As you know, Rotten Tomatoes rates individual reviews based on a single criterion: for or against the movie. This is more universal than the good old star system, which implies an element of indecision and therefore doubt: what does three out of five stars even mean?
Rotten Tomatoes boils it all down to a binary system – red tomato versus crushed green tomato – that adds up the scores of all reviewers and creates a single rating, making it so convenient to navigate the multitude of TV and movie projects.
Sometimes, however, the opinions of viewers and critics are radically opposite. And one of the clearest examples of this discrepancy is the movie The Boondock Saints, with perhaps the widest gap between critics' and audiences' ratings ever – 26% versus 91%, respectively.

Spoiler Alert: This review reveals details of both Rebel Moon movies.
Slow-motion scenes that sputter story pacing? Check.
Poorly developed characters? Check.
Plot holes bigger than the Milky Way? Check.
… And we’re back with part two of Zack Snyder’s Netflix space opera Rebel Moon -Part Two: The Scargiver. You might not be a shock to hear this, but part two manages to be worse than part one. Its biggest offense? Nothing happening for way too long. The film stars Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Staz Nair, Elise Duffy and Anthony Hopkins as the voice of Jimmy the robot. While this is a capable cast of actors, they have nothing to work with. I wonder if the reason Snyder hasn’t delivered a comprehensible script in some time is because he wears too many hats as writer, producer, director and cinematographer on most of his films?...

“Moving forward, our company will be different.”
That was the vow of Viaplay Group President and CEO Jørgen Madsen Lindemann to shareholders in the troubled European streamer’s latest annual report, which released this morning in Europe and showed huge 2023 losses despite revenue growth.
Viaplay faced extinction last year after struggling to build subs in territories such as the U.S., the Baltics and the UK, and being hit badly by the tough global economy.
However, it has been restructuring under Madsen Lindemann, who was parachuted in midway through the year to set a new course achieved through staff cuts, asset sales and a heavy recap program that reduced shareholder value to almost nothing.
Today, he said the recovery was underway, albeit that the “complexity of exiting” its non-core international markets was holding up several commercial and led to higher than expected losses. “We are dedicated to building businesses in...

Boondock Saints III: Norman Reedus & Sean Patrick Flanery Returning? ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Despite high expectations for a trilogy following the release of the second Boondock Saints film in 2009, the likelihood of its materializing decreased as difficulties arose. However, there is newfound hope with the confirmation of Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery reprising their roles for the third part.
The revival of the 1999 cult classic film is currently in progress. Known for its thrilling sequences and dynamic choreography, this American vigilante action film is set to return. Thunder Road, recognized for producing the John Wick saga, has joined forces with Dragonfly Films to produce the next installment – or installments – in the Saints saga.

Original Boondock Saints stars Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery will both return for a third installment of the franchise, as Deadline reports, reprising their roles as Murphy and Connor MacManus respectively. Despite the consistent casting decisions, however, Troy Duffy, who directed both the original and the 2009 sequel The Boondocks Saints: All Saints Day, will not return to helm the project.
The announcement both affirms and amends a similar report from 2021. That report revealed Reedus and Flanery’s involvement, though Duffy was still set to direct at the time.
Though little has been revealed about the new film’s plot or production timeline, John Wick production house Thunder Road has officially joined current rights holder Dragonfly Films to help bring the sequel to life.

A new take on “The Boondock Saints” is in the works with the 1999 cult film’s original stars Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery reprising their roles as the MacManus Brothers.
Thunder Road Pictures, which produces the “John Wick” franchise and the upcoming “Monkey Man” from Dev Patel, announced it is teaming with the rights holder Dragonfly Films to the original 1999 cult film “The Boondock Saints” to jointly produce what’s being described as a “reimagining” rather than a direct sequel. Dragonfly Films also confirmed the news on its Instagram.
Reedus and Flanery both portrayed the Irish Catholic killers rooting out Boston crime all in the name of the Lord in the original film, and they also returned for the 2009 follow-up film, “The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day.” However, Troy Duffy, the story’s original director and writer, will not direct the new film but will produce it. Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery are both set to return in a brand new Boondock Saints movie from Thunder Road and Dragonfly Films, the report indicates.
The new movie is said to be “a reimagining of the action film franchise.” The report this morning continues, “The story will involve the indoctrination of new Saints.”
Troy Duffy, who directed both the 1999 original movie and its 2009 sequel, will not be returning to direct the third installment. However, Deadline notes in their report that “Duffy plans to write a series of books about the Saints, continuing their story that way.”
In the original Boondock Saints, “Two Irish Catholic brothers (Norman Reedus & Sean Patrick Flanery) become vigilantes and wipe out Boston’s criminal underworld in the name of God.

Exclusive: The rebirth of the 1999 cult favorite film The Boondock Saints is upon us. Thunder Road, the producer behind the John Wick films, has stepped in and joined rights-holder Dragonfly Films to make what they are calling a universe expansion of the action film franchise about the fraternal twin Irish brothers who raise holy hell to rid their Boston hometown of all criminals.
In the current configuration, Troy Duffy will step aside as director after creating and helming the original and the 2009 sequel The Boondock Saints: All Saints Day. Both films starred The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery as the MacManus brothers, with Billy Connolly playing their father.
Reedus and Flanery will reprise their roles, and the search is on for a new director. Duffy plans to write a series of books about the Saints, continuing their story that way.
There might be a renaissance going on for these action franchises,...

If you're a film aficionado of a certain age, these words may immediately conjure imagery of men decked out all in black in a (literally) operatic slow-motion shootout as Willem Dafoe does his best impression of Leonard Bernstein conducting an orchestra. 25 years after its original international release, writer and director Troy Duffy's "The Boondocks Saints" is as much a perfect time capsule of '90s fashion trends and action movie tropes as it is a self-sustaining cult title. As Dafoe recalled in a recent video for Variety, "And I know that only because I'd be any place in the world and people would -- a guy, it was normally a man -- a young man would come up and say, 'Hey, you know what I really like?...

The Step by Step cast reunited at 90s Con on Sunday and remembered the late Suzanna Somers.

“Suzanne gave the most beautiful, thoughtful gifts and she was a person of immense style and glamour in her real life, and I will never forget [that] and I still have them,” Keanan shared (via People).
Lakin said she always admired Somers growing up and watching reruns of Three’s Company.
“Growing up with her and watching her as a woman, as a businesswoman, as someone who was a huge star who had a bright light, who was so gorgeous, who was also so down to Earth and someone I just really admired,” Lakin said. “She was someone that made me think as a young female in Hollywood, you...

Although he only made two fiction features, filmmaker Michael Roemer benefited greatly from an early rediscovery in the 1990s, thanks to the fortuitous unearthing of a film he made in 1969, The Plot Against Harry, a wry, dry comedy starring Martin Priest. His other film, 1964’s Nothing But a Man, is often compared by critics to the slicker, middle-America-friendly films that Sidney Poitier was making during the same era. Almost without exception, film about the minority experience in ’60s America were smoothed-over paeans to “the triumph of the human spirit,” starring or co-starring whites whose presence is required as witnesses, arbiters, and the final, thankful beneficiaries of growth and change. Bland but well-meaning, films like Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? and A Patch of Blue, seeking to instruct the white moviegoer by giving them a diagrammatic path to sociopolitical enlightenment, had a funny habit of discounting, even nullifying, the Black experience.

Frank Grillo knows what he wants.
The erstwhile Crossbones of the MCU has crafted a niche for himself as a contemporary Charles Bronson over the last decade, parlaying mainstream buzz from projects like “The Purge 2” and Mma drama series “Warrior” into a string of superior indie action movies — even if he himself shies away from Bronson comparisons when speaking about his career.
“Not that I’m comparing myself to Charles Bronson, because I couldn’t,” Grillo told IndieWire during a recent interview over Zoom, adding with a laugh, “Charles Bronson never took his shirt off on a soap opera.”
With respect to Grillo, Bronson simply didn’t have the same range. Grillo emerged from a three-year run on “Guiding Light” in the late ’90s to a decade as a working actor before landing a juicy supporting role in the Liam Neeson-starring “The Grey.” Then came 2014 and his role...

The first trailer for Lights Out starring Frank Grillo, Mekhi Phifer, Jaime King, with Dermot Mulroney and Scott Adkins has been released.
In the film, a homeless veteran, Michael “Duffy” Duffield (Grillo), meets a talkative Ex-Con, Max Bomer (Phifer) who notices Duffy’s skills after he gets into a bar fight and offers him a well-paying “job” competing in underground fight clubs. The pair form an unlikely partnership after their first fight and decide to travel to LA so Duffy can atone for his past and Max can pay back a crime boss, Sage Parker (Mulroney). Duffy enters Sage’s fight club and eventually wins, but it also gets him tied up in the crime world and offered jobs he can’t refuse, including one with Sage’s partner and Police officer, Ellen Ridgway (King). The deeper Duffy goes in this world, the more deadly it gets.

Maybe we should all aspire to be as calm as Ingrid (Sophie Okonedo) is in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the Slow Horses Season 3 finale, dropping on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, December 27. The First Desk (the Director-General of MI5) was the one to issue the kill order for anyone who knew about that file that could presumably prove that Sean Donovan (Sope Dirisu) was right that MI5 killed someone he loved for leaking classified intel, and now, Diana (Kristin Scott Thomas) can’t help but remark about the fact that she hasn’t heard from Duffy (Chris Reilly). “He’ll call when he’s contained the situation,” Ingrid says, but Diana corrects that with exactly what she’s set in motion: “You mean when he’s murdered fellow agents at your bidding.” Since they’re talking about Slow Horses, to Ingrid, they’re “mercy killings, putting ...

Ensign Sonya Gomez (Lycia Naff) is probably best known to Trekkies as the character who spilled a cup of hot chocolate on Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) in the second season "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Q Who." In the episode's cold open, Ensign Gomez ordered a cup of her preferred beverage from a food replicator, and was careful to say "please." Lieutenant La Forge (LeVar Burton) pointed out that one needn't say "please" and "thank you" to computers. Gomez then, possessed of nervous chatter, began to tell Laforge about how excited she was to be on the Enterprise. As she exited to put her drink down, she bumped into the captain coming the other way, spilling chocolate all over them both.
Ensign Gomez only appeared on "Next Generation" one other time, in "Samaritan Snare," but was given less to do. Regardless, she stood out. Most Trekkies remember Gomez well...

The Cult have shared two new songs under their Death Cult moniker, “Flesh and Bone” and “C.O.T.A.”
The tracks come after The Cult’s Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy revived the early incarnation of the band for a recent tour. Death Cult originally emerged from Asbury’s first band Southern Death Cult in 1983 once the singer joined forces with Duffy (eventually morphing into The Cult in 1984).
Described as post-punk/deathrock, Death Cult’s sound is a bit murkier and more cryptic than the big stadium-ready bombast Astbury and company injected into The Cult. As heard on “Flesh and Bone,” the band balances subdued instrumentation with harsher crescendos and a feeling of unease, which is even more palpable on the sparse, drum-machine-based “C.O.T.A.” (an acronym for “communion of the animals”).
The new songs are available digitally and on a 7″ vinyl single titled “Death Cult – 8323” that’s included as...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Slow Horses Season 3 Episode 4 “Uninvited Guest.”] River (Jack Lowden) is about to regret saying yes to Ingrid (Sophie Okonedo) on Slow Horses. The First Desk (the Director-General of MI5) enlists him to take Sean Donovan (Sope Dirisu) to a facility to see files he’s so sure will prove that MI5 killed someone he loved for leaking classified intel in exchange for handing over Standish (Saskia Reeves), whom he and his team kidnapped. But then Ingrid tells Duffy (Chris Reilly) that anyone who went inside cannot make it out, given what Sean is really there to see. That means River and Louisa (Rosalind Eleazar). TV Insider spoke with Lowden about River’s Season 3 so far, including that one-man heist he tried to pull off, what’s going on with his grandfather (Jonathan Pryce), and what’s next. Let’s start with River’s attempt to pull off that heist at...

Warning: contains spoilers for Slow Horses series one and two.
If Slow Horses aired on BBC One on Sunday nights instead of streaming on Apple TV+, it would be all anybody was talking about. Based on Mick Herron’s series of novels, it stars Oscar winner Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour) as the world-weary and straight-talking Jackson Lamb, a former MI5 agent who is now living out his days at the head of Slough House, the office building to which disgraced spies (known as “slow horses”) are exiled to do menial grunt work after messing up big time in the field.
As we saw in series one and two, Slough House is frequently the playground for MI5’s Second Desk Diana Taverner, who likes to get them involved in her dirty off-the-books ops and then blame them when it all inevitably goes wrong. And one of the more recent slow horse arrivals,...

Zack Snyder dropped the first official trailer for Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire during Netflix’s Geeked Week 2023. The three-minute trailer focuses on Sofia Boutella as Kora, a former soldier who is called upon to gather fighters to take on the Motherworld.
Director Zack Snyder co-wrote the screenplay with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten. Snyder also serves as a producer along with his wife, Deborah, and Eric Newman and Wesley Coller. Johnstad, Hatten, Bergen Swanson, and Sarah Bowen executive produce.
During a Geeked Week Q&a, Snyder discussed creating the world of Rebel Moon.
“When you’re starting to create canon, you’ve got to be careful not to paint yourself into a corner that you are like, ‘Oh geez, I wish the character could do that, but I guess I can’t now because I’ve set them up in this way.’ So, a lot of...

Starz’s Heels season two episode seven set up the huge showdown between the Duffy Wrestling League and Florida Wrestling Dystopia that will take place in episode eight, the season finale. Episode seven found the Fwd and the Dwl vying for the attention of a Continuum bigwig, with the Fwd getting the upper hand, at least for now. The season’s penultimate episode also saw the Duffy squad pulling together as a family.
And now, the recap:
Ace (Alexander Ludwig) is concentrating on getting his mind, body, and spirit in shape as episode seven begins. But as Ace improves himself, Willie (Mary McCormack) appears to be spiraling down, taking out her anger and frustration on her daughter and husband. She’s been staying late at the Dome every night, and her husband’s fed up with her behavior.

Starz’s Heels season two episode six opens with a brief rundown of what’s happening in the Fwd and Dwl. The wrap-up ends with Ace (Alexander Ludwig) working on a vision board while his mom (correctly) points out that he’s been acting weird recently.
Ace explains that he’s examined his life, and he’s decided he needs room to just reflect and think.
Jack (Stephen Amell), Staci (Alison Luff), and the newly enlightened Ace meet with Brooks Rizzo (Josh Segarra) to discuss his streaming service. After Jack thanks him for making the trek all the way to Duffy, Brooks confirms Continuum needs to grow its subscriber base in the lead-up to a merger with a larger company. Professional wrestling has a huge audience that Continuum would like to tap into.

David Jacobs, who created the smash 1980s primetime soaps Dallas and Knots Landing and was a two-time Emmy nominee for Homefront, died August 20 of Alzheimer’s complications at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, his son said Tuesday. He was 84.
“He had Alzheimer’s for many years, and recently he had recurring infections that led to his death,” Aaron Jacobs told Deadline today.
Born on August 12, 1939, in Baltimore, Jacobs started out writing nonfiction books and magazine articles before pivoting to TV, penning episodes of series including Family, Chicago Story and The Blue Knight. He went on to create Dallas and its spinoff Knots Landing, with the former bowing in 1978 on CBS.
By its second season, Dallas was a certified smash, finishing the 1979-80 frame at No. 6 among all primetime series. Starring Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, Patrick Duffy and others, the ensemble drama about a Texas oil family became a...

Before Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy achieved mainstream success as The Cult, the duo operated under the name Death Cult, performing a more primitive style of gothic post-punk.
Astbury originally formed the band Southern Death Cult in 1981, before the singer joined forces with Duffy to launch Death Cult in 1983. They would morph into The Cult in 1984, but Astbury and Duffy haven’t forgotten their origins. The duo is reviving the early incarnation of their band for a one-off Death Cult performance on October 23rd at the The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles, followed by a series of shows in the UK.
Cold Cave are set to provide support for the LA gig, with general tickets going on sale Friday (August 18th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster. Alternatively, and if the show sells out, you can find tickets via StubHub.

Christchurch, Aug 14 (Ians) Fast bowler Blair Tickner has withdrawn from New Zealand’s T20I squad for the upcoming three-match series against UAE, due to familial reasons. Duffy, who last played for New Zealand during the tour of India in January, will replace Tickner in the squad and travel to Dubai later on Monday, New Zealand Cricket (Nzc) said in a statement.
Tickner was due to join the squad in Dubai following his daughter’s birth late last week; however, will instead stay in New Zealand to be alongside his wife.
“We’re a family environment and after speaking with Blair we fully support him being at home with Sarah and young Florence. The birth of a child is a special time and we’re glad to be able to support Blair in being at home.”

Starz’s Heels season two episode three is titled “Discord,” but a more appropriate title would be “Redemption.” Jack sees the light and realizes he’s his own worst enemy, while Ace has a creepy nightmare visit from his dead dad that sets him back on the path to Duffy.
We kick off episode three with a brief flashback to a young Jack getting a whipping from his mom for snatching a piece of cake. Apparently, the incident left a lasting impression and was just one example of the abuse he suffered at her hands.
Flash-forward to current events, and Jack (Stephen Amell) pays a brief visit to his mom’s house to grab her phone and to announce that he’s concluded that if he and Ace kill each other, it’ll be all her fault.
And speaking of Ace...

Before diving into a recap of Starz’s Heels season two episode two, let’s take a brief look at what went down in the season two premiere.
Season two episode one spent most of the hour with a flashback to the events immediately following Tom Spade’s suicide. Heels fans learned more about Jack and Ace’s relationship, and that Ace (Alexander Ludwig) finally convinced Jack (Stephen Amell) to allow him to enter the ring for the first time. Ace made his wrestling debut during a special one-night-only tribute to his father’s memory.
It turned out that Ace is a natural in the ring.
Episode one also briefly caught up with the celebration in the aftermath of the season one final’s championship match at the South Georgia State Fair that found Bunny transforming from valet to belt holder.

Brothers Chapman and Maclain Way, the sons of screenwriter Rick Way, grandsons of actor Bing Russell, and nephews to Kurt Russell (that one you know), have some obvious Hollywood pedigree. They also have a Primetime Emmy for 2018’s “Wild Wild Country” and Sundance status for 2014’s “The Battered Bastards of Baseball,” both of which were distributed by Netflix.

“Untold: Volume 3” debuts with a doc about the rise of yet another pair of bothers, Jake Paul and Logan Paul. “The Problem Child,” directed by Andrew Renzi is Jake’s (pictured above) story. That’s the way you begin a season.
We knew how Tom Spade died, and we knew how it affected his sons, but we never knew what happened in the immediate aftermath.
With Jack and Ace once again at odds, Heels Season 2 Episode 1 gives us a peek into how Jack began leading the Dwl and how Ace became its leading man.
It’s a perfect time to go down that dark and winding road.
Jack made a terrible mistake putting his own feelings and hopes for the Dwl’s success before his brother.
Sure, siblings do that kind of stuff on the regular, but not in the wake of a father’s suicide that had already threatened to tear the family apart at the seams.
Ace has been reeling more than anyone else in the family. He not only found his father dead, but he was home when it happened.

Sports dramas are familiar to the television landscape, and are often beloved. Fans have leaned into series like “Glow,” “All American,” and even the mid-2000s cult classic “Friday Night Lights.” Yet it’s not the competitive action that keeps audiences pulled in weekly, or amid hours-long binges: It’s the characters and the worlds carefully crafted around them.
It’s been nearly two years since the Season 1 finale of the Michael Waldron-created series “Heels” aired. Set in the fictional town of Duffy, Georgia, “Heels” follows brothers Jack (Stephen Amell) and Ace Spade (Alexander Ludwig), the stars of the Duffy Wrestling League (Dwl). The league and its dilapidated dome are the life’s work of the Spade brothers’ late father, Tom (David James Elliot). Jack has struggled to keep Tom’s fledgling dream and business alive in his absence.
Season 1 began unpacking the brothers’ deep-seated rivalry, one that was...

When Is P-Valley Season 3 Coming? Well, after a successful second season, P-Valley joyfully received a renewal, ensuring fans more enthralling stories centered around their beloved characters and the unresolved drama.
While the lives of pole dancers and strippers remain taboo in many societies, there is a growing audience interest in understanding their experiences and the unique dynamics of their niche business.
P-Valley’s success follows the footsteps of the 2018 Allblk Original Docuseries Naked Hustle, which explored the convergence of hip-hop music and stripping culture.
Similarly, the 2019 film Hustlers, written and directed by Lorene Scafaria and featuring Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, and Lili Reinhart, captivated audiences with its glossy and dramatic narrative of female protagonists reclaiming wealth from the affluent and empowering working women.
Created by Katori Hall (known for Tina) and produced by Khaliah Neal (noted for The Last Black Man in San Francisco), P-Valley draws inspiration from these examples,...
