In the post-apocalyptic horror world of The Walking Dead, relationships can be fleeting and rare. Daryl Dixon, the beloved loner played by Norman Reedus, has suffered from a fair amount of grief and heartbreak throughout the series. So when a potential love interest came knocking in the form of Leah (played by Lynn Collins) in season 10, fans were thrilled as well as hesitant.
Can a man hardened by loss and survival find space for romance in a world overrun by walkers? Well, regrettably, following his brief on-screen romance with Collins in season 10, Reedus had to deal with the wrath of The Walking Dead fans, who were gripped by intense emotions.

Apart from having a loyal fan base of MonsterVerse enthusiasts, the film also sees deaf actor Kaylee Hottle reprising her central role from 2021’s Godzilla Vs Kong. In a review, Rolling Stone warned moviegoers that the 2021 Marvel movie Eternals “will bore you to death.” Moviegoers were somewhat kinder, giving the picture a solid C+, or 77 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and they spent close to $165 million domestically to see it, according to The Numbers. But the stigma of being associated with one of the meh-est Marvel movies weighed heavily on one of its stars, Kumail Nanjiani, who entered therapy when critics turned on it.

Exclusive: One of the longest business partnerships in Hollywood is coming to an end. Lisa Kasteler will be retiring from Wolf Kasteler after steering the agency alongside founder Annett Wolf into a PR powerhouse for the past 32 years.
Kasteler will be leaving at the end of the month, winding down a 50-year career in PR, to become Executive Director of the Matthew Perry Foundation. Perry was a client of Kasteler — and the Wolf Kasteler agency — for 28 years until his sudden death Oct. 28 at the age of 54.
Before his passing, Perry had planned to start a foundation to help others overcome drug and alcohol abuse, which he had hoped to be his legacy. His friends and loved ones are now carrying on that legacy with the recently launched Matthew Perry Foundation, which is committed to identifying addiction as a disease, addressing stigmas that prevent individuals from seeking and accessing care, and...

Upon its debut, ‘Eternals’ signaled a shift in the MCU’s direction. Despite the film facing mixed reviews and box office challenges, it was often praised for its ambition, though criticized for introducing elements that weren’t further explored. While some viewers found it refreshing, blending cosmic and mythological themes, others felt it fell short. Despite the uncertainties, there are rumors from a reliable source, Daniel Richtman, suggesting that an ‘Eternals’ sequel is in the early stages of development.

Upon its release, ‘Eternals’ marked the change of direction in the MCU, and despite the movie receiving mixed reviews and bombing at the box office, it was often described as ambitious and sometimes incoherent due to many elements introduced, which were subsequently never used again.
Some viewers considered the movie a breath of fresh air and appreciated the themes that mixed cosmic themes with mythologies, but some felt that the movie didn’t quite hit the mark. Still, it seems that ‘Eternals’ was ambitious enough to warrant itself a sequel. Nothing has been confirmed so far, but a source of reliable scoops and leaks, Daniel Richtman, claimed that the sequel to the movie is in early development.

Starz is not moving forward with its previously announced Ava DuVernay series. Joshua Jackson and Lauren Ridloff were set to a star and executive producer the project.
The decision to pull the plug came down to DuVernay stepping away from the project, an insider familiar with the decision told TheWrap. This happened shortly shortly after the end of her overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group in May.
The series had begun filming in March, but production was put on hold in May due to the WGA Strike.
The half-hour drama, which was about the romance between two “wildly different”people, did not yet have a title.
The logline for the show was: “One person is ambitious, while the other is restless. One is ready to commit, while the other debates the merits of relationships. One is Black and one is white. One is deaf and one is not. Though wildly different,...

Ava DuVernay’s romantic drama series, which landed a three-year script-to-series commitment in May 2022, is not moving forward at Starz, Deadline has confirmed.
The series had begun filming in Wilmington, N.C., in March but was paused in May due to the WGA strike. It was to star Joshua Jackson and Lauren Ridloff, who also executive produced, and followed two polar opposites who become intertwined in a love affair that turns their worlds – and those of everyone around them – upside down.
Within the past month or so, Starz made a similar decision not to go forward with The Venery of Samantha Bird, which also had paused production in May due to the strikes with two episodes left to film, and also canceled Heels, Run The World and Blindspotting after two seasons each.

In the last three years, Joshua Jackson has played a husband and father with his home life in chaos in Little Fires Everywhere, a murderous surgeon in Dr. Death and, now, adulterer and accused murderer Dan Gallagher — the role originated by Michael Douglas in 1987’s Fatal Attraction — in the Paramount+ series adaptation of the film that debuted at the end of April.

The Writers Guild of America 2023 strike is continuing to make a dent in upcoming Hollywood projects.
The strike began May 2, with multiple productions halting in solidarity with the demonstrations. The WGA strike took effect after six weeks of unsuccessful negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, representing the likes of Netflix, Disney, Apple, NBCUniversal, Warner Bros., Paramount, Amazon, and more. Writers are demanding better pay, residuals structures, and protection against AI as a replacement tool for their work, among other concerns.
While the strike has not yet affected some upcoming consecutive seasons of fan-favorite shows, “Saturday Night Live” and a handful of late-night talk shows including Jimmy Kimmel, “The Late Show,” and “The Tonight Show” have gone dark. Manhattan picketers have also protested outside filming on the latest season of “Billions,” though the long-running Showtime series has yet to come to a full stop.

Ava DuVernay has “opted to not renew” her overall deal with Warner Bros. Television following its expiration at the end of the month, TheWrap has learned.
The “Selma” director signed the multi-year agreement with Wbtv back in 2018, which was estimated to be valued at around $100 million. The deal was struck with former Wbtv Group chairman Peter Roth, who left the position in 2021.
Sources said that the decision to end the deal was mutual between Wbtv and DuVernay and made prior to the start of the writers’ strike.
DuVernay, who is expected to focus on her current film slate, is currently in post-production on her film “Caste,” which she is directing. The film stars Vera Farmiga, Niecy Nash, Nick Offerman, Jon Bernthal, Audra McDonald and Connie Nielsen.

Ava DuVernay has ended her rich overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group, multiple sources confirm to Variety.
While news of this decision comes amid the writers strike, the contract talks were unrelated. DuVernay’s deal was set to expire on May 31 and the two parties came to a “mutual decision not to renew.”
DuVernay signed the multi-year agreement in 2018, which was reported to be valued at $100 million, following the parties’ successful collaboration on OWN’s “Queen Sugar,” which signed off last year after seven seasons.
“Ava DuVernay is one of the leading lights in our industry, a brilliantly talented writer, producer, director and entrepreneur whose ability to inspire with her art is exceeded only by her ability to entertain,” former Warner Bros.
TV chief Peter Roth said in a statement announcing the pact. (Channing Dungey is the current chairman and CEO of Wbtvg.)

Ava DuVernay is plotting a new path in television as her overall deal with Warner Bros. TV is coming to a close at the end of May.
The Selma director, who is behind series such as Netflix’s When They See Us and Colin In Black & White as well as OWN series Queen Sugar, signed a five-year deal with the studio in 2018, worth around $100M.
We hear there’s no drama and that it was a mutual decision to part ways. DuVernay is currently in post-production on her film Caste, which she is directing with stars Vera Farmiga, Niecy Nash, Nick Offerman, Jon Bernthal, Audra McDonald and Connie Nielsen, and we hear that her focus is currently on the feature world.
There are no details yet where she plans to move her television deal to.

A Starz series from Ava DuVernay starring Joshua Jackson and Lauren Ridloff is the latest series halting its production as a result of the writers strike.
The untitled series had been filming in Wilmington since March but is stopping production this week.
The series was initially handed a three-year script-to-series commitment last year as part of Starz’ #TakeTheLead summit but its pick-up hadn’t been previously officially announced.
It is a romantic drama starring Fatal Attraction star Jackson and The Walking Dead star Ridloff with DuVernay overseeing the writing. It follows two polar opposites who become intertwined in a love affair that turns their worlds – and those of everyone around them – upside down.
The half-hour drama will chronicle what it takes to fall and stay in a radical, rebellious love. One person is ambitious, while the other is restless. One is ready to commit, while the other debates the merits of relationships.

Spoiler Alert: This story discusses major plot developments and the post-credits scenes in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” currently playing in theaters.
By this point, it’s no secret that Marvel Studios has lost some of its luster in its post-“Avengers: Endgame” era. Between the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s rapid expansion on Disney+ and the exits of stars like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and the late Chadwick Boseman, the Marvel saga has often felt at once too much and not enough: Sprawl without a center.
It’s a problem that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is particularly ill-equipped to address. For one, the film is wholly disconnected from everything else that’s happened in the Marvel Cinematic Universe post-“Endgame” — there’s not a whisper of Kang or the multiverse or incursions or Talokan or, hilariously, Thor, even though the Guardians made a special...

Inevitable Foundation and Starz are teaming for a new multiprogram partnership that has already placed one selected participant on the writing staff of the network’s upcoming original series from director Ava DuVernay.
Starz’s #TaketheLead is part of a larger commitment to supporting and amplifying narratives by, about, and for women and underrepresented audiences. And it now counts Inevitable, which has launched a series of needle-moving initiatives that expand professional and creative opportunities for writers with disabilities since its founding in 2021, among its latest collaborators.
This series of programs will see the non-profit and the cable network empowering foundation participants both financially and professionally through a three-pronged approach.
One portion of the program will support professional development grants through Inevitable Foundation’s Elevate Collective program, which is currently open to applicants. Three will be chosen as a special cohort and will receive a grant, mentoring and coaching from Starz programming executives.

Deaf representation has come a long way in Hollywood.
“Coda’s” release and subsequent best picture Oscar win marked an important moment for deaf audiences. It showed the most significant representation of the community on a global stage since 1986’s “Children of a Lesser God” earned Marlee Matlin a best actress prize.
“Hollywood is making that shift from diversity for optics to something deeper,” says Lauren Ridloff, a deaf actor best known for her work on “Eternals” and “The Walking Dead.”
That deeper shift includes recent projects where deaf representation has been the focus of major storylines. Director James Cameron called on C.J Jones to create Na’vi sign language, featured in “Avatar: The Way of Water.” HBO’s “The Last of Us” offered up another landmark moment when the show about a post-apocalyptic world featured Keivonn Woodard, as a young deaf Black man trying to survive zombie hordes. “We should think a lot more about what women can do,” Sharon Stone told a packed ballroom Tuesday in NYC, speaking passionately about her early career; women in film; and Basic Instinct, the 1992 project that was ground breaking and traumatizing for actor.
Stone was a small-town girl who arrived in New York an aspiring actress “with my suitcase and 50 dollars,” she told the 43rd annual Muse Awards put on by New York Women in Film & Television. “I walked up and down the streets and I checked every pay phone for change that was left in so that I could possibly take the subway instead of walking all the way back to Elizabeth and Houston, where I lived in a fifth-floor walkup above a bakery in a studio apartment with my friend and … lots and lots of cockroaches.”

“Hey Hollywood: Hire Disabled Writers, Not Just A Disability Consultant,” is the title of the Inevitable Foundation’s latest initiative announced in an open letter to the entertainment industry on Thursday signed by notable writers, actors, and showrunners like Lauren Ridloff, Marlee Matlin, and Ramy Youssef, among many others.
The initiative offers disabled creatives and the industry at large equitable and innovative solutions to work together toward building creative power for disabled artists. This includes free access to its Concierge service, a resource for creative executives, showrunners, and producers, which connects them with wonderful mid- and upper-level disabled writers for development and staffing.
“The growing number of disability-inclusive film and television projects in the past few years might lead one to think that the largest minority group in America is finally seeing itself represented on-screen. Disabled workers and disability activists in Hollywood are speaking out in support of expanded employment opportunities in the industry. The Thursday, March 23 open letter, signed by stars such as Ali Stroker, Chris Cooper and Marianne Leone, Daniel Durant, Jason Katims, Krista Vernoff, Lauren Ridloff, Marlee Matlin, Paul Feig, Ramy Youssef, and Siân Heder, was created with the Inevitable Foundation to encourage the TV and film industry to hire disabled creatives in writing, producing, directing, and more positions, not just disability consultants. The Inevitable Foundation is a non-profit “working to close the disability representation gap in film and television. Currently, disabled people make up over 20 percent of the U.S. population but represent only two percent of characters on screen and less than one percent of film and TV writers,” the org said in the Thursday press release. “By funding and mentoring mid-career disabled screenwriters, Inevitable Foundation is creating a world...

Hollywood’s biggest stars are making their red carpet debut at the 2023 Oscars.
This year’s fashion ranged from subtle champagne ensembles — which complemented the carpet color — to extremely bright and bold looks. Supporting actress nominee Jamie Lee Curtis, lead actor nominee Paul Mescal and presenter Samuel L. Jackson all sported champagne-colored outfits. Presenter Cara Delevingne and two of the supporting actress nominees, Stephanie Hsu and Angela Bassett, made bold statements with their vibrant, bright and voluminous ballgowns.
But even those who didn’t embrace the bright still shined. From former winners to this year’s nominees, women across the carpet were seen in sequins, including Jessica Chastain, Ana de Armas, Ariana DeBose, Eva Longoria, Lauren Ridloff, Malala Yousafzai, Catherine Martin and Nicole Kidman. Others stunned in white, from lead actress nominees Michelle Yeoh and Michelle Williams to presenters Halle Berry, Emily Blunt, Mindy Kaling and Florence Pugh.

This post contains spoilers for "The Last of Us" episode 5.
HBO's "The Last of Us" is at times almost a shot-for-shot remake of the 2013 game from Naughty Dog, and at other times makes profound changes to characters and how their stories play out. Sadly, Sam (Keivonn Woodard) and his older brother Henry (Lamar Johnson) do not get a reprieve in the same way that Bill and Frank did. The fifth episode of the series, "Endure and Survive," brings their story to the same tragic conclusion as the game: Sam turns after being infected with the cordyceps virus; Henry shoots his little brother and, unable to live with the guilt and horror of what he's done, kills himself immediately afterwards.
But in a post-apocalyptic world with a generally high body count, the journey counts more than the destination. In that regard, "Endure and Survive" is effective in the parallels it draws...

Killer Collectibles highlights five of the most exciting new horror products released each and every week, from toys and apparel to artwork, records, and much more.
Here are the coolest horror collectibles unveiled this week!
Universal Monsters Bobbleheads from Neca
Neca will add four Universal Monsters to its Head Knockers line of bobbleheads in August. Priced at 34.99, Dracula, Frankenstein, Bride of Dracula, and The Wolf Man are made of hand-painted resin and stand 8″ tall.
The sculpts are pretty fun on these, although I’m not sure why the necks are comically long when Neca’s other bobbleheads don’t have that issue. The prototypes are pictured, so maybe they’ll iron that out before production.
B’Twixt Now and Sunrise: The Authentic Cut Blu-ray from Lionsgate
2011’s Twixt was an ambitious, if flawed, Gothic horror film from the great Francis Ford Coppola that failed to land with critics and audiences alike.

Who watches TV for the main characters?
The supporting characters are usually far more interesting.
2022 provided no shortage of supporting characters running away with the show.
These are the scene stealers of 2022 whose spinoffs we would watch.
Commander Jett Reno - Star Trek: Discovery
The incomparable Tig Notaro brings her signature snark to the role of Chief Engineer but, in actual fact, is the reincarnation of Tos' Bones. Wait, that's not the right term since they're technically contemporaries. Emotional doppelganger. Yeah, that fits.
Who wouldn't give their port side nacelle to see a Young Sheldon-like prequel for Reno as a spunky and brilliant young engineer aboard the USS Hiawatha? Or as a candy-addicted cadet at Starfleet Academy?
Even a Short Trek where she visits family and her wife's final resting place? Maybe Reno will create a holodeck program where she can celebrate their anniversary. Notaro would kill that emotive opportunity with deadpan delivery.

Sometimes, it is tragic when a character dies. Other times, death is a cause for celebration, a villain vanquished at long last. Either way, death closes the book on a character, and dealing with that is a huge deal.
We have to reconcile ourselves to a world without this character. We have to make peace with never seeing them again. Well, never say never because sometimes, characters come back from the dead.
This twist has routes in soap operas, but as annoying as redemption arcs are, it's impressive when a show can surprise us.
If we didn't see a body, we might suspect something, but sometimes we believe someone is dead only to learn they aren't.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been rife with cameos over the last fifteen years, from television hosts to hubristic billionaires who pick fights with rock stars. In Phase Four, the very nature of what makes a cameo was tested. Minor characters popped up for full episodes of "She-Hulk." Kevin Bacon played himself and became the McU-canon lynchpin of the "Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special." Bacon's ecstatic turn as himself pursued by Drax and Mantis is too substantial to be a cameo, but it works because it's cameo-adjacent. Great cameos take a recognizable actor or character and deploy them surprisingly for a brief period. Even if Bacon's appearance was supersized, it works because he seemed destined for the MCU in a marquee role. Here, director James Gunn takes advantage of the actor's self-awareness and makes him important to beloved Marvel characters.

It’s over.
Over a decade after its initial premiere in October 2010, AMCs “The Walking Dead” has reached its ultimate conclusion. “Rest In Peace” marked not only the last episode of the mega-sized 11th season, but the final episode of the entire flagship series. While there are a plethora of spin-offs featuring fan-favorite characters on the horizon, “Rest In Peace” closed a chapter on the core ensemble’s long fight for survival.
With dozens of recurring characters, actors juggling other filming commitments, losing its lead character, showrunner shifts, and the occasional controversial moment, finding a way to resolve the longest-running zombie television series seemed like an impossible feat. Despite all the odds, showrunner Angela Kang managed to overcome the show’s typical hiccups for an exceptionally rewarding, and emotional send-off.

After 11 seasons and 12 years, present and past cast members of “The Walking Dead” gathered together to celebrate the series finale at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Fans sat on risers yards away from the red carpet, cheering the names of their favorite actors, who spoke to Variety about all they were feeling.
“When we were first doing the pilot, everybody kept saying, ‘This probably won’t go any further, because it’s zombies.’ Everything at that time was vampires,'” said Lennie James, who stars in “The Walking Dead” and spinoff “Fear the Walking Dead” as Morgan Jones. Reflecting on the work of Greg Nicotero, the series’ longtime director and executive producer, and Scott M. Gimple, the franchise’s chief content officer, James added, “What Gimple and Nicotero have done is they’ve made zombie sexy. They’ve made zombie scary. They’ve made zombies interesting.

The Walking Dead capped off an 11-season run on Sunday night, with the stars of AMC’s zombie hit celebrating the series finale at a fan event in Los Angeles.
Norman Reedus, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Lauren Cohan and Melissa McBride, alongside their costars of past and present, walked the carpet at downtown’s Orpheum Theatre and weighed in on wrapping up the longtime show.
“These last few episodes really moved me in all ways the show has cumulatively done over the years, so I loved it,” Cohan told The Hollywood Reporter of reading the final scripts and learning now the series would end. “I think it demonstrates the friendship that these characters have; I think it demonstrates how we deal with loss and how inevitable loss is, and how we celebrate being together. And ironically, that’s really how I feel tonight, too.

Sunday’s series finale of The Walking Dead (read recap here) left us with a lot of feelings. Surprise (a glimpse of Rick and Michonne!). Happiness (Judith, Jerry and Dog lived!). Sadness (R.I.P., Rosita!). Even ambivalence (so no “Donnie” after all, huh?). But it also left us with a ton of questions. Here to answer some of them for TVLine is showrunner Angela Kang.

After 12 years, The Walking Dead will “Rest in Peace” this Sunday. The hour-and-a-half series finale has plenty of explaining to do on a variety of subjects, ranging from the odds the Commonwealth and the Civic Republic Military (Crm) are connected, to whether we’ll actually see original protagonist Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) before the spinoffs arrive. We’re breaking down eight burning questions we have for the show’s final installment, titled “Rest in Peace.” Jace Downs/AMC What Is “Designation Two”? This is an open door that might lead straight to Crm. We still haven’t gotten answers about where Connie (Lauren Ridloff) was supposed to go earlier in 11C. Supposedly, she wasn’t being sent to the labor camps: she was heading for something called “Designation 2,” a place that apparently people don’t usually come back from. Crm? It’s possible, if not likely. What Did Lance Mean...

Ashton Kutcher was one of many people who flocked to New York for the NYC Marathon and used his celebrity status to raise a pretty penny for charity. Kutcher raised 1,016,589.65 on Funraise for his nonprofit Thorn, which he founded with his ex-wife Demi Moore and has the mission of combatting the human trafficking of children.
In Memoriam 2022: 100 Great Celebrities Who Died This Year!
Kutcher looked about as winded as you would expect after running 26.2 miles. As athletic as he looks, the actor was nowhere near the top of the fastest times of the weekend. He finished the marathon with a perfectly respectable time of 3 hours and 54 minutes, and a placement of 8,139th place.
If you compare his time to other celebrities who ran the Marathon this year, Kutcher narrowly beat YouTuber Casey Neistat, Lauren Ridloff from The Walking Dead, Chelsea Clinton and Ellie Kemper among others. One of the...
