Comedian Russell Brand will produce and star in a new “political” comedy, The President Stole My Girlfriend, reported THR this week.
Warner Bros. acquired the script from writer Matt Portenoy, who is yet to have any of his scripts produced. Portenoy did, however, perform a well-received rewrite on the Porky’s remake which is currently in development, and scripted a segment for the comedy anthology Movie 43, which stars Emma Stone and Griffin Dune.
Whilst the exact plot of The President Stole My Girlfriend is unknown, Brand commented to THR that, “In this movie, the president steals the girlfriend of a sexy hippie—me, obviously. It was inspired by the night I naively invited [Warner Bros. president] Jeff Robinov for dinner.”
Brand, who made his film debut in Forgetting Sarah Marshall as rockstar Aldous Snow, who he again played in Get Him To The Greek, has recently wrapped a role in Adam Shankman’s musical Rock of Ages.

Russell Brand has yet to find the perfect vehicle for his unique skill set. The Arthur remake sounded like it had potential, but something got lost in the execution. His co-starring turn in Forgetting Sarah Marshall comes the closest to capturing Brand.s quasi-drunken, devil-may-care comedy, but he.s still looking for a feature film that can sustain his particular energies. Maybe it will be The President Stole My Girlfriend, a comedy The Hollywood Reporter says Brand plans to produce and star in for Warner Bros. Screenwriter Matt Portenoy penned the story of a .sexy hippie. (in Brand.s own words) who loses his girlfriend to our nation.s leader. As if you couldn.t tell that from the title. "It was inspired by the night I naively invited [Warners president] Jeff Robinov for dinner," Brand jokes. Great line. Portenoy is the talk of the town as of late, having ...

We don't think any country song has ever covered this kind of scenario.
Russell Brand will tell a romantic and possibly classified tale of woe as he's set to produce and star in"The President Stole My Girlfriend."

If this particular situation actually happened to Russell Brand in real life, we wouldn't be surprised.
"President" was written by Matt Portenoy, who recently did a well-received rewrite on the "Porky's" remake that's currently in development. Portenoy also wrote a segment for "Movie 43," a Peter Farrelly-produced comedy anthology.
