Similarly to this year’s installment in the famed survival horror series, Capcom is once again using motion capture technology for Resident Evil 3‘s main cast. Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira will be brought to life by real emotive humans rather than be crudely animated and once again, it seems, the developer has made a perfect choice.
A great deal of post-reveal discussion surrounding next year’s highly anticipated remake has centered around Jill’s redesign, with many fans noting the character’s drastic visual diversion from previous iterations. Historically, Canadian actress Julia Voth has served as the character model and inspiration for Jill’s appearance, a role that now belongs to another.
In revealing their involvement in the project over on Instagram, Russian model Sasha Zotova explains how she’s been honored to play such a cult character, going on to offer thanks to supportive fans for their “kindness and politeness.

Resident Evil cosplay came full circle earlier this week when actor Julia Voth decided to bring a certain S.T.A.R.S. officer to life. This may be the pinnacle of Jill Valentine cosplay, folks. Voth, as you may already know, is the real human being who portrayed Capcom’s leading lady in the GameCube remake of the original […]...

We've featured a couple of pieces of deviantART user bittermarch's work here on Cbm (Natalie Dormer as Captain Marvel and Lupita Nyong'o as Storm), and this latest piece turns Julia Voth into Spider-Woman. She may not be quite as well known as the two mentioned above, but there's no denying that she looks perfect as Jessica Drew! It's not clear which studio holds the rights to the character - due to her ties with The Avengers and the obvious similarities to Spider-Man in terms of the name and powers - but we'll hopefully see Spider-Woman brought to the big screen sooner rather than later! Would you guys like to see Julia Voth play Spider-Woman?...

When Canadian actress Julia Voth is on the set of City TV’s sitcom Package Deal, there are constant changes in the script and direction. That’s when she pulls out her mobile phone to access the app, Stop Acting! The Audition Class with Margie Haber. "I use it as a quick reference when the story, jokes or relationship with guest stars change," says Voth. "Even on live audience shoot days, when we had 300 people in our audience I could adjust on-the-fly if something wasn't working or I wasn't feeling it." Haber has been teaching and coaching

I saw the original 9-minute short for “Project Sera” when Benjamin Howdeshell premiered it online in 2012. It’s essentially a zombie short with some cool visuals. Howdeshell has now teamed up with IGN to bring you a six-episode original web-series (about 7-8 minutes each) based on that short, starring the short’s original star, Julia Voth (of “Bitch Slap” fame). I’m not sure where they’re going to go with this series — a planned feature length film, perhaps? That actually wouldn’t be a bad idea. Voth, besides being completely gorgeous, is really, really good in the asskicking role. Check out the first three episodes for the web series “Project Sera” below. New episodes will be released every Wednesday to their YouTube Channel. Project: S.E.R.A. follows Gillian Eames (Julia Voth) and Lt. Riggins (Derek Theler) as they race against the clock to stop the black market sale of a...

When it comes to making zombies, it always seems so much worse when mindless raving berserkers are created by government tomfoolery. Project: S.E.R.A. doesn't feature zombies in the traditional sense, but this version of the undead monster could be worse.
Written and directed by Benjamin Howdeshell, Project: S.E.R.A. stars Julia Voth (Jill Valentine from the Resident Evil video games, Bitch Slap), Victor Webster (Scorpion King III, Mutant X) and Dennis Keiffer (stunt actor from GI Joe, Superman, Green Hornet) interwoven into some back alley dealings that have a decorated United States general being treated less than regally and eventually zombified.
The film is shot beautifully with some great action and kick-ass F/X work. For more info be sure to "like" Project: S.E.R.A. on Facebook and follow @ProjectSera on Twitter. Check it out!

It’s hard not to think “Resident Evil” when you add gun-toting babe to any zombie movie. The fact that star Julia Voth (one of the three lovely ladies of “Bitch Slap”) looks like one of the gun-happy ladies of the “Resident Evil” movie franchise on the film’s poster sure doesn’t hurt. Or was that the point? (Also, Voth has previously provided the voice of Jill Valentine in the 2002 “Resident Evil” game, so there’s that, too.) But don’t let that stop you from enjoying Ben Howdeshell’s 10-minute short film “Project Sera”, which features one of those fast-moving “infected” zombies that are so popular nowadays. The idea, apparently, is to make the short film, gin up some interest, and turn it into a feature-length movie. A young woman wakes up in an abandoned warehouse as armed soldiers torture her father with an experimental biological weapon. Besides Voth,...

Julia Voth may be one of the best-kept secrets in geekdom today. But after watching the fetching actress play Jill Valentine in the Resident Evil video games and deliver a fun, sexy performance in the recent grindhouse-style free-for-all Bitch Slap, I'd happily pay money just to watch Voth read the phone book. Fortunately, the new short film Project: S.E.R.A. has her doing a lot more than that, and you can watch it now -- right after the jump. Written and directed by Benjamin Howdeshell, Project: S.E.R.A. stars Julia Voth, Victor Webster (Scorpion King III, Mutant X), and Dennis Keiffer (stunt actor in G.I. Joe, Superman, Green Hornet). And it certainly looks as good as most of today's action features. So...

Dean is dreaming, Sam (Jared Padalecki) is exercising and Dean's on the road. So we see him naked too! Sam's been with a pro, (Julia Voth) which he wouldn't really do if he was the 'old' Sam. He pays her and where was Dean's tattoo as Sam still has his? Sam throws her card away - well he can hook up with anyone and he does that as routine now. Sam is in Pennsylvania and Dean tells him it's been one and a half days, since they were just on a case, Sam likes to work. Dean: "Who died and made you boss?" That's a loaded question for this show considering the number of deaths of lead characters and others. So don't answer that Sam.

"The concept was to have a large, creepy building where each floor served as a ring of hell, and Satan was in a chest freezer in the basement morgue. The concept was vague and lacked a clear protagonist and antagonist (hell is a force of antagonism, not an antagonist itself), and by nature The Inferno was a passive, observational story, but something about it felt right. After a bunch of teases on a hidden blog, filmmaker Sridhar Reddy is gearing up for Afm by releasing the first official plot details and teaser trailer for Lilith, which stars Julia Voth as a woman traveling through the several levels of Hell. After a night of surreal terror, Sarah is led by her visions of her dead sister into a hellish labyrinth populated by bloodthirsty demons and bedeviled ghosts from her past. While we’re unsure if director Sridhar M. Reddy’s Lilith will have any Biblical connections, the name is curious enough to evoke the real first wife of Adam (sorry, Eve, you’re wife number 2). Either way, on the official Tumblr, there’s some creepy and neat looking stills and concept art.

If you have Netflix and are a horror fan in need of something to watch this Labor Day weekend, one look at this gargantuan list I compiled of the new terror titles Netflix has added for instant streaming in just the first three days of this month should keep you busy until Labor Day next year. You'll find something for everyone, from older titles to recent releases, famous to obscure, classic to not-so-classic, monsters to maniacs - you name it.
For the record, I considered compiling this list in alphabetical order or by year of the film's release, but then I realized I had already spent well over an hour just sorting through the massive catalogue of titles Netflix has now made available for instant streaming and realized Labor Day would be over by the time I finished arranging this list in any kind of order. Ready? Here you go.

Starring: Julia Voth, Erin Cummings, America Olivo, Lucy Lawless, Ron Melendez, Kevin Sorbo and Zoe Bell
Director: Rick Jacobson
August 21, 2010:The opening credits sequence of this film is all about women wrestling with each other in films of yesteryear, while the credits themselves are sarcastic indicators of what’s to com. The film then begins with a car roaring into a remote desert encampment, its engine and the pounding music battling for control of the soundtrack. It was a word that was censored from the Indian screens less than a decade back. But the sign of the times is that not only is the word ‘bitch’ not ‘beeped’, but a lot of other scenes that would have been simply unacceptable make it to the screen in this film.
Sadly, neither the plot, nor the glamorous three women or the curse words used have the stamp of originality written on it.
Three vixen women, in the middle of a ‘hot’.

Stars: Julia Voth, Erin Cummings, America Olivo | Written and Directed by Rick Jacobson
Three badass chicks – stripper Trixie (Voth), corporate powerbroker Hel (Cummings)and psychotic drug-runner Camero (Olivo) – crash at a remote desert hideaway with a plan to steal $200 million in diamonds from a ruthless underworld kingpin. But as allegiances change and bitter truths are revealed, the girls’ plan spirals dangerously out of control, forcing them to face a variety of villains much worse than themselves and leaving the very fate of the world in the balance.

There is a certain kind of character often found in genre B movies and she is the ass kicking, large chested, confident woman. The most iconic example of this is probably Tura Satana’s character, Varla, in Russ Meyer’s Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! Female characters like Varla may appear on the surface to be little more than titillation for a predominantly male audience in films that are generally grouped under the banner of ‘exploitation’ but the sexual politics at play and the underlying subtexts are more complex than this simplistic assessment. One only needs take a dip in the vast ocean of femminist and post-femminist critiques of these films and their characters to realise that they have a lot more to offer than mere titillation.
Following in this, I would say, grand tradition comes Bitch Slap, directed by Rick Jacobson. Although the film does not perhaps reach the heights...

Erin Cummings (Hel), America Olivo (Camero) and Julia Voth (Trixie)
Bitch Slap is bad. And, pretty much, that’s the point. The only question is if it’s bad-bad, good-bad or a very, very bad girl?
Billed as an homage to the B-movie exploitation flicks of yore, it’s less of a movie and more of an excuse for sexy, ridiculous and violent things to happen on screen – preferably all at once. Depending on how wedded you are to cohesive narratives, you will find this totally unacceptable or completely awesome.
The premise is a simple one: three foxy ladies head to the desert in search of a kingpin’s hidden stash of $200 million in diamonds. We are introduced to calculating ringleader Hel (Erin Cummings), unstable muscle Camero (America Olivo) and helpless stripper Trixie (Julia Voth) via their décolletage. No, really.
Filmed with a nudge-nudge and a wink, the scene both...

Remember when Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez were making their Grindhouse double feature of Death Proof and Planet Terror? They were so excited about reviving this seemingly neglected style of cinema, which died when cheap local theaters with a small screen gave way to multiplexes owned by large corporations. These large corporations answered to boards and investors thus instilling an arbitrary moral code that forbade them from showing cheaply made exploitation flicks filled with gratuitous sex, nudity and violence. Nevermind that this business model wasn't as profitable as dedicating multiple screens to the latest blockbuster. Tarantino and Rodriguez had a good idea when they made Grindhouse, even if the two films had a few serious issues (Death Proof's dialogue was indulgent, Planet Terror was supersaturated with genre-atypical special effects). Bitch Slap doesn't make these mistakes.

Last weekend, I had the good fortune to share drinks and chat with the stars of Bitch Slap, the exploitation homage from writer-director Rick Jacobson about three kickass beauties out to steal a fortune from an underworld boss. A few days ago, I posted my interview with stars Julia Voth and Erin Cummings (who play, respectively, Trixie and Hel, two of the three central women). After the jump, check out my chat with the film's other stars: Friday the 13th's America Olivo (who plays the third woman, Camero) and Minae Noji (who plays their deadly yo-yo slinging nemesis, Kinki), as well as legendary stunt woman Zoe Bell (of Grindhouse, Kill Bill and Xena fame). There's been a couple of exploitation homages in recent...

Last weekend, I hit the DVD launch party at Sushi Dan on Sunset for Bitch Slap, Spartacus: Blood and Sand director Rick Jacobson's homage to the exploitation films of the '60s and '70s (which hit DVD this Tuesday, March 2). The film features a trio of beautiful women -- pictured above (from left to right) they are: Hel (played by Erin Cummings), Trixie (played by Julia Voth), and Camero (played by America Olivo). Together, they plot to steal 200 million in diamonds from an underworld kingpin. In real life, any one of the film's stars is hot enough to make a grown man willingly fork over 200 mil and then melt like a Fudgsicle in July. And yours truly had to interview two of these ladies – Voth and...

From the 1950s through the 1970s many a producer could make a nice career out of producing low budget exploitation films. Roger Corman turned his studio into a training ground and provided us with a generation of terrific filmmakers. Many who make films today were heavily influenced by these films and Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez paid homage with their Grindhouse extravaganza.
Exploitation movies are critic-proof. They will find their audiences thanks to the copious amounts of blood, senseless violence, and frequent displays of cleavage. But, for the most part, their time has come and gone as roadhouse promotions and drive-in theatres have gone the way of the nickelodeon. As a result, you have to admire anyone who sets out to make one these days.

Take all the class and sophistication of a glamour model photo shoot, add a silly crime caper storyline into the mix, lastly sprinkle liberally with a whole lot of over the top violence and you have everything you need to know about Bitch Slap, Rick Jacobson’s “homage” to the exploitation genre of the 50s - 70s. If lewd, crude, tongue in cheek - boobs and blood - exploitation cinema is your thing (you know who you are) then Bitch Slap should go straight onto your must see list. Bitch slap goes on sale March 22nd. The plot follows three badass babes – stripper Trixie, corporate powerbroker Hel and psychotic drug-runner Camero – as they crash at a remote desert hideaway with a plan to...

Now that Rick Jacobson's cheeky neo-cult film Bitch Slap has landed in the larger American film markets, it seems like the right time to post up a conversation I had with one of the leading ladies some time after the film launched at the Toronto International Film Festival. Forthright and charming, Julia Voth is about as far from her character, the demure vixen Trixie as one could imagine (although a subtle bit of nervousness only adds to her appeal).
Onward.
Kurt Halfyard How did [Director] Rick Jacobson envision Trixie to you? How much was the script and how far could you go off script with the character.
Julia Voth: Rick said, "Do what your guts tells you to do. Outside of the script, nothing was over the top. Go as far as you you want." It was so awesome to have that kind of trust and confidence placed in...

Interview by Stacie Ponder
Given my enthusiastic response to the film, when the ladies of Bitch Slap walked into the interview room it was a little difficult for me not to turn into some awful parody of that old Chris Farley character. "Ooh, ooh, that part? Where you punched her in the boob? That was awesome. And that one line was so funny- can you say that one line? Man, I liked this movie. And then? When you're all wailing on each other? Ummm...you're pretty." Thankfully, I managed a quick moment of meditation to focus my mind so I could actually, you know, ask some questions of actresses Erin Cummings, America Olivo, and Julia Voth...oh yeah, and stunt coordinator Zoe Bell...

Bitch Slap casts Julia Voth as the dream girl of both men and women. No arguments here. Out in the desert, Trixie (Voth) is out of her element wearing a shiny gold dress.
Julia Voth Gives a Bitch Slap
.The pushup bras were the worst,. Voth said. .We went through so many, because I had to do the clear straps. It gets so hot and then there was so much padding that it got heavy and they would stretch out. So every couple of days we had to change the straps because my boobs would go from here to here in the afternoon. There was so much stuffed in there and then there was heating pads to keep me warm and actual chicken cutlets that we put in there..

There's a line somewhere between sex-positive feminism and meathead objectification, but fuck if I know where it is, or what side of the line Bitch Slap falls on. Is it Ok to embrace a movie that features three kick-ass, gash-bashing, large-chested, cooterlicious women who can throw an elbow, blast a machine gun, and partake in each other's clam bake? Or should I feel bad about it because it's titillating, because it's red-meat soft-porn with explosions, and because three women who keep talking about how big their dicks are engaged in a sloppy, glistening water bucket fight before later shredding each other's clothes off with fists, teeth, and nails? I mean, they do kick in a lot of hyper-masculine teeth and dog-pound the shit out of the leering limp dicks before they visited each other's poot-tang valley. That's some riot grrrl shit right there; it's gotta count for something, right?

The problem with the "exploitation" label is that it's used so liberally that the viewer rarely knows what to expect from a film boasting that it's oh so grindhouse. Will the film feature naughty nuns fucking each other with crucifixes, or Nazi prison wardens torturing naked chicks? Bikers, cannibals, or biker-cannibals? When you're a female (or, to qualify, a female who cares about the portrayals of women in film) even more questions arise- most notably, will the movie be so offensive that my vagina itself will grab a megaphone and stage some sort of protest? Should you be wrestling with any of these issues before checking out Bitch Slap, well, you can rest easy. In fact, rather...
