Exclusive: Aussie up-and-comer Sam Reid has joined the Paul Currie-directed 2:22 alongside Michiel Huisman (Game Of Thrones, Wild) and Teresa Palmer (Knight Of Cups, Point Break, ). Michiel Huisman from “Game of Thrones” and “Orphan Black” has landed the lead role opposite Teresa Palmer in the psychological thriller “2:22” and he’s also in talks to co-star alongside Natalie Dormer in Focus Features’ supernatural thriller “The Forest,” multiple individuals familiar with both projects have told TheWrap.
Reps for Focus and Huisman did not respond to requests for comment.
Paul Currie is directing “2:22” from an original script by Todd Stein that was later revised by Nathan Parker (“Moon”) and Currie.

Motion picture and television legend Jerry Lewis will return to Cannes this year for a special screening of Max Rose, a feature film starring Lewis, Claire Bloom (The King’s Speech), Kevin Pollak (Three Nights, The Usual Suspects), Kerry Bishé (Argo), and Mort Sahl. A Lightstream Pictures production, the film is directed by Daniel Noah, from his original screenplay. Max Rose is produced by Lawrence Inglee (The Messenger, Rampart) and Garrett Kelleher (Rampart), executive produced by Paul Currie, Matthew Malek, Charlie O’Carroll, Gaston Pavlovich and William L. Screen Australia has announced $17m investment across 14 projects including feature films and both adult and children’s television.
The investment is expected to trigger $97m in production.
The list of productions include: black comedy The Mule by co-writers/co-producers Leigh Whannell and Angus Sampson with direction from Tony Mahony about a drug mule caught by authorities and Antony I Ginnane’s remake of Patrick, directed by Not Quite Hollywood’s Mark Hartley.
Also on the list is The Grandmothers, written by Christopher Hampton (A Dangerous Method) and director Anne Fontaine (Coco Avant Chanel) and starring Naomi Watts, Robin Wright, Xavier Samuel and James Frecheville in the adaptation of Doris Lessing’s novel.
