You know what they say about Broadway: If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.
Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda is set to be adapting a musical loosely inspired by Martin Scorsese’s beloved 1977 movie musical “New York, New York” for Broadway, set for a March 2023 release. The official opening night will be in April 2023, and Tony winner Susan Stroman will direct and choreograph the musical.
The Scorsese film starred Liza Minnelli as a lounge singer who falls for a saxophonist, played by Robert De Niro. Their romance gives way to their respective ambitions and dreams of music stardom against the backdrop of the Big Apple in the 1940s.
However, the same characters will not be appearing in the new iteration. Deadline reported the Broadway production will “feature little of Scorsese’s storyline” from the film. Yet the setting remains the same: post-war 1946 in Manhattan as the city recovers.

Exclusive: Start spreading the news! A new musical loosely based on Martin Scorsese’s 1977 film New York, New York will begin performances on Broadway, theater to be announced, in March 2023. Opening night will be in April, with Tony and Olivier Award winner Susan Stroman on board to direct and choreograph.
The show — of course it’s called New York, New York — will feature numbers written for the movie by legendary songwriting duo John Kander and Fred Ebb. Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) will write additional lyrics for new Kander tunes, Deadline has learned.
Four Kander and Ebb songs were used in Scorsese’s MGM film, including the fabled title track that will definitely feature big in the Broadway show.
Casting breakdowns for New York, New York were being issued today. The production is believed to have a cast of 31 and an orchestra of 19 musicians.

(Cbr) Eli Roth has made just four feature films in the past 12 years, but one of them is already getting a remake of sorts. Deadline reports that "Cabin Fever," the director’s 2002 feature debut, will get a remake or, more accurately, a reshoot. Basically, director Travis Zariwny will use the same script Roth wrote with Randy Pearlstein for the new version. Roth is on board as producer for the film, which starts shooting this week in in Portland, Oregon. There cast includes Gage Golightly ("Teen Wolf"), Dustin Ingram ("True Blood"), Samuel Davis ("From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series"), Matthew Daddario ("Delivery Man") and Nadine Crocker ("Some Guy Who Kills People"). Zariwny helmed the sci-fi creeper "Scavengers" as well as "Intruder," which is supposed to come out this year.

Okay, so the headline is a bit of a lie, at least when it comes to the trailer for the new found footage, Bigfoot horror film Exists from The Blair Witch Project co-director Eduardo Sanchez. But it's not a lie when it comes to the film's poster, which features a car killed by an uprooted tree. Exists, which is coming to theaters and iTunes on October 24, finds five friends on a weekend of camping in the Texas when they find out their uncle's cabin is a piece of sh*t and Bigfoot is stalking them. Found footage mayhem ensues, all captured in plenty of night vision. The cast -- Dora Madison Burge, Samuel Davis, Roger Edwards, Chris Osborn, Brian Steele, Denise Williamson -- is all newcomers, but that doesn't mean this won't be any good. Sanchez delivered the goods with Blair Witch and has since had a small-ish career, most...

What is it that “exists” in Eduardo Sánchez’s new horror film, Exists? Well, judging by the poster for the Blair Witch Project co-director’s movie—which you can exclusively see above—it ain’t the Easter Bunny.
