, Hart says he argued with Ridley about who is faster. The duo agreed to engage in a 40-yard dash, and that’s where it all went south.
“We get out there, we go run the 40-yard dash,” Hart said. “40-yard dash. Guys, I blew all my s–t. Tore my lower abdomen, my abductors. I don’t even know what that is,...

Danny Bonaduce’s brain surgery was a success, his agent Paul Anderson told TMZ on Tuesday.
The “Partridge Family” star, who was recently diagnosed with hydrocephalus, had a stent and a drainage port put in to relieve the pressure on his brain. Ahead of the surgery, Bondaduce said he hoped it would restore his ability to walk.
“From what I hear, if the diagnosis is correct, it’ll be 50 percent better right [away]. But I’d rather be safe than sorry. I don’t wanna get my hopes up too much that I’ll be cured … I will be completely bummed out if this doesn’t work. I can’t walk currently, I just can’t,” he said.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 25 years since Event Horizon was unleashed in theaters. To commemorate this milestone, Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing this sci-fi horror suckerpunch next week (August 9th) in North America. This 4K/Blu-ray combo release (with digital copy) comes packaged in a steelbook with plastic slipcover overlay, printed with a multitude of villain Dr. Weir’s grabby, undead hands. Those hands, of course, were wielded by Sam Neill under laborious prosthetics (he had to sit though somewhere around eight hours in the make-up chair). Event Horizon was directed by Paul Anderson who later added the “W.S.” to his name after being confused with Paul Thomas Anderson too many times. As the plot goes, a rescue crew headed...

From the outside looking in, it might be easy to assume that "Peaky Blinders" amassed its passionate and intensely loyal fanbase thanks to the usual combination of violence, sex, and utterly fascinating power plays as the Shelby family of gangsters picked fights with all sorts of villains over the show's six seasons. On one level, that's not entirely wrong ... but longtime viewers will be quick to point to the practically endless amount of unique, richly-drawn, and morally complicated characters -- and their talented actors -- who populated this series throughout the years.

The long-gestating Peaky Blinders feature film spin-off is to film at writer Steven Knight’s studios in Birmingham.
Speaking to British radio station Heart FM, Knight also confirmed he was close to completing the script for the film, which will follow on from the final sixth season that dropped earlier this year. The film has long been in the works, and shooting should begin “within 18 months,” he added, which is in line with previous estimations.

With the sixth and final season of period gangster epic Peaky Blinders currently enjoying a strong run in the UK, Netflix has set the premiere date for the rest of the world. All six episodes of Season 6 will launch on the streaming service at 12:01Am on June 10 in the U.S. and all markets where Netflix has the show’s rights.
The Cillian Murphy-led series debuted its sixth season in late February on BBC One in the UK, setting a new record for a season launch at 3.8 million overnight viewers. That was the best score for the Shelby clan in a debut episode ever and also tied the series’ overall record which was previously set by the Season 5 finale in September 2019.
Season 6 is the last run of the drama in series form. However, creator Steven Knight recently confirmed to us that a movie is definitely going to happen with the same players.

BBC One has set the premiere date for the sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders with the award-winning period gangster saga set to return on February 27 at 9pm in the UK. The date was made official this morning in Birmingham, home to the fictional Shelby clan, via a 42-foot high mural looming over Digbeth’s Old Crown (see it in full below).

Sarah Wayne Callies is leading the charge on a new scripted podcast series that also stars David Harbour and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Callies has written, directed and will star in post-apocalyptic series Aftershock, which she first teased last summer at the virtual TCA press tour.
The Walking Dead star co-created the series with her Nomadic Engine partners, Patrick Carman and Ben Haber. The series, which will launch on July 14 via iHeartMedia, is co-produced by Salmira Productions.
