Hulu’s Hellraiser, a reimagining of Clive Barker’s 1987 horror classic from director David Bruckner, will debut in the U.S. exclusively on Hulu on October 7, and Bloody Disgusting has learned that Lakeshore Records will release the Hellraiser (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) on October 7 as well. And today we’re debuting an exclusive track from the score!
Ben Lovett composed the score for Hulu’s brand new Hellraiser movie, and the track you can listen to down below takes you deep inside the Puzzle Box. It’s titled, fittingly, “Blood Box.”
Lovett tells Bloody Disgusting, “How does one approach music for a Hellraiser film without the outsized influence of Christopher Young’s original score? Josh Hartnett Starrer ‘The Fear Index,’ ‘False Flag’ S3 to Screen at Berlinale Series Market Selects
“The Fear Index,” starring Josh Hartnett, and the third season of iconic Israeli series “False Flag” will both screen at the Berlinale Series Market Selects, whose lineup was unveiled Tuesday.
The latest from “The Crown” producers Left Bank Pictures, Sky Original “The Fear Index” is billed as a fast-paced, gripping Frankenstein-style parable on the dangers of AI. Based on the Robert Harris novel of the same title, its international sales will be handled by NBCUniversal Global Distribution.
Sold by Keshet International, “False Flag” is one of milestone titles that turned Israel’s series into a global brand, with Fox International taking the world on season one at 2015’s Mipcom in its first global acquisition of a foreign-language series.
Season three marks the return of both original series creators, Maria Feldman and Amit Cohen, in a tale which looks set to weave the same web of distrust, deception and sudden twists as the first two seasons.

It’s not unusual, in the world of Doctor Who, for the same actor to play more than one role on screen. From classic to modern Doctor Who, Nicholas Courtney, Ian Marter, Lalla Ward, Jaqueline Hill, Jean Marsh, Adjoa Andoh, Eve Myles, Naoko Mori, Vinette Robinson and more have all played multiple parts in the whoniverse. Before she debuted as companion Martha Jones, Freema Agyeman was a Torchwood employee who fell foul of the Cybermen in series two’s ‘Army of Ghosts’. Karen Gillan was a seer in series four episode ‘The Fires of Pompeii’ before she recurred as Eleven’s companion Amy Pond. Even the Doctor has had test runs. Colin Baker played a Gallifreyan commander in season twenty before taking over from Peter Davison. Peter Capaldi appeared in ‘The Fires of Pompeii’ as well as playing John Frobisher on Torchwood before taking up residence in the Tardis.

We're not going to say these are the best horror flicks to watch, ever.
But we are gonna say there are a bunch of random streaming spooks with which to busy ourselves this pandemic-riddled All Hallow's Eve. We've checked many out for you here -- but are you like me, thinking there isn't really a such thing as a "scary" movie?
Anyhoodles, instead of sitting around feeling sorry for ourselves with nothing to do, we can sit around feeling sorry for ourselves and watch some creepy shit. Now, in no particular order:
Jessabelle (Hulu) - 2014
Just as they are about to start a new life together, Jesse (Sarah Snook) and her boyfriend get into a hardcore car accident, killing him, crippling her.
Moving in with her estranged father to recover back "home," Jesse encounters a lingering, dark spirit.

A relatively modest, low-key tale about global refugee issues that are usually portrayed in a higher dramatic key, “The Flood” makes a somewhat underwhelming first impression. But it gradually overcomes that to arrive at a potent (if still quiet) cumulative impact, bolstered by strong performances from leads Ivanno Jeremiah and Lena Headey. A nonstarter on theatrical home turf nearly a year ago, the feature should do better in home formats, with Samuel Goldwyn launching release to Stateside VOD platforms on May 1.
Helen Kingston’s screenplay initially seems too arid and schematic, as Headey’s grimly impersonal English immigration officer Wendy interviews newly-arrived asylum seeker Haile (Jeremiah). He says he can’t return to his native Eritrea because, “They will kill me.” But the flashbacks detailing his flight feel too sketchy as explanation, with gaps larger than our imaginations can easily fill in.

"England will not want you." "I've always been unwanted..." Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted an official Us trailer for an indie drama titled The Flood, which originally opened in the UK last summer. It will be available to watch on digital in the Us starting in early May. The film presents an intriguing, dramatic look at the challenges of immigration and the ongoing refugee crisis in Europe. The story follows a "hardened immigration officer" named Wendy, and an asylum seeker named Haile who has traveled great distances to reach the UK hoping to stay there. Lena Headey stars, joined by Ivanno Jeremiah playing Haile, and a cast including Iain Glen, Arsher Ali, Mandip Gill, Amira Ghazalla, Jack Gordon, and Christopher Sciueref. This looks like a compelling and gripping film about the times we live in with mass immigration worldwide. And a very powerful statement about refugees and why it's all...

"You understand, when you are trying to cross borders, the only people that will help you... are dangerous people." Curzon Cinemas in the UK has debuted an official trailer for a fascinating indie drama titled The Flood, from director Anthony Woodley. The film presents an intriguing, dramatic look at the challenges of immigration and the ongoing refugee crisis in Europe. Lena Headey stars, with Ivanno Jeremiah playing Haile, and a cast including Iain Glen, Arsher Ali, Mandip Gill, Amira Ghazalla, Jack Gordon, and Christopher Sciueref. This looks so much more thought-provoking and compelling than you're probably expecting it to be, and doesn't seem to be pandering to any one audience. I recommend watching the trailer, it might convince you to see this film.

The number of big-ticket dramas coming to the international market continues to increase as viewers embrace shows from all corners and consume them on a dizzying range of channels and platforms.
In a cluttered landscape, movie-inspired shows and book adaptations have built-in marketing appeal and bring a fan base, which is one way to cut through. There are multiple examples of both at MipTV,
from “Four Weddings and a Funeral” and “To Catch a Thief,” to Canneseries opener “Vernon Subutex,” based on the hip French novel.
“The Walking Dead” producer Channing Powell envisages a dystopian future about a technology embedded inside our heads, while other series tackle the populist politics taking hold in many parts of the world. Immigration tales from the past, but with a modern-day relevance are also to the fore.

John Simm plays a rabble-rousing populist politician in “Cold Courage,” and Lionsgate has stepped up and taken international rights to the series.
Based on the series of novels by Pekka Hiltunen, the drama is billed as the biggest yet out of Finland and will bow on the Viaplay streaming service in Scandinavia. With a cast from all over Europe and a shoot spanning Belgium, Finland, Ireland, and the U.K., “Cold Courage” is international in scope and ambition.
That was part of the appeal for Simm, a familiar face on British TV, playing The Master in “Doctor Who” and starring in a host of other shows for British networks. “There was a point I was on BBC and ITV at the same time and that was a bit much,” he told Variety. “I thought it would be nice to step away from that for a little bit and do something I haven’t done,...

One of the UK TV events of the year during 2018 was Bodyguard, a dark six-part drama starring Richard Madden and Keeley Hawes. Over 10 million people watched the finale (that's 15 percent of the entire UK population), and everyone was talking about it. The show was quickly picked up by Netflix in the Us, and won a Golden Globe.
There's no denying that Bodyguard was good, but the runaway success of the series meant that another show that started soon after - and was arguably even better - didn't get the publicity it deserved. Informer hit UK TV screens on Oct. 16, just a couple of weeks after Bodyguard's hyped finale, and those who didn't tune in definitely missed out. Luckily, Informer is just hit Amazon Prime Video, so you don't have to be one of them.

The trouble with the format popular among British dramas — a scant number of episodes, standing alone or else subject to years’-long hiatuses between installments — is that fans are bound to be left wanting more. But for everyone who felt a hankering for more propulsive counterterrorism drama after the recent Netflix import “Bodyguard,” with its relatively meager six episodes, can be comforted by Amazon’s “Informer.” Like “Bodyguard,” it’s been brought over from a first airing in the U.K. (where it played on the BBC), and like that show, too, it foregrounds a transporting, granular depiction of contemporary London. While it’s at times glutted with incident and could use a bit less complication and a bit more springy tension, it still makes for a compelling and, finally, rewarding binge.
The story begins with a crystalline moment of horror, as a pair of Londoners’ seeming meet-cute is interrupted by an act of terror.

Debuting at the 2018 London Film Festival this is Netflix’s Been So Long, Tinge Krishnan’s London based musical starring Black Mirror and Chewing Gum’s Michaela Coel, George MacKay, Game of Thrones’ Joe Dempsie, Luke Norris, Arsher Ali, Arinze Keen and Ronke Adekoluejo. We spoke to the cast, director and to the film’s writer Che Walker who was in fine form alongside composer Arthur Darvill, better known to many as Rory Williams from Matt Smith’s reign on Doctor Who.
Been so Long will premiere on Netflix across the world on the 26th of October. Our perfectly harmonious songbirds Colin Hart and Scott Davis were on the red carpet to talk about this vibrant film, and about how having Netflix on board changed the filmmaking process. Here’s how they got on.

"This is Camden, where everyone has a story..." Netflix has finally unveiled an official trailer for an indie romantic musical titled Been So Long, which is premiering at the London Film Festival this month before arriving on Netflix. This honestly looks like the first great movie musical since La La Land, and I've got a really good feeling it's going to be wonderful. Been So Long stars Michaela Coel as Simone, a dedicated single mother who, on an unusual night out on the town, is charmed by a handsome yet troubled stranger named Raymond, played by Arinzé Kene. Also starring George MacKay, Joe Dempsie, Luke Norris, Arsher Ali, Tom Forbes, Ashley Thomas, and Rakie Ayola. This isn't the greatest trailer, but there's still something about this that feels magical. As a fan of musicals myself, I can't wait to see this. Take a peek. Warning: light spoilers for The Ritual below! I won't ruin your Netflix and chill . . . I promise.
An ill-fated hike through a dark, foreign wood. Eviscerated bodies hanging from trees. A cabin full of horrors. These are just some of the grisly things you'll have to endure if you decide to sit down and venture into The Ritual, David Bruckner's disturbing original horror film on Netflix. Let me be the first to tell you: it'll be worth it.
As the great debate for whether or not movies should be distributed through Netflix vs. movie theaters rages on, especially in terms of big-budget extravaganzas like The Cloverfield Paradox or Oscar-caliber dramas like Dee Rees's Mudbound, the streaming giant has unquestionably found its rhythm within the horror genre. Like 2016's Hush and 2017's Gerald's Game, this year's The Ritual is an impressive, inventive addition to Netflix's growing horror oeuvre that more...

Netflix is having an excellent 2018 when it comes to the horror genre. The streaming giant’s Spanish-language “Veronica” has everyone talking this month, and last month it was “The Ritual” that was turning heads. Over a month after “The Ritual’s” release, it’s clear the David Bruckner-directed horror movie is a new favorite among genre directors and actors. Horror favorites like Guillermo del Toro and Mike Flanagan have all shared praise for the film, which first premiered at Tiff last year.
“The Ritual” stars Rafe Spall, Arsher Ali, Robert James-Collier, and Sam Troughton as four friends who get together to honor the memory of one of their late pals by setting out on a hiking trip through Sarek National Park in northern Sweden. The forest, however, is hiding some dark secrets, and it doesn’t take long for the group to be put in jeopardy after they discovery something terrifying is lurking about.

David Bruckner’s The Ritual is a harrowing blend of fierce and folksy horror, but also comes with a tingle of Fomo. How, you ask? Track back to 2007, when Bruckner teamed with Dan Bush and Jacob Gentry to dial-in their shared narrative The Signal (three directors, three “transmissions”). Between then and The Ritual we’ve seen two Bruckner visions in the form of (fan favorite) anthology segments – “Amateur Night” (V/H/S) and “The Accident” (Southbound) – yet no solo project. Quite simply, The Ritual is too tight and polished for a “feature-length debut,” but that’s what it *technically* is. Genre fans, we’ve been robbed of boatloads more Bruckner these past years (case and point: where the Hell is Brucker’s Friday The 13th).

"Your darkest dreams await you..."
Another day, another movie about a group of friends that venture into the woods where awful and nightmarish things await them. Yeah, this kind of movie is a dime a dozen, but this one actually looks really good! Netflix produced the film, and after watching this trailer, I can't wait to check it out.
It's movies like this that make going camping and exploring in strange mysterious woods and other places so exciting! You think I'm joking, but I love exploring stuff like this in real life! If I came across woods like this with crazy markings on the trees I'd be the first to run in and starting exploring. I haven't been killed by any creatures or anything yet, so that's a plus!
The Ritual was directed by David Bruckner, who helmed segments in the horror films Southbound, V/H/S, and The Signal.

"We shouldn't be here..." Netflix has released the official trailer for an indie horror film titled The Ritual, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year. This horror is about a group of college friends that reunite for a camping trip in the forest, but encounter a menacing presence in the woods that's stalking them. It seems to play with the idea that "your darkest dreams await you" out there, thanks to whatever this creepy "ritual" from the title is. The main cast of The Ritual includes Rafe Spall, Robert James-Collier, Arsher Ali, and Sam Troughton. Featuring a score by Ben Lovett. I feel as if we've recently seen tons of these kind of forest/camping horror thrillers, so I'm not sure what this one offers that's new. Check this out. The shadow of The Blair Witch Project certainly looms large over any Horror movie that ventures into the woods. Be it the countless Found Footage capers set inside a dark, treacherous, vegetative coated hell on earth or the other entries in the genre that feature young people lost at nature being dispatched by something gruesome and (mostly) unseen. So doing something different with the setting is a big ask but we’ll settle for just an interesting addition to the pile and while The Ritual is flawed and not exactly original, it boasts something many of its ilk do not…strong characters.
Starting with an unexpected but thoroughly interesting narrative set-up, The Ritual immediately grabs your attention with a ruthless moment of realistic nastiness, which leads onto the plot ahead. Four British friends, former university pals — Rafe Spall (Swallows and Amazons), Robert James-Collier, Arsher Ali (Doctor Who), and Sam Troughton (Vera Drake) — are on a hiking weekend in a hilly Swedish wilderness when one of them hurts his knee, badly. But cutting through the woods — the lodge is right on the other side, according to their map — turns out to be, er, a really bad idea.
I’m “biast” (con): I usually don’t find horror movies scary

Rafe Spall stars in an efficient horror film with obvious hints of Deliverance and The Blair Witch Project
The Ritual is an efficient, well-made if programmatic Brit horror, with good effects and a big monstrous reveal intelligently withheld. It is adapted by Joe Barton from a 2011 bestseller by Adam Nevill, and directed by David Bruckner – who worked on the very interesting and creepy compilation movie V/H/S.
A group of guys go on a hiking weekend in a remote Swedish wood – they are Luke (Rafe Spall), Hutch (Rob James-Collier, who deserves more than to be known only as Mr Barrow from Downton Abbey), Phil (Arsher Ali) and Dom (Sam Troughton). They’ve been mates since uni and going away together is a tradition with them. But one of the gang is missing, having been killed during a robbery in a late-night shop after one of their lads’ nights out,...

The standard rules for horror films are pretty simple, and mostly involve staying away from creepy places. Of course, those rules are routinely broken, which leads to all kinds of terror. And if we know anything from horror films, it’s this — stay away from the creepy forest. Of course, no one in “The Ritual” heeds that advice.
The new movie from David Bruckner (“V/H/S,” “Southbound“) stars Rafe Spall, Robert James-Collier, Arsher Ali and Sam Troughton, and follows four pals who go on a hiking trip, and decide to take a shortcut.

Mixing up a bit of witty banter with terrifying scenes, the debut trailer for The Signal’s David Bruckner’s next project, The Ritual, has landed.
Starring Rafe Spall (The Big Short, Life of Pi), Robert James-Collier (Downton Abbey, Spike Island), Arsher Ali (Line of Duty, Four Lions) and Sam Troughton (Robin Hood, Alien vs. Predator), The Ritual tells the story of a group of friends who take on a hiking holiday in honour of a friend who was murdered at the hands of a criminal. What lays ahead of them in a remote Scandinavian forest proves it might not have been the best idea they’ve ever had.
The trailer begins with the two friends in conversation before Rafe Spall dips behind the shelving of a shop in the midsts of a violent robbery. With his friend dying at the hands of one of the robbers,...
