We haven’t even reached the voting stage for the current installment of So You Think You Can Dance, and I’m about to do something profoundly presumptuous and undeniably stupid: In the wake of Thursday night’s telecast announcing the Season 8 Top 20 — a closely matched group that at first glance appears to be extraordinarily talented — I’ve decided to rest my neck on the guillotine and rank the contestants in order from least- to most-likely to win.
“It’s too early,” you say, and you are probably right. What’s more, a Top 20 ranking flies in the face of...

"So You Think You Can Dance" executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe made a stunning announcement on Monday (March 29), outlining the major changes coming to the dance series this season: Not only will there be just 10 finalists chosen in Vegas, but those finalists will be partnered with a new "Sytycd" alum each week of the competition.
Lythgoe promised to reveal which of the show's "all-stars" have signed on to return via Twitter and he wasn't lying.
"I am thrilled that representing the various dance genres of Popping, Locking, Krump etc in the All-Stars Dance-Pool from Season 4 is Twitch," Lythgoe tweeted Tuesday morning.
No surprise there, considering Stephen "tWitch" Boss -- who is starring in the upcoming "Step Up 3D" and "Stomp the Yard 2" films -- was easily one of the most likable and talented contestants ever to grace the "So You Think You Can Dance" stage and was clearly...

Nigel Lythgoe is announcing big changes at "So You Think You Can Dance" this season.
All week he has been tweeting out some pretty major rule changes to the "Sytycd" world.
Via Nigel's twitter account:
**First rule change. Only one dancer will leave the competition each week and not two. Many more changes to come by the end of this week.
**Another rule change for Sytycd this coming Season. The partners will change every single week.
**This Season will not have a top 20. The pieces are falling into place. More tomorrow.
We're doing a conference call with Nigel on Monday, March 29, so hopefully we can get some clarification about these rules. No top 20? What does that mean? More dancers? Less?
And as for switching partners every week, we have to think that could be detrimental to the taller women or shorter men. There's a reason that someone short like Season...

America's favorite dancers are shaking things up with one of America's favorite talkers. No, Tyra Banks isn't a last-minute addition to Dancing With the Stars. The Top 10 dancers from season five of So You Think You Can Dance—yes, that includes winner Jeanine Mason and that adorable Evan Kasprzak—took a break from their tour rehearsals to help Ellen DeGeneres kick off the seventh season of her show. Let's not forget the hilarity that ensued earlier this summer when the shimmying funnygirl joined Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy at the judges table on Sytycd. She sang all their praises and even delivered a bad joke about carpentry and nailing the routine. Well, apparently, the...

Jeanine Mason was named America's Favorite Dancer on the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance. Brandon Bryant came in second, Evan Kasprzak came in third and Kayla Radomski took fourth place.
Jeanine, an 18 year-old contemporary dancer from Florida, shined more and more each week throughout the competition. In the finale, her solo that brought the judges to their feet. Jeanine says she definitely thought Brandon had won and was ready to congratulate him before they announced her as the winner.
In the end, it was Jeanine who danced off with the cash prize of $250,000, the title of America’s Favorite Dancer and a cover feature in the November issue of Dance Spirit Magazine.
“This has been the craziest time of my life, but in the moments when I thought I

Did anyone see this one coming? Not until this week, I'm almost certain. For the first half of season five of "So You Think You Can Dance," Jeanine Mason, an 18-year-old contemporary dancer from Florida, was mostly known as the partner of pop-and-locking phenom Phillip Chbeeb. Sure, she's been a lively, funny and strong dancer the whole time — and managed to wow the judges with her hip-hop, tango and jive skills, long before picking her own style more than a month after the season began. That's when, finally, she and partner Jason Glover made jaws drop with a beautiful, sexy performance (complete with lip-lock), choreographed by season-two vet Travis Wall. She showed that she could turn off that quirky, 1,000-watt smile and embody whatever other emotion the dance called for.
Still, it looked like powerful Brandon Bryant or Kayla "White Lightning" "Beautiful Lines" Radomski could do no wrong.

With a record-breaking 21.6 million votes cast for the finalists, Jeanine Mason came out on top in what was the biggest finale for Fox's summer hit So You Think You Can Dance. In front of more than 3,000 screaming fans Thursday, the 18-year-old contemporary wonder from Miami, Fla., beat out one of the toughest, diverse and most talented final fours the show has ever seen (Brandon Bryant, Kayla Radomski and Evan Kasprzak), taking home the $250,000 in prize money, as well as a cover shot on Dance Spirit magazine. "When [host Cat Deeley] said 'Jeanine,' it was the slowest pronunciation of my name I had ever heard," Mason, who said she was still numb from head to toe, gushed to People backstage after the show. Last night when Cat Deeley announced that Broadway Boy Evan Kasprzak would had made it to the finale over Gentle Giant Ade Obayomi, you could almost hear the collective groan of disappointment echo across America. Of course, amidst those heavy sighs and WTFs, squees from Evan's obviously devoted voters rang out. I certainly heard what you guys were saying and you were none to pleased that voter's picked up the phone for Evan and not Ade. When I asked you via a poll last night if America got it right, 55% of you said "Everybody but Evan."
While I see where you're all coming from, last night's results didn't surprise me at all. And while I think it's easy to blame America and the the fact that non-dancers vote and you all certainly cast plenty of blame on us all, I hold the judges and producers accountable for Ade's elimination. Two dancers had to leave the "So You Think You Can Dance" floor on Thursday, July 30 night, leaving only four to compete for the title. Ade Obayomi and Melissa Sandvig were eliminated in the eighth week after taking the lowest votes from the judges as well as American audience.
The four finalists thus are Kayla Radomski, Brandon Bryant, Jeanine Mason and Evan Kasprzak. Jeanine was the first to get the ticket to the finale. Thus, Kayla had to fight for her position against Melissa on the solo pieces before she advanced.
Another deliberation revealed that Brandon was through to the finale. Evan and Ade reprised their Wednesday solos but only Evan managed to pass the judges' vote to join Brandon, Jeanine and Kayla in the Top 4. Next week, two will be eliminated, one becomes a runner-up and the ultimate winner will be crowned.

The remaining 6 people of "So You Think You Can Dance" were fighting for their survival on Wednesday, July 29. Jeanine Mason, Ade Obayomi, Melissa Sandvig, Evan Kasprzak, Kayla Radomski and Brandon Bryant performed three types of dance: group, pair and solo.
First up was the Top 3 boys group routine choreographed by Sonya Tayeh. It was described as "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and Evan got the praise from guest judge Lil C for not being swallowed in between Ade and Brandon.
The show continued with the first duo of the night, Jeanine and Ade, doing samba choreographed by Louis Van Amstel. The judges generally disliked the routine which was supposed to be sexy and hot. Mary Murphy pointed out that the samba roll failed and it felt novice.

Don't hate us, but after watching tonight's Sytycd top-six performance show, we're officially gunning for one of the remaining dancers. On Wednesday, July 22, "So You Think You Can Dance" was visited by a special guest judge who knows little of the dancing techniques but adds a fresh perspective in the art of performing. Ellen DeGeneres, who has been raving about her appearance on the dance show through her Twitter, sat on the judging panel to give comments on the performances of the Top 8.
After reaching the Top 10 stage, the remaining contestants are paired at random. But they got the chance to also dance in the large group and display their solo piece after the pair dancing. The show opener on Wednesday saw former contestant Travis Wall choreographing the group dance which Nigel Lythgoe described as "Very Lady GaGa".
The first couple of the night was Evan Kasprzak and Janette Manrara who danced Jazz. The judges wanted more from Evan, reasoning that he was not rough and 'oomph' enough to balance his partner.

Usually, by this point in the season of "So You Think You Can Dance," there are at least two very clear favorites and then a few dark-horse dancers waiting in the wings. As far as I can remember, past winners Nick Lazzarini, Joshua Allen, Benji Schwimmer and Sabra Johnson won our hearts immediately with their surprisingly wide range of talent and adorable personalities. But when the top 10 performed this week, I was still absolutely stumped about who will win the title of "America's Favorite Dancer."
On the other hand, I can't be the only one who knew Hawaiian heartthrob Kupono Aweau and perky cutie Randi Evans were not long for this competition. Kupono's looks aside, he just doesn't match up in physical strength (witness the way he struggled through his lifts in this week's paso doble), and as Nigel Lythgoe said a few weeks ago, he...
