Set against the super-niche world of live-action role-playing (Larp), Knights of Badassdom‘s social misfits approach their real-ish fantasizing the same way they approach their bong hits and guitar shredding: with a dedication that verges on “too much.” Yet Joe Lynch’s horror comedy, which finally earned a limited release after years of production woes, never feels in sync with its geek influences. In more appropriate terms, this isn’t a film that wears its heart on its sleeve because it’s hard to pin anything to a sorcerer’s robes.
The well-documented production foibles of Lynch’s film don’t seem to have reached its music, as Knights of Badassdom’s score brings a fanboy enthusiasm to its anachronistic combination of Renaissance and metal soundscapes. Long a fan favorite in television since his work on SyFy’s Battlestar Galactica revamp, Bear McCreary is no stranger to film music — this...

New Delhi, March 6: Members of Grammy Award winning Australian hard rock band Wolfmother, songs of which have featured in movies like "The Hangover and "Shrek The Third", are on their maiden visit to India. They are loving the experience and gorging on "upma and curries".
Wolfmother consists of Andrew Stockdale, Ian Peres and Vin Steele.
"We want no English breakfast while we are here, we are loving the upma (a thick porridge made of dry roasted semolina) and the lentils," Stockdale, the band's founder, vocalist and guitarist, told Ians.
"We are enjoying the curries here three times a day," he added over phone.

While the Marvel mega merchandising and marketing machine has left no stone unturned, the soundtracks for their film have always been pretty random affairs. Last year's collection of tunes for "The Avengers" was hilariously out of touch with lots of meathead music, while the AC/DC powered tuneage for "Iron Man 2" was particularly uninspired. But it seems that for "Iron Man 3," the comic studio has hired some people who know a thing or two about what the kids want to hear and have pulled together a halfway respectable line up. Featuring "music from and inspired by" the superhero sequel (meaning you probably won't hear most of this in the actual movie), hipsters will approve of Passion Pit, Imagine Dragons and Rogue Wave making appearances. Dudes who still wanna rawk will get a tune from Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother, tweens will scream for 3Oh!3 and those looking for some...

First up, the bad news: there is a noticeable lack of AC/DC on the "Iron Man 3" soundtrack. I guess the people behind the album figured that nothing could top the show-stopping inclusion of "Shoot To Thrill" in "Marvel's the Avengers" (one of the best moments in a film comprised entirely of best moments).
The good news is that this album has a healthy mix of selections from indie rock and alternative bands, including critical darlings Passion Pit and hot band Neon Trees. Check out the full tracklist and album art below.
1. "Ready Aim Fire" – Imagine Dragons
2. "Some Kind of Joke" – Awolnation
3. "Some Kind of Monster" – Neon Trees
4. "American Blood" – Passion Pit
5. "No Time" – Rogue Wave
6. "One Minute More" – Capital Cities
7. "Back To The Start"– Mr Little Jeans
8. "Keep Moving" – Andrew Stockdale (of Wolfmother)
9. "Redemption" – Redlight King
10. "Big Bad Wolves" – Walk The Moon
11. "Bad Guy" – 3Oh!

Before filming kicked off for Iron Man 3, producers were already pursuing musicians for the anticipated film's soundtrack. Speaking with Classic Rock magazine back in May, Australian retro-rocker Andrew Stockdale, frontman of the Grammy Award-winning Wolfmother rock band, revealed they're in the mix. He says his new five-piece lineup are ready deliver their third album after some contractual difficulties. And one track, tentatively called Ghetto, has been submitted to producers of the Iron Man franchise. “Only last night we were invited to submit and I had the perfect song,” Stockdale reports. “It has a big, slow, sludgy riff.” Iron Man 3 won't exactly be the Australian band's first comic book movie feature. They also contributed to the official soundtrack of the third installment of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man franchise. Anyhow, after many drastic lineup changes, in which critics blamed Stockdale for, Wolfmother also consists of Ian Peres, Vin Steele, Elliott...

Hamish Rosser, departed the Australian alternative rock band after playing with them for 10 years, because they decided to revert back to their original three-piece setup. Rosser told The Daily Telegraph that he cannot wait to join Andrew Stockdale's rock outfit, saying: "I'm stoked. These songs are fun to play - they're right up my alley because it's my style of music, because heavy rock is where I come from." Australian rockers Wolfmother have come under fire from anti-smoking campaigners for their decision to go ahead with a gig in Indonesia despite their misgivings about the event's sponsorship by a cigarette company. The band was rumored to have pulled out of a slot at the upcoming Java Rockin' Land festival in Jakarta next month after a statement from frontman Andrew Stockdale slamming the endorsement deal with a tobacco firm was posted online.
The group's Australian agent subsequently confirmed the show would go on for the musicians, even though Stockdale initially "freaked out" when he heard about the sponsorship agreement with cigarette maker Gudang Garam.
But anti-smoking groups are not happy with the decision and have criticized Wolfmother for not making a stand against the advertising of tobacco. Simon Chapman, professor of public health at Sydney University, has also slammed the band and cited other acts, including Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson,...

Australian rockers Wolfmother are facing another line-up change - they have lost a second drummer in as many years following the departure of Dave Atkins. The band was rocked in 2008 when two of the three original members, Chris Ross and Myles Heskett, left the band citing "irreconcilable personal and musical differences".
Frontman Andrew Stockdale decided to continue the group and recruited new members, including Atkins, to take their place. But the band has hit trouble again with the announcement that Atkins has quit to "spend much-needed time at home with his family".
A statement from Wolfmother reads, "After two years of good service to Wolfmother, Dave Atkins has decided to leave the band to spend much-needed time at home with his family. Dave has had a great experience touring and recording with the band, though in time, it's proven to be too exhausting and taxing on his home life."

Ratings: *** This is it, the Guns N Roses re-union you have all been waiting for, with the exception of Axl Rose, of course. This album brings together the former members Steven Adler, Duff McKagan and Izzy Stradlin on various songs on the album. The icing on the cake is the vast array of guests who have all stepped in to lend their talents to the power songwriting talents of Slash. Look at the list, Ian Astbury (The Cult), Ozzy Osbourne, Chris Cornell, Adam Levine (Maroon 5), Dave Grohl, Kid Rock, Alice Cooper, Nicole Scherzinger, Andrew Stockdale (Wolfmother), Lemmy Killmister (Motorhead), ...

After years of toiling in some wildly successful rock bands (most notably Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver), Slash has finally made his way into the center of the spotlight with his first true solo album. It just debuted in third place on the Billboard album chart, moving over 60,000 copies in its first week on the strength of the behatted guitarist's non-stop promotion and the single "By the Sword" (a team-up with Wolfmother frontman Andrew Stockdale.

I'm within a month of being done with my first year of Grad school, which means that the next few weeks are a veritable flurry of tests, projects, academic advising meetings and the like. And that's just to do with school, never mind the other mess with regards to what I'm going to do for the summer, where I'm going to be living next year, and just what the hell am I going to do with myself a year from now after I've actually earned this degree so I will not be getting a good night's sleep until probably May 13th at the earliest. According to certain people I get more amusing the more sleep deprived I get so maybe all of y'all have something to look forward to. Welcome to Tuesday night:

After being dominated for weeks by movie stars, the talk shows are all about music this week. There are some excellent excuses to stay up way past your bed time in the coming days, as there will be some electrifying performances from some of the best artists working. Sadly, David Letterman will be left out in the cold, as "The Late Show" only airs twice (on Tuesday, April 6 and Wednesday, April 7). That seems like an excellent excuse to tune in to "The Tonight Show," as Jay Leno welcomes Slash and Andrew Stockdale (performing the new single "By the Sword" from Slash's new solo album) on Tuesday, Corinne Bailey Rae on Wednesday and Train (whose "Hey Soul Sister" continues a dominant climb up the charts) on Thursday (April 8). Leno will also chat with the likes of David Boreanaz, Demi Moore and David Duchovny.

Slash has axed plans to release his collaboration with Ozzy Osbourne as the first single from his solo album - to avoid clashing with the Prince of Darkness' new material. The Velvet Revolver guitarist recruited a number of stars, including Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie and Kid Rock, to lend their vocals to his first solo effort, "Slash", and had picked "Crucify the Dead", a track with Osbourne, as his debut release.
But he's now promoting "By the Sword", sung by Wolfmother's Andrew Stockdale, since Osbourne is planning to put out his own solo disc in June. And he admits the star-studded collection is already proving problematic.
Slash tells the Pulse of Radio, "The problem with this record is, because I do have all guest singers, you run the risk of, you know, getting singles rights and interfering with the release of other people's records. So that's really what the issue was,...

It was an extremely loud night for charity in La on Sunday, November 22, when Slash joined Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello and Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington for a charity concert to benefit Layn (the Los Angeles Youth Network).

Also at the event were Wolfmother’s Andrew Stockdale, Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro and Blink 182’s Travis Barker.
Layn helps some of the 12,000 homeless youths that sleep on La’s streets every night by “providing street outreach, food, emergency shelter and transitional living programs, with a professional, caring staff in a nurturing and safe environment”. To find out about the charity, visit their website.

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" opened up to a record-busting weekend, bringing in over $140 million over the weekend (making it the third-largest film opening of all time, behind "Spider-Man 3" and "The Dark Knight"). Certainly the business generated by the second film in the series was due to the buzz created by stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart last week. The promotional push doesn't slow down this week on the TV talk shows, many of which are dark or running limited schedules because of the Thanksgiving holiday. Tonight, Ashley Greene will try to follow Pattinson's appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman," while co-star Taylor Lautner will be Conan O'Brien's guest on "The Tonight Show."
Letterman also has some top-shelf musical talent this week, as he welcomes Rihanna on Tuesday night (November 24) and Adam Lambert on Wednesday (November 25). Conan, meanwhile, has Timbaland on tonight and Weezer on Tuesday.

Wolfmother frontman Andrew Stockdale has criticised music industry bosses over plans to withhold pay from artists who are addicted to drugs. A coalition of record label chiefs, led by the former head of Island Records Marc Marot, are looking to place a legal clause in all artists' contracts denying them wages if they are unable to perform due to substance abuse or self-harm. Musicians could also face suspension from their record label if they are deemed to have broken the agreement, Gigwise reports. Marot claimed that the clause will only be implemented to protect vulnerable musicians, saying: "Everyone has their own right to live how they want to live. There is sometimes a vested interest in people misbehaving and it's not that I or my colleagues want to take the 'rock 'n' roll' out of rock 'n' roll. "We don't, but (more)...
