Since 2015, there’s been no need to go on a minibreak to a cultural European destination. Richard Ayoade and Joe Lycett have gone for us. They’ve waited at airport security lines displaying their miniature toothpaste tube in a clear plastic bag. They’ve bought mystery crisps from railway vending machines. They’ve been to the museums, tried the local delicacies and gone on the sightseeing tours, so that we could stay luxuriously put.
Indeed, for a good chunk of 2020, staying put was the only option, which is when Travel Man: 48 Hours In…really came into its own. During lockdown, you could spin the globe, choose a location, load up All4 (as it was then known), and have a packed weekend there from the comfort of your sofa. All the experience of short haul travel with none of the having-to-mime-migraine-symptoms-to-a-Hungarian-pharmacist. Bliss!

Taskmaster seems to be one of those magically perfect TV shows, but of course the root of its genius isn’t magic at all: it’s a whip-smart combination of Alex Horne’s original format, the comedic force of nature that is Greg Davies in the role of the Taskmaster, and relentlessly good casting.
As we’ve said before, there’s no such thing as a bad series of Taskmaster, and we’re sure Series 15 will be no different, but until it arrives, what should fans fill their time watching?
Take a look at these similarly delightful TV shows, including plenty featuring previous Taskmaster series alumni:
Man Down (Channel 4)
Starring the Taskmaster himself Greg Davies, this Channel 4 sitcom centres on his character Dan, a frankly terrible schoolteacher who is having an infinitely amusing midlife crisis. As you can see from the clip above, it’ll please fans of Davies’ scathing takedowns,...

Kate Hudson has explained why she found a Matthew McConaughey kissing scene “not that fun to shoot”.
The actor appeared opposite the Oscar winner in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003) and Fool’s Gold (2008), and previously described a romantic scene they shared in the latter as “gross”.
“Every time I kissed McConaughey, I mean, it’s like there’s just something happening and there’s like snot, or wind,” Hudson, 43, said.
Speaking about the scene during a forthcoming appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, Hudson explained that the reason it “was definitely not that fun to shoot” was due to the fact it occurred in the sea.
“Ocean, swimming and kissing is not always pleasant,” she said, adding: “Things happen in the ocean, like yuckiness… we’re like treading water trying to stay above water.”
Hudson continued: “Matthew and I have had very romantic kisses and then we’ve had very non-romantic kisses.

Richard Ayoade and the cast of Have I Got News For You have ripped into the “national scandal” surrounding the alleged This Morning queue jump.
Presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were accused of “skipping the queue” to see the Queen’s coffin lying in state before her funeral on Monday (19 September) while filming for This Morning.
Willoughby and Schofield denied the accusations, saying that they would “never jump a queue”.
At the time of writing, nearly 70,000 people have signed a petition calling on ITV to “axe” the presenters over the alleged queue-jumping.
During Friday (23 September) night’s episode of Hignfy, host Ayoade joked that the “national scandal” was “the biggest thing that’s happened” this week.
“ITV’s Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield… apparently just appeared in Westminster Hall on Sunday without having spent the previous 36 hours queueing,” Ayoade said.
“Just appeared? Like a haunting?” comedian Roisin Conaty asked.

Hooray! Taskmaster is returning to Channel 4 for its fourteenth series on Thursday 29th September at 9pm. There’s no denying the previous thirteen series have provided some moments of pure glory: Richard Osman fiendishly finding a loophole to the gruelling ‘Place These Yoga Balls On The Mat On Top Of That Hill’ task. Kerry Godliman’s genius quick change. When Mawaan Rizwan made a giant cow disappear.
But if there’s one thing the UK loves more than queuing, it’s an underdog. Or sometimes just someone who isn’t afraid to admit they simply can’t be arsed. And in many ways it’s the contestants’ biggest, most epic failures that make some of the show’s best moments.
So it’s lucky that for every series of Taskmaster there seems to be one last-place contestant trailing miles behind the rest, who seems hopelessly inept, or whose mind...

Contains spoilers for the Taskmaster series 11 finale
The suit. The ‘tache. The smile. The preternatural speed with which he’s able to snatch a marshmallow from an opponent using a pair of kitchen tongs. There’s a great deal to admire about Taskmaster series 11 contestant Mike Wozniak, so admire him we will. Right here. Starting now. Tick tock: it’s Wozniak o’clock.
Who is Mike Wozniak?
He’s an absolute bloody milk guzzler, that’s who.
Like Harry Hill, Graham Chapman, Graeme Garden and Paul Sinha before him, Mike Wozniak trained and worked as a doctor before becoming a stand-up. Healthcare’s loss was comedy’s gain. His 2013 Edinburgh Fringe show, in which Wozniak played an outmoded light entertainer, received a Best Comedy Show nomination.

Netflix knows a hit when it has one.
The streamer has handed out a second season order to Ricky Gervais' After Life.
The series focuses on Tony Johnson (Gervais), a recent widower who struggles with his very existence following the death of his wife.
He decides that sticking around would be the best course of action after contemplating suicide. The reason for that is to say exactly what he's thinking and be as rude to whoever he wants for the rest of his life.
Also, he has to look after the dog he shared with his late wife.

The first season launched on Netflix on March 8, spanning six half-hour episodes. The second season will again have six episodes.
After Life received mixed to positive reviews from critics, with the freshman run currently standing at a 68% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Ricky Gervais’ dark comedy After Life is coming back to Netflix for a second season.

Ricky Gervais’ new Netflix series After Life is a darker and more solemn affair than we’ve come to expect from the creator of The Office, Extras and Derek. Written, directed by and starring Gervais himself, After Life tackles grief, addiction and depression with mixed results in this hugely funny, if tonally flawed 6 part series.
Months after losing his wife and soul mate of twenty-five years Lisa (Kerry Godliman) to cancer, Tony (Gervais) just can’t seem to get over her and refuses to envisage a world without her in it. In fact the only thing keeping him from taking his own life, is the thought of leaving his beloved German shepherd behind, a dog he promised Lisa he would take care of no matter what.

The play’s writer, Richard Bean, is executive producing the project along with Oli Refson and Nicholas Hytner. “One Man, Two Guvnors” is itself an English adaptation of “Servant of Two Masters,” an 18th-century Italian play. The original film is about a woman (Roberts) who fakes her own death in an attempt to escape a nightmarish marriage, only to find she can’t evade her controlling husband.
Jones is also planning a film adaptation of “One Man, Two Guvnors,” the stage play starring James Corden. The play’s writer, Richard Bean, is executive producing the project along with Oli Refson and Nicholas Hytner. “One Man, Two Guvnors” is itself an English adaptation of “Servant of Two Masters,” an 18th-century Italian play. The Favourite backer Fox Searchlight is lining up a reboot of Julia Roberts’ 1991 hit Sleeping With The Enemy and a feature version of smash James Corden stage play One Man, Two Guvnors as part of a new producing deal with The Iron Lady and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie producer Damian Jones.
Prolific UK producer Jones is in development on a strong new slate of movies with Searchlight and they have set emerging US filmmaker Nia DaCosta as writer-director of the Sleeping With The Enemy “reimagining.” DaCosta’s 2018 feature debut Little Woods starred Lily James and Tessa Thompson as sisters driven to work outside the law to better their lives.

If you’ve ever wondered what a meaner, sadder David Brent would look like, Ricky Gervais has got you covered. The official synopsis reads: “From the mind of Ricky Gervais, ‘After Life’ is a the story of Tony, who had an all-too-perfect life. But after his wife Lisa suddenly dies, Tony changes. He decides instead to live long enough to punish the world by saying and doing whatever he likes from now on. He thinks it...

U.S. cable network IFC and British broadcaster Channel 4 have ordered Year of the Rabbit, a six-part comedy starring Toast of London’s Matt Berry. The two broadcasters have commissioned the show from All3Media-backed Objective Fiction after it was piloted by C4 last year.
The news was announced today at the Atx Television Festival in Austin.
The series follows a group of Victorian detectives; Berry, who stars in Jim Hosking’s An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn and Matt Groening’s Netflix animation Disenchantment, plays Detective Inspector Rabbitt, a hardened booze-hound who’s seen it all, and his new, hapless, by-the-books partner, played by Parade End’s Freddie Fox. While investigating a local murder, the chief of police’s lewd but insightful adoptive daughter, played by Chewing Gum’s Susan Wokoma, becomes the country’s first female officer. We’ve taken a highlighter to this year’s Christmas and New Year TV schedules and circled what we’ll be watching this festive season…
Amid the cosy repeats and cranberry-stuffed cookery shows on TV over the next few weeks are a few gems. Greg Davies and Alex Horne's Taskmaster has been renewed for two further series.
The pair will return for ten newly commissioned episodes, putting comedians through their paces in outrageous challenges.
Frank Skinner, Josh Widdicombe, Roisin Conaty, Tim Key and Romesh Ranganathan all appeared on the first series of the game show.
Horne said about the new series: "This news is both exciting and appropriate; the Taskmaster still has many tasks he needs completing - almost all of which are either far-fetched or still unconcocted - and who better to attempt such challenges than a fresh bunch of ill-equipped and unhealthily competitive comedians."
The programme originally began as a live show helmed by Horne, which ran at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2010 and 2011.
The first series aired on Dave earlier this year.

Alex Horne spent a whole year setting silly tasks for his mates for an hour's worth of fun at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2010 and 2011. Now, he's bringing Taskmaster to TV with the help of Greg Davies and Dave.
The award-winning comic will sit aside Davies in the comedy game show. "I'm sort of the Nick Hewer to his Alan Sugar," he told Digital Spy. Frank Skinner, Tim Key, Romesh Ranganathan, Roisin Conaty and Josh Widdicombe will be the unfortunate stars who have to endure their crazy ideas.
"It was entirely meant to be a bit of fun, I quite like doing an extra show while I'm up in Edinburgh because I think it's such a good chance to do something with other comedians," he said. "Someone did say after 'ooh that would work well on telly', and I didn't really think they were right, because telly normally can take the fun out of something,...

Talk turns to touring with Mick Jagger in this Never Mind the Buzzcocks clip, and in true Buzzcocks style things get dirty, quickly.
As The 1975's Matt Healy is questioned about his time supporting The Rolling Stones, prepare for bad impressions, inappropriateness and lots of laughter.
The clip ends with team captain Noel Fielding exclaiming to Rhod Gilbert that "this is the rudest show I've ever been on", while guest Professor Green quips: "Well his name is Rhod."
Series 28 of Never Mind the Buzzcocks returns with Gilbert as the new permanent host.
This ends the tradition of having guest hosts on the show, which began when Simon Amstell left the series in 2009.
In the series 28 opener, Gilbert, Fielding and Phill Jupitus are joined by guests Healy, Green, comedian Roisin Conaty and Gabby Logan.
Never Mind the Buzzcocks returns tonight (September 29) at 10pm on BBC Two.
